801  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free Bitcoin Sites *and* Free Newbie Lotto on: March 14, 2013, 07:29:46 AM
coinurl.com is not on the same server as opfab.

there was a power outage in the switzerland datacenter where opfab is.  we might just move it to a different server if they keep that up.

TERRIBLY sorry about the server slowness.  I have upgraded coinurl.com's server to over double the memory (now 32GB) and the hard drive was a 2TB now it's a 120GB SSD so it should be MUCH faster for the database.  new server should be live tonight, I got it mostly set up yesterday.  tried for days to tune our 16GB server but there are just too many requests for it to handle.

I am working with someone who will do a rewrite of the coinurl.com banner distribution code so we can handle 1000x more requests, I guess when the orig owner set it up he hadn't had resources in mind.

Thanks for the explanation.

CoinURL got it's server upgraded! Yay!

The 32GB in the server is amazing, so much headroom, and the SSD just made a world of difference.

Since the server writes to the database constantly, there were tons of tiny little writes coming in every second of every day, and the spinning disk could not keep up.  The SSD can handle very well with random reads and writes, so I think we can expect great performance for a long time!

803  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Early order BFL ASIC mini SC for 1500 USD on: March 08, 2013, 03:04:42 AM
I don't think the mini single was available at the start.  If so, you won't find an early order.

And offering 2x or 3x retail is not much compared to the 10x increase in BTC price.

If you are offering the same BTC that the devices cost originally, I would sell you my orders.

807  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: LiteCoin LONGPOLL detected a new block ....help? on: March 06, 2013, 08:33:22 AM
You really shouldn't be mining on a laptop anyway IMO.  Especially solo mining, you're crazy!

But it's not a bad thing to see that message.
808  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin to the Moon on: March 06, 2013, 06:02:41 AM
I can't wait until we can buy a trip to the moon for 1 BTC.  And I don't mean a purchase on Silk Road either.

Hehe, you guys are lucky! I wish I bought more...

Imagine if this happened to bitcoin, it would be like the price going from 6 to 30...

hard to imagine that happening

This guy obviously sold his bitcoins earlier than $30. Cheesy

Yup, hard to imagine, but in the cryptocurrency world, it does! Smiley

Now, going from $50 to $500?  Hard to imagine.  But watch..

Why don't you remove the link shortening thing?
It's only used for crap, earnings are extremely low and it completely kills the server.

Remove that, save a lot of money in a cheaper server, hire some designer, remove the 25% fee... Profit for everyone!

Fees reduced as soon as humanly possible.

Link shortening thing is actually more popular than the banner ads.  You'd be surprised.  If need be I'll upgrade to a larger server! Smiley

Bid is extremely low right now, traffic is nearing 800,000 impressions per day yet we are still seeking new advertisers!

1 suggestion:

no point having it just go to a 'not found' page.
818  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 28, 2013, 05:22:32 PM
Is this the only GLBSE IPO that ever accomplished anything?

I wouldn't be surprised.

Does anyone know if 'nefario' is currently a shareholder ?

I heard nefario owes asicminer a bunch of money still?
819  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 28, 2013, 05:16:55 PM
Got a dividend payment!  Excellent!  Thanks friedcat for putting this together, you rock!

If you can build an ASIC this good, can you build a time machine?  I need to go back in time and buy ASICMINER on GLBSE Smiley

G'nite!

There is no way anyone sane is going to run linux under windows in a VM..

I find it extremely handy to do just that.
