1501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your earliest Gambling Story? on: February 03, 2023, 12:20:05 AM
What's a good gambling story that you'd like to share? Hit the comments section! Thanks guys.

In my country casinos and gambling are prohibited, so I didn't have much contact with them early on.

But, I remember very well an afternoon I spent in the company of my uncle and my father... we were in a bar, with many pool tables, foosball, and there was also a "video game" with hypnotizing flashing lights Cool

I pestered my dad a lot to play there, I think I was like 12, and then he finally bought me some coins.
I confess that I was quite frustrated, because the toy seemed to be interesting, but it was very boring, I couldn't understand how to "play" and quickly my chips ran out.

I never saw that machine again, I think the police seized it, and it took me a few years to understand what a slot machine was.
1502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: February 03, 2023, 12:14:01 AM
Ugh, a bunch of politicians who sucks at their jobs and are dividing our country (the United States) like crazy.  As an independent I don't like any of the candidates, and that will make it difficult to bet on I think.  When it was Hilary Clinton versus Donald Trump I was absolutely positive that Hilary was going to win and put some bitcoin down on a bet, and as we all know that didn't happen.  So I'm not sure I'll be betting this race.  Just depends I suppose.

The disputes for the presidency of the United States of America have always had this history of being very accentuated and with great division among the population.
This is really not a good thing for a country, because the more divided it is, the greater the people's "temperamental" problems.

In a scenario that proves to be more favorable to a given candidate, the minority is already beginning to accept defeat before the elections, and when it arrives, spirits are more stable.
However, when there is a very fierce clash, the surprise is left for the last few moments and a large part of the population cannot accept defeat or it takes a long time to process it.

In the last US elections we saw vandalism, recently in Brazil, which also had a very close election (50.9% x 49.10%) there was also unprecedented depredation in the capital.

We hope that the upcoming US elections will be an example to the world and not another disappointment with scenes of vandalism.
1503  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Imóveis: Comprar ou alugar? on: February 02, 2023, 02:42:29 AM

1504  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Escassez digital, caso Yanomami e as formas de mineração on: February 02, 2023, 02:34:23 AM

1505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2023 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: February 02, 2023, 02:24:55 AM
Something very curious I read today about the main Brazilian football championship....
The Twitter profile @gerasofascore used artificial intelligence to recreate the 26 team mascots that will compete in the championship this year.
And they were really, really good.
In order not to pollute this topic too much, here is the link with the images:
https://extra.globo.com/esporte/mascotes-de-26-clubes...

Now, the next step would be to create NFTS with these characters, I think that would sell really well.

1st car of the Year for Haas.

We are almost there boys.

 Cool

This VF23 was really beautiful, which is how the new body model was called. It has a very innovative design bringing black as its main color in most of the car.

In fact, the American constructor has changed the car a lot compared to last season, leaving aside that homogeneous white for a beautiful combination of black, white and red.
Of course, all this change has a meaning, as the team's colors are directly related to the new master sponsor of the team, since before the car was inspired by a Russian supplier, but whose contract was broken in 2022 with the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

Has the Haas performance also changed radically?
1507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 02, 2023, 02:14:48 AM
The top 10 European countries in the FIFA world ranking are(in order): France, Belgium, England, The Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Germany.

I can easily see all of them qualify for the next world cup.

It was such a weird thing to not see Italy in Qatar, I'm sure they're going to be in the next one.

The 2022 cup was really very atypical, much more frustrating than seeing Italy not qualify (and for very little, not even Portugal), was seeing other favorite teams for the title being eliminated prematurely.

In 2026, in fact, there will be more space for the traditional teams that we know, and certainly all those from Europe will have to qualify, but I believe that the difficulty level will be even higher than the one we saw in the last world cup event, and I think that many more "surprises" await us.

Again, I believe it will be difficult for us bettors to make any money with the predictions of the next FIFA World Cup.

1510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: February 01, 2023, 01:54:09 AM
I think there is absolutely no pressure on Ferrari engineers considering they are basically not expected to be good anyway lol. Ferrari is known to be a team that has so much potential, so much money and then keeps making mistakes all the time to cause a loss. They had a very close chance with Vettel once, but luck would have it and they lost, and then last year wasn't that close but they had so much disappointment as well and many mistakes too.

These were not just engineers, but I am sure they are not expected to do that well neither. Red Bull for example has a lot more pressure, why? Because they are the champions back to back, and winning a third time is hard, and they are expected to do that.

In 2022, Ferrari started out proving to be very competitive, winning two of the first three races but, as the championship progressed, the problems presented by the team paved the way for Red Bull's dominance, ending in Max Verstappen's second championship and in the Taurine conquest. of the Constructors' Championship.

However, there are indications that the Maranello team should be faster in 2023 due to several factors... on Pirelli tyres, especially the front ones to reduce the excess front output, something that was seen a lot in 2022, among other details. I think we will see fewer mistakes from Ferrari in 2023.

Ferrari will present the successor to the F1-75 on February 14th, we'll see what's new.
1511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Being Lonely drives you towards Gambling....! on: February 01, 2023, 01:46:59 AM
Does anybody have this experience or this is happening with me. Most of my gambling losses have taken place when I feel lonely.
Today one such incident have taken place. I've kept my last few weeks signature earning aside to meet some medical needs. Today my mother got hospitalised and I'm her attender. She is supposed to take a minor surgery as her vision isn't clear. She's been taken to the Operation Theatre and I was left alone in the room. If anything required the nursing staff would call me. By thos time my mind didn't think about anything. All of the sudden why don't you gamble? and I started and made 0.009BTC close to 0.01BTC and the greed didn't left me. Finally lost all my month's earning kept aside.

In my country we have the following saying: "An empty mind is the devil's workshop".

When we're alone, we usually get out of our routine and often run out of things to do, it's in those moments that we fall into the temptation of doing what gives us the most pleasure, for some it might be gambling, for others it's social networks, pornography or games.

We usually only "disconnect" from the addiction when something calls us back, it could be physical exhaustion or zero bankroll.

Gambling needs to be well controlled, whether financially or in terms of time control, for the latter, there are several applications that help us to maintain control.
1512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your take on this crypto gambling use case idea? on: February 01, 2023, 01:36:59 AM
Do you think it makes sense if a crypto gambling platform only accepts it's own token for gambling and gambling on it's platform? If the games they offer are one-of-a-kind, new, and addictive wouldn't this make the gambling token very valuable? I am asking on behalf of a friend who wants to build his own crypto gambling project on the blockchain. Will this work? Will this fail? What's your take on this?

Well, looking outside of gambling, we had great successes like for example Axie Infinity, which had its own currency, despite running on the Ethereum platform, but even so in the end it lost practically all its value.

Not to put you off, but casinos have a much more segmented niche and no matter how good the games are, users want to be able to easily make deposits and withdrawals without having to convert their funds.
Loquity and security are paramount, I find it difficult to get such an innovative service that can counterbalance these requirements.
1513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: February 01, 2023, 01:29:57 AM
The biggest issue here would be who the republican candidate will be. I keep saying that Trump would have a very hard time winning, but USA would face 4 years of Biden as well, which would be not so great for Biden, a sad fact for USA. It is a shame for the choices to be these old idiots, but at the very least one will win. However, if DeSantis gets the nomination? Lets see how it will be when it gets closer.

In fact, but I still believe Trump is the overwhelming favorite to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, even though DeSantis is rising in national profile, he is unlikely to catch up with Trump

According to the latest poll taken by the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll and released by The Hill, 48% of Republican voters said they would support Trump for the nomination, while only 28% would support DeSantis. He's up a mere 3 points, still a long way from catching up with Trump.
Trump definitely managed to maintain his popularity, although DeSantis' strength is well recognized, he is far from representing any risk to Trump's candidacy.

Does anyone here know of any site that accepts bets on these preliminary injunctions?

1515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 30, 2023, 12:27:03 AM
Arsenal have started to spend quite a lot of money recently. After increasing their potential in the Premier League they want to play as big as possible.

Arsenal have offered 70 million pounds for Moises Caicedo while Brighton are insistent on 80 million. I expect them to reach an agreement in the middle. Actually Arsenal were said to have a less transfer budget than the amount they offered but it looks like the case is the opposite. Arsenal are doing their best not to secure only the Champions League but also the Premier League title. They have done a very good job about that so far.

Very crazy that, Brighton refused an offer of 68 million euros, they definitely do not intend to sell the 21-year-old player in this transfer window, since, with the sales of Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, Neal Maupay to Everton and Leandro Trossard to Arsenal itself, they have a good amount of money in their pockets, it is not prudent to have more casualties in their squad since money is not an issue for now.

However, Arsenal, which is the current leader of the Premier League, needs to hire in midfield, nothing urgent, this was a long-term goal, but with the injury of midfielder Mohamed Elneny, the movements intensified and with that, Caicedo passed to be the target of the London club, which runs out of time, since, in England, the deadline for transfers is January 31.

I'm sure Arsenal will make a new investment for the player, will they offer the 80 million?

1518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2023 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: January 29, 2023, 01:06:41 AM
Wow, this is nice  Shocked
Maybe it's because of the level of all teams, in Brazil we have more than 10 teams who are capable of win the national championship, while other countries have 3 or 4

Exactly, and to complement this analysis, we can also mention the fact that the best soccer players (in quantity, not just the best) are Brazilians, making Brazil the country that most "exports" players, followed by France and Argentina.
The information was obtained from a study carried out by the "CIES Football Observatory" which monitors 135 football leagues around the world.

Returning to the subject of the topic, and complementing your information....

In fact, it's impossible to predict at this moment with any guarantee who will be the winner of the Brasileirão.
They say that after the half of the championship it is already possible to say that, but it is still a tournament that has a lot of "rotation" of winners.
We have many very good teams, in fact the Brasileirão is an extremely difficult championship.
1519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 29, 2023, 12:55:46 AM
What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

Yes, he is absolutely right.
Today access to gambling consists of taking your hand in your pocket and unlocking a device, so in less than 2 minutes you are already betting.
Cryptocurrencies have also made addictions much easier, as it is currently much easier and less bureaucratic for you to move funds from your self-custodial wallet to your online casino account than worrying about withdrawals or withdrawal limits at conventional banks.

However, we must remember that online casinos, when well chosen, are much safer compared to physical casinos. In addition to other benefits that are not discussed here.

So, quickly answering your question: Yes, they become addictive faster, but for those who know how to control themselves, there is only advantage in using them.
1520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there gambling games/sports that suits a particular gender the more? on: January 29, 2023, 12:51:10 AM
Just like TV station shows, where we have certain shows or movie series that are designated or referred to by some set of people are feminine shows or series. For example, in my own part of the world where I come from, TV station like Telemundo, Telnovelas etc. They're mostly regarded as TV stations meant for the feminine.
Now bringing this home as it concerns gambling, I ask, you as a gambler are there gambling games or sports that you think that such gambling games or sports are supposed to be mostly engaged in by a particular gender (as it suits such gender more),  and why?
Mind you am not saying that gambling is gender-centric in anyway.

Honestly, I think it's very wrong to say that men or women prefer certain games more, it depends a lot on each person's personality, regardless of their gender.
To cite a good example, I believe many of you must know Vanessa Selbst....

Professionally, she has a degree and works in law at Yale, but she is a woman who became known as "the legend of poker" in a time not too distant from today, a sport that, according to statistics, has 95% of the spots in their tournaments filled by men.
Vanessa played 12 years as a pro before retiring in 2018, not before winning no fewer than 3 World Series of Poker titles. She ultimately managed to amass over $12 million in prize money.

The preference of gambling games has no gender, they are chosen based on the personality and skill of each player.
