moneroaddress.org does not work even if you select AEON at the top of the page? If not that should be reported to the maintainer of the site.

I had not noticed there is a Monero/Aeon tab at the top of that page. Probably the seed works when the tab is selected for either respective coin.

Monero GUI has a box for the amount to be send. Right side of that box is a button "All". That button is better to be removed, so that no one will accidentally send all xmr.

Is there any checksum to verify here
https://github.com/aeonix/aeon
that I have downloaded the secure version of AEON source code?

AEON uses old-style mnemonics, before they were changed in Monero. They're not compatible.
Hmm. Yea they are not directly compatible, but are they like almost?

Check this.
Quote
Mnemonic seed

The mnemonic seed is a string that comprises 24 (Aeon) or 25 (Monero) words and allows you to recreate your private keys. Keep it secure!

https://moneroaddress.org/

Both, Monero and AEON are mentioned there. So I was wondering, that there could be selected either 24 or 25 first words from the mnemonic seed, depending is the seed used for AEON or Monero.

Works for Aeon

Well ok. durinsmine.com works for AEON while moneroaddress.org does not. I just do not understand why AEON is mentioned there?

Could someone tell how to compile AEON wallet from source to Linux Ubuntu.

I think you should basically just need to install cmake, boost libraries, and build-essential package, cd into aeon directory and type "make"

Pretty much this and there is also some information in the README

Well thank you dudes. I succeed to compile AEON-wallet from source to Linux Ubuntu. It took about an hour to compile it by my slowest laptop.

These were the commands i did before compiling.
Quote
t@t:~$ sudo apt-get install cmake
t@t:~$ sudo apt-get install build-essential
t@t:~$ sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
So those packeges needed to be installed to be able to compile the AEON-wallet.

When the compile was being done, these texts run to the command line.

Quote
t@t:~/T/aeon-master$ make
mkdir -p build/release
cd build/release && cmake -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release ../..

Could you check that everything was done just right? At least the daemon and the simplewallet seems to work just fine. But I want to be sure.

I noticed that Monero has 25 word seed and AEON 24 word seed.
On here
https://moneroaddress.org
Should I fow AEON just use first 24 words and exclude the last one word?

Anyway is there any sha256sum check for the AEON source?

Why this Linux compiled version is not on aeon.cash site already?

Could someone tell how to compile AEON wallet from source to Linux Ubuntu.

I am using monero v0.11.1.0 on Linux Ubuntu

I created a full wallet with CLI. It took about 4 minutes to sync with remote node.

I created a view only wallet with CLI. It will take maybe an hour to sync with remote node.

I created a full wallet with GUI. It took about 7 minutes to sync with remote node.

I created a view only wallet with GUI it will take maybe many hours to sync with remote node.

Why there is such a huge difference sync time?

Anyway when I sync any of those wallets to localhost, to the blockchain on my own laptop, the sync seems to be very fast. Just a few minutes. Then only the blockchain sync to other nodes takes time, but it has to be done from scratch only once.

I followed these rules to compile AEON wallet for Linux Ubuntu from source.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/6exnrd/aeon_wallet_for_linuxubuntu/

First I gave this command.
sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake libboost-all-dev1
But it said the package can not be found.

Then I gave this command
sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake libboost-all-dev
And it installed the package.

So I just removed that number 1 from the command and the package was installed. Is That just fine? Will there be the cmake which is needeed?

At aeon site there is only available windows wallet and source. Is it possible to compile a linux wallet from source?

Would love to be above dash again, but above 2Bil would be pleasant.

Still waiting for acknowledgement of dm's moving Monero's direction, but that may take some time to sink in.

Positive confirmation of this movement will probably require implementation of Multi Sig.

Prediction: If As and when we move toward Dash's MC we'll see a corresponding pump from them. They won't give up easily.

You are right. There is dash pump going now when xmr got right after dash. It happened immediately.

This goes little side of the the threads topic, but anyway relates to it like the way like most coins marketcaps relates to the others. I am blessed to own same amount of BTC and BCH but pissed of when alts and XMR get hit. So BCH is risig while BTC and alts are falling. Is it becouse some dude said this?
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-classic-shuts-down-as-staff-claim-bitcoin-cash-will-rule-in-6-months

And about the blockchain bloat. That I have been wondering also.

Moore's law may be breaking down, but storage density is going 3D.  NSA and YouTube's scaling issues turn blockchains into noise, and blockchain storage will ride on their coattails. After 3D there is MRAM to come.  Tech isn't going to stand still. When home storage is measured in petabytes, XMR as it stands today suffices to store every transaction in the global shadow economy which is large enough to justify the recording fees.

Hmm. Well that is relaxing. Some interesting articles can be found by googling "3D memory" and "MRAM". When do you think these technologies will be available for regular Joes?

Which will be more significant hardfork. Bitcoin Gold or Segwit2x?
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 23, 2017, 04:16:43 PM
Bitcoin will have its hardfork at block 494784.
https://www.coindesk.com/block-494784-segwit2x-developers-set-date-bitcoin-hard-fork/

If block time is about 10 minutes it will take about 25 days to reach that block.

And now people are selling alts to buy bitcoin. And every alt is decreasing. Do you think alts bear market will last as long as fork happens?

Well you see how confusing Bitcoin is.  You are talking of second hardfork. The first one Bitcoin Gold should happen tomorrow. The new cryptocurrency is expected to form after the hard fork split on block 491,407

Ok. Well good to know. I have heard about that Bitcoin Gold. But I have forgot or mixed with SegWit2x.

Yea bitcoin is strange. But I will hold also it and its forks. Lets hold on.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 23, 2017, 03:58:08 PM
That what is fine now is that Monero is decreasing less than many other kryptos.

This is decentralized exchange.
nvo.io

The wallet will available at the beginning of the November and exhanchange at Q1 2018.

Project is completely open source and each coins devs can make their own plugin for the wallet. I do not know does the nvo team do the plug in for monero, but anyway monero devs can do it. Monero logo is anyway at nvo demo video in youtube.

Are monero devs aware of this project?

After "and an unknown amount of Monero", it looks like the DNMs are finally starting to make their moves into XMR.

They were talking about Multisig there. When Monero will support it?
