I know, it even says "My pool- Kano.is"!

So, Workers -> Block % is my share to the pool right? I have a single S9, and it says .034%. It keeps saying my reward is averaging 0.000096598460 per Th, so 0.0013 BTC daily. I think I'm doing something wrong here. It must be "well" over 0.0018 haha. Because that's how much a friend of mine is doing at Slush. Jeez...

based upon some historicals.  CDT will give you a per TH value just pick which ever one you want to use

Has the pink middle of the shift graph disappeared for anyone other than me?

I like to see the 5nd but I don't see it now.

It's just scrolled off the left of the chart.  We need a Block to bring it back.

If enough people ask similar questions over and over, is the problem new people? Or perhaps could it be the common denominator?

It's the fact that people are inherently lazy, and why would you try to figure it our for yourself or read back 10 posts, when you can just blindly fire off another of the same old questions.  Doesn't matter what the topic, it's always the same basic approach.

I've been here quite a while now. I read every single post, replies here. People ask, people get answers. Well, I don't find anything useful at all tho. Many of you basically copy what is written on the website and paste it here. I know there's a mathematical code running on the backend of Kano, and it calculates exactly as how it is intended to. And that's exactly what I asked for, my ramp is at 7.5, my shares are 200k put of pool's share of 7.158.000.000.000 etc... Tell me exactly how to calculate it, I will calculate it. Don't copy the 5Nd and paste it. Can you..? And believe me, I was here tryna learn the pool system before I started mining here.

Really Dude, read every single post ever?  This was from 5 pages ago from the horses mouth

And secondly you might try the help->payouts link on the main website.

on the good news front, another month and I hope to add another 25Th to the pool.  that should bring me to around 55 total or so is the plan...

(figuring if nothing else, another whimpy 25Th will *scare* the block out... wishful thinking I'm sure)

Can someone suggest a *NOOB* starting setup that will be a good example around profit mining.

I did the obvious and enabled everything and let 6 1080Ti's run for 2 days.  But with all the coin conversion costs  and pool fees, I made less than I made just mining ZEC on Flypool with the same setup.  Wasn't expecting that.

The numbers suggested the completely opposite that just simply didn't work out.

So, lets get a little more real.  What would you suggest as a starting point?

Thanks in advance,

Actually, I'm not sure any of the numbers over that at minergain make sense at the moment.

This can't be right for example.

Slush pool, 0.0106307 CDT (week).

Wouldn't that mean using the weekly numbers that every day, every TH/s would make .01BTC?

So 5TH would make .05 a DAY?  If so, I want some of those numbers...

BTW, not trying to PAN minergain, I just think the numbers are broken either in general or due to the change they made yesterday

haha...

there goes that theory/advantage/whatever you want to call it.

i guess the math is either wrong or right, but if the later, doesn't present a very pretty picture... I guess we'll hope it's wrong.

Check out this mornings version of minergain.com - changing that N/A for the week to 0.0000 inflicted all sorts of punishment on the numbers it appears. Sad

I'm not sure why everyone seems to think this month is so bad...with the average pool hash rate we've had this month the expected number of blocks is somewhere between 8.2 and 8.4...we already have 8.  Even if we don't get another that's pretty damn good!

Im not saying things are bad.  For a while, lots of people pointed to the numbers that were shared on Minergain.com as a reference for the benefit of this pool.  That all *appears* to have fizzled away yesterday when the owners of minergain agreed to change the weekly number to 0 instead of what was prior a N/A because there had been no blocks found.  I suspect, but who knows what the math is, that those N/A's weren't being counted in the percentages and now that they are and at zero, it's strongly impacted what was presented as an advantage.

Granted that's just a data point and it may not be an accurate one now as there may be other math issues that it uncovered.  For me personally, I know that at slush in 6 days I was paid .01 BTC, the next .01 BTC took 10 days and this was all at the beginning of this month (I've only been here since the 18/19th).  The above was with 14TH same as here.  I got a small amount on the last block .001<something> from here and so I'm really curious what the first *real* block for me will look like.  That will tell me some of what I want to understand in a bit more imperical way than percentages and numbers that may not be correct.... We'll see, not going anywhere just curious

As a new miner, my gripes are many; take it as constructive criticism.

There are a lot of repeated questions on here that could be easily addressed by an updated more concise website.

There is no way to know exactly where your ramp is, and with a ramp up taking over a full difficulty adj period, that is a lot of time to wait, coming from someone who already waited 2 plus months for their miner to arrive.

The website sucks: Compare it to slush, because yes that is the biggest competitor. Their interface is gorgeous. Lots of information, lots to see. All relevant stuff is addressed and laid out.

The app sucks: Again compared to slush, its ridiculous.

Spend the time and money to update the site. Make it more user friendly.(read newcomer) I'm slowly getting the hang of things, but I have to say none of the questions I've needed addressed would have happened at slush. Theres really no reason for the website and app to suck so hard in what is more or less the top of the computing world.

Ever wondered where the time and $$ comes from to make websites glitz and glamour? Or for that matter to pay to maintain them?  If so, you'll know exactly why there is the difference between payouts, pool fees, miner rewards, etc.

In a bunch of other hobbies that I have, it seems the same concept applies... Appliance operators and those that understand the technology and how to apply it.  I drank the slushie and left it because the more I understand the process the more this pool makes sense.  When I was an appliance operator, slushies seemed/felt good... but they were just slushies.

So a question... Anyone thought whether it will be possible to run an 821 on the same PSU that a 741 was running on... One of the HP server PSU's and DPS-1200-FB-1A - on 240v?  I think on paper the 741 and 821 draw the same wattage don't they?  If so, then it should be feasible.

Looking for the model # of this PSU: http://www.parallelminer.com/product/2400-watt-power-supply-kit-for-gpu-mining-94-efficiency-200-240v-up-to-24-gpu/?wpam_id=1

I've checked out Delta's website and cannot find it anywhere.

Thanks Smiley

specifically, it's a DPS-2400-AB

but good luck finding any, they are the dodo bird became extinct about the same time.

In regards to supporting both a 741 and 821 on the same controller(I know it has been discussed elsewhere but I have follow-up questions that is more directly related to the pool so I will ask this here):

If I purchase a an 821 to go along with my current 741, it sounds like I'm fine with one controller, as long as I don't use the controller to alter or update any settings or software on the miner itself?   Since I seriously doubt I am enough of a mining geek to ever want to do that, I would prefer the simplicity of a single controller (plus, I would have to blow 10-15 bucks on a mini network switch in addition to the Pi, the case, etc).

Next question:  I would assume "best practice" for this pool (or probably any pool for that matter) is to combine the hashing power of all your machines onto one worker?(would avoid another 5Nd ramp up).  Or is a unique worker; each handling a group of identical machines, helpful in some other way I am not aware of?

Lastly:  it appears the each controller only supports one worker.   Have I just not looked close enough?   Would an option to support another worker materialize if I plugged in a second USB cable from another AUC?

Inquiring minds would like to know.  Thanks in advance!!!

If you have all unique workers you could spot a problem and identify offenders instantly.  If you run them all under one worker then you have to try to pinpoint which machine is causing a drop in hash rate.
Probably not appropriate for this forum.  But if you run a 741 and an 821 on the same controller, which firmware will you run on the controller?  the 821 or the 741?  And when  it comes time to update the MM firmware one won't know how to do that other.  You get the I2C block with either, and rPi3's are pretty cheap and the firmware is online for free.  So why not put the 741's on one and the 821's on the other... That's my plan.

Besides at the end of the day aren't you infinitely more happy that you don't have to have a million enet cables connected, one each to every miner like you do on some brands Smiley...

But seriously, this really isn't a Pool question, it's a hardware one and you would probably be served better asking it there to the Avalon guys.

Kano, What do the 3 green bullets in the top left corner of kano.is indicate? I noticed the bottom one was red briefly yesterday. Thank you,

my guess is they match up with the 3 lines next to them on the right?

Hey all!

Sorry if I sound noob but where do I see the ramping status of my s9 in kano's website?

Shift graph. On the right is what your average is, with a red indication line. It moves up quite slowly.

Note that the redline is actually not your ramp but the average over the entire period shown (24 days I think). If you are not ramped up and we hit a block the payment will be on a larger amount of hash than the redline shows. Not a huge amount more but more, or at least it has been for me.

Where's the *like* button when you need it Smiley

not sure why you say that... I started on the 16th with 15Th, I'm up to around 8-9Th of ramp after 9 days (with the caveat that the red line may be an approximation given how it's actually calculated)... so the number that has always been under help->payouts seems quite reasonable and accurate.  I've since added another 15Th so I'll have to let those catch up as they will.

Thanks, I set out with the intention of giving a month or two to the pool anyways. Was just a bit disappointed by the slow ramp while my other S9's were pulling in daily profits on Nicehash, etc. Smiley

You have to remember that ramp time is influenced by overall pool hashrate, and if your S9 goes down for just a bit it's going to take time to FULLY ramp because you have those zero shifts in there. I started on January 12th and I'm at 12 out of 13.5 for my initial 13.5 Th/s so it was accurate for me. Also, I missed a few shifts in there thanks to having to do the unthinkable and taking my s9's offline. Just hang in there and wait for the blocks to hit. The day that I started was the beginning of a 4 or 5 block party (You are welcome everyone that was fully ramped!  Grin) so it will definitely be worth it when I am fully ramped. The last block we hit I was right around 7Th/s ramped so you are on pace to match the math.

hang in there...MINE ON!

But what you fail to remember is that you continue to get paid *even* after you bail on the pool (shudder the thought).  So the ramp cuts both ways.  But all you have to do is check minergain.com and you'll see why there are die hard fans here... even tho it's a relatively small pool with low block per day counts...Smiley

Hi guys, relatively new to Kano, have only been mining a few days. Can someone please explain the "ramping" and how long this takes? My last payment was pretty dismal and it seems I was only mining at around 3THs. I'm using one S9 which mines at around 13.7THs. Where can I see the current mining speed I am actually contributing? Thanks!

See help->payouts on the website,

Also, read back about 10 pages or so on this forum

and finally, login to your kano account and look at the shift graph, the thin red line will tell you what your current ramp value is vs your instantaneous contributing hash rate. And it appears the current ramp is ~ 15-16 days
