161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: April 24, 2014, 08:02:48 PM
Speaking as a Techie.  I will give you something to think about in regards to the Hardware limitations of taking over all transactions in the world.

The first thing you have to remember.  BTC, and any other Crypto-currency is NOT centralized.  This means there is not 1 central storage location where you just need to worry about having enough HDD's of storage space to contain the blockchain.  Pretty much every computer connected has to have the space to contain the entire blockchain.   Yes I know BTC has wallets like Multi Bit, which helps with this problem, but the need is still there to have the blockchain on MANY computers worldwide.

Currently the BTC Blockchain is taking up almost 17 Gb of space.  With the limited number of transactions that currently happen, the Blockchain grows approx. 1 Gb/month.  If the blockchain grew to take over Visa, I have read that would have to scale by a factor of 1000.  Or 1 Tb/month.

Not only would every single personal computer choke on the size of that blockchain  (Everyone is not going to buy a 3 Tb HDD every couple of months to contain the Blockchain).  Also the amount of data flowing to every single computer holding the blockchain would saturate the average monthly ISP bandwidth cap.

So as you can see there are still in this day and age very massive hardware caps for doing what you are speaking of.  What they are banking on is Moore's law continuing to grow the hardware side so that in a few years when the Blockchain is sitting at 1 Tb, that HDD's most people will be popping into their computers will be in the 100 Tb range, and that the bandwidth ISP's provide monthly grows in leaps and bounds as well.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can a new coin break-in and be a big success? on: April 23, 2014, 12:27:13 AM
Wow you really don't know anything about Altcoins what so ever.  Lol.  I think you should contact Vlad2Vlad.  The 2 of you could create something that would leave the world standing in awe.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many dead coin coins do you own? on: April 21, 2014, 03:43:29 PM
Yeah I had a good handful of Baconbits as well.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marinecoin. Sex Lies and Videotape. Truth, scandal or scam. Thoughts? on: April 21, 2014, 03:38:54 PM
Actually their pre-mine is 97%.  But here is the real laugh, if that wasn't enough.  The remaining 3% is to be mined at an equal rate for the next 1000 years.  So even in 10 years time, there will only be 0.03% of the minable coins in the hands of the public, although they claim they will be giving away a bit from the premine.

They like to use the "rarity" of the mined coins to drive up the value of the traded coins, then take that value and add it to the total amount of "untouchable" pre-mined coins to  give the coin a huge "faked" market cap.  They plan on eventually selling off the "untouchable" coins, and using the money to purchase an island or some land somewhere, where they will create their own country and build a Megacity within.  The only currency to be used in the Megacity is Marine coin, and their line of alt coins which they plan on releasing.

They say owning a number of their coins will be all that is needed for their citizenship in their country, and if you are a large coin holder now (Or very soon), you will be able to use their coin yacht for trip around Europe.  And live the life of the rich and famous.  They also claim the coin dev is from some rich/famous German family, and he has millions of dollars, so he has no need stealing from the poor people he is helping.

It doesn't help that they started out heavily using sock puppets to pump the coin.

As for the answer of Truth/Scam.  I don't really know, haven't made my mind up on that.  It seems on the surface to be 100% scam, but my thoughts are more leaning towards cult where the leader believes this to be true.  I'm not convinced to mine or not to mine yet, as bad as it seems, it's no worse then getting behind about 97% of the other alt coins out there.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the Twin Brothers - Who Were, Are and Will Rule the World! on: April 14, 2014, 04:07:33 PM
You do realize, I don't think anyone mines IXC alone.  All the mining power on the coin is from BTC merged mining.  The miners of this coin are making back the cost of power in BTC.  IXC is just the dust collected on their mining rigs after a hard days work.  Sure not many are cashing in their IXC at the current prices.  But maybe with a bit of movement and a bit of a price jump, things might start moving.

I don't have much hope, but I did buy some IXC just on the obscure chance it did happen.   Like betting on the old horse with 1/1000 odds at the track.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is LTC Dying? on: April 14, 2014, 04:00:53 PM
I don't think LTC is dying, in any sense, anymore then I think the entire cryptocurrency market is dying.

LTC probably won't make a comeback until BTC makes a comeback, although it is the only other Cryptocurrency at the given time that could stand on its own if BTC ever did completely fail, which probably won't happen.   Not that it would jump to where BTC currently is in Worldwide acceptance right away, but it is starting to be accepted by more and more businesses as a currency option.

But I have no idea what ASIC's will do to the LTC market.  I personally don't think it will be good for any scrypt coins.  But guess we will see which way it goes.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: April 14, 2014, 03:53:07 PM
If you want to make IXC look like it has active devs, and a coin that should be taken seriously, you really need to get the wallet updated to patch up the Heartbleed vulnerability.   Then once that is finished, post on the thread of coins that have the Heartbleed patched.  That will gain some credibility.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FAC = New coin to rival Marinecoin! on: April 12, 2014, 03:31:28 AM
Holy crap, I didn't think anything would sway me from Marine coin, but you have rivaled them.  To the moon, I trust in this coin.  So what are your thoughts on miners being invited to the Fucking A breeding program.  I was trying with Monica, but her sock puppet fell off, and I realised it was a guys hand so I had to flee.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: April 12, 2014, 03:22:49 AM
Attorney???

You expecting some angry users?
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The world's first LTC blade ASIC mining machine Gridseed G-Blade in Stock!!!!! on: April 09, 2014, 04:20:24 PM
Yeah I am keeping an eye on them, but that price.  LMAO.  WAY to high.

When you look at the incoming KNC's with 50X the power for only 3X the price.

Knock the price down to decent levels and I am sure you will have alot of buyers.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are Litecoin supporters so unfriendly towards other Cryptos? on: April 08, 2014, 03:03:23 PM
I don't think Litecoin supporters are unfriendly towards other cryptos in general.  I think they/we are just wanting the trend of 10 cryptos a day being released to end, and get back to a few bigger ones so that we can go back to the days where you could make some money and people worked towards building a coin, and had a sense of a coins community.

Right now, everyone is jumping from coin to coin, mining and dumping as soon as it hits the market, then that coin crashes, and they jump to the next one.  There is no longer money or community left, and if you look at the majority of coin prices you see a huge downwards trend because of the current market.

I think the majority of Litecoin supporters support new coins with innovation, but 98% of the coins being released each day are created by coingen, or some other cloning service, which are pumped and then dumped.  The new trend for Country based coins are seen as just a marketing gimmick.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why always the same wallet? on: February 25, 2014, 03:33:36 PM
There are quite a few different designs out there. I am guessing you are looking at all the coins made either by that auto website Coingen??  or by one of the guys here that will create a coin for you for a small payment.  The devs there don't have a clue about what they are doing, let alone trying to fancy up a wallet.

What coins are you looking at that all have the generic wallet design?

Yep I found this news awesome.

Or are you talking about yet another Canadian Fiat/BTC exchange called Virtex.

The website is here:  https://www.cavirtex.com/

They are updating the site atm.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with MaxCoin? on: February 18, 2014, 04:47:50 PM
Max is a bit of a celebrity in the cryptocurrency world.  He is a celebrity with an economic show in London, which is on Russia Today.  He talks economics, but a portion of his show seems to be dedicated to Cryptocurrencies, and he is a big pusher/pumper for a long time.  There are a lot of people who follow his every word, and he has some friends with deep pockets.

The currency itself is a bit of a joke, but Max claims he will pump the coin so much that it will overtake BTC in a short time.  More than likely not a possibility, but many people (Myself included) have been collecting some just in case.  If nothing comes of it, it won't be worse then most of my other investments in a crypto.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: February 16, 2014, 08:21:50 AM
Yep I am aware of that.  Lol, after some looking around, I did see someone made a Bitcoin logo with Latin on it.  Never noticed that before.

Do what you want with it though, it was just a suggestion.

Not quite sure if I have that saying down though.  According to Google Translate, your Latin slogan is "Driven Swords are suitable".  Is that the correct meaning?  Or is there another meaning, or did Google Translate screw up??
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: February 16, 2014, 05:10:46 AM
I would have to vote for the Red and Black one myself.  Looks like what the coin should be trying to represent.  Just woke up, and ready to fight (Takeover).

I don't think Latin Phrases should be on the coin.  It's exclusionary.   You want the coin to be open and accepted by as many people as possible World wide.  Think how Americans would accept a coin with Russian type fonts, or Islamic fonts.

Look at these 3 and ask yourself, would an average American like these on their coins?

English - The Coin is Number One

Arabic  -  عملة هو رقم واحد

Russian - Монета имеет номер один

Chinese - 硬幣是頭號

178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Max Keiser's coin (Maxcoin) on: February 16, 2014, 04:48:19 AM
Yeah I had a laugh at that failed attempt of a Genesis block creation as well.

As for who Max Keiser is.  I will tell you I am not one of his followers/regular watchers.  I do know he has a TV show that is based out of London, and seems to talk mostly about economic things in London, but is on Russia Today??  I don't quite understand that part.

Anyways, he has a huge following I am guessing in Europe/Russia.  Plus a lot of Bitcoiners watch his show, as he usually has quite a few pieces about cryptocurrency in his show.

Anyways, if you go back 3 months.  LTC was sitting at around $2.  BTC was sitting under $200.  This was the first time I ever heard of the guy.  He had announced that LTC was going to $50 on his TV show, and it was posted on the forums here.   I laughed because I don't think it had ever been above $5.  I was heading to Vegas for the weekend, and decided, just in case something crazy happened while I was gone, I put 60 LTC for sale for $10 a piece.  5X more that the going rate.  I got back to find my LTC sold at $10 a piece, and the price was sitting around $50.  It could have easily been something else.  Not sure.  But I knew (After essentially loosing $2000 profit) that weekend, that if he ever called something crazy again, I would listen, as I do think he has a lot of followers with deep pockets.

From what I have read about him, it seems he is kind of like the Howard Stern of the Economic World.  He is quite opinionated, and isn't afraid to say things that could end him in trouble.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are most of the POOLs owned by theives? on: February 16, 2014, 04:01:02 AM
You do realize Coinwarz calculator is not an actual measure you can base anything off of don't you?

The entire cryptocurrency game revolves around luck.  Something Coinwarz has no calculations for.  That and how large the pool is compared to the network.  For the most part a pool doesn't pay you anything unless someone in the pool finds a block.  If there is no block found, there is no payment.  If you are on 1 pool that has 25% of the hash rate, and another that has 1% of the network hash rate, on average the 25% pool will find more blocks.  Will it find exactly 25 block for every 100 blocks released.  More than likely not.  If the large pool only finds 10 blocks that day instead of the 25 that it should on average, your going to have a bad pay day that day.  If on the other hand that pool finds 35 of the blocks, your going to see about 40% more that payperiod.

On the contrary the small pool with 1% of the mining power might have many days when no blocks are found at all.  You can whine all you like, and say the pool operator stold your coins, since they didn't pay you at all, yet Coinwarz says in 24 hours you should get so many coins per 24 hours.  On the other hand some days a small pool will get lucky and find 3 blocks.  On those days you should get 300% more then usual.

Now when you tie that to DOGE coins, and their totally random rewards.  It messes things up totally.  Coinwarz should slap themselves silly for lying to all the miners for calculating rewards for random payment coins.  DOGE does not pay 500,000 coins (Like Coinwarz says it does).  It actually "Paid" anywhere between 1 coin and 1 million coins.  Now that DOGE has hit its first halving, the reward now is actually any number between 1 and 500,000.

So if you were on the pool again with 1% of the network hashrate, and you mined all day, and your pool found the 1 block it should get on average.  The coins going to your wallet depend again on luck to see what reward it gave you.  If it dropped you 1 coin.  Well everyone in your pool gets to share 1 DOGE that entire day.  So your payment for 24 hours even if the pool is at 100% luck and found it's 1 block, you might get 0.01 DOGE.  On the other hand, if the pool lucked out and got the big one 1,000,000 then you might get paid 10,000 DOGE.  A huge difference.

So even if you have 2 computers running on different pools, you pretty much have to have different payouts.  Having the exact same payout on 2 different pools would be harder to hit than hitting the lottery.

Now for Multipool.  I personally don't like that pool, but for totally different reasons.  I am assuming you were mining multi-pools straight DOGE pool.  The way Multipool works is to jump the miners on a coin where the payout is the highest at a given moment.  When the main jumping pool is on DOGE, and you are on DOGE, there is a good change you could have 10% of the network hash rate which means your pool will find lots of blocks, and everyone is happy.  When the jumping pool jumps to a different coin, guess what, all the hashing power leaps to a different coin.  Your sitting there with a small faction of the hash rate for the coin, and there is a good chance the pool won't actually find a block until the jumping pool comes back and works on DOGE.  That could mean days/weeks without finding a block if a different coin has the reward that week.

Don't blame the pool operators, blame yourself for going into mining totally un-informed, and relying on a totally broken tool like the Coinwarz calculator.

PS - I don't own a pool myself, and don't know anyone that does.
