2.5.6 is the latest version. As far as I remember, this was just an UI update with darker theme. 2.5.5 is technically the same and still available on dreamwatcher's google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B0wumNRRq9LNbWo1cnF1YnhsR1U (if you trust it).

this 2.5.5.0
https://hostr.co/nKaaJAIsVXBS
Yes, that's the version I'm using since... forever.

The last block I've received was created on: Thursday, 18. January 2018 22:11:50 GMT.

Wird Kraken eigentlich Bitcoin Gold (BTG)oder Bitcoin diamond (BCD) adden ?
https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013895208-General-statement-on-forks-Bitcoin-Gold-BTG-etc-

164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] "Cubits"(QBT) HI POS Coin v2.1.3-Starbuck UPDATED! on: January 12, 2018, 02:02:28 PM

We made it to $0.02 on coinmarketcap today wooohhooo!

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/cubits/

Yep that was an epic run but looks like it's over. Personally didn't think QBT would ever see 10+ cents and 30+ BTC volume. The whale manhandled it.

Well, a whole BTC volume is not that bad. We had weeks with next to nothing. Btw. does anybody know if and how we could get the "Circulating Supply" figure updated? This would enable the "Maket Cap" display and increase our "Ranking". Not that these figures would matter, but a pump like the last one might catch more eyes. Wink
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] United SciFi Coin [SCIFI] PoW/PoS on: January 09, 2018, 09:36:06 PM
Password given in Config file is required or i can change ? Is that for mining or something else ?

Is there any Bootstrap available for Blocks ?
The password is mandatory, an unique password will be created during first wallet launch (on Windows). Sure, you can change it! It's used for RPC calls, e.g. for miners, yes.

As of now, the SciFi blockchain is not that big, ~ 38 MB. You should be able to download it in a matter of minutes (there are plenty nodes). In case you really, really need a bootstrap.dat - let me know, I can upload it to mega.nz. Smiley
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] United SciFi Coin [SCIFI] PoW/PoS on: January 08, 2018, 04:56:42 PM
@vampirus
Yeah, guess I've checked the Cubits repo on github, not the SciFi repo... silly me! Recompiled both and they are doing fine, thank you! Smiley

@PACIFICADOR
The SciFi community donated more than you've lost. What a nice and warm place to stay! Cool
167  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: January 08, 2018, 04:08:43 PM
In theory is it possible to recover BTC sent to Bitfinex BCH wallet?

I know there is recovery options with own wallets, i believe Bitfinex should also have generated wallet seed somewhere

I have tx and all related information.

So does Bitfinex support could help me? ...
You're spot on. In fact Bitfinex support is the only place to go. Bitfinex will have the private key for your BCH deposit address and can 'recover' your BTC by importing the same private key into their BTC wallet. This will involve various 'support levels' (the person answering emails will not have access to any private key) and manual work + busy times at the moment for support staff in cryptoland = it will take some time, but there is hope.

Not sure about Bitfinex... but some exchanges ask for a 'recovery fee' as there is some work involved. Let us know if they ask for something like this, would be interesting.

i posted also on reddit and found that a lot of other users have experienced the same situation, in most cases it is only a matter of time because they are literally inundated by this type of requests
Guess it's a opportunity to take a break from cryptoland until the support is catching up. Undecided Crossing my fingers they will reset your 2FA soon!
168  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: January 08, 2018, 01:26:46 PM
same situation here ... my phone have had hardware failure and i wasn't aware that google does not backup codes on auth app...
...
anybody can help here?
Not really, but... As far as I remember there is a hint on some exchanges, you should backup the QR-code they show you during 2FA-setup. Maybe you have a backup somewhere and just don't remember?
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] United SciFi Coin [SCIFI] PoW/PoS on: January 05, 2018, 03:07:52 PM
@PACIFICADOR

Just use the addnode setting with IP-adresses from vampirus' list, like:

Code:
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=donotshare1eleven
rpcport=8464
#(0=off, 1=on) daemon - run in the background as a daemon and accept commands
daemon=0
#(0=off, 1=on) server - accept command line and JSON-RPC commands
server=0
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
addnode=107.161.22.130
addnode=51.15.162.24
addnode=107.202.60.192
addnode=51.15.130.151
# add additional nodes from the list!

etc.

To avoid manual work, you could copy&paste the lists provided by
http://cryptoguru.tk/NetworkInfo/index.php?Currency=SCIFI
or
https://lpool.name/explorer/peers?id=1855

Cheers!

@vampirus
Btw. I've updated my node to the latest version from github (some days ago, after the new version was announced) and it still shows up as version 1.0.0.1. I noticed now new commits fom 12 hours ago, should I update again? Just asking as I see some nodes with version 1.0.1.1 in the list.

@Cryptoguru.tk
Great news, thank you! Smiley

I would go with Option D: All cash claimed settled immediately, and BTC claims settled later in full (100% of BTC value, 1BTC=1BTC), with the option for individual creditors to easily sell their claim anytime or cash out at current BTC recovery rate.

Think it's not possible? Think twice.

Er denkt also mittlerweile darüber nach, unsere verbummelten BTC wieder herauszurücken. Die Geschichte mit den pösen russischen Haggern hat also nicht gefruchtet? Roll Eyes

Ripple is actually quite decentralized nowadays. You can inform yourself here: https://ripple.com/dev-blog/decentralization-strategy-update/  And now to totally piss you off: what do you think about this:
https://i.imgur.com/UMosX0E.png ?

Is this 'not' centralized?
Ok, that was funny. You can't even mine this XRP stuff. With other words your pie chart for 'XRP Ledger' would show 100% Ripple Lab Inc. You mix things up. And yes, next time use at least a pie chart with current data...

Well, if you want to call mining a prerequisite for determining whether one could speak of centralized or decentralized, then I think we are done talking.
The hard cold fact remains that any 'decentralization' within BTC died as soon as ASICS were introduced.  And honestly, I think you know this as well - but consciously decide to ignore this.

A few large mining farms in the BTC sphere working together can  pretty much do what they want. If you still want to call that decentralized, go right ahead.
You brought the mining topic up to show us 'believers' how 'decentralized' your favorite altcoin is. I personally don't like the current level of BTC mining 'centralization' or 'decentralization' but prefer it to more centralized chains (e.g. VerWuCoin) or premined business models (e.g. XRP)... Not sure what separates the last from a central bank. Roll Eyes If you prefer a central bank token, stay with Ripple Lab Inc.

Or may be because wallet encrypted, try:
walletpassphrase <passphrase> <timeout> [mintonly]
for example
walletpassphrase 123qwerty 10000000 true
that's right, I just added a purse two days ago
If you have fresh coins, do not forget split inputs to optimal size 1000-2000 QBT
I do not know how to split inputs, help
I don't have the wallet in front of me at the moment, but something like this:

1) Enable Coin Control
- go to 'Settings' -> 'Options' -> 'Display'
- check 'Display coin control'
- confirm with 'OK'

2) Select the inputs you want to split
- open 'Send', open 'Inputs'
- here you can see all inputs (transactions sent to your wallet), there should be at least one (the amount you received some days ago)
- select the inputs you want to split (e.g. all inputs with a balance > the mentioned 1000 to 2000 QBT)
- copy one of the input addresses (we will send the selected coins later to this address)
- confirm with 'OK'

3) Split the inputs
- back in the 'Send' dialog, check 'SplitBlock'
- you can now enter the number of 'blocks' you want to generate (the term 'blocks' might be confusing, it's the number of outputs/new inputs you want to create) - let's say your input(s) contain(s) 10000 QBT and you want to split them to new inputs with the mentioned 1000 QBT, you should enter 10, because 10000 / 1000 = 10

4) Send your QBT
- paste the address from 2) into the 'Pay To:' field
- copy/paste or enter the amount from 'After Fee' (this should display the amount of your input(s) - the transaction fee) into the 'Amount:' field
- confirm with 'Send'

This will create a transaction, splitting your coins. You can check the 'Transactions' tab, it should be listed. Wait some minutes. You can verify via 'Send' -> 'Inputs' if there are more inputs than before (in our example from above, you will now see 10 inputs with 1000 QBT each).

Hope this helps!

I did not quite understand the problem: I unlocked the wallet and I want to receive rewards, but I do not know how to do it.
Я не понял проблемы, ты хочешь PoS в QBT или имеешь ввиду бесплатные SCIFI coins?
Yes, I want POS, but I do not know how to do it
QBT like Hyperstake, if you want PoS, need keep wallet always working and online.
You need more then 2 connections and more 15 days old input transaction.
If you see at bottom green arrow - your wallet is staking, put mouse pointer over green arrow
 and you will see average time for get one stake.
And set reservebalance=0 in config.
All done, active connections 3, but the arrow in the gray circle, here is the screen: http://prntscr.com/htoszg I do this for the first time, so do not be angry with me
We all started one day, so nobody will be angry with you. Guess anybody here is happy to answer valid questions. Smiley

The screenshot says '...you don't have mature coins.' This means there is no input transaction older than 15 days. PoS/the staking will start 15 days after you received the first QBT sent to your wallet. Let's say you've bought QBT on December 20th and sent them to your wallet, the staking should start on January 4th.

You're intuition is spot on.

Also, power prices in Germany (and other Euro countries) going negative? So why aren't more Bitcoin miners setting up shop there?
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/25/business/energy-environment/germany-electricity-negative-prices.html

Warmist propaganda.
Germany has one of the highest price of electricity in Europe

Because 'customers' pay a fixed rate. Typically ~ 33 US cent / kWh, taxes, transportation fees (really), regional fees (regions with weaker infrastructure pay more), ecology fees (to pay people feeding power in from solar panels) and... more stuff... Selling prices are not really influenced by purchase/production costs. Long story short, mining will pay-off only if you have your own solar park and the sun is shining. Cool

Tell me please, can I already send a message to a vampire?
Not yet. We have to be a little patient, just some additional days:

You may send me message from January, 1
But address balance I check February, 1 in richlist - http://cryptoguru.tk/RichList/index.php?Currency=QBT

I guess vampirus will give an official 'go' as well. Smiley

I run the daemon, no GUI.

-MarkM-
Not 100% sure how to check there if it's staking. You could try 'getmininginfo'. If 'stakeinputs' is > 0 you know some inputs could stake.

You might check 'listtransactions 20' as well. These are the last 20 transactions to/from your wallet. Chech the 'generated' value. If it's 'true', it was mined. If you're not PoW mining on the same wallet, this sould be a PoS mined transaction.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

I would also like to bump my questions posted some 10 hours ago or something.

If you GPU mine, does it matter if your computer is connected to your browser via wifi or cable?

And does anyone know anything about the OS called PureOS. Are there any issues with that OS that you know of?

Cable is always the best choice but, if you are mining to a pool and your wifi is stable probably there will be no significant difference. I was mining for some time with an antminer S3 I added an antenna over wifi and it worked well. There is very little traffic if you are pool mining and a few ms of additional latency are not that important. Running a full node would be a much different matter.

Never used PureOS. I usually prefer vanilla debian or any other widely used distribution so that any new vulnerabilities are published/patched soon enough.

Thank you, I will be pool mining and I'm going to do it for fun, not for profits. I only have one cable slot on my router and would prefer to use that for my everyday computer so I will give the wifi a try.
Yes, give it a try. Latency on Wi-Fi might be some ms worse than having the rig connected via cable but might not really matter. Let's say you're solo mining a coin with short block time (like 15 seconds) and Wi-Fi adds 5 ms, there is a 0.033 % chance the block you found might be orphaned. If you're pool mining on something like BTG with one block every 10 minutes, well... no significant difference nails it.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] United SciFi Coin [SCIFI] PoW/PoS on: December 26, 2017, 03:11:30 PM
I have not been able to get staking to work.

I have "splitthreshold=500000000" as my unitedscifi.conf but there is no indication that any staking is happening at all.

-MarkM-
Open your wallet and check the 'arrow up' symbol in the bottom right. You're staking as long as the arrow is green. Hover with your cursor over this arrow symbol and it should show a tool tip 'Stake miner is active'.

If it's not staking...

- check if there are inputs ready to stake (open the 'Minting' tab)
- be sure your wallet is synced
- in case your wallet is password protected, unlock it (with the walletpassphrase command via RPC console)

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] "Cubits"(QBT) HI POS Coin v2.1.3-Starbuck UPDATED! on: December 26, 2017, 01:49:45 AM
Btw. who on earth just dumped 1.3 million QBT just before receiving his SCIFI? Insanity... Tongue

On November 11th someone somehow gained access to my email address and used "forgot password" to get int my exchange accounts and dumped all my coins, which was really bad for some coins where I was the primary market-maker. I do not know how they go into my email, they did it on Nov 2nd, so some dumping on some exchanges happened then, I told provider they said they couldn't do anything, and Nov 8th despite all precautions the hacker somehow got back in. Now I know why long after there should be no-one left with cheap coins of a given type to dump we still see crazy dumps: it probably happens every time a hacker gets into someone's email.

Although this does not seem to have been what happened to me, it is worth while taking nte of the fact that a popular method of hacking lately, due to so many sites telling people to set up a phone as "two factor" security, is to call the phone company and give some crazy sob-story about losing phone and asking he phone number to be switched over to the hacker's burner phone. They call hundreds of times if need be, until they get a phone staffperson stupid enough to fall for the story. So think twice before involving a phone in your financial security.

-MarkM-
Sad to read what happened and thanks for giving a warning.

I've personally never trusted email providers and use (a paid) server since late 90s, just because I think the guys are getting paid and hijacking a domain needs more involvment. Might be an option for you as well. I mean, email is the most important communication channel since more than 20 years, nothing hurts more than losing control over an email account (I would not care about my phone). Undecided

And yes, for 2FA simply use Google Authenticator. I would not enter my phone number (if possible) on any site in the interwebs because of the reason you've mentioned.

Damn, this must hurt. I know you are here since 'the beginning'. Cry It will not help, but just share a QBT adress and I'll send you 1.000 coins or something, just because...

How much PoW reward set: 10, 25, 50 or 75?
I leave old retarget algo, 3 min block (PoW difficulty based on PoS blocks also)
Good question. The last reward was 3 or 4 when I'm not wrong. What would be a good measure to prevent hashrate-bombs like we've seen in the past? 25 or 10 maybe? I mean, big miners switching to 'our' blockchain would not help new people to get some coins but the reward should be high enough to motivate them to mine (if they want to get in).
