161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Contest: Predict the exact possible bitcoin price for 22-3-24 and win merits on: March 19, 2024, 08:31:09 PM
I am not a good speculator but I am going to try. My prediction is $67k - $68k.

OP wanted an exact number, so you shouldn't tell it with a $1k margin of error. The way this works you post a  number like 67500 and the person who gets the closest to the real price wins.

Here's mine: 69300, although we're 50:50 between a fast recovery and continuation of the uptrend and longer consolidation on the 60k level fort a few weeks. It all depends on how much GBTC decides to dump next week. Nothing - fast recovery. The way they're dumping now - possibly sub 62k price and a few weeks of waiting.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: March 19, 2024, 08:17:58 PM
Due to house edge, if you get hooked and keep playing for a long time, and I don't mean days or monts, but years, you will lose for sure. There's no cheating on the part of the casino, it's just math. They lose money on people who get lucky and don't gain confidence to keep playing. The casino wants you to feel good, like you're a winner and keep playing for years so that they can slowly but surely take a few percent from you. That's the whole point.

They're fine with you winning x5 your bankroll, as lonmg as you come back to bet again and again because even that x5 will eventually get reduced if you play long enough.
163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump is senile (and Biden is not) on: March 15, 2024, 07:37:48 PM

There is no evidence Biden is "anti-crypto", and Bitcoin has quadrupled under his tenure.

Not true, there's plenty.

Biden called cryptocurrency investors "wealthy tax cheats and crypto traders" during G7 forum in Japan.

Biden made a similar swipe against Republicans earlier in May, with his Twitter account suggesting that while Democrats want to plug crypto tax loopholes worth $18 billion, Republicans want to cut a near-equivalent $15 billion in food safety inspection funding.
https://www.dlnews.com/articles/regulation/tornado-cash-attacked-as-biden-attacks-crypto-traders/

He also opposes bitcoin mining.

On Thursday, February 22, Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms, along with industry groups Texas Blockchain Council (TBC) and the Chamber of Digital Commerce, initiated legal action against key agencies of the Biden-Harris Administration. The lawsuit targets the US Department of Energy (DOE), the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), challenging the administration’s recent steps to gather detailed energy consumption data from the cryptocurrency mining sector.
https://cryptodaily.co.uk/news-in-crypto/bitcoinist:us-bitcoin-miners-sue-biden-administration

He's also for CBDC and ideally wants all bitcoiners to report their holdings and transactions.
He wants full surveillance of assets, he's anti privacy and anti freedom. His administration was behind the environmental attack on bitcoin.

The Biden administration in September 2022 released a comprehensive report from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, “Climate and Energy Implications of Crypto Assets in the United States.” This was the first salvo from the White House raising concerns over bitcoin mining’s harmful impacts on the environment.
https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news-release/2024/02/ewg-applauds-bidens-plan-shine-spotlight-climate-pollution

This was an attack, nothing more because it was later disproved that bitcoin is bad for the environment. Bitcoin miners don't produce any CO2 and do not pollute the environment. They help to stabilize the power grid and often use electricity that would otherwise be wasted.

I can find more examples, but I feel like this is more than enough to prove a point.

As for the argument that it quadrupled, it went up over 20x under Trump in 2017-18. If that's an important factor, we have a clear winner.

164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: March 15, 2024, 07:20:48 PM
Funeral costs are very high almost like in all countries, sometimes people do not have enough money to pay these expenses, that is why it has become very fashionable to do so-called cremations,

I guess that's the problem in third world countries because I've been living in a few European countries and you get these expenses covered by social security. There's a special fund that if the person had paid their social security, will pay out a certain amount of money, usually close to 2k EUR. It may not cover the whole cost, but it will help you with the most important things like cost of cremation or coffin, transport and preparation of the body and all that.

I've never heard of that. None of the people I know gamble to raise money for funeral and gambling is not something we do when a person dies. Gambling is treated like meeting with people to play video games, you don't do that to commemorate someone, but rather to laugh and have fun.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is really unexpected on: March 15, 2024, 07:01:08 PM
I plan to take a break again from gambling, but a few days ago, I saw an opening slot for this online casino campaign, BC Game which was a campaign being promoted on this forum. To apply you have to have an ID number on their website. Since it is required, I created an account. I think to myself that since I already have an account, why not try playing to kill some time?

This is exactly what they want you to do. They make you get an account and often deposit wins to that account so you're more incentivized to try your luck. They're luring you in. IMO this is a bit shady of the casino. I've never liked to promote casinos that did it and I don't think I ever did.

That said, congratulations on your win and withdrawal. I'm happy that you spent the money instead of gambling with it over and over. You're a realist, which is healthy in this industry. I also hope the story is true and not a way to promote the casino Wink
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Online Casinos Publish Their Bankroll? Your Thoughts? on: March 14, 2024, 07:32:19 PM
You're asking about pros and cons, so here's mine:

P.
-Transparency. Showing an address with their bankroll and signing a message with it shows people the business is real and can be trusted. It of course can be faked because you can ask someone rich to vouch for you, while your real address is much smaller, but it's a step in the right direction and if any analysts prove that it was manipulated your company will take a PR hit.

C.
-vulnerability. By making an address public you're opening yourself to attacks, especially when your business is small. The attackers will know how much they have to bet to potentially bankrupt you, but it's up to you to limit their max bet in such case. Also, by analyzing the outflows they can find out what your exchange is, which can lead to some dangerous situations if an exchange goes down and somebody publishes that it could affect you.
167  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump is senile (and Biden is not) on: March 14, 2024, 07:20:37 PM
"The oranges of the investigation" Cheesy

To be honest, they both suck. They both have their flaws and they both have stupid policies.

For instance, I wouldn't vote for Trump because of his attitude towards the war in Ukraine and NATO. IMO the US should help Ukraine and the world should clearly cut any ties with Russia because of the war crimes it is committing, but Trump thinks he can save some money by not fighting the biggest bully in the room and allow it to roam free and spew lies. As for the NATO, I feel like it should break any treaties it has with Russia. Not attack it first, but draw a clear line as to what will be allowed and what will not be. A good example is what Russia is doing with its air force. It constantly flies military aircraft into the NATO air space to spy and make threats. NATO should warn Russia that next time military aircraft with transponders turned off enter NATO air space they will be shot down.

I wouldn't also choose Biden because he supports the creation of CBDC and is anti-crypto. If he had free reign he'd ban gun ownership and many other things.  Why would I vote for someone who wants to limit my basic rights?
168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin have 2 options to stop war or get russia occupied by france on: March 14, 2024, 07:05:08 PM
HaHa, The USA and NATO have already lost the proxy war against Russia. Their use of amateurs and sanctions have strengthed Russia, and allowed it to design weapons to counter the best creations of the privatised military complex. The current military seems to be full of wobbly wokes, who are unlikely to fight in case they break a fingernail. Pretty soon we will see the real results of losing the war in Ukrain. Some say it will be the occupation of Alaska. It used to be Russian, and many of the residents speak Russian, and are of Russian descent. His justification will be a claim for compensation for the assets seized by the US, and it may be difficult to argue against that. Especially if Alaskan residents want to rejoin an expanding economy, rather than being associated with a declining country that is intent on destroying itsel.

Everything in this world used to belong to someone else, the question is how far are you willing to go? Czech Republic and Slovakia used to be one country and in the 19th century it belonged to Austria.
After 1923 a large part of Ukraine was Polish, before that it used to belong to Austria, and before that to Lithuania. What does it matter? If we question the borders established in a different century it will only lead us to endless wars and chaos.

Why should Germany accept its borders after 1945, since it lost a part of the country to Poland? Why should Poland accept that it lost a part of its land to Russia in the same year? I remind you that Kaliningrad used to belong to the Prussians (Germans), then it was claimed by the Teutons, who were later defeated by Poland and their territories claimed. Then Prussians took it back for and then it again was given to Poland after the WW1. Historically it was never a Russian land, so why should Germany and Poland accept that it's now Russian and Putin is storing missiles there?

The only way for peace is to stop all fighting and accept the situation as is. Lay out clear rules that the one who attacks another country will be attacked by all its neighbors.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soo, bitcoin is now over 70K on: March 14, 2024, 06:43:59 PM
Threads like this always make me wonder why people ignore good advice given by others for free? We were telling you not to hold money on exchanges for years, but greed is stronger. Either it's greed or laziness, because I'm sure that OP heard the phrase not your keys - not your coins.

As for SBF, there will be others like him. There are people like that in every business, so at least try to be more careful and avoid them. I can bet anyone that there will be another Do Kwon, another SBF, another Mark Karpeles, just give it some time.
170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can divorced couple reunite?? - please share experience on: March 13, 2024, 08:26:30 PM
You don't step into the same river twice. Do you know this saying?

I know a few divorced couples and they usually don't even talk to each other. There's too much bad blood between them and they don't want to try to fix things bevause they had enough time to try it out and failed. They know each other well now and are aware that they're incompatible.

The only thing that often joins divorced couples are children.

171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is worth more than Silver on: March 13, 2024, 08:13:57 PM
And is crazy to think, How a virtual asset can be worth more than a precious metal? It's crazy times that we are living in, and money and value are just losing sense. Markets decide what should worth a lot and what should crash.

Not crazy at all. Imagine how much silver you'd have to own for it to be equal to 1 bitcoin. 1 kg is $800, so 1 bitcoin at 80k would be 100 kg of silver.
How would you move that around? How would you take it with you if you had to leave the country? How would you even take it to an exchange? You'd have to take a car and hire someone to help you unload it, because even if you divide it into bags with 20kg each, that's 5 bags you have to carry from the car to the exchange.

What if I told you my investment in bitcoin is far greater than just 1 BTC. Why would I keep hundreds of kilos of silver?

Precious metals suck when you really have a lot of wealth to allocate.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Blackrock control BTC? on: March 13, 2024, 07:44:51 PM
How much do they own right now? 1% of the supply?
Why are you worrying about them controlling bitcoin if they don't even and probably never will own more than 10% of the supply?

Let's speculate though. What makes you thing that controlling 50% of the supply makes anybody gain control of bitcoin. You gain control over the price, but you have no control over nodes and the other 50% of bitcoin owned by private investors. Buying bitcoin does not make you buy the network. Blockchain and nodes don't discriminate. You can have 1, or 1 million bitcoin and you're treated equally.
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Get one btc right away or 5 btc with a bet? on: March 12, 2024, 08:35:37 PM
From the poll I conclude that most people here are poor and see 1 BTC as a big deal. Of course if you offer someone from the West a million dollars now or 5 million with a bet he will probably take 1 million now because it's such a large amount of money.

I don't see 1 BTC as a lot of money, so I'd risk the bet. Mathematically it's a much better option because you get 2:1, and with such odds you should be getting 2BTC, but you're getting 5, so 2,5x the base amount. Just do the math guys, trying for 5 BTC is so much better! No casino would offer you such trade because they know you'd have a huge advantage. I'm not even mentioning that you're getting free money without having to risk anything, but pure odds are great for this money.
174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A mistake you would surely regret on: March 12, 2024, 08:07:13 PM
One of the biggest lies people who invest in crypto are told is that they should build a portfolio of projects and not put all their eggs in one basket.

In reality by investing in bitcoin you invest in the only project that really matters. All those other shitcoins will not exist without bitcoin. Also, bitcoin crashes make the rest crash, so by investing in altcoins you only increase your risk by a certain factor. It's like playing a roulette where you used to bet on colors, but now you also add a number. Maybe it hits and you'll be rich, but maybe it won't. The problem is that a number has a much higher chance of not winning than a color.

Just buy bitcoin, bet on a fighter you know is good, not on someone you've never seen fight, who claims that he's good but is yet to prove it.
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will you finally buy on: March 12, 2024, 07:53:30 PM
To the procrastinators in the building, when will you finally buy? Or you're looking for one sweet excuse you will use this time around?

I know a person like that and I think that I've even wrote a post about him years ago. He's always late for the party. He's been around for years and never made a good decision with his bitcoin. At first he was careful, then finally bought during the bull run, not at the exact top but close to it, waited until bitcoin goes down, sold near the yearly lows and told me he's down over 50% of his money, so I told him to buy back and he did, but panicked and sold again, this time with some profit. Now he's out and we spoke a few months ago and I told him to buy. He said he'd wait a bit because bitcoin went to 30k so fast that there has to be a correction. He's still waiting for it.

The answer to your question is never. Most of them don't believe in bitcoin and will never buy it. They will regret not doing it, but they'll go into resentment and say that they lost their chance and now it's too late.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: March 11, 2024, 09:20:04 PM
Yes, of course it's possible to inherit a gambling debt.

I don't know how often this happens, but inheriting a debt in general is a pretty common thing.

There was a case that I read about years ago where a small child inherited a debt because by law when someone dies you have 6 months to notify the court that you don't want the inheritance and this clears you of any debt, but if you don't do it, it's all on you. The problem starts when you're a child because in such case your parents have to do that for you, but what if you don't even know that someone close has died. Let's say you have a grandfather who lives abroad and you don't stay in touch. He dies, gets buried by some friends, but friends don;'t inherit stuff, so it all fall on you, you accept it and then get to know about the debt.
Pretty shitty situation if you ask me.
177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin have 2 options to stop war or get russia occupied by france on: March 11, 2024, 09:08:20 PM
France army is ready now also the france have one of the best air force and plains in Europe.

Plains? What is that? There's no planes, but aircraft or airplanes.
When I hear someone refer to an aircraft as a plane, I feel like I'm talking to a child.

Quote
However Europe want russia gas and oil yes and likely If russia don't stop war the NATO Will try to invade russia and then will take the gas and oil by Force by france command.
Europe want russian gas and If Putin give them reason they Will come and take it and china will not protect russia becouse of china benefits of strong Europe france Alliance

Now I know I'm talking to a child, or just someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. It's impossible for a country or a group of countries with nuclear strike capability to invade another country with similar nuclear capability. If this happens there won't be anyone to make use of that oil and gas that Russia has got.

Quote
Second point , the invading occupied Nation or country don't give no results let's say russia will invade germany ...that means russia can make bmw Mercedes cars?

That's not a point. That's some childish dream.

Let me give you something to think about. Does Russia share a border with Germany? If not, how is it going to transport its forces there to invade them?
178  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Officially sweden joins NATO on: March 11, 2024, 08:48:41 PM
Quite ironic Russia started this war against Ukraine, in part because of the influence and size of NATO had become much bigger than they were willing to deal with, and after so many months of war NATO has started to actually become bigger and expand in Europe.

Sweden was thinking about joining NATO for years but did not want to undermine its relations with Russia and then Russia made the first step towards genocide, so all doubts that Sweden had disappeared in an instant.

Quote
I believe it is the right message to send to Moscow, they are not supposed to reach their political and geopolitical aims through the use of violence, specially against members of the European Union.

The EU has no military pacts as far as I  know, so it doesn't really matter if a member of the EU gets attacked. NATO is different, it's mainly a military pact.
Quote
What would have happened if Putin realized that attacking a sovereign country was enough for members of NATO to start to quit the alliance? It would be more than enough of a reason for him to perpetuate his aggression against Ukraine and perhaps even against other neighbor countries like Poland. (Perish the thought)

I think I explained a few times why attacking Poland is almost impossible for Russia and the Russians know it, which is why they protested a lot against Baltic States joining the NATO, but not so much when Poland and Czechia joined in 99. Those territories were lost to them long time ago. Putin himself said at the time that he understands that NATO is expanding and Russia will have to deal with that, but when the pact knocked at Ukraine's door it was too much for Putin. He felt like the noose is tightening too much.

179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are people still using bitcoin ATMs? on: March 08, 2024, 08:52:02 PM
I won't say anything specific abut NY, but I do use bitcoin ATMs all around the EU, especially when I travel. They're very easy to use, usually located in shopping centers. The way I usually use them when I want to withdraw some cash is I send a transaction, go eat something and come back in an hour and the money is waiting for me. Yes, it can take an hour or more if you don't want to overpay for fees.

The downside is mainly the ATM fee itself, which is usually high (usually 3-4%). If you add it to the tx fee tha's like $10, it makes ATM pretty useless when you just need $50 for a meal or a train ticket.
180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 08, 2024, 07:57:55 PM
And on the process of waiting for the game to end there was some racism manipulation in the game which made you lost the game.

I noticed that in some leagues, the home team will always win whereas it is not like that in other leagues. I have tried asking questions in the past and I was told that the officials do their best to favor the home sides in order to save their head. I don't know if this can be called racism though.

So now when your team loses it's racism, or referee is a racist because a white team won and a black team did not... What a bunch of bullshit.

No it can't be called racism when one team gets preferential treatment.

There's manipulation in sports, like it is in any other major event. You get manipulation in politics, banks manipulate money, your boss may be cheating you at work, but it's not racism. You guys are crazy with this racist shit. When you get stopped by the police for speeding it's probably also racism, just like when you don't get the job you applied for, the employee had to be a racist.

I don't see racism in major sports events, on the contrary, many champions in boxing, mma and other sports are black and nobody cares. We, normal people, don't see them as blacks, whites, or any other color, but as players, competitors, fighters.
