162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins' Value on: April 28, 2013, 05:53:17 PM
Why was there in the first place a limit and what are the guarantees the limit will never be changed?

1) The limit is in place to make coins valuable.
2) The mining reward decreases asymptotically to zero meaning less and less coins are added to the supply approaching the limit of 21 mil total.
163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do NOT declare that you have ever owned bitcoins on: April 28, 2013, 02:59:34 PM
Bitcoin anonymity is a myth. Take satoshi for example, the guy has millions but can't be spending to "save his life"...

Yes, they do.

rofl i know that companies like the monopolistic advantages that are granted to them by the state and im sure they all understand thatn y be funded through taxation but that isnt the point. I dont care what the companies thing. Im talking about how and why we can expect this policy to retard economic growth for the society as a whole.

Well, you should because in the end they are making the product for you. Does it retard the growth? I don't think so because taxes don't only protect corporations they also protect the consumer.

Ex. of the latter would be tax on tobacco and alcohol, people drink/smoke less when its more expensive. I think these two things do more retarding the economic growth than taxes.

168  Economy / Economics / Re: Does sales tax mitigate the benifical effects of the devision of labor? on: April 28, 2013, 12:41:20 PM
we are talking about macro scale here. Sure in any one individual exchange that may be the case but on net taxes like this will cause people to sometimes make decisions differently than they would have made them in the absence of said tax.

Sure... People will alter their decision making process to save money. However, the point of these taxes is to "protect" your business via the myriad agencies (ex. patent system). (Macro scale) I think successful businesses actually welcome taxation to some degree since it helps them maintain exclusivity or recover loses in case of natural disasters.

I do not really think that decision to outsource comes based on whether you are going to pay taxes or not. Sometimes you have to outsource to get things done regardless of the cost. I think the cost of the final product you are making will just absorb your expences or eventually you figure out how to do it on your own. Also there is no way you can do everything on your own...

The fact that it created value out of nothing and rallied up people globally.

Sup, folks!

Ken and I got several more thing accomplished. Posting here to keep you updated on what has been done.

1) We changed the way products are displayed the site. From now on, every store owner is given a slot on something what we call Coingig Showcase. We've decided to go away from our previous model of showing all listed products. With this we are going to address two things: steadily growing inventory and redundant looking entries. We plan to allow sellers to select the product they think fits best to be on the front page and promote it to the the Showcase. (Lookout to the changes in the add/edit product form, this is where the sellers will be able to toggle on this feature).

We guarantee equal maximum amount of views for all the sellers via the combination of this unique interface and our exposure algorithm.

2) We have added something, we call Top Store section on the left side of the main page. This is to display stores that score highest in our ranking system. Stores are selected via a formula that takes into consideration user feedback, store inventory and quality of presentation. Basically, the best stores undoubtedly make it and gain higher exposure!

3) We've made more database changes to speed up content delivery.

4) We've made improvements to Coingig statistics page.

Our next steps will be:

1) Multiple images + image preloading
2) Image aspect ration fix (for vertical images)
3) Ability to select a showcase product

Happy buying/selling!

Ok, I guess you meant company's link... Anyway, can we see your site?
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for Bitcoin Affiliate programs on: April 26, 2013, 08:07:32 PM
Since I know this market all I have to do is talk about the product or service and put my affiliate link up.

Sorry, it is not clear...

It seems like you want to put your link on someone's site and get paid for it.
177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for Bitcoin Affiliate programs on: April 26, 2013, 07:02:23 PM
What I meant to ask is where do you plan to put their links?
178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for Bitcoin Affiliate programs on: April 26, 2013, 06:44:57 PM
Sure... Where would they advertise?
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is promoting bitcoin for purchasing goods and services? on: April 26, 2013, 06:00:49 PM
1 coingig reviewed....any indication of volume in BTC per /month? I can see that it is relatively new..how long has the site been up and running?

You are right the site is new. I'll give you and others some numbers to bring things into perspective.

We launched on April 5, 2013. So far it has been 20 days and we have not invested anything into advertising.
As of current, we've had a little below 3000 unique visitors and over 30000 views.

We had 3 reddit posts regarding the site that caused significant upticks in traffic.
Currently we have 171 products. We also had a few orders, totaling slightly below 5BTC.

Amazon has about 2 billion products.
So we are aiming at 2bil to 171 as x to 1BTC, x = 11 mil BTC market. (Very very rough estimation)

We have a number of things lined up to up our exposure via free promotions to bring these numbers up.
After that we are going to invest serious into the marketing. Does that help?
