1484  Economy / Goods / [WTS] 5 x 2013 1-BTC Casascius Coins on: March 18, 2014, 02:23:19 AM
Hello,

Up for sale are five (5) 2013 1-BTC Casascius Bitcoins.

These are the brass coins.  They have never been touched by hands and have been kept in a safe and undisturbed since receiving them from Casascius.  They have not been played with, dropped, or anything like that -- these went straight from the mail to my safe.

Price: 1.4 BTC each, or 7 BTC buys all five.  Price includes shipping.

I'm open to reasonable offers.

Come get 'em! Smiley

WTF is with the repeat answers?!

Every answer past the first is just repeating the same shit. Is this some kind of group blowjob? Or are you guys paid per post?

LOL!

No, each post intended to add extra clarity.  For example, do you think "Bitcoin will die" is a comprehensive answer to the question, "What will happen if there are no min[e]rs in the network?"  For beginners, some additional clarity might be appreciated.

What's your excuse?
1487  Economy / Gambling / Re: Play Pacman, win bitcoin on: March 15, 2014, 04:40:44 AM
First try.  Maybe I should bet next time?

It's not total score, it's how many points you can earn in 2 minutes.  I got well over 10k before I died Wink

That's how they getcha Smiley

Edit:  Thank god the high score isn't on level 3!

1489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs something equivalent to a stock split on: March 14, 2014, 02:46:09 PM
Such a thing could be implemented, but I can't see it being accepted by a majority of peer nodes. My opinion is that we should not monkey with the code to accommodate human nature. If someone can't get their head around the fact that price is irrelevant then they should trade beenie babies instead.

The attitude of "if you're not smart enough, then f@#k you" is not the way to go.  If you want Bitcoin to be successful then it's going to need to be made easier for people.

I think we need to unify around using mBTC instead of BTC, that's the simpler solution compared to a "stock split" type option.  We may need to split eventually, but it most likely won't be necessary for a long time.

I can see it now:
1) Consensus leads to mBTC preference over BTC
2) Alt-coin pump-and-dump fanatics realize that the minimum lowest purchase price on any exchange is now 0.00000001 mBTC instead of 0.00000001 BTC
3) Every new alt-coin has >quintillion coin total supply
1490  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How the reciver Knows that he/she received Bitcoins on: March 14, 2014, 02:33:12 PM
Hi,

I have  few questions regarding Bitcoin transactions.
   Could someone clarify in details

1.In the transaction, when the receiver receives Bitcoin and how the receiver knows that he/she receives Bitcoin

   2. What will happen if there are no Minors in the network.

Thanks & Regards
Venkat

1) You know you've received Bitcoins if your balance in your wallet increases.  Any Bitcoin wallet software will indicate your balance and provide you with a history of your transaction record.  I'm not really sure what else you meant by this question.  If you check your transaction record, you will know if you received (or sent) bitcoins or not.  It's really not any different than looking at your bank statements to know if and when you've received a deposit.

2) Miners act as a lubricant for the Bitcoin payment network.  Miners are required to confirm and process transactions.  If you remove all miners, you completely halt the network.  That is why miners receive a subsidy (i.e. block rewards) for their efforts; the subsidy provides an incentive for miners to keep mining, and this ensures that the network is able to continue processing transactions.
1491  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chess for BTC on: March 12, 2014, 06:19:49 PM
Basically, chess gambling is best suited for grandmasters who can routinely beat any chess engine around (this constitutes a *very* small percentage of players).  Every other game is just going to be a "who has the best chess engine?" contest.

Unfortunately, no such grandmasters exist, not even Magnus Carlsen. This is true at long time limits, and much more so at short time limits.

That could be.  I was under the impression that a few GMs, like Magnus, can still routinely beat (as white) or draw (as black) against even the best engines (and I'm aware that engines today are much stronger than even Deep Blue).
1492  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chess for BTC on: March 12, 2014, 03:51:07 PM
Two main problems with online chess gambling:

1) Anyone who isn't playing a game under 1-2 minutes will be cheating.
2) Beginners who don't cheat won't gamble.

Basically, chess gambling is best suited for grandmasters who can routinely beat any chess engine around (this constitutes a *very* small percentage of players).  Every other game is just going to be a "who has the best chess engine?" contest.

It's probably because most of the trade made by the user "the joint" were done before the Trust system was introduced.
Anyway I said that they go for less because I've been selling them for less .. in this period I've seen that the price range between 1.1-1.4 for 2013 brass

To some extent, yes, many trades were made before the trust system was implemented, but I've also had several successful, recent trades that aren't reflected in my trust rating.  I just haven't been diligent about requesting that the buyers leave feedback.

That upper end of the range you stated sounds realistic.  I'm sure deals have been made at 1.1 BTC, though I'm not prepared to sell at that price, especially for coins that are in such good condition as these.
1494  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3 x 2013 1-BTC Casascius Coins on: March 11, 2014, 08:00:00 PM
Blazedout419 does make a good point.

If you don't trust me, don't buy.  If you're interested but don't trust me, I can provide rep.

If you trust me and just want a fast, smooth exchange, then that is what I'm offering.

Just helping the newbies who join the forum realize now matter the stats of an account use escrow...

Fair enough.  I won't discourage escrow, and I also encourage newbies to use escrow.

It's one of those things where you say to yourself "But I know I'm honest!" and you want things to be as convenient as possible.  That is why reputation is so valuable -- if your rep is strong enough you can demand convenience through up-front payment.

You'd find that I'm consistent in pushing for up-front payment in my sales threads.  The reasoning is simple -- I have zero risk of getting scammed.  I don't like transacting when I feel at risk, and if this puts off a potential buyer, that's fine, I understand.
1496  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3 x 2013 1-BTC Casascius Coins on: March 11, 2014, 06:26:02 PM
You have hardly any trust feedback or WoT... where is all this "trust"??  I have 20x the rep as you and would encourage escrow for any deal..if it were me or anyone selling.

I can go back and start quoting feedback if I need to.   I'm not a business or anything close to it, but I've sold GPUs, ASICs, gemstones, exchanged virtual currencies, and otherwise.  The majority of those sales were without escrow wherein I received payment up front -- I've heard no complaints.  Even the terms of my escrow sales included up front payment (e.g. some now, some later). Edit: John K. could vouch for this.

The whole point of having an account for years, making thousands of posts, contributing to the community by working, exchanging, and facilitating the dialogue within it, etc. is to establish credibility.  Despite a few controversial posts, I'm squeaky clean, and my sales feedback is flawless.  Maybe if I went back and coerced everyone I transacted with to bump up the plus count in my trust rating, it'd be as cool as yours.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] InvestorCoin!!! on: March 11, 2014, 05:42:01 PM
This is a new coin.  Where you buy shares of the 0.075 needed to buy it from CoinCreator.com.

funds go here:

1invowjuPCayx1p2S4b4DAVHgFYKXeiVw

THEN we premine 100% of it, then sell it for BTC.1 a coin the first day, BTC.2 the next, etc..  doubling until it's gone...

funds will go into your account, proportional to the money you invested.

how about this?  Smiley

only thing is we have to decide how many coins to make (i suggest 500)

Are you high?
1498  Economy / Lending / Re: I Need 0.5 BTC , I will repay in 2 hours 1 btc .. escrow on: March 11, 2014, 05:39:02 PM
The two hours have long been up. Guess you don't need this loan anymore.

P.S If you want to scam us at least put some effort, right now it's so obvious even a baby with 0 IQ wouldn't fall for this.

my escrow   -  paypal

Do you have a form of collateral that can't be charged back?
1499  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3 x 2013 1-BTC Casascius Coins on: March 11, 2014, 05:30:43 PM
Pretty expensive coin over there.. I can get them for 25% less
Your price is in-between the brass and the silver

That's fine with me Smiley  May I ask where you're pulling the quote from?  I definitely believe you, but I'm just curious.

Edit:  I'm aware it's a higher premium than what I've seen, though this offer may appeal to those who want a smooth transaction with a reputable member, good communication, a worry- and hassel-free experience, or who may want more than one at a time.  In any case, the price is reflective of my reluctance to let these go for cheap as I have little doubt their premiums will only continue to rise.  Your opinion may be different.
1500  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [WTS] kncminer Saturn, 4 X Antiminer & 4X Block Erupter Blades on: March 11, 2014, 05:28:09 PM
I got offers of for saturn about 4btc i would give it if its 5 BTC

I offer 1.3 BTC for the Saturn.

My advice:  Take the 4 BTC and run with it.  You could turn around and buy 4 brand new Antminers and get 800 gh/s with warranty coverage.
