161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIVX] - PRIVATE INSTANT VERIFIED TRANSACTION - POS 2.0 - ZEROCOIN PROTOCOL on: July 15, 2017, 06:14:24 AM
The Zerocoin protocol requires a trusted setup. The risk with this specific protocol is the trusted party is able to mint an unlimited amount of coins. I see no documentation from these developers on how they plan to proceed with the initialization. All they've managed to do here is hire a decent graphic designer and post a bunch of whitepapers from other projects.. this doesn't equal credibility nor should it warrant investment.

A word of investment advice from someone who has specialized in the privacy vertical since 2013 - stay away from projects that don't have the necessary talent to release their own whitepapers or properly address concerns such as this achilles heel. Every time there is a major pump in cryptocurrency world its always followed up with a few projects promising Zerocoin. The only one still around is Anoncoin, whose lead dev is also the lead of the i2p project. They've been pioneering the RSA-UFO process for years without success even despite possessing the technical qualifications.

Unless this project has a cryptographer advising or working with them I would advise that you stay away. The underlying foundation of any cryptocurrency is cryptography and if a team doesn't know what they are doing they will run the risk of causing you financial exposure. This is even more important when dealing with distributed privacy protocols whose weak design and/or implementation can lead to imprisonment, persecution and death.

If this project was legit they would of released a whitepaper before they launched addressing their methods to achieve a trustless implementation. The lack of one proves otherwise.

Quote from:  Zerocoin Whitepaper
Our protocol assumes a trusted setup process for generating the parameters… accumulator trapdoor (p; q) can be destroyed >>immediately after the parameters are generated.

This is a serious flaw. All past transactions can be revealed with knowledge of (p,q). How can i trust the developers to destroy the (p,q)?

Quote from:  Zerocoin Whitepaper
"Alternatively, implementers can use the technique of Sander for generating so-called RSA UFOs for accumulator parameters without a trapdoor [26]."

I looked the paper and noticed: 1) this is probabilistic algo; 2) it can be performed by a single person — and again we need to trust. How exactly can it be implemented in p2p network like bitcoin without requiring trust?

Moreover: if trapdoor (p,q) will eventually recovered by some factorization method all past transaction will be revealed and new setup procedure will be required.
zerocash needs a trusted i don't think zerocoin does or at least Zcoin didn't they used some kind of RSA encryption or something of that nature

Both protocols call for a trusted party setup with the exception of the RSA UFO method as per the Zerocoin whitepaper (https://wiki.anoncoin.net/RSA_UFO). Zcoin (the altcoin) also used a trusted initialization.

Zcoin would eventually shift to a different cryptographic scheme for its setup parameters or move to a trustless setup entirely.
IMO, it's another worthless project profiting off uniformed investors. Anyone paying more than $.01 per coin for either project is out of their minds. I called the Zcoin developer out in his slack channel when the project launched last year and told their community the same thing. The community has to trust that the developers aren't minting their own coins and bleeding them into the market. At that point you might as well deal with a central bank's printing press and the FX market.

https://isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdf - It's there on page 6 of this doc.  Thanks for the warning about this, any devs care to comment about this issue?

Interesting discussion and ideas:

My pleasure. I usually avoid these types of posts because cryptocurrency communities are tribalistic in nature, which usually leads to cultist denial followed up by personal attacks on the messenger. Although, I felt obligated since nobody has brought this up after 427 pages and more than likely the majority here are new to this technology.
the zerocoin protocol has a coin supply that can be audited unlike zerocash

Let's discuss about economy. There are farmers who have to sell their token for btc.
How about buyer side? Who have to buy STORJ month by month?
The slide of token price makes me little by gloomy.
Those who need centralized storage will buy it on market and will pay you for this space. Its simple.
it says 950% up on Bittrex what happened here?
good point mate im also trying to find out how this system can be profitable or coin holders since the coin can be mine using the hard drive
as i also wanted to learn how to work it out then suddenly something is forcing me to think twice since i don't see real uses of this project
as we still waiting for the full blast of development.
Maybe we should give it time before too early conclusions. I don't know for project which providing blast of updates and news..This is coding and 90% of work is debugging and testing..
1000% increase why the pump?
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TenX [ICO] end of June: making Blockchain assets spendable on: July 11, 2017, 06:27:48 PM
I've been monitoring this coin for the past 3 days. The only reason this coin hasn't skyrocketed is because someone or someones are selling at bid price every time there is a small increase in price. They lose money to keep the price low.

If there was a natural sell wall because the coin is overbought the price would have stayed the same because you just don't sell cheap to lose money, you try to get the max out of your coins. Someone selling 0.000005 lower than last ask prince is someone trying to lower the price artificially.

Either they do this to buy cheaper later or they do it to sabotage the coin. I don't think they can do that much longer though. But that is the problem with cheap coins, it is easy to manipulate the price.

On the good side though, in a month or two when this product is fully active and available the demand will raise and no sell wall will stop it. Remember this is a finished product at a prototype stage not just a whitepaper.

Ingore FUD trolls. Probably same assholes trying to lower the price.

The only thing they are achieving with this is to distribute PAY really nice.
have you looked around it's been a god damn blood bath in the crypto markets, Wall Street is moving out

What or who decides if DGB hits the Chinese and Korean market? As i look at many coins i see very high volumes (100 - 200 million per day) of trading per coin at those markets....
And it looks natural to me that the coin will only come out stronger if it hits those markets...

Don't worry. Hold your coins. It will come back in time. DGB is a solid coin that has been around a while.  Smiley

DGB is not a solid coin and is still overvalued. Its price should be between 100 and 200 satoshi, and now it is 500 satoshi. I expect its price to fall back below 200 satoshi soon, maybe even below 100 satoshi.
now that its broke the 600sats it very well could drop to a 100sats or less,

Has anyone hit a block solo mining the wallet with myriad-groestl? I found 6 in a week pool mining so I switched to solo and haven't found a single one in a week.. could be just bad luck but might also be something else.

I'm using an older wallet (v4.0.3) as I couldn't get mining working on the newest version. I'm using sgminer.

Also has anyone figured out how to setup a dgb myriad-groestl pool? I tried nomp and unomp and both fail.. Even tried the digihash source and that also isn't working. Even the digihash site doesn't support that algo.

Thanks
the in wallet miner is probably nowhere as efficient as the pool miner you're using I could be completely wrong tho

Wow, there are a lot of April/May 2017 user join dates talking down DGB.....Coincidence?
Because people are losing money and if you know what that means, the technically challenged traders are always going to FUD the coin.

yea newbies that bought at the peek, lost some btc on its downtrend because they can't trade for shit so naturally they talk shit and fud the coin they where silly enough to buy at the peak..... just the natural course of events here lol.
You sound pretty confident, how much DGB++ have you made in the last month ? I need to know what smart traders do in such crises.

I sold at 2000 after buying at 700, now just sitting back waiting for it to find a stable bottom.

you have 2 choices, sell or hold depending where you bought in......
looks like might hold at 600 otherwise look out could see prices around 100 sat

Very interested in this coin... Can't wait for the MTP implementation.... Can we also have an update for easier mining on the GUI wallet please?
Hmm, but I thought, that MTP was released already, wasn't it?

174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SNT] Official Status Network Speculation on: July 03, 2017, 11:56:49 PM
Price is creeping back up. 0.00002168 at the moment ($0.053) and it doesn't seem to be dependent on any eth price swing either.

Yes a very good sign. 1eth was 10k snt, and although no big moves from eth.
Snt is going very good. Hope to see the 0.06$ this week

Personally I'm hodling for a minimum of $1.00

I think this is within reason in the coming months. A new crypto surge is on the horizon  Smiley
6.8 billion marketcap?

First of all, that's $3.4B marketcap hehe

Second, it is possible ofc, why not? global cap was $60B last month, and already $100B.
once global cap goes $200B, you really think status can't sit with $3.8B? that's where it's heading.

And what will happen with $400B cap? you get it.

total coin supply is 6.8B no?

What was the ico price?

ICO Price was 150 to 100 MCO per ETH. Right Now the Price is 130 MCO per ETH in Bittrex. So the MCO price is still below ICO price for most ICO participant.
what was the price in dollars?
