Have problem with 7870 rig - any time i start miner i have drivers crash. tried to lower threads - same result

1. Install Catalyst v13.12.
2. Disable overclocking.
3. Reboot computer.

He might also want to use the AMD Driver Clean Up Utility: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx

That's insane...air or water cooled?

Air cooled

Dont care for water, tried it in college and became too much of a pain in the ass.

Though i do have an extra 80 MM blowing on it from the front, a 120MM blowing on it from the side, 2 PCI Slot coolers top and bottom of the card to pull heat away and a 120 MM above this near the CPU blowing out.

Still pretty quite too.

How many blocks and 10-ch have you gotten in 24 hours?

I'll give a try with those clocks...

Water cooling is great with running multiple cards in a close case. Single card, not so much.

I was able to squeek a few more CPD

Few more MHZ on the gpu clock and a small increase on the voltage to make sure it was stable. Only went up 2C

What's your clocks for the core and mem?
1504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Most Energy Efficient Coins? on: April 13, 2014, 06:48:38 AM
Anyone do a test for Scrypt-OG? It boasts that it is 8x less memory intensive than Scrypt. Wonder how that fairs to Groestl, X11, and others.

Code:

With my r9 280x + hd 7970 I consume less power from the wall with X11 then in Groestl.

Groestl consumes an average of ~415 Watts from the wall giving 15.12Mh/s
while x11 cunsumes an average of ~370 Watts, giving 4.8Mh/s

(with optimal miner parameters for the cards and athalon II X2 270 cpu+4GB memory)
(all measured with a power consumption device plugged into the wall power socket.)

So the conclusion is X11 is more power efficient than Groestl!

just did the test for scrypt-og aka nfactor 6,
with same hardware as before, I get 8.04Mh/s and consume an average of ~448W

so X11 is most efficient.

Cool. Still better than Scrypt, Scrypt-N and Script Jane. About Keccak and Skein energy consumption.

My miner isn't working anymore after changing drivers from 14.3 to 14.4 and back to 13.9 last night...

Any tips? Do I need an updated license?

Did you try the AMD clean up utility?
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx

14.3 works well, about the same as 13.12 for me.

Anyone get power readings for this algo? Just curious how this ranks with X11 and others.

Primecoin GPU miner ver. 1.03
-----------------------------
Mining time: 12.22 hours
Est. Average Chains Per Day (CPD): 1.72
Est. Spot    Chains Per Day (CPD): 1.68

Wow. What's you hardware (GPU/CPU)?
What version of Catalyst do you have?

I have a brand new ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121803

OC Settings are

GPU Core 1196
GPU Voltage 1182
Mem 6900
Power target 110%
55% fan speed
Rock solid at 73C

My CPU is a I7 4770K

I am using the -CPU=9 flag. 20% cpu usage.

Cat 13.9 Drivers

I have the exact same card. How do you enter these settings?

Download GPU tweek from the ASUS website.

That's crazy with 1.72 CPD, did the same clock core and memory, and it didn't move from 1.55 CPD.

its not always about core/mem clocks some gpu are just more eff than others same with mem and latency eg  no 2 same model cards are going to have the same speed at same clocks

this rule goes for any silicon chip asics too

it about where it was cut from the wafer center chips will use less power where outer will use more if you use gpu-z it will show you asic quality

plus there are other factors here as in mobo cpu ram etc

same with cpu's the cache speed and latency can make a world of difference its not always about size
usually chip that have big amount run slow latency timings

True, just like cars, 1 out of 5 is usually the better performer per batch of cars.

The 280x does have a slightly better memory system than the 7970's, but not by much. Core's are basically the same.

When are the fiat markets coming online?
1511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best motherboard for mining on: April 11, 2014, 04:06:21 PM
I used only Asrock motherboards. Extreme 3 and 4 work well with 4 GPUs. But now you can purchase the Asrock BTC series which are made for mining. Those can handle 5 even 6 GPUs at once if you manage to set them up correctly in Windows 8.

Is there an AMD equivalent to Asrock BTC series? Is there another company that makes something similar to Asrock BTC series? I like the two molex power connectors for the PCI-Express.

At least I know now that its just my UNluck for the last days and someone is actually able to find blocks still.

Just to report - using the same settings as before - but I got my longest run for nothing right now Smiley its been around 59 hours sinc I found any block with my two 280x Toxics and I found only 3 10-chains since...

I hit 5 10-ch and 5 blocks after 30.47 hours. This is just with one MSI Twin Frozr III HD7970 OC BE at 1150 mhz core/1500 mhz memory.

Is that a beta driver or the driver that came with the cd with the graphics card?

That's pretty high for gpu mem clocks.

mined for a full 26 hours and i got nothing. im starting to regret using htis miner. i set cpuusage back to 9 and im going to try again...im thinking that may have been the problem. but its going to be an even bigger problem if my single r9 280x cant pay off the license (i was only able to afford 1 license).

There's a little luck that is involved.

Here's my last 28 hours of mining: https://plus.google.com/photos/117233004469758429824/albums/6001039204049246945?authkey=CNSzxrK-9cvnLw

Great news...glad you sorted that out.

Thanks guys everything working so much better. Got so lucky over the evening

ypool is dead?

i can't connect it

This could be a good reason to at least make the miner work with other pools. Solo mining would be a nice option to add too.
1516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: April 11, 2014, 02:31:31 AM
has anyone tried this under wine?  I failed - missing opencl.dll which makes sense but I'm not sure how to fix it or whether it can be fixed.  I don't think you can install the windows AMD drivers through wine CLI but i might be wrong

Wine emulates windows and the graphics driver are emulated, unless they revised it where it communicates directly to the Linux driver.

I have 3 280x cards with i5 processor and I get 115k 4ch and on other rig I have also 3 280x card but with amd sempron 145 processor and with -ss 1 I get 75k per card. Is there any way to improve it. Like changing some parameters?

I dont get those who put -nofee 1, really cheap. And you still come here for advice? Thats the people who ruin crypto.

Personal experience,  you need at least a quad core cpu to run properly. Since the miner runs default of 4 threads.

Still think a pool is a good idea..Thats 8 290x on that pool for 10 hours with claymores, and i must say, amazing new miner,......"WISH IT WAS SOLO" so i cant wait for pgpu's answer to claymores pool miner..it should be epic

Primegpu miner is still faster, but the other miner is pretty close.

I mine about 2 blocks every 24 hours with just one 7970.
1519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: April 10, 2014, 06:15:45 PM
v2.0 is nearly on par with the other miner. When is the next optimized miner coming out?
1520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is GPU hobby-mining dead? on: April 10, 2014, 06:13:48 PM
you know you can always shut down your rig, and go fuck some girls

+1 on humping females, but you can leave the rig on still...LOL
