What's innovative about this coin, other than being another X11 clone? What's the target group and marketing for this? What is going to be the max number of coins to be produced?

Anyone test out the power consumption of this algo? I don't have any Kill-A-Watt meter at hand at the moment.

bit less than regular scrypt.

usually my rig uses 530, with aiden it's 445 right now. so not that much..

I though so, because my temps are still very close to normal scrypt.

I guess I'll mine this for a little bit, then go back to an X11 algo or another lower power consuming algo.

Any advice?

Assume you use catalyst 13.12. If driver crashes - don't overclock card. It may work for other coins but XPM mining involves a lot of complex algorithms and card may fail at same clocks.
yes using 13.12 drivers
only overclocked few hours ago...even more stable than before oc.  Undecided I assume that mixing cards is may main problem for driver crashing. Using gtx770 as primary card. The 270s are on risers(1on 16x>16 and the other on usb 1x>16x)

Best to stay with one model type. Mixing can complicate with driver issues.

Only overclock if you system is tested stable enough to do it. I have Arctic Cooling Accelero Extreme 7970 that keep my gpu core way cooler than the stock MSI Frozr III cooler.
1565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 290x on: April 07, 2014, 08:52:29 PM
Is it a reference card? If so, I might be able to get you about 1MH/s on it. I've reached 1080kh/s on my Sapphire 290X (reference) with Hynix memory.

Yep. Its a reference.

Try these settings first:

intensity: 20
thread-concurrency: 32765
gpu-engine: 920
gpu-memclock: 1500

This should net you 882kh/s. Let that settle for a while and see how you go.

After a while of that, try changing gpu-engine to 1025. If you've got Hynix RAM you'll get close to 1MH.. Elpida OTOH will slow down (if that happens, stick with 920)

I try your settings, but have not results. See the picture.

Your TC setting is low for a 290/290x card. Plus some times the card likes gpu thread of 2. I your case, it just looks like a low TC.

I use your recommendation. Miner rate up. (+15%)

You need these in your config or bat file:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

i have seen that the 14.3 beta 1 drivers are way faster than the 13.12 for the 290x even though we have that error that happens right before it starts

I have no issues with 14.3, seems to be pretty stable for a beta driver.
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was this forum always like this? on: April 07, 2014, 07:04:36 PM
About 3 months ago, when you started, the Altcoin subforum had pretty much already gone to shit.

Prior to about November of 2013, it was a much cooler place to hang out.  New coin ANN's were much less frequent, and there were far fewer trolls.

Personally, I think it's all DOGE's fault.  DOGE taught the world that a cute, catchy name & meme and nothing else can become a wildly popular coin.  It sorta opened the floodgates for shitcoins to start pouring in like crazy.

It actually used to be worse.  You should have seen it before they banned the giveaway/promo threads.  Holy hell.

I caught the tail-end of the giveaways here. I actually think giveaways are fine, if they were stuck in their own subforum. Having them in the main thread was never a good idea though.

And I was speaking more as to actual discourse, rather than the over-abundant number of coins being released. That is a problem too, which I would think a little forum moderation could help clean up (subforum for brand new alts, secondary forum for alts on major exchanges)? That sort of thing would at least help organization a bit.

But to me, the biggest surprise was the number of  trolls, fud and overall lack maturity from many in this forum.

When I first join last June, I was shocked by that too. People putting each other down. Scam this, scam that. So on....

These type of people need to learn to listen first, analyze logically, then form a valid response within civility, and be humble; right or wrong.

I just ignore someone who insults me on the first response, because that will end up just being time wasted. I don't mind a constructive and positive progressive argument.
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was this forum always like this? on: April 07, 2014, 06:51:54 PM
There is something I have been wondering about... has this forum always been the way it is now? I am somewhat new to cryptos, as I started about 3 months ago. I don't have much invested and am doing this mostly for fun, or with the approach if I do ever make a decent amount, my odds are about the same as winning a lottery. Anyway, when I stumbled across this site, I first expected it to be very very different than it is now.

I thought there would be analytical talk about cryptocurrency from economists. I expected some financial analysis, perhaps some theory discussed. But instead, we have... well, what we have.

There is basically no forum moderation whatsoever. The number of alts run rampant with no organization at all, trolls run free in the streets, scammy behavior all over, and quite often the level of discourse is about what you'd expect from a 14 year old.

Was it always like this? I am not for centralization or more control over cryptos in general, so don't mistake my post as meaning I want greater control or censorship. I just would like to see a better forum here. And those who scream 'scam' the loudest, spread fud all over, are probably doing more harm than many scammers. Just checking the forums today I see such nuggets of wisdom such as this:

Quote
oh yeah Jefferey dahmer did a great job injecting hydrochloric acid or boiling water into the skulls of his victims to turn them into sex slave zombies
and was a great at keeping severed penis's, torso's and heads in his freezer.. he was so good at he got away with it for years !
so i guess he deserved to get away with it and so does every other guy that comes along right ?
"amazing" work eh ? yaaaaaaaaaaa

ohh yeah i looooove your logic buddy ahahhahhahaa

omygod you people are fucked in the head seriously

Has the falling price of cryptos driven everyone insane here? Or were they always like that?

You have to remember that alot of tech heads are not the greatest economists, otherwise we would all be rich. LOL

Another thing, there will always be troll, drama queens, narcissist and people that just think with too much emotion with no logic behind it.

Let me guess, that was Spoetnik huh? Just sounds too much like him. LMFAO....I mostly ignore him, he has a insult first mentality and likes to stroke his ego...Half of the time I'm in a discussion in a topic with him, he call me a moron or idiot...LMFAO

I think this way personally: Logical reasoning, validation and humbleness, emotions are last in line. Confident, but not a show off and/or be an a$$ about it.... Cool

Could be many things, but first check your conf is the same as others that are successful mining the coin. Then check if the stratum of the network of the pool is working ok. Are you using SPH miner?
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: April 07, 2014, 04:10:49 PM
Good news, I got my 7970 running around 660 avg for the total round time at 1200mhz core overclock. That's about 17.5% improvement from stock speeds and running stable. The 280x should do about the same or slightly better.

I prepare another update with good speed imrovements, must be ready in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the hard work and great communication with the community. You are greatly appreciated.  Cool

http://adntest.minebig.com/

Registration is open, mining hasnt started yet.

I'll send some hashrate there to test fix. Can i ask what the fix was?

Rolled back the last block and decreased the amount an attacker can raise the difficulty.

I see the blocks are moving on the test pool. Will this fix be implemented on the other pools? The test pool isn't going to create a fork is it?

So, the 4ch is just used for sampling?

Yes, just to get some stats quickly. It is more objective than "m" numbers.

Understood, I figured it was.

v1.5 released, improved nonce ranges, must help for people who sees "nonce overflow" messages.

Can speed up?  Grin
Actually v1.5 seems slower, I was around 99k and for the moment I get only 96k

My total round time improved, now it's around 729~740. This is on a MSI Twin Frozr III HD7970 OC BE.

I overclocked the gpu core to 1200mhz, now I'm getting a total round time of 657~665. That's about 10% to 15% faster total round times. Seems to be running way more faster.

Hi,

I would like to try this on a rig with 2X 280x so I need 2 licence i suppose?

I have a celeron cpu on this rig, will I be able to reach max performance of my 2 280x?

You need better processor to achieve max performance. i5+

Even a AMD Phenom I or Phenom II or Core2 Quad is better than a Celeron. Or even a 1st gen Core i5.

Has anyone tested out if overclocking/underclocking the core clock and/or memory on gpu's have any impact on performance?

Underclocking memory doesn't impact perf much if at all...core speed needs to be maxed out (as much as thermals and stability permit)
Cpu core clock doesn't do much, I was at 4ghz and have better perf at 3.6ghz (stock).

Stability is more important, and a good ISP and low latency.

I notice that overclocking the gpu core gives the biggest performance gain. I overclocked to 1200mhz core and it's stable.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: April 07, 2014, 02:48:17 PM
Is there going to be a future implementation to only do 7ch and up only, totally remove the 4ch?

Why do you want it? 4ch allows you to see performance quickly. To get some stats for 7ch it's necessary to wait at least an hour.

So, the 4ch is just used for sampling?
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: April 07, 2014, 02:28:56 PM
I hope all of you have read readme.txt Smiley So after 24 hours you will not see good XPM value in your ypool account, it is because it takes up to 24 hours to get good mining speed. But when you drop mining you will get coins for the same time, so mining is fair. To get earning rate immediately after first 24 hours of mining you need to open "stats" tab on ypool and select "blocks found", then click on latest block number that pool found and find your name in the list of all accounts. See the XPM rate that you get per this block. Then open "overall pool stats" tab and see the number of blocks that pool found for 24 hours. Now multiply your block rate by this number of blocks and you will get average earning that you will get within next 24 hours. If you don't like such calculations you can just remember XPM that you got after 24 hours (A) of mining and then wait another 24 hours and check XPM again (B), then calculate earning for last 24 hours as B - A.
And yeah, it's not too fast and easy to calculate XPM profit Smiley

Is there going to be a future implementation to only do 7ch and up only, totally remove the 4ch?

Can anyone explain about Immature Mined Block ?

I found a block but it said immature.

That's fine, it just needs to get confirmed by the network after a certain number of block pass after finding it.
1580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Primecoin GPU miner: up to 1.4 chains / day on a single 280x on: April 07, 2014, 03:41:38 AM
starting to feel pretty pointless soloing on just 2 280x @ this point i'd be happy to find a 10chain just to know the latest version is working... stats seems good but yeh i'm about ready to throw in the towel here.

That's the down side of solo mining when a coin is too high in diff, luck/chance is low. At least with a pool, the luck is distributed more equally and with the help of the pool of miners combine hash power.

I haven't pulled in a 10-ch and/or a block for the past 28 hours. Even though the stats are better in the latest miner and the diff has changed a bit for the past couple of days.
