1461  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Problems running 3+ GPUs (bounty) on: May 24, 2012, 05:09:50 PM
that surely points to the PSU then ?

What wattage is it ? have you got another one you can try ?
I doubt yochdog would underpower his rigs.

But the crashing is odd, I've had 6 on 1 rig before, all on extenders, and 1 on a PCI to PCIe adapter.

I'd be interested in what the BSOD says. 11.6 with SDK 2.5 should be stable.

I will try this.

The rig I am testing with has a 1200W PSU for 2x 5970, and whatever random card I throw in the 3rd slot.  I don't think power is the issue.

1462  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Problems running 3+ GPUs (bounty) on: May 24, 2012, 04:30:53 PM
do they BSOD under load or while booting into windows ?

When I used to run windows for my miners I had 2 5970s in one rig and it would always crash CGMiner. Turned out to be the PSU.

They only BSOD once mining begins.  Otherwise they seem fine.
1463  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Problems running 3+ GPUs (bounty) on: May 24, 2012, 04:12:23 PM
I seem to have consistent problems running more than 3 GPUs (3 cards that is....I have many 2x 5970's working) in a single system.

Whenever I add a 3rd graphics card to a system, they almost always blue screen on me.  It does not seem to matter what brand of MOBO, what type of GPU, etc.  I use Win7, mostly 64 bit.

Has anyone else had issues like this?

I would really like to figure out what is going wrong, as I could increase my density greatly by making use of the idle PCI slots.

Thanks in advance.

PS - as a sweetener, anyone who gives advice that leads me to getting a 3+ GPU system stable will get a 5 BTC bounty.

What drivers?  What SDK? What board?

All over the board.  This is an issue I have had with all of the set-ups I have tried.

I will get the specifics on one of the configs and post it.
1464  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Problems running 3+ GPUs (bounty) on: May 24, 2012, 03:53:53 PM
have you tried setting the PCIE Latency to 96 in the Mobo bios?

I have not.  But I will certainly give it a shot.

Just traded bitcoins for paypal on spendbitcoins.com . Was very satisfied and will do it again no problem. did it last night there was an issue and jeremy fixed it immediately . Excellent service. No more getting ripped off on ebay selling bitcoins as long as this service is up and running.

Jeremy is awesome.  You won't find a more honest trader.
1467  Bitcoin / Mining / general megahash to shares relationship? on: May 22, 2012, 03:52:04 AM
Does anyone have a good approximation for a MH/s to shares conversion?  Say I have 10 GH/s.....how many shares would that produce in 1 hour?
1468  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 BTC bounty - CGminer and bitforce on: May 22, 2012, 02:55:10 AM
working on this.....can i still run GPU's at the same time?
You would need to change the config to include the usual GPU info - unfortunately I don't have a GPU in the box that is running my Single, so I can't provide an example. But you should be able to blend the configs from a GPU machine with the one above and use both. If you have never used a cgminer config file before, there is an example included in the download to go off of.

It looks like it is on Com3.....but I cannot get right.  What should the script look like?

C:\<path to miner>\cgminer.exe -S \\.\COM3 -S \\.\COM3

?
If you only have one, just remove the second -S \\.\COMxx entry, or add more if you have more than one. If the xx number is lower than 10, you can use it without \\.\ I think.

Has anyone figured out the problems getting the config file to properly load pool details yet?
1469  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 BTC bounty - CGminer and bitforce on: May 22, 2012, 02:53:10 AM
I got the one working....now I need to get the other 5 daisy chained.  Send me you payment address!
Siggy one works. Thanks.

sent.  thanks a bunch!

1. Find the serial port numbers from the Device Manager - devmgmt.msc. Should be COMxx where the xx is one or 2 numbers.
2. Batch file in the Startup folder with this:
Code:
C:\<path to miner>\cgminer.exe -S \\.\COMxx -S \\.\COMxx
3. cgminer.conf file in the same folder as cgminer.exe, in the following format:
Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://pool.com:8332",
"user" : "user",
"pass" : "pass"
},
{
"url" : "http://pool.com:8337",
"user" : "user",
"pass" : "pass"
}
],
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"retry-pause" : "5",
"scan-time" : "60",
"submit-stale" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0"
}

Some of those settings may not apply to you, but they are what work for me. Apparently there is a way to put the device info into the config file, but I have never been able to get it working that way. If the config file is named cgminer.conf, it will be loaded automatically without having to be specified.

As much as I'd like a $1,400 pair of Xeons, I don't need them that bad...lol

I'll just buy another pair of cheapo Engineering Samples and call it a day.

I appreciate the offer though, so thanks.

my pleasure
1475  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB: Pair of LGA1366 Xeon 5600 Series CPUs on: May 12, 2012, 04:07:38 AM
My current HiDef Ripper/Encoder/Workstation/Porn-Surfer needs an upgrade.

I am currently running:
SuperMicro X8DTi-F Motherboard (Dual 1366 i7 Xeon) ............. http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/qpi/5500/x8dti-f.cfm
2x Xeon X5550 Quads (Dual Quads + HT @ 2.67Ghz) .......... http://ark.intel.com/products/37106/Intel-Xeon-Processor-X5550-(8M-Cache-2_66-GHz-6_40-GTs-Intel-QPI)

I am wondering if anyone here has a line on a decently priced pair of 5600's (6-core each + Hyperthreading), or has a pair for sale.
Engineering Samples are OK.
2.26Ghz and faster is acceptable. 'L' or 'E' Series preferable (X's take more juice to run)

...if you thought that 16 CPU threads made me a douchebag, WAIT till I get 24 up and running Wink

Shipping to Calgary, Canada required.
Paypal/BTC

Cheers,
bitlane.

$1,400 for the pair.  That is 30%+ off retail

I have a beautiful pair of X5650's.  They are sitting in a back-up server we no longer need......night have been booted up twice in their entire life.

What kind of price are you offering.....they ain't cheap on Newegg....

If they are for sale, you tell me a price - I say YES or NO.
Any 'offer' I make will be a blatant low-ball because I am cheap......lol
1476  Economy / Lending / Re: [FULFILLED!] 10,000 BTC loan - LONG TERM on: May 11, 2012, 10:34:11 PM
Just wanted to drop a line to everyone following this loan with curiosity.

The first payment was made last week.  We actually changed the terms to monthly payments, at the request of the lender.

Also, the principal amount was bumped to 11,000 BTC.

Just FYI.  I am absolutely stoked by the implications of large BTC lending like this.

Translation: "brb, buying a 600cc motorcycle" Tongue

lol.....fun, but no.  Went to a much more profitable use than that!   Cool

Anyone having connection issues again?
I have been for several hours.

I'm connected just fine.

totally dead here.  ABCpool is down as well.

No public work but connected fine to gpumax and on to Ozco.in

Same, I'm running BTC Guild through GPUMAX with no issues. I'd suggest checking your set pools. If ABCPool is down, that may well be your problem.

def ABCpool problem.....GPUmax is working fine.  FML.....i need a third failover
