1041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Make Big Money at the Casino — Without Gambling on: February 22, 2023, 09:49:23 PM
Number one is the dumbest for sure, but the best way to make money out of the ones you gave is to sue them, as long as you have something to really sue about, like getting food poisoning, getting a spiked drink, being beaten by security, kicked out for "cheating" and denied win, when they have no proof... There's a number of options and you aren't  really taking a big risk because most likely the casino will try to settle with you. Lawsuits are bad for business. That's of course unless you're making shit up. In such case you'll lose money and time.
1042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going to make mma predictions blog (for gamblers) on: February 22, 2023, 09:36:32 PM
OP, you're trying to get big in a saturated market. There's a lot of predictions available online and many people just go with their gut or bet on the fighter they like instead of reading what someone else has to say. Try it if you want but your chances of success are low.

I doubt that he will pay too on this contest even if he was not ban.
No one will ever trust him because he has a bad reputation in the forums, he is too pushy to promote his contest even if he has to use another alt account, no guarantee he will pay contest winners unless he uses a trusted escrow service to hold the winning funds, but there is no point in thinking about that and only wasting time. I remember there was a newbie account posting a high bet for his chosen MMA champion and influencing other gamblers to choose the same champion, but his choice was lost and he has lost big money.

Makes you think why he wouldn't change his name and start with a clean slate when his reputation is tarnished. That's what altcoin scammers are doing all the time. Altcoin fails? Change name, change team, get some fake pictures and you're off to another project.

1043  Economy / Speculation / Re: If history repeats itself: 2023 vs 2019 on: February 20, 2023, 10:59:57 PM
This time it also looks different because bitcoin went below 200 week MA and remains below it.
IMO, it's because because there are people trying to keep it there to delay a possible breakout. They know if we break above many traders will think the bear market is over and go back in with what they took out during the panic caused by 2 scammers of the year: Do Kwon and SBF.

OP's 2019 scenario is definitely possible. How probable though? I'd say only 50% because of the SEC manipulation. I believe there are rich and powerful people pulling the strings here, the ones that orchestrated SBF's business, because I strongly believe he was the face here, just like that pair charged with laundering Bitfinex money.
1044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anybody know the documentary starring theymos? on: February 20, 2023, 10:42:17 PM

That's a great list. I've watch some of these and never had time to watch others, but they've been on my list for some time. I don't agree with everything said in them but they give you a certain perspective, makes your opinion stronger about certain facts. Especially liked all the silk road movies.

Yeah, privacy matters, don't post identity related information if you don't want to get banned.

I doubt he cares that we talk about this and you shouldn't be afraid of being banned for it. He's a popular person and it's obvious people will have questions and will be interested in seeing him on camera. When you google his nickname, his real name comes up, so deleting posts that contain it is a waste of time, same as banning people who mention it.

1045  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 17, 2023, 07:43:34 PM
High carb content very unhealthy for long term diet.

Likely it tastes nice.

I would suggest it one or two times a week no more.

Yea, that's what I told him.
Potato chips and coke also taste nice, but try eating it every day. They'll need people to move you out of the house on a stretcher after a few years.

One of the major issues for the worlds diets is not enough cheap quality proteins.

Here is the USA they directly attacked the general population by raising the price of eggs from 1.19 a dozen to 4.49

Eggs were $1.19 in July of 2021 it is a huge price jump.

I guess a lot of it had to do with the way Egg industry has evolved. I remember that in the 90s it was normal for farmers to keep chickens in crowded, dark warehouses. Nowadays in the EU we have labels that tell us what type of farm the egg comes from and you can still find cheap ones where chickens are fed the lowest quality grain and kept in cages. Luckily I have a neighbor that sells eggs and you can see what these guys eat and how they run around. Real bio products are going to become expensive in the coming years.

Whenever I'm out in the evening and in a new restaurant I'm always worried about cheap stuff, the first question is why is this so cheap and how long ago has it expired before turning the page!

I try not to think about this when I eat out, but yea, it's somewhere in the back of my head Cheesy

But seriously, food is the one thing where you don't want to cut costs, but it's also the first thing people like to cut, I would do so with a lot of other things first, health is something you won't be able to recover if you neglect it no matter how much money you make from saving a penny a day. And sometimes it's even worse, people eat garbage food just because they don't have time or are lazy, not because of the price as some fast food junk is becoming far more expensive than normal cooking.
When I was studying I sometimes ate ramen noodles. If you read into it, it's water with salt, glutamate, pepper and those garbage instant noodles that taste like paper and you pay 1 EUR for that crap.
You'd be better off buying potatoes and just eating them boiled with some salt and pepper for the same price.

At some point I started baking pizza and realized that I can have 3 for the price of one if I make it at home instead of ordering and I'll know what's inside. My brother worked at a restaurant and he told me they'd often use moldy sauces for pizza and pasta. If there was a mold on top they'd fish it out with a spoon and boil the sauce for a while. Same thing with vegetables. Mold on a tomato? Cut it out and blend it into sauce - problem solved. Mold on olives? You'd rinse and drain them.
1046  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Trustdice.win cancels winning bets on: February 17, 2023, 07:15:28 PM
Is that friend of yours playing at your house at the same time? because if so that might be enough of a reason to restrict your access to the site.

That doesn't change the fact that it was a win that was ignored by the casino and returned to the player. Clearly there was something wrong with the game itself.
They probably have it in written in their T&C that they are allowed to cancel any bet and return money to the player. Also, this demanding blackmailing stance where you tell them that they have to settle with you or you'll go to bitcointalk and cal them scammers is not the best line of defense Wink

Wait for the provider's answer and let us know how it went.
1047  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Looking for Investors for my Upcoming PvP crypto Casino on: February 17, 2023, 06:49:33 PM
I actually got a few projects, not casino related but I’m on other forums and made money, I put up the link to my profile on my other forum in the post. We need around 5k to run everything, we have someone (the dev) who has experience in running a crypto PvP casino and it’s not that we only have the 800$, I could pump around 1k in it from the money I earned on ogu.gg which I will probably do.

Who is going to have control over these invested funds? You? All of your staff? You and the dev who makes the wallet?
Your ogu profile will not make people trust you. What if I wanted 1k USD from you and said that I can show you my Amazon account as proof that I haven't scammed anyone?

I guess you won't find investors here. You can try to borrow money from a forum member but they will require collateral. Maybe try some conventional routes of raising money and if that doesn't help maybe try gofundme Wink

1048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Recommend your Favorite Slots on: February 17, 2023, 06:36:19 PM
I don't play slots much, but purely for fun I can recommend money train 2. Great graphics, lots of cool features popping up, you shoot guns at slots instead of rolling them which is cool, music is good, it can be entertaining even if you bet a few sats. Oh, and it has pretty high RTP of over 96%. If you play, don't roll one by one, but choose the "buy feature" option. It's the most fun.

There's a lot of nice slot games if you're in for some fun, but keep in mind that you're paying for this entertainment. It's not a game meant to let you win fast but rather get you hooked and keep playing.
1049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How was Bitcoin mining done in the early days? on: February 16, 2023, 09:05:53 PM
Early bitcoin mining was done on PC. Satoshi mined his first coins using his computer's CPU and hoped bitcoin would stay longer on CPU mining, but the demand pushed difficulty to new highs and CPU mining quickly became obsolete.

There are interviews with early bitcoin miners on youtube.

Here's a guy GPU mining bitcoin in 2011 on a dedicated multi-GPU machine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEGIZOO-HYY

Miner who used his home computer in 2011. He says he used to earn about 1 bitcoin a day on his double GPU setup.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFE2FV9ia1s

When I first heard of mining it was impossible to mine on PC anymore. It was all about ASICS.
1050  Economy / Economics / Re: They still think crypto is easy to manipulate? - CEO Crunchbase on: February 16, 2023, 08:47:57 PM
since april 2022 we have seen some of this manipulation

/snip/

this is where whales have been making "futures options" bets on prices and then using a small amout of coin to daytrade arbitrage using bots to create the resistance to keep prices below certain lines. which by the endof 2022(new year of 2023) those whales relaxed their resistances to allow prices to re aclimate to prices over $17k

if you look at the monthly-3monthly charts you can see the1-2 weekly resistance lines of $21.5k. $23k. $24k $23k and this week appears to be a $25k resistance

I'd argue that we've been witnessing this since futures were introduced.
You should remember that in December of 2017 and January 2018 we were in the top of the bull market and at that exact time they opened the CME. The result of that was an instant crash of bitcoin's price and the beginning of these "bart simpson" price patterns. The same patterns with strangely suppressed levels that you're talking about.

I've talked about it years ago, that IMO rich people are using high liquidity and low risk of the CME to bet billions of dollars on the bitcoin market and they're teaming up with bitcoin traders and/or miners to coordinate with their orders.

Why would they do it?
Imagine that  you've got a friend who has a lot of bitcoin left that he got cheap years ago and you both know he's going to sell at some point. He promises to let you know when he decides to sell, so you can bet on futures at that time, you promise to give him a share of your profit.
This system allows people who bought and would never buy bitcoin to profit from the same trade together. But it's worse, if introduced near or at the top of the bear market, futures incentivize shorting. You can be sure people who don't want bitcoin exposure, people who despite bull market don't own any bitcoin, will bet hard on it going down, and that's exactly what happened. The timing was perfect for short sellers, and that's why it was chosen by the CME.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 16, 2023, 08:32:13 PM
You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!

And getting sick in the process. Most of that is carbs. I suspect you haven't had the pleasure of eating rice with beans all day, but I can assure you it's going to lead to gases and constipation.
I could technically eat extremely cheap if I wanted to, for instance buy the cheapest pasta and make a basic tomato sauce with onion, garlic and some basil and a serving of that would probably cost me 2 EUR and keep me full for half a day, but the real question is, do I want to?

And the average wage around there is....?
Cause I would rather earn $1000 and spend $700 on food and utilities than paying 30$ while earning $100.

Unless that $700 of meals would only buy you rice and beans for breakfast lunch and dinner. Cheesy
The price is one thing, but I'd be willing to pay much more if that would mean eating decent food.
1052  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Looking for Investors for my Upcoming PvP crypto Casino on: February 16, 2023, 08:13:02 PM
Hi, Im a 18 year old owner of a upcoming PvP crypto Casino,

You're beginning early, good for you, but since you're youg and with no previous projects it's not going to make people jump from their seats to give you money.

Quote
This might seems sketchy because im new to this forum

Yes it does. New, young, inexperienced guy and already asking for money without showing any achievements.
I wouldn't hire you if you came to my home asking if you can cut my lawn. I'd have to see your gear first and I'd know if you're for real or full of shit.

Quote
We already raised 800$ but are still looking for investors to launch as soon as possible.

How much do you need? Are you trying to start a casino with only a few hundred bucks of your own money? As an investor, I'd expect the owner to have at least 50% of the total budget. If you came to me asking for it all I'd offer you a beer and walk you out the door.
1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else getting deflated with the bitcoin naysayers? on: February 16, 2023, 07:58:55 PM
But of all the discussions I've had with co-workers, friends, and relatives about bitcoin, it seems to fall on deaf ears.  In fact, if talking to more than one person, it seems to be almost a witch-hunt on how bad of a ponzi bitcoin is, and how 'it is backed by nothing', etc.

You're trying too hard. Don't fight them because some people live to argue. By giving them arguments you allow them to attack these arguments or ignore them. You, as the old saying goes, wrestle with a pig.

Quote
Now I realize that this reaction comes out of either fear, ignorance, or not knowing enough about it.  But no matter how hard I try to educate someone on the positives, it falls on deaf ears with some.  And it's deflating to the core.

It often does, in any field. Look at politicians and their debates.

Quote
I've been in this space for 6-7 years.  I can't imagine how tough it must be for some of you OG's.  Do you still try to enlighten others, or do you relinquish to the fact that you aren't really gonna change someone's opinion, only they can do that?

I don't try anymore unless someone approaches me with these ridiculous ideas that it's a ponzi scheme. I simply tell them to give me a definition of a ponzi scheme and show me how it relates to a decentralized payment system.
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choosing between your relationship and gambling. on: February 15, 2023, 09:57:53 PM
I'll really appreciate to have you share some advise on what decision to take if you were to find yourself in this my cousin shoe. For It's been a difficult moment for him this past two days as he has  been thinking of the financial support he at times get from the gambling wins and at same time his fiancee too.

I'd explain to her that I'm winning and I'm being responsible, that I don't chase losses and I don't put my well being at risk. I would never go in debt over gambling and it's just a form of making money.
What she should understand that he isn't trying to end the relationship, she is by forcing him to choose. I'd ask her if she realizes that we're going to have less money if I quit.
The choice depends on how much he loves her, I guess.
1055  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will FTX make a comeback? on: February 15, 2023, 08:39:41 PM
I very much agree. This exchange was not a service that was created in good faith with an honest intention. It was a already a scam and a scheme to launder money for their backers from the very beginning.

From what I have seen and heard from the mouth of Bankman, it does not seem that the whole idea about FTX was started to carry out a scam with premeditation, because he does not seem like a bad person to me, but just very incapable of keeping such a complex business under control. In the first interview he gave after the collapse, he admits that things would have been different if he had devoted at least one hour a day to that work (I'm paraphrasing from memory).

Therefore, he is guilty because he completely lost control, and in addition to his obvious incompetence, some of his co-workers also realized that they can do whatever they want because the boss does not supervise the work.

SBF was a tool that I'm almost sure of, although can't fully prove it. There were much more powerful and much older people than him pulling the strings of his scam. He is incompetent, but I wouldn't say he's not a bad person. Have you seen any of the early interviews? The ones where he avoided answering questions, attacked people who did not allow him to elaborate and kept going straight to the point.
If you think it was all about his inability of running the business, how do you explain a few facts:

SBF bought himself a cheap Toyota to appear "normal" but at the same time he owned a yacht. He wanted to keep the scam going, didn't want people to think he's spending more than he should be.
He bought his parents a house with money he stole from customers. This was a deliberate action on his side. You can't expect a grown up man not to know that it wasn't his money to spend.

IMO he's a typical son of rich parents, an entitled teenager who refused to grow up. A little princess that complained there's no vegan dishes in jail.
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 12, 2023, 06:59:53 PM
I'll ask you a question OP. Imagine a situation when someone asks you where you work, how much you make a month, how many savings you have and in which bank. Would you be fine answering this?
Asking people if they are bitcoiners is very similar to asking all these questions in one go because most of us self custody, so if we own bitcoin, we have it at home. It's rare for people to hold a million dollars at home, but not for bitcoiners, many of us hold large amounts of money, therefore we don't like to talk about it in public. I don't want people to get the wrong idea that I'm some money launderer with a lot of untraceable electronic currency.

When I was a kid there was a physical currency exchange near my home and one day, in the evening, the owner was closing down and leaving with a suitcase of bills. Some guys knew he was armed so they didn't bother reasoning with him, they shot him on the spot and took the money. It was much less than I have on my desktop wallet and probably 100 times less than the coins on my hardware wallet is worth.
1057  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 12, 2023, 06:42:47 PM
They can also provide hedge against inflation and currency devaluation.

Bitcoin isn't and shouldn't be understood as a hedge against inflation because thinking like that can lead you to panic when the math stops adding up. Inflation in most of the EU countries is between 5 and 10% at the moment and Bitcoin lost 60% from its top. How is that an inflation hedge?

Can we achieve financial freedom with bitcoin? Of course but not the way most newcomers think. Bitcoin is not there to make you rich. Financial freedom is your freedom to transact with people all around the world fast and cheap with no limits and no need to exchange currency. It's not you buying bitcoin and becoming a millionaire in a year Wink
1058  Economy / Gambling / Re: Own a profitable gambling site. Looking for investors on: February 11, 2023, 06:13:46 PM
go to a bank looking for 200k loan for an online gambling site? Impossible task. Is it a crypto site and what access would someone have that decided to invest?

Getting a loan for functioning gambling site that brings good money is doable, especially when you have some collateral.

Hey. Sadly that simple math that you made doesn't add up. Appreciate the feedback though. Furthermore any "proof" I don't mind sharing to any serious potential investor over a PM conversation. It's why I asked for people's Telegrams if they were interested. I don't expect you to trust me but at least have a conversation before bashing on it.

His mistake was obvious, but why don't you answer the question all of us have in mind, which is that if you can earn it in 200 days why don't you take a simple loan. Many banks give out $10k just like that if you're a client with stable income. You could use that 10k to start improving the site, maybe pay for some advertising, while saving up from profits.
1059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency industry challenges and impact on Bitcoin? on: February 11, 2023, 06:00:39 PM
What are the current challenges faced by the cryptocurrency industry, and how are they affecting the growth and adoption of Bitcoin?

You are asking question related to Bitcoin and have posted this in altcoin section by mistake. So , please move this thread to correct section.

Here are some challenges being faced by the cryptocurrency industry which are affecting the growth and adoption of Bitcoin

1) Scams : A lot of people are doing scams related to bitcoin and crypto which has reduced the trust of people in crypto. Some people are still scared to use crypto because of fear of these scams.

2) Price fluctuations: Imagine investing in bitcoin when prices where $60000 and it reducing to 1/3rd in just few months. That can also affect the trust and faith of common people in bitcoin. This will however get solved in future with mass adoption. There will be less fluctuations when there are more users.

I don't see any of these things as issues or challenges.
Scams happen everywhere and they are a part of the traditional financial system as well. Most scams, drug and arms deals, prostitution, human trafficking is financed with cash.
The only scams that can be harmful are fraudulent exchanges like FTX, but these usually harm people who hold money there. It's rare for someone who does their business and withdraws on the same day to lose money on defunct exchanges like Quadriga, Mtgox and so on.

Price fluctuations are good for investors because you can be on the winning and on the losing side of things, but with enough caution and dedication you can come out on top.
People who buy the top feel bad about it, but you'd probably want to be one of those who bought the 2013 or 2018 tops. Buying the top means pain, but it doesn't have to mean a loss. Even if bitcoin were to decrease its volatility by 50% there would always be people who buy high and sell low.
1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 10, 2023, 09:03:33 PM
I agree with you OP. I've said it years ago when I first joined the market that IMO most altcoins is just noise that's there to distract you and siphon some of the money away from bitcoin. Many of these coins exist only to decrease bitcoin's market cap and leach into it. You could see it in 2018 when a lot of these bitcoin imposters started to come out like BCG, BTG and so on.

IMO people who are investing in altcoins are either looking for fast gain (pump and dump) ore are hedging against bitcoin, or at least trying to. A good example of a hedging altcoin is XRP but I don't think it's going to come out on top.  don't own any XRP, I see no reason to go against bitcoin. If bitcoin fails XRP and other hedges will fail as well.
