1481  Bitcoin / Pools / Quick question about the fees included in found blocks, do pools pay us these? on: July 26, 2012, 12:12:37 AM
Hey, after I was thinking about SatoshiDice and the amount of fees that it is paying into the network, I was wondering if pools pay out those fees to users in found blocks, or do you have to solo mine to take advantage of that?

and when I try mine on the QT wallet, it says minerd needs to be in the same directory.  where do I find minerd?

1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Idea] Physical Bitcoin Mixing on: July 25, 2012, 03:46:09 PM
Why take a blank physical bitcoin and have everyone load it...  Why not have everyone take Casascius 1 / 5 / 10 BTC coins and put them all in a bowl, this way you could easily check the balances with the Casascius Bitcoin Analyser and be certain they are valid.  Then if anyone wants their BTC back at the end of the day, they can be handed a coin at complete random.
1488  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Installing AMD drivers ubuntu server on: July 25, 2012, 03:41:01 PM
something like

Code:
cd /home/user/Desktop/
wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run
chmod 755 amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run
chmod +x amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run
./amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run
sync
coldreboot

should work.  if you need a different version, just find the URL on AMD's site and substitute it.

to uninstall AMD drivers:

Code:
/usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh --force

1489  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: July 25, 2012, 03:31:05 PM
Why does the BAMT web interface show an error when I unplug the GPU from a monitor?

__.....__ .' ':, / __ _ __ \\ | |_)) || |_))|| | | \\ || | || | || _, | status.pl ||.-(_{} | |/ ` | ,_ (;|/) \\| {}_)-,||` \\;/,,;;;;;;;,\\|//, .;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;, ,;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;,// \\;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;,// ,';;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;' One of the BAMT tools has suffered a fatal error. Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at /usr/lib/cgi-bin/status.pl line 88. Defiled: Unable to record this travesty in the deathlog! Why?: Permission denied

I find a good practice is not to have a monitor connected at all.  Once you know the IP, format BAMT fresh, then just SSH in.  Bamt does wonky things when you unplug the monitor.
1490  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible that bitcoin will become unaffordable to use for micropayments? on: July 25, 2012, 04:51:19 AM
oh wow.  that's pretty snazzy.. answers my question!  I felt like the fees would get higher and higher as the years go by and eventually I would feel like Paypal with my mining rigs dealing transactions..

thx guys!
1491  Economy / Economics / Is it possible that bitcoin will become unaffordable to use for micropayments? on: July 25, 2012, 04:41:34 AM
Regarding transaction fees, right now the fee is pretty reasonable at the price of a bitcoin...  But if transaction fees go up (more sites like SatoshiDice flooding the network?) and the price of a bitcoin goes up (eventually, to like $100+ theoretically), then the transaction fees might get really high.  To send a BTC right now, you might pay like 0.0005 BTC I think, doesn't seem like much, but what if you wanted to send someone a really small integer, like 0.0005, you would pay like double in fees.  If a BTC is trading for $1000, that makes 0.0005 tx fee cost $0.50...  That's not much either, but you pay that on tiny transactions.  Sometimes I go to send a BTC, and I guess if there are multiple small bitcoin addresses that it needs to send from, and I pay a 0.01 fee.  If the network gets very congested and the BTC price goes up (like it's destined to do), won't it be unaffordable to send small amounts of money?

1493  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: July 25, 2012, 03:43:39 AM
laszlo I would offer to buy you a pizza, but I'm not based in the USA, so they might think I'm a prank caller.

If you don't get any other offers I might look into how to go about buying you one online.

Are you getting hungry or do you just like pizza ? Cheesy
OMFG.  I didn't notice until now, BUT THE PIZZAS WERE DELIVERED ON MY BIRTHDAY.  Excuse my shouting, but I think it's absolutely AWESOME.

Now if Toyota started accepting bitcoin....

...but actually, all we need is a dealership accepting bitcoin, then we could buy any car with bitcoin?

The page is down for me. Sad
Ah, if it's down that means we were doing something to the server.  It shouldn't have been down for more than a few minutes, just try again!

http://wtcr.ca/

up up up ^

7970 @ 69 BTC = > $611

get real !!
Ah, that was when BTC's were much lower.  I'll update that on Monday!

thanks.. It would be wise to stay on top of that or perhaps list the price in Dollars Smiley

Yea, we removed Paypal/CC functionality to stay Bitcoin-only, but I think we might integrate them back in there to encourage non-bitcoin-aware people into buying things.

Removed the 7970 promotional image and listing.  It was just a duplicate of the normal 7970 listing, which right now is around 64 BTC at current price.

Where can I download BAMT? The original site bamter.org is down, and the only link I found in this thread that isn't a 404 gives me a corrupt download.
BitcoinTrading.com's got your back.

Direct download.
