161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from centralized wallets on: July 27, 2020, 06:31:31 PM
Do you even know the difference between Centralized wallets and Dec wallets? Days back I lost my coinbase account and the team aren't helping, I'm glad I only have little Bitcoin on the account, would have been a different story if I use coinomi or atomic wallet because they give users 💯 control over their funds, private keys and recovery seed are important, always remember that

Example of Centralized wallets
1. Coinbase
2. Nexo
3. Luno
4. Xapo
5. Freewallet

Any wallets that ask you create an account with mail and password is centralized, they monitor your private keys for you, be smart

OP this is an awesome tip, and thanks for pointing out some of these centralized wallets. I think blockchain wallet is missing out. I wonder why a wallet will require KYC, this sucks. I mainly use trustwallet, there is no need for email or KYC. I tried swapping ETH / xlm on blockchain wallet and KYC was a requisite. Decentralization is far fetched in the real sense.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fill your bag with caution on: July 27, 2020, 06:47:27 AM
Always pick only the best, even with full of opportunity time like this with many cryptos is undervalued. Make a list of conditions to pick out the best crypto you want or believe would be the next thing. Do it cautiously since even a good time to fill in the bag, there are still some bad seeds among.

The main challenge is knowing which coin is the best? What I normally do is to draw a scale of preference for my personal picks, then select 3 out of the ones I researched on to add to my portfolio. Sometimes our analysis might be totally wrong, the coins we pick as "best" might dump continuously. I remember buying a bulk of NPXS after reviewing their product and the coming months it kept dumping, even though price picked up after a long while. Being careful when making crypto investment implies you apply proper risk management strategy and thorough research before investment, but sometimes it takes grace for our picks to make us smile.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is going up day by day.. on: July 25, 2020, 06:36:19 PM
ETH is my greatest long term investment of all time. Been extremely happy lately with the attention ETH is getting, partly due to ETH 2.0 which is around the corner and many DEFI projects on Ethereum blockchain. I laughed hard when someone said ETH price will crash massively over time when the era of ICO passed, that the major reason why ETH hasn't dumped badly is because it was the major means to participate in ICOs then. Let's see what ETH 2.0 brings, I hope it turns out cool.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi Anticipated To Reach $5 Billion In Total Value on: July 25, 2020, 10:41:51 AM
Well its mere prediction to say DEFI marketcap will hit 5B$ , but personally I think it will go beyond 5B$. So much hype and interest around DEFI. Decentralized Finance now the watch phrase for many crypto enthusiasts, every project wants to embed DEFI related approach on their roadmap. See what WANCHAIN did recently, and also AERGO just to mention a few. CZ too doesn't want to be left out, Binance chain will add smart contract feature mainly for DEFI sake, we all know. Some exchanges like Kucoin hosting DEFI coin listing program for free.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Importance of social media channels on: July 24, 2020, 09:51:12 PM
For any coin I buy to hold long term, even if I don't join their telegram or discord channels, I usually turn on their Twitter notifications to avoid missing out on vital updates. Token swap for instance is very important, you might grind your teeth if you hold a coin and miss token swap deadline. Another reason why I turn on Twitter notifications for projects I invest in is to determine if they've been keeping up to date with development, to know whether it's really worth long term hold or not.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you going to keep quit about bitwings? on: July 24, 2020, 07:42:26 PM
Reportedly Bitwings will hold an IEO on binance, but it's still a rumor, we don't know for sure, and Binance also hasn't announced their IEO yet, we'll wait, if indeed IEO Bitwing is held at Binance, I'll buy it.
Are you kidding me? Sounds more like a joke. How can a project leak such vital info before Binance, it's obviously not true. I didn't participate in Bitwings Bounty because their project aim looked more like its not feasible to me, producing phones that can mine blablabla. I'm not against the project and hope they can clear my doubt, and if truly they treated those who promoted their project badly, then its so unfair.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherscan or Ethplorer on: July 23, 2020, 08:48:23 PM
I use etherscan, if I have to check value of my tokens I just use deltabalances, it shows estimated value of all tokens instead of just cmc listed ones.
I thought deltablances show value of tokens wrt forkdelta, etherdelta and IDEX are there added exchanges? Well, etherscan and ethplorer still show value of tokens and both are similar and also unique in their own ways. Major reason why I use ethplorer is to display value of my tokens in descending order. Etherscan is cool since it shows exchanges where you can trade tokens. Both etherscan and ethplorer are valid, but etherscan has more unique features.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How possible is it to make a living trading cryptocurrencies alone? on: July 23, 2020, 10:37:48 AM
Full time trading is possible but it is not easy and only few traders are constantly earning in volatile market. For those who want to be a full time trader, that task is so difficult especially in the beginning where you are not yet used to the volatility of the market. I do trading but not full time because there are still things that I needed to do but I plan to do full time trading in the next 6 months because my goal today is to earn experience and to polish my skills in trading.

Full time trading for real? I've been on this road and if you put all your eggs in one basket (doing only trading to earn a living) it might be catastrophic. I noticed that when I quit my low paying job to focus only on trading, my emotions trippled, which is unhealthy for a trader even though I thought it will let me focus more on trading, thereby achieving greater heights. However, it's just my personal experience, might be a different ballgame with someone else.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized Cloud Storage: Is it worth it? on: July 22, 2020, 10:13:46 PM
Google drive et al. is not just cheap, but free (with the expense of the user's soul ofc)! I think what we need is not about centralized/decentralized, but about secure distributed cloud storage with encryption, so the server cannot see and steal user's data, and they have multiple back-ups.

The token economy, however, is more about the ecosystem where users can earn money (token) from providing storage. It's like they (google et al. vs sia et al.) have different market.

This is very correct, everyone is looking for a free secure cloud storage even though personally I prefer decentralized cloud storage. The major reason why decentralized cloud storage won't be able to compete well with centralized version is issue of mass acceptance and also nobody wants to pay a fee for storing personal files for instance on some decentralized cloud storage, while it can be done for free on GOOGLE DRIVE for instance. I'm not talking about organizations which need bigger spaces to store files, this is where decentralized cloud storage will be cheaper. I liked the concept by projects like Internxt in the past, not sure if they still exist.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbies take my advice on: July 22, 2020, 07:59:10 PM
I wonder why someone in his/her right senses will borrow money to invest in a highly volatile asset like crypto. Sometimes we don't have to put the blames entirely on newbies who invest this way with borrowed funds, it depends on the orientation they got before venturing into crypto. Someone who didn't know I'm into crypto was advising me to invest in LINK, that he just did and it will touch 100$ soon, little did he know that I'm a pro in what he claims to be a pro in. Imagine if I'm a newbie and got that kind of advise from a trusted friend, and maybe at that time I needed to make money by all means and decided to borrow to invest in LINK. Let's be mindful on what we tell newbies in crypto, let's stop making it look like a, get rich quick scheme.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I found out from Twitter. on: July 20, 2020, 09:06:36 PM
Recently, i know Binance CEO, Changpend Zhao has recently criticised the security of Twitter after the recent coordinated attack on prominent accounts. He has said this on the World Blockchain Summit Asia which took place on Thursday 16 July. This attack on Twitter has targeted several prominent crypto exchanges including Coinbase, Binance and many others. Along with this, it has attacked some of the most famous personalities of the U.S. Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and many others. The hackers were posting tweets from these accounts and have been offering a fake crypto giveaway.

What's your opinion?
Opinion on what exactly? the question is not really clear. CZ has the right to criticize Twitter based on the security breach, if actually he did. A source to this claim would have been helpful so people get to understand his points. Twitter need to upgrade their security, so does other platforms. 2FA is cool, Twitter needs to embed it. Well the truth is, no system is free from hacks 100%,they just need to up their security game constantly.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Day Trading or Long-term Hodl? on: July 20, 2020, 02:14:26 PM
It depend, the day trading is only for altcoins with low volume and great variation of the price, for the good projects I suggest to HOLD, HOLD, HOLD and when the price go down buy! The good projects are very rare but when you find it you can't lose the opportunity to a big gain for a daily trading!

I was day trading SYS and missed the big move today, little did I know there is a strong FA about big news on 23rd. The most important thing in trading is building a good strategy, then stick to it till it doesn't work. I do both day trading, mid term trading and long term investment, hence I'm somewhat dynamic. Even a coin I made 50% on later does 100%, I still won't regret taking profit. If you HODL all coins you buy, then that doesn't make you a trader, you are an investor if so.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to know if the project is fake? on: July 19, 2020, 10:10:04 PM
I may be wrong, but the most effective way to detect fraudulent projects is to check the identity of the development team. Very often even not particularly in-depth verification shows that the identity is fictional. To make sure of this, just look at the topic on the forum, there are plenty of examples.

If one can verify if the team is real, capable, reputable, and also if the project has good backings, then its a green flag. For example, you don't expect a project backed by Binance or Coinbase to fail easily. But sometimes projects use fake backings. I had to verify if one project which claimed was backed by coinbase early this year and to my greatest dismay, it was fake, this is just an instance. Sometimes the team use details of other people (imposters), or do put up fake social media handles which look so real with wonderful profiles to lure in investors. Checking team alone is not enough when doing research before investment.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IEO might soon become an history in crypto world soon on: July 18, 2020, 06:01:34 PM
If DYCO actually promises to refund dissatisfied investors according to OP, this means it beats IEO in that regard. However, when comparing the all new DYCO and IEO, be sure to do side by side comparison with their pros and cons. The bottom line remains to achieve success in crowdfunding and also to exclude scam, so IEO still plays a big role for now and has been really helpful especially when done on reputable exchanges. I didn't really know orionprotocol made use of DYCO, sounds good.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has "Decentralization" become a buzz word these days? on: July 18, 2020, 01:02:16 PM
Very nice points OP made, many crypto projects use the word decentralized wrongly, since in the real sense most are highly centralized. Ripple EOS, TRON are all core examples as pointed out by OP. It's also questionable whether some so-called decentralized exchanges are truly decentralized, since some use centralized servers for matching orders on order book. Imagine Justin Sun delving into DEFI (Decentralized Finance) whereas the underlying framework itself is far from decentralization. Well, who cares about decentralized projects? Provided money is made, we are cool in the real sense.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coins for bounty hunters on: July 17, 2020, 12:45:12 PM
As much as I would.like for this to happen being a bounty hunter it isn't really practical to expect the projects to pay stable currency to users participating. If they do this the spending on bounty would become considerably higher .

Spending on Bounty will be higher in what regard? Unless probably the team doesn't believe their coin will be valuable. Probit didn't share PROB tokens, they shared USDT just to mention. I believe if stable coins are distributed for bounties, firstly you get rewarded exactly for what you work for and secondly hunters don't get to dump tokens massively especially if there is no buyback program by the team after Bounty distribution. The bad aspect with this is that, some Bounty coins do well in the long run and hence favors those who decide to hold. This won't be the case if stable coins are distributed.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat vs Crypto in money laundering on: July 16, 2020, 09:16:14 PM
FIAT being in existence years before crypto is supposed to be used more in money laundering comparatively, such comparisons should be made from when Bitcoin was invented till present and not otherwise. By the way nice article OP, atleast we can use this to prove a point for those who always associate crypto to scams / money laundering, and claim crypto will never be acceptable mainstream due to this mishap.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BINANCE,GEMINI,CZ,COINBASE TWITTER IS HACKED!! on: July 16, 2020, 02:11:36 PM
This is not just an attack which is exclusive to cryptocurrency-related accounts. Aside from the accounts of Binance, Gemini, Coinbase, etc the accounts of Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Kim Kardashian, Wiz Khalifa, etc are also victims of the same attack.

This is a proof that centralized social media should start shifting to decentralization.

It's not even about shifting to decentralized social media, but upgrading security. How many decentralized social media platforms are mainstream? A lot need to be done in that aspect. Talking about those who got scammed by those tweets, I can't really say I feel pity for them because they allowed their greed to take whole of them. Why will anyone in his right senses think coinbase, Binance, Gemini etc will be part of money doubling, send 1BT receive 2BTC lol, sounds vague.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunters complains and they listens on: July 15, 2020, 07:38:52 PM
It's always good to escrow funds for Bounty, and some managers are really trying in that regard. Some managers never care about hunters after campaign ends, provided the host paid them for management. I had a situation whereby my details were on spreadsheet but I was omitted probably due to my reward. Transparency and fairness is all we need, God bless those managers who take their time to bring good projects and also to ensure hunters get rewarded.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto mass adoption closing in on: July 15, 2020, 01:00:58 PM
I have seen a video regarding the involvement of Paypal in cryptocurrency and now it comes up again.

Take note that Paypal has ~300 Million users worldwide. An adoption of crypto in Paypal will be a huge boost for the crypto as a whole. Well, lets just hope that this will turn the tides into where is Bitcoin heading to. We saw Bitcoin's price going sideways for weeks already and we don't know where it will go if it is up or down :X. Mass adoption is progressing and this is one of them and many more in the future as more establishments are seeing the benefits of crypto.

Woow 300 million users? that's huge and will be a great big impact if PayPal start processing crypto transactions. I do have my bias on this, it won't be easy to implement. However, as OP wrote, slow and steady crypto goes to global adoption. I'll be extremely happy if Binance card launches and I'm able to obtain it and use in my country. CZ is truly a game changer in crypto space with so many innovations all driving towards adoption. Imagine the number of FIAT pairs already on Binance, it's a huge step forward.
