164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN booth at CES Las Vegas! Tell all reporters! on: January 08, 2012, 09:46:45 PM

If you would like to make a donation towards our efforts, you can visit http://lovebitcoins.org and we will list you on the site as a supporter.  BONUS:  if you make a donation by Sunday, I will have a printed list of all the supporters in our booth for every reporter to see!

I don't know if it is just me but I can't find where to donate to this tradeshow exhibit at this site: http://lovebitcoins.org/
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation on: October 25, 2011, 08:45:04 PM
here are some functions I think a Bitcoin Foundation could perform:

  • Interact with the legal system, where a centralized entity is needed: for example, to hold the Bitcoin trademark, own/control the bitcoin.org domain name, etc.
  • Act as a central library for accurate information about Bitcoin, so journalists and policymakers have an 'official' place to learn about Bitcoin.
  • Collect donations to fund infrastructure necessary for Bitcoin's growth (organize regular developers' conferences or get-togethers maybe? pay for development of cross-implementation testing tools? pay core developers' salaries? create a certification/testing program for Bitcoin implementations? create a central clearinghouse for information about legal issues surrounding Bitcoin across the world?)

[/quote]

I will donate towards these ends.

Just sent 5.0 btc.  Hope this helps. Stay peaceful in the morning! Violence is not an option for a succesful transition to the new paradigm.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #occupywallstreet #operationbitcoin GA Bitcoin Speech for Open Mic on: October 10, 2011, 10:09:22 PM
Needs more bite... try this:

**********
To those currently occupying Wall St. - Please Listen Up

You're upset with the banks, yet you continue to bank with them.

You're upset with the Federal Reserve, yet you continue to use its fiat money.

You're upset with Wall St., yet you subsidize and support them every day.

The slave who merely grumbles while he endures his enslavement does not advance his own freedom. The banks may have built the cage, but you have locked yourself inside.

There is an alternative to this fraudulent scheme that imprisons you - it's called Bitcoin

It's a decentralized monetary system - no person, corporation, nor government can control it. It is without borders, agenda, or undue influence.

If you care to end the lecherous system that has grown fat off the toils of society, we invite you to come over and discuss.

We're giving away some free donations of this new currency - and we'll teach you how to use it.

Bitcoin will end the banks, if you care to try it.

Message finished.
***********

+1  +1   +1 (and 3 cheers)
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal Strikes Again, This is an Opportunity for BTC to Prove its Value on: October 07, 2011, 08:07:03 PM
It's quite likely that many or most of the people actually protesting have no idea why they're there, what the solutions are or even what the problems are. It's quite a fertile field for finding people receptive to the message of liberty. I have absolutely no illusions about the organizers of these protests; they know exactly what they are doing, are quite hostile to liberty, and intend these protests as a springboard to go further down the socialist path.

I am of the opinion that an end to fiat currencies and a widespread adaptation of bitcoin as the medium of exchange would preclude a trip down the socialist path.

Interesting,

It's not easy for us to turn this boat on a dime, but I'll look into it.

All the Best,

172  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: DONOR THREAD for #OccupyWallStreet Bitcoin Promotion on: October 01, 2011, 06:14:53 AM
Quick update: 1,000 cards have been printed and are en route to NYC. The plan is for them to start handing out on Monday

Donations thus far will be going to the printing and shipping expense, and then to maintaining the Bitcoin Faucet (linked from operationbitcoin.org which is QR'd on the cards). There is also an effort to do instawallet preloaded cards with sequential printing, and donation will thus be used to fund that as well.

And THANK YOU to all the generous donations!!! We'll be continuing this project into the other big cities if this protest spreads (word on the street says it is spreading indeed).

Additional 5.0101 btc donation sent. Thank you for organizing this.

OccupyWallStreet == biggest waste of time ever.  Roll Eyes

From your signature links, appears that you are an advocate of advocating gambling as the more productive use of other's time. Good luck with that when you face the transition to the new paradigm......

My 5 btc contribution to the Wall Street Occupation has been sent, and I request it be returned to 1Q2driP1FjjnSymfXPWkKtx3wpjSScxFzm  if the project does not proceed.

I am too remote from the action to contribute organizationally, but will contribute btc if the project gains legs.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To the attn of Immanuel Go on: August 18, 2011, 11:21:43 PM
Honestly, OP, this was very rude. I would of preferred you dealt with this maturely and PM'd me. I am not your enemy here nor do I deserve negative public scrutiny. Actually, I have already taken the liberty of enabling that but your intentions seem to be exclusively to defame me as opposed to genuinely providing an open process.

I do not appreciate this at all.

This is a simple request for a refund of my 2btc which I donated to a specific project upon your solicitation of funding to help you achieve the specific project. There was no disrespect intended, and the public nature of my request is in keeping with the public nature of the project and solicitation. Previous requests for updates mby myself and another had gone unheeded.

Please, just send me back my 2 btc, and the matter is finished.

It seems an excellent production company known as MTB Media LLC has taken on my Bitcoin Ad screenplay and is going to make it a reality. However, labor is a scarce commodity and payment is required to make this a value-driven reality.

So, do you want Bitcoin to have more presence on the internet and beyond through a gorgeous, original advertisement?

Send your values worth of BTC here: 16R1YAUbAtbCQ2V8ztjN6BEeefyqgtAm9g

Your donation will be labeled, cataloged then sent to the production company as soon as possible.

Thank you!

2 btc donation sent. Onwards and upwards.
*salute*

Godspeed, my fellow man.

If you did not carry through with this project, please return my 2btc donation

177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of TradeHill [Bitcoin.com Announcement] on: August 18, 2011, 08:02:09 PM
Out of interest I looked at the data from bitcoincharts.com which gave 70.86 days of data. According to that $2,568,748 was traded on tradehill in USD (There is the liberty reserve data as well which I didn't include). This is $36,251 a day on average. With the 0.56% commissions that is $406 a day extrapolated to $148,190 a year. Considering Tradehill seems pretty good (And compared to mtgox) and bitcoin will likely grow further, that seems pretty good to me. Though when Tradehill started the volumes were higher but have dropped off a bit yet I think bitcoin can grow further.

$148,190 a year seems awfully small to pay the salaries of several employees and all the hosting, security and developmental costs. Some investor(s) must see a very bright future for bitcoin, and be willing to risk a lot in pursuit of their vision.

ANY NEWS HERE??? or will the thread title get updated?

bump
Were donations mentioned being given back to people in this thread http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=26692.0 part of this?   I am curious, how many ongoing projects are there right now?

If this project was not completed, I would like my 2btc donation back please.

179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoins on: August 15, 2011, 11:30:28 PM
because I need to spend them at the conference,  hence I won't be able to pay him back.. literally the 40 coins or so would be gone and spent within a few hours after I get them.    It's not like I have some way to magically make 84 coins back Smiley

Quote

You would only need 44 bitcoins to pay me back (not 84). By the way, why don't you just buy the bitcoins you need from the Meze Grill right near the conference, for cash?
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoins on: August 15, 2011, 10:18:44 PM
I will lend you 40 bitcoins if you promise to repay me 44 bitcoins in two weeks.

pm me if interested

That's over 300% annual interest, if my quick math is correct.   Shocked

Bitcoins that I bought at $28 are now selling for $11

This is a highly volatile market, so why don't you make him a better offer?
