821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How old are you now in bitcoin investment? on: May 25, 2023, 09:12:17 PM
Close to 8 years for me. Congratulations to everybody who held through at least 1 cycle. It's really an achievement not being discouraged by your first bull to bear shift.
There are 2 worst moments for every bitcoin holder:
The first one is going through your first big crash of at least 50%
The second one is being in a bear market for more than a year and starting to lose hope at the bottom.

Once you go through this and see the price recover your view of bitcoin changes by a lot. It's like you went through puberty.

If "Ukrainian Nazis" look like that, I might be interested in joining.

Fucking idiots, at least they would take Turkish armored vehicles. Couldn't keep Bakhmut? Let's send a suicide battalion in American armored vehicles, tell everyone that these are "Russian partisans", let them take over a village club near the border and everyone will die there. Brilliant.

Die? Like those prisoners turned soldiers that fight for Russia?

That suicide battalion made short work of Russian dragon's teeth and is doing good. I saw a video of them being interviewed yesterday and they're in good spirits. Doesn't look like they want to suicide.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Father Rejects Son's Gambling Win on: May 25, 2023, 07:50:22 PM
Interesting, the article didn't mention the financial status of the family either they are too rich so they don't need the money or simply due to religious beliefs but I am surprised with the action of boy he bring the money to his family not used in a wrong way or simply wanted to gamble further with that money.

A smart trick to the boy, simply buy Bitcoin with that money and wait for the future to show you the real growth.

I don't think that you can be so rich to reject that kind of money, especially in Nigeria. Maybe millionaires in USD terms, not in Nigerian currency, could actually reject it and live good, but even if you're far above the average income in the country, that should be huge money for you. A life changing sum of money.
How much he'd be able to improve his life, or the life of his whole family? Probably by a lot.

If you don't want the money for yourself, do something good for others. Help your neighbors, put it in a school fund for your child, or in a savings account so that your kid doesn't have to beg anyone for money when he makes bad choices in life. Don't throw it away or give it back to the casino.

If I were the kid and my father said that the money won't enter his house, I'd agree with him and put it in the bank Cheesy
824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It used to be you could mine on a laptop now I take a loss mining on asics. on: May 24, 2023, 07:28:11 PM
Why not just give everyone the same stake as 1 so we can play the fair game of monopoly and delete all these asic farms?

So you're a socialist. You'd like everyone to be the same and have the same incentive to mine, receive the same rewards and all that. What's next? We'll equalize bitcoin and make all the big wallets contribute to small wallets?
It's completely normal for companies to seek better and faster miners. Competition is good as it fuels innovation and paying more to those who are the best, the fastest, the most innovative, rewards them. If you give everybody the same reward, you'll reward laziness. Why would I rent a warehouse to have enough miners to compete for block rewards if I can get a USB asic miner?
825  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 24, 2023, 07:17:21 PM
Well, that is, you deliberately threw in a fake and do not deny it. And Ukraine sells American military aid in military shops. Maybe I'll quote it too. Grin

I could answer that for Ukraine in the typical "Russian" style.
We don't know how they got them, we didn't provide them, they probably stole these machines from the battlefield.

Remember what Russia was saying about the Malaysian Flight 17 in 2014?
We weren't there, there were no Russian BUK systems in Ukraine. The US provided satellite images of Russian BUKs, but Russia answered that those belonged to the Ukrainian separatists.
Then the US provided satellite images showing the missile launchers were moved after the accident towards Russia - Russia denied again.
People were posting pictures and videos of Russian BUKs with Russian flags painted on them driving on the Ukrainian roads, but Russia kept denying and repeating that there were no Russian forces there.

When they catch you with your hand in the cookie jar, say it's not your hand.

It is possible the Russian soldiers who fought on the Ukrainian side took some of the abandoned vehicles for themselves, the way Ukrainian forces use salvaged Russian vehicles and weapons.
On the battlefield nobody cares who picks up what. If you find a tank - it's yours now. Same can be said about a hummer, or a missile launcher.

Enough buddy well at least you are over 27k

Damn, that didn't last long Cheesy

Not like I care. Wasn't planning to throw any bitcoins at car dealers before the halving anyway, but decent price would make me feel better. "broadcasted crypto"...  mkay
is there an English version / translation of the video somewhere?

I don't speak Chinese, but they were showing a bitcoin logo.
I know that for a shitcoiner like CZ it's all "crypto" but it would be great if people learned that bitcoin and this "crypto shit are not one and the same.

Also, it appears that CZ was really commingling funds according to the Reuters

827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wife discovers husband's hidden Bitcoin during divorce proceeding on: May 23, 2023, 05:03:02 PM
Prenup, guys. No matter how nice she seems, no matter how much you're crazy about her, no matter how supportive and good she seems, ask for a prenup to be signed if you're situated individual.

If she is with you because she loves YOU for you, she wont have any issues with prenup. If she isn't, she'll give you shit and make you feel bad about it. Stay safe, gents

It doesn't change anything in their case because he didn't have these bitcoins before marriage. He bought them later, when he was earning his 3 million a year.
AFAIK a prenup only makes it clear as to what they had as their own assets and assets that belonged to their families, but income earned during marriage is split.
The law even separates the property into personal property (protected by the prenup) and joint property (that gets divided).
BTC was bough with the money the husband earned during marriage, which is why she had the right to pursue it.

Reality has an anti-woke bias.
Man is man.
Woman is woman.

(Males become female by changing organs but cannot change bones.)
Due to which a man is unable to give birth even if he is a woman.

Why are we even discussing this?
I'm always amazed by people who invite these weirdos to talk shows and make them explain how they think they're "between sexes" at the moment because they haven't decided yet what they want to be. 50 years ago such person would be sent to the mental institution for evaluation, now they're making stars out of them.

I have zero issue with an adult wanting to mutilate their body into a sterile body.

A little bit off topic, but...

I have an issue with people trying to make this normal.
There are things that are considered normal and things that we call deviations, or abnormalities.
We all agree that a self-harming person must suffer from a condition, like depression, or some mental illness. We agree that people who crave sex with children are sick, right? Men who cut off their dicks because they feel that there's a woman hidden inside of them aren't well. Suddenly these people are trying to make us all believe that we are sick for not accepting their choices.
When you cut off your nose and stitch it to your butt, you're sick, but when you cut off your genitals, you're OK, it's a choice and those who don't accept that should learn tolerance. And pronouns, don't forget about pronouns!  Roll Eyes

We're living in world governed by idiots and we pay the price.

Just think about it for a moment and you'll reach the same conclusion.

Germany shut down its nuclear reactors to go green and as a result they went dark, because there's not enough energy production in the country to keep the grid stable. They're forced to buy it from France, that, yes, you've guessed it, uses nuclear reactors!
Scotland decided to have green energy, like Germany, so they built some wind warms. Today I've read that they were using diesel generators to defrost these wind farms during winter, otherwise the generators would seize and stop producing power

I did bring a few of my friends but this was only to when a casino had some kind of promo where you could get free money, or play in a free tournament.
I gave my friends some invites and they got free money to play with. Back in 2015 and 2016 there was a lot of such events taking place and you could easily get $20 or more for free, without having to deposit any of your own money. I once got $25, played for 2 hours and withdrew $30, so I got my friends to try their luck.

Yeah, I confess I'm a bit lost. Bear market syndrome. im happy to be in this forum as always. But when I see posts exaggerating cryptocurrencies, claiming they are better than cash, gold, or talking about crypto will save the world very soon, I am inclined to be a contrarian.

Just as people who rode horses were when some weird people were telling them them that cars would revolutionize the world. Those old, loud, smoky machines that can't even reach the speed of a horse?

I could even argue that we aren't in a bear market anymore, but in a limbo between markets.
Technically speaking, a bear market marks constant lower lows, while bull market marks higher highs. What if there are no lower lows and no higher highs and price stabilizes? Yes, for bitcoin this is a stable situation.

Edited 20.5. 2023: If there is a chance that someone want to help me with maybe 2 euros, I added my BTC adress to my profile. I know this has nothing to do with independence so I will respect if you want to delete it.
All good to you. Anyway thanks for your answers and for the encouraging words to this moment.   Smiley

Begging is not allowed, so please, don't do it. If you are in a hard spot, try gofundme, or some other similar service.
I hope you'll reach your goal of financial independence.
If you have skills, you can make money on this forum. Keep checking the services section daily and you should find offers where companies pay you money for reviewing their site. Sometimes they pay for articles, slogans, graphic designs, and it's not 2 EUR, like what you're hoping to get. It's often 20+ so don't try to get money for free when there's so many people who want to give it to you for performing simple tasks.
833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 21, 2023, 07:37:57 PM
I voted maybe because it's not the obligation of the casino to do such survey but doing it is a plus and a moral support from them to the gambler especially if their system noticed the pattern of the gambler spending habits and on how much the gambler is spending. It can also be a reminder as you said about the VPN. I've seen some MMORPG game that is reminding the gamers to take a break because of super long playtime that can affect their health. Obviously it can be the same as the casino but their will be a specific triggers for the reminder or survey since casino don't want to stop gamblers from playing unless the casino can be thrown into an issue about worsts case scenario such as s**cide because of gambling addiction.

It's also not the obligation of a player to take part in such survey.
I think they should do it as long as they keep it in the voluntary form. If gamblers are fine with taking part in this, they will and if they're not, they won't.
From the point of view of the casino it's a good way to know what gamblers like, what changes would they want to be implemented, if they feel comfortable playing, do they understand the rules...
From the point of the gambler, they might have a way to make changes in some rules, like the mentioned VPN.
834  Economy / Speculation / Re: Know your time to HOLD on: May 21, 2023, 07:16:52 PM
Bitcoin market is something no one  can actually tell when it is best to buy or hold instead you buy when you have what it takes to and wait for the outcome. From my little experience I think every time is best to buy and hold  Bitcoin all you need is Patience...

That's what I kept telling people for years. The time to buy is always good, but it can be better. It a;; depends on how long you can wait.
If you buy bitcoin at ATH, you may have to wait 4-5 years for profit, but if you do it at an average price, maybe 40% of ATH, you shouldn't have to wait more than 2 years for an opportunity to either exit with small profit, or at least without a loss.
If you have at least 5 years in mind, you can buy at any moment. I'm sure within that time bitcoin is going to experience a bull market.
I've held for 8 years and it gets easier with every passing year.
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Confirmed That Government Can Get Access To Your Fund on: May 21, 2023, 07:05:29 PM
I’m not updated on what’s happening on Ledger but this news makes me regret on buying this piece shit instead of trezor or other hardware wallet. I thought Ledger is the best due to the wide support of the crypto community but they proven useless in the presence of regulators. I think they are being pressured by regulators to do this kind of stuff from behind since they are perfectly producing ledger hardware wallets without a problem for a long time.

Please enlighten me, Does this firmware update is mandatory or I can ignore the latest  update and still use my hardware wallet normally. This recovery feature is bullshit and now they are making it worse by allowing the government to access my keys.

I think that it was cheaper and more compact than Trezor. I'm talking about 2019 when I bought mine. At the time it was a decent option and I've got mine in person from a physical store, so I did not have to share any personal information with Ledger and avoided the leak.
As long as the cloud update isn't enforced and you can decide not to do it (unless you cannot, but you should be able to, at least for now), I see nothing wrong with this. The problem will start if they one day decide that unless you do the update you won't be able to use the device. In such case I'll probably do it and immediately move my funds, to protect them from theft.
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 💥😮Ripple Launches CBDC Platform For Banks, Governments🏦 on: May 19, 2023, 06:26:17 PM
So, a centralized coin management team that regularly dumps XRP on their investors, to capitalize on the fact that someone believes in their ideas and adoption, is launching another centralized pseudo-crypto mechanism? Not amazed at all.
I'd like to remind you that Ripple's business model relies on promises, starting hype to get new people onboard and dumping some of the XRP that they're holding.
Before you fall into this, check out what XRP was trading for when they were pumping it it and selling empty promises to the public (the hype phase). I'll make it easy for you, it was over $2 in 2017. Then Ripple cashed in on the hype and made the price go to 0.3 USD in one year. Then it kept bouncing between 0.2 and 0.5 USD for 3 years, until the bull market of 2021 and guess what, it's back to 0.4 USD.

So, before you feel like it's time to sell some BTC and buy XRP, think about it for a moment. In late 2018, 2019, 2020 XRP was worth less than 0.5 USD, and so it was in 2022 and now in 2023. One could ask, if there is demand for the coin, why is the price still the same? The price of BTC is much higher than it was in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
It's because of the Ripple dumping. For instance, in q4 2022 Ripple sold $226m worth of coins and in q1 2023 $361m.
837  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 19, 2023, 05:10:10 PM

If they had the 500km range version then yes, but there's another one, with shorter range of only 250km and I believe that one was supplied to Ukraine, to prevent them from striking deep into Russia.
In a straight line, there's only 450km between Ukrainian border and Moscow Wink

I don’t understand why you drag this rotten shit from Ukrainian propaganda here?

What is the propaganda you're talking about?

The Russian tactic is not admitting to any losses and when someone actually counts their wrecked machines, it's propaganda.
The pictures of t-62 in Ukraine are also propaganda, just as Iranian drones were propaganda because Iranians said they weren't selling any to Russia and we could keep counting.

Quote
This is not a tank conflict.

Tanks are the second most deployed military unit of this war, right after IFVs. That's a fact, not propaganda. Artillery has third place.

Quote
The superiority in tanks could have been decisive, but it was not - thanks in large part to the large number of hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers in early NATO deliveries to Ukraine. A couple of hundred Western tanks from late NATO deliveries will not help Ukraine much either.
The problem is Russians barely have any good hand held anti-tank launchers. That's why a Western tank that can take out numerous Cold War era Russian tanks and take a hit from an RPG, or a drone, can make a difference.

Quote
Russia's superiority in artillery, aviation and missiles plays a much larger role at the current stage of the operation. In the autumn of last year, a temporary superiority in numbers played well into the hands of Ukraine, due to this, it was possible to achieve success near Izyum. Now Ukraine has no significant advantage in any aspect.

They are slowly running out of cruise and hypersonic missiles. Artillery doesn't take ground, especially the one Russia uses, as it's not mobile and not accurate enough. It can be used to shell defenses or towns and act as a deterrent. It buys time, but doesn't allow Russians to advance.
Sure, Russia has air superiority, but Ukraine doesn't try to fight them in the air. I've read today that Ukrainians shot down an aircraft with a patriot missile. What's going to happen in a year? Will Russia sacrifice it's air defense forces to attack Ukraine and open itself for a possible attack from the East?
838  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 19, 2023, 10:41:08 AM
I do not agree. Ukraine is now fighting at the maximum of its military potential, for Ukraine it is a matter of life and death. Russia has used its military potential, I think by 15%, for Russia this is a military special operation.
Here's what they were saying 2 months ago:

Russia’s army is estimated to have lost nearly 40% of its prewar fleet of tanks after nine months of fighting in Ukraine, according to a count by the specialist thinktank the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS).
That rises to as much as 50% for some of the key tanks used in combat, forcing Russia to reach into its still sizeable cold war-era stocks. Ukraine’s tank numbers are estimated to have increased because of the number it has captured and supplies of Soviet-era tanks from its western allies.

Its headline count is that Russia’s number of tanks in its army have reduced by 38% from 2,927 to 1,800, while there have been particularly heavy losses of its workhorse T-72B3, an upgrade first delivered to its army in 2013.
Heavy losses on the battlefield have meant that Russia had lost “around 50% of its pre invasion fleet” of the tank and a related variant
Ukraine could fight better with more NATO military support, but firstly, NATO military support for Ukraine already has unprecedented volumes, and secondly, it is not profitable for NATO to inflate the conflict too much so that it does not get out of control.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/feb/15/russian-army-has-lost-up-to-half-of-key-battle-tanks-analysts-estimate-ukraine

At the beginning of its full-scale invasion in Feb., Russia had around 3,330 operational tanks (2,840 with the ground forces, 330 with its naval infantry, and 160 with its airborne forces), according to the Military Balance 2021 database.
The database includes all tank types currently employed by Russia’s military, notably T-72s, T-80s, and T-90s, and their modifications.
According to Oryx, an online investigative project documenting equipment losses in Russia’s war, Russia has lost at least 994 tanks as of Sept. 1.

The estimated total Russian loss of 1,300 machines in Ukraine roughly corresponds to 14 full-fledged armored brigades or 42 battalion tactical groups (BTGs). This amounts to more tank fleets than the U.K., France, Germany, and Italy combined.

https://kyivindependent.com/how-many-tanks-does-russia-really-have/

Saying that Russia has used 15% of its potential is an understatement, unless you count all the scrap tanks from the 50s and 60s, like Russian propagandists do, but most of these tanks will never be restored. Russia is a strange country where on paper there's 10k tanks in reserves, but in reality half of these have been in storage for over 50 years. They don't run, cannot be restored, and even if they are somehow restored, are useless on the modern battlefield.

The reality is, Russia has used maybe 20% of its total tank reserves (on paper), but more than 50% of working, fairly modern tanks. I say fairly modern because t72 has been in use since the 70s and Russians just can't let it go. They're just adding more electronics and reactive armor and calling it a modern tank because it's cheaper than making a new one. So, it's possible a grandfather was using a T72 in the Soviet Union, and now his grandson is using it in Ukraine Cheesy

It's really easy to prove that they're running out of tanks, since they've started to deploy T-62s. These are tanks that were used by Russia in Afghanistan and were already outdated in the 80s.
https://mil.in.ua/en/news/ukrainian-military-captured-first-russian-t-62-tank/

These Russians have a sense of humor. Look at the name of the tank "fury" written on the barrel. Also the state of the tank, as it's a version with no reactive armor.
839  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling is a choice. on: May 19, 2023, 09:58:46 AM
Gambling is up to us whether we do it or not. As long as you enter this game, you should know that this is a game that will quickly lose the money you bet on it and you can also quickly increase your money here. It depends on whether you get lucky in your gambling.
Therefore, what you bet here is that you are ready to lose that you will not regret, as if the money you use here is not needed, this is the mindset you should have as a gambler entering a casino in the crypto gambling space.

OP's case is a bit different from normal gambling as it's obviously a scam. So, this is a comparison between choosing to gamble and choosing to get scammed.
When you go to a casino or an online gambling site, most of them are regulated and relatively fair, as long as you can accept that your odds are lower than they appear because of the house edge.
Street gambling is usually scam meant to steal your money and these people will lure you in promising free rolls and stuff and then they'll steal from you saying there was no free roll, you were supposed to play for money from the beginning.

Find a notable landmark (bell tower in the background with weather vein rather than a cross or steeple)
Search image of land mark or text of striking features (found the bell tower and pulled an address from the website the image came from)
Check the address of suspects in maps and go to street view, try to find the angle and distance (I found the angle and the cedar tree, but I couldn't find that distinctive mail box. That's why I guessed "somewhere near" Casa Bella.

Just a test of stalker skilz... and unfortunately I am apparently good at stalking. (damnit!)

There's definitely some luck involved too. Do you know how many church bell tower pictures are there?
I've just googled that and gave up after the first 100 pictures, none of which was that exact tower. Cheesy
