161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2018, 06:24:39 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we've held most of yesterday's gains... currently $16908USD/$20988CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Old coins are now worth $19951USD/$24766CAD (Coinmarketcap).

Do we see $20k before the end of the month?

It might be close call, some years there were pumps in late January or early February. My guess is just before, or just after the end of the month.
I need it to hit $24999 on the 10th jan

In that case it will probably drop to $14999 on the 10th jan. If you didn't need it, then it would probably pump.

They're delisting IFC in a few weeks. You can't trade it any more. (And from a post earlier this page, looks like you can't even withdraw it.)
wtfffff anyone know who was to fault about this? IFC devs or Cryptopia?

This is terrible Sad

Cryptopia claim a 51% attack, which is plausible considering that for a long time the network hash rate was virtually nil. It would have been very easy to double spend.

The coolcoin exchange doesn't have any plans to delist infinitecoin as far as I know. They are prepared to take the risk of double spends.

bc bitcoin mining reward half every 4 years, increasing in btc value will justify and provide incentive for miners continue mining btc, but by 2040 , last btc mined. No more btc reward, says transaction fees is low for mass adoption, how will btc network be maintained??? Anyone know?
I think you'll find its 2145 approx

Yes, he got it wrong. According to estimates on stackexchange it will be about 2140, not 2040.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/10486/when-will-the-last-bitcoin-be-mined

Quote
The estimate is 2140 based on the block reward halving frequency of four years. According to math and knowledge that there are 32 halving events, in 2136, the block reward will yield 0.00000168 BTC per day, which is 0.00000042 BTC per block. That's 42 satoshis.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: January 06, 2018, 07:09:09 AM
>Poloniex message:

CLAM is currently under maintenance or experiencing wallet/network issues. Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled until a solution is found, which may require an update from the CLAM team. Any updates must be tested and audited before enabling.

It seems to be a standard text message that they put up for any coin they're having trouble with.

They don't reply to developer attempts to help them so I don't know what's wrong.

Getting a reply from poloniex support can take months. There's probably something simple wrong with their wallet, but they are so overloaded that making a simple fix will take ages. The whole exchange is struggling to cope with the huge volume of transactions from new customers..
168  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Taking money out of Bittrex on: January 06, 2018, 06:50:56 AM
Is your bittrex account verified? You can't withdraw anything from an unverified account any more. They recently changed the rules. The only way you can make withdrawals is to verify by submitting scans of a passport or drivers license. There's supposed to be a basic verification that doesn't require scans, but it never seems to work for anyone.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MOON] Mooncoin 🌙 40594 funded addresses. 2,013,649 txs. 5 block explorers on: January 06, 2018, 06:35:14 AM
Here is a dumb question, I mined 50,000 moon, directly to an exchange address.  They appear on block chain explore but not at the exchange, it looks liek the fee was low, can this take a long time?

Never, ever, ever mine to exchange address. Only mine to address you have privkey for. Send from there to exchange when you want to trade it.

Exchanges sometimes warn customers not to mine to their addresses. Often they don't want loads of transactions getting sent to a particular address. It's difficult for their systems to cope with.

Both firewalls and antivirus software employ Intrusion Systems, and two running together often interfere with each others operations. Basically they both see each other as malicious. It's often a PITA configuring two different systems to work together. What if CybCSec's Open Intrusion Systems conflicy with others employed by firewalls and antivirus software?

Since Satoshi is still presumably alive, I wonder why he doesn't swing by every now and then to update us on what his vision is himself.
Maybe he has...

Maybe he already did it anonymously through a new account, and nobody took any notice because it was just a bog standard new account writing about his vision.

Please post an announcement thread link for Bitcoin ECO (BEC). The ticker BEC has already been used by two coins, and another one using the same ticker makes finding its announcement thread difficult.

Here's the announcement threads for the first two coins to take BEC.

This piece of news hasn't been discussed much here yet, so what do you think of the Wavecrest debit card shutdown? The official word from VISA is that Wavecrest didn't comply with VISA regulations - but there's no hint at which specific regulations were disattended.

To me, it smells like a few governments put some pressure on VISA to end that service. VISA have been swift to oblige, as they always are as soon as a big actor uses power voice mode. But I might just be a rookie conspiracy theorist...

There are loads of other crypto/fiat debit cards that visa is still supporting. It's Wavecrest that visa is cracking down on, not crypto/fiat debit cards in general. It probably won't affect bitcoin's price anyway because most of the new buyers in the crypto ecosystem won't even know what a crypto/fiat debit card is yet.

Hows your BCH doing?

Pretty good actually. Moving a big chunk from Bitcoin Segwit to Bitcoin Cash has worked out splendidly.

Thanks for asking.

Serious question - do you think Dr Craig S Wright is Satoshi?

Peter - if you are reading this I'm also interested in your view as well.

I'm probably not the right "Peter," but I give Dr Wright the benefit of a doubt. A shadow of a doubt, mind you, but it's possible. Similar to the possibility that I will win either the Megamillions or Powerball jackpot this weekend. (I bought 1 ticket for each.)

I wouldn't give such generous odds, I would give the same odds as winning both the Megamillions and Powerball jackpot this weekend.

The road map dates are all given in the announcement thread. These are the dates.

Why is it you dont have a twitter community ? How can i help you to promote this project

There's a link to the twitter community in the OP. It's already got 386 followers and has made 49 tweets. You can promote the project by following that.

Just claimed my BTG, what you guys sayin: dump it now or wait ? Only thing I know about it is that it is auf GPU minable Fork.  Grin. Too many shitcoins out there to study all.

I have the same dilemma, and I can't make up my mind. Should I dump that shit or hodl? Bitcoins pumping, the alts are crashing, and you know where you are with bitcoin. Hodling alts is risky, like buying bitcoins on leverage.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDOP]🔥🔥🔥TEMCoin Project🥇Get Free Temcoins 🚀 🚀 🚀 on: January 05, 2018, 07:11:09 PM
If this is an airdrop WTH is a bounty?

How the hell can we believe in your project when you don't even know the basics.

Airdrop sounds more like a bounty program instead of airdrop though

not an airdrop !!!

Please note that some coins are freely distributed even if the users don't post. Please see the details on the website!

But if users still have to wear the signature they are providing advertising for your coin even without posting. People will still see their signatures when they read through old posts in threads they are catching up on.

An airdrop doesn't ask for anything in return, a bounty asks for something (like coin advertising) in return for coins.

A lot of Bitcoin Debit Cards have just been cancelled due to WaveCrest Gibraltar being terminated by VISA.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2018/01/05/visa-locks-bitcoin-payment-cards-crackdown-card-issuer/

Yep. Got an e-mail from Bitpay today to say that Wavecrest are not supporting it anymore.
Was told in the email that the funds will be returned to my Bitpay account.
Not sure if there is another card issuer out there for us Europeans.
I have a virtual Wirex card but I don't like their monthly fees.

That story says there are plenty of other card issuers visa is prepared to work with. It stopped doing business with WaveCrest because of non-compliance with its rules, but it's happy to work with other crypto/fiat card issuers.

Quote
Bitcoin card provider BitPay was also affected, telling customers in an email: "We are already in discussions with potential alternative issuers for the BitPay Card which will allow us to serve customers in Europe and beyond."

Visa said the cards had been suspended after Visa terminated WaveCrest's membership due to "continued non-compliance with our operating rules", although it said other Visa cards that convert Bitcoin into normal currency would not be affected.

"Visa has other approved card programmes that use fiat funds converted from cryptocurrency in a number of jurisdictions. The termination of WaveCrest’s Visa membership does not affect these other products."
