1  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain wallet minimum password length in 2013 on: September 06, 2021, 06:59:25 PM
Super helpful, thank you.

Any idea about the minimum password length by chance?

I found this:

As of January of 2018, Blockchain.info enforces the following requirements on new accounts:

- Passwords must be at least 10 characters long
- Certain strings (“1234567890”, “abcdefghij”, the same letter repeated 10 times) are not allowed

This appears to be largely the same set of criteria that the company required in January of 2012, when they wrote: “We require a password of at least 10 characters in length to ensure that even if our database is compromised your wallet will remain secure.”

At the risk of stating the obvious, this means that whatever password you chose for your Blockchain wallet is at least 10 characters long.

Update: However, in February of 2021 we discovered a 2017 Blockchain password that was only 9 characters long. So, if your Blockchain password was created earlier than January of 2018, a shorter password length is possible.

Try to email Dave from WalletRecoveryServices. He has been dealing with all types of wallets since 2013, so he may be able to give you a more accurate answer.

Thanks! I also found this same information previously.  I’ve spoken with Dave before about this wallet, I’ll reach out to him again.

The 12-word seed phrase (which is BIP39) is given to users after their upgrade in 2016.
Wallets created before that upgrade didn't have that kind of recovery phrase. Instead, they had a recovery phrase including 16-17 words that isn't supported by any other wallet.

3) If so, were these 12 words given to you, or did the user have the ability to choose them?
The seed phrase is generated by the wallet.

Super helpful, thank you.

Does anyone know the following:

1) Did Blockchain wallet have a minimum character password length requirement in 2013?  (I believe it’s 10 words now.)

2) Was the 12-word recovery phrase mandatory in 2013?

3) If so, were these 12 words given to you, or did the user have the ability to choose them?

Thanks!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Help Requested - Question about old Doge address on: January 29, 2021, 04:46:13 PM
Context: I have some old Doge wallet.dat files from 2013-2014.  Last night, I spent some time dumping the private key from one of the addresses using the newest version of Dogecoin Core and importing it into a new Multidoge wallet.  Everything seemed to work correctly, and Multidoge recognizes the receiving address corresponding to the private key that I imported.

Problem: However, one thing is puzzling me.  Although it isn’t synced, Dogecoin Core is showing a list of old transactions from my old wallet file.  When I tried to enter one of the addresses corresponding to these transactions into the Doge Blockchain, it yields a result that shows the address has no transaction history whatsoever.  No balance, no coins sent/received, 0 transactions.

What could be happening here?  I haven’t been much paying attention for the past few years, but was there ever a hard fork or something where the entire pre-fork blockchain was abandoned somehow?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

I just realized that in the time this thread has been around, I've performed 3,000+ hours of clinically supervised work, tested for and received a clinical license, started private practice work, and (hopefully) changed dozens of lives for the better.

Meanwhile...flat-earth contributions?

Me thinks time is better spent on other things.

Why so many words. Just put a plain and simple statement. I've been successfully indoctrinated by the religion of monkey man science to believe it.

Blinded by that science bonus material: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmCE8GhTi-M

EDIT: In a fairy tale of course you can prove spinning ball earth with that science, no doubt. But point is that flat earth reality destroys it and you should wake up.
What is it with flat earthers calling everyone monkeys? or monkey man science? you sound brainwashed when you talk like that. like how scientologists sound.

But anyway.
can you prove Flat earth with logic? NO
Can you perform tests/experiments to support your claims? NO
Is their sound reasoning behind your claims? NO
Do you try to counter argue to expand your knowledge? NO

But i can prove my beliefs with logic, tests, sound reasoning, and valid arguments.

your belief was popular with Socrates but then it was completely disproved by Aristotle. ever since then the debate was closed. there is no point in trying to make up reasons to believe in it with fringe reasoning.

The best you can do is say that it is your belief, and YOUR reality. and that you cant prove it but you believe it. then turn it into a religion. because that it what those are for.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Among most conspiracy theorists, providing evidence contrary to their beliefs will only make their beliefs stronger, and this is usually proportional to how good the counter-evidence is.  If it doesn't make them think the first time, it likely never will.

That being said, they're already paying for their mindset in real life, and how much they pay is proportional to both the time spent and how public they are with it (e.g. are they just sharing their beliefs anonymously, or are they sharing them with friends, family, coworkers, etc.?).  The more they dive into the conspiracy, the more it will take a toll on their social success, financial success, and overall life satisfaction.

Well  I'm not impressed.

You do distinguish between science and technology do you? Try better next time or is it the joint the cause  Cheesy

Computers and the Internet are a product of scientific research.  Please don't insinuate that I smoke pot.  I don't.

Oh, yet another monkey man science fairy tale believer. Welcome to flat earth reality where your spinning ball earth indoctrination will be shattered.

Seeing a curvature when hiking?  Grin

Put your time for best use researching flat earth instead.

Says the guy typing on his monkey-man science computer connected to the monkey-man science Internet, researching flat Earth on YouTube (owned and operated by the evil Google corporation with a value estimated at over 20 times the annual budget alloted to the satanic NASA conspirators).

Quit repeating yourself, please.  We heard you the first several dozen times.

jesus christ, even in the old ages its a myth people thought it was flat.  people had the same mental capacity as now pretty much, Smiley

How do you know, where you there?

well for example, Eratosthenes in about 200BC calculated the size of the earth, the tilt axis of the earth, etc.

Don't forget to mention Errortosthenes' calculations also work for a flat stationary Earth with a small Sun orbiting 3,000 miles above!

Not if you introduce a third location, genius.

Capacity?  Probably.  Though now we see the Flynn Effect, i.e. an increase of about 15 IQ points in the general population in the past century or so corresponding with a rise in technology; tech is complex and forces us to think about things in complex ways and engage in more complex tasks.

Still, there's an upper limit to how well we can deconstruct and analyze complex situations, and most conspiracy theorists vastly overestimate how good they are at doing this (because they vastly underestimate complexity).

I was explaining how to levitate small objects with an electric field using a balloon. While atmospheric pressure is the force pushing an object up or down depending on its density, ultimately up and down is defined by the electric field in-between the dome and the ground.

...Dependent upon weight, not density.  We already know and can and have tested that all objects 'float' equally in weightless environments despite having varying densities.  How many times are you going to ignore this? Just watch a video of the inside of a vomit comet.  People wouldn't float around in the cabin during a zero-g maneuver if your idea was true because the air is less dense than people; it's a closed, pressurized cabin.  If you have the cash, take a ride yourself and bring a helium balloon with you; it, too, will float just like everything else in the cabin.

Urgent call to ALL Globots, explanation needed: 360° light issue on the globe model

Bonus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqwWDZta37k

For kicks on my lunch break, I watched 30 seconds of the first video.

I'm assuming the video is something about why it isn't dark at noon after 1/2 year, which is explained by the difference between sidereal and solar days which are (for simplicity) ~4 minutes apart.  Because ~4 minutes multiplied by (for simplicity) ~180 days = 12 hours, there's your explanation.

Next.

So why after 6 months you will be looking in the opposite direction at night but still see the same stars?

Some stars you see will be the same, but some won't, and how many stars are the same depends upon where you are.  The earth revolves around the sun and rotates on its (tilted) axis with a slight wobble. The earth isn't spinning on multiple axes, so some parts of the sky will always remain visible at night, particularly if you're closer to the poles.  At the poles, the night sky won't change much at all from season to season. Generally speaking, as you move farther away from the poles, the more variation there will be from season to season.

According to the school curriculum, and Wikipedia, the Earth has the shape of an oblate ellipsoid. Many perceive this information as an indisputable fact, and do not even try to check it in practice. Nevertheless, common skepticism still alive on our planet

If a person tries to argue on rational grounds that it is reasonable to be skeptical of an oblately-spherical Earth because they don't "check it in practice," then in order to be consistent he needs to be skeptical of a litany of other facts he hasn't personally verified.

Some examples may include: the existence of any country they haven't been to; molecules and atoms; bacteria; photons; his own mortality; any image/photo/video of any event they didn't personally witness; etc.

It's easy to see how consistent application of such extreme skepticism would be detrimental to him.

Plan a flight route that always flys the same directions on your compass. For example East. Then keep flying in that direction until you end up at your starting point.

The Earth is a flat disk (like the pizza pie) and the compass needle always points to the center (north). This being so, if you travel east or west you will eventually travel in a circle.

And again, here we have the claim that, despite all of the cutting edge technology available to us, not a single person has ever figured out how to travel in a straight line.

Random quote from YouTube:

Quote
The Trickie Dickie Show 1 month ago
It blows my mind for the past 15 months, I've been unable to convince even one person that I know, personally, that the earth is not a globe. I know some very smart people but they still can't understand any flat earth proof I show them. I've told everyone I know about the flat earth and I have been laughed at, I've been told that I need to see a shrink (several times) and my mother told me that it was a good thing my father is dead, so he can't see how his son turned out.
I even paid my 20 year old son and my sister to watch many hours of the best flat earth videos and I've shown anyone who would look at it, videos that I took with my own telescopic camera that clearly shows there is no curvature 11 miles across Tampa Bay. But still, I have never, in my entire life, spoken to even one person face to face, who believes  the earth is flat.
My girlfriend of 10 years can't accept that the earth is flat. She hasn't dumped me over this but we had to agree to disagree on this subject. She's a Christian and she's very smart. When I told her that the earth was flat, she read all of the Biblical scriptures that talk about the Firmament and the pillars of the earth, etc.and watched some flat earth videos but she still couldn't see it.
This HAS to be MORE than just cognitive dissonance. It must be a satanic spell. No other explanation makes any sense. I've never felt so alone in my whole life. I pray every day that God will allow someone I know see the truth, as he let me see it. But so far that hasn't happened.
I won't give up though. God woke me up so I would teach the truth to others. God bless anyone who's reading this comment and who still believes that the earth is a globe. God can work miracles. Just a few years ago, I didn't believe in the Bible and I believed that the earth was a ball.
-Mike U.

"No other explanation makes sense."

Surely being wrong isn't an explanation.

*Sigh*

"I've never felt so alone in my whole life."

Hopefully, this will teach him that there are consequences for having the arrogance to simultaneously think he is smarter than virtually everyone, and that the collective of humanity should discount the billions of man hours spent on scientific endeavors to satisfy his own personal lunacy created from all the hard "work" he did watching YouTube videos.  Indeed, look at what the "truth" has done for him.

Flat Earth theory as faulty with anomalies, and incorrect. As you mentioned with the 'hallway' things get smaller with distance. With Flat Earth theory the Sun (and Moon) should get smaller and smaller till it vanishes in the distance. The Sun doesn't; it disappears below the horizon at the same size it was when directly overhead. That's only possible with a spherical Earth. And, if the Moon and "Sun were the same size the Moon would appear much larger than the Sun during a solar eclipse and would block out the solar corona; that doesn't happen because the Sun is tremendously larger than the Moon and tremendously farther from Earth than the moon and only appears the same size due to perspective. Try to objectively analyze real data and concrete scientific and mathematical evidence for a spherical Earth at some point and you might learn something.

That's straight bullshit, sometimes it's much larger at sunset than when it's overhead. The atmosphere magnifies the Sun and Moon near the horizon.

Also perspective proves the earth is flat, you can see the Sun shrinking before disappearing past the vanishing point if you're at a high enough altitude to minimize atmospheric distortion and significantly increase the distance to the horizon.

The sun isn't actually larger at the horizon.  It's angular size doesn't change, your brain just thinks it does because it's near the horizon instead of overhead.  Taking measurements of the sun's angular size will confirm that the angular size is the same on the horizon vs. overhead, despite that it "looks" bigger when it's near the horizon.  Atmosphere doesn't have anything to do with this.  Ironically, this means it's a trick of perspective. Go figure.

If the earth was flat, wouldn't the sun set and rise at the same time for everyone?! You guys are fucking morons.

Do your own fucking research. Your ignorance is curable. Don't be a BADecker.

LMAO! that is hilarious, are you a flat head? or joking? funny as a joke but if you're going around telling that, that is incredibly sad and you need to go back to primary school. Also where is the Antarctic and south pole?

Pull your head out of your ass and do your own research, you fucking goof.

Start here:

Don't ask me any more questions. Research what I post or go fuck yourself.

PS; tell us where it is that SEA LEVEL becomes SEA CURVE so water can form a BALL. You can't, so fuck off.

You have so many sources on this shit, like you devote you life to it. You should really research the other end of the spectrum, because your head is so far up your own arse with this shit it's unbelievable. I recommend you take a break and travel or something and then you will realize how insignificant proving the earth is flat actually is. I mean why even lie about a flat earth?!?!

It's going to be rough for him.  He's already invested so much time in this belief that he stands to lose a lot (psychologically) if he admits he's wrong. It's one thing to admit you were fooled by intelligent, powerful people, and quite another to admit you were fooled by a bunch of idiots on YouTube.  One of the links he posted references a guy who drinks his own piss because of the "health benefits" and who calls himself "Allegedly Dave" because, well, how can he really know that he's Dave?  Oh boy.

Hopefully he keeps this to himself and doesn't go off in the real word telling his friends, family, and employers where he will stand to lose even more.
