1601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 02, 2014, 12:33:09 PM
Yesterday I made the suggestion that the "Buy BlackCoin" section on BlackCoin.co should be moved above the fold. In less than 24 hours it was done!!! The dev and this community is one of the best if not the best.

If you are waiting to buy BlackCoin you better get it now while it is still cheap. Because this dev and community are the real deal and this coin is only going to increase in value.

Bravo to Rat4 and the BlackCoin community!!!

Virwox will work to get from dollars into cryptos, using paypal or credit card, but you will pay a high price in fees and have to deal with multiple exchanges to get BC.

coinbase and localbitcoins are great services to get your dollars into bitcoins and usually can get you bitcoins the same day, but then you will need to move them to an exchange to get BC...

Prelude.Io will allow you to buy directly with dollars, but you have to be verified and you need to make a bank wire transfer or go to a wells fargo bank and deposit to their account.  also you will find not a lot of volume there so you will probably pay a high price if you can even buy the amount you are looking for. (Please people consider buying and selling even small amounts of BC on prelude.io to help with this! More volume trading there will also encourage them to add BC to their other services including payment services and coming soon ATMs)

all of these options make BC adoption a bit difficult for the average person who is not already versed in cryptos.

This is what we as a community need to work on, and it is not an easy problem because of financial regulations, but one we will have to face at some point if we want BC to continue to grow and someday rival BTC.

+1

I was just checking their site out, this is exactly what BC needs. Prelude.io makes it very simple to buy BC. However, you are correct the volume is way too low Sad.

We need a service like CoinBase that will make it easy for the "grandma" investor to be able to buy BlackCoins without the extra steps. We as a community need to come up with a solution for that in the near future.

Why would "Grandma" want to exchange fiat for blackcoin to buy things she could buy with fiat in the first place ?

Let's not kid ourselves here, if you're trying to target Grandma or even average Joe then you're targeting the wrong demographic because using anything but fiat would be an inconvenience to them and they will not appreciate the value of crypto currency over the current shackles of fiat.

To make crypto's successful we need to bring in more people from the tech world first to pioneer these currencies before we get the general populace on board, if we had it so kids badgering their parents couldn't buy the latest games or technology without having crypto's to buy them with then it would essentially go a hell of a long way to breaking free from fiat which is the core ethos of crypto's.

Target indie developers, bring those people on board because they are the future for the ever expanding tech world and technology is the future

Did you read what I wrote? There are two uses for crypto-currencies.

1.) People use them to invest.
2.) People use them to buy things.

I am an investor but I also happen to be a techie. I have many Wall Street friends who would be thrilled with a 1000%+ ROI in less than seven weeks. However, trying to explain how to buy BlackCoin is a task. Yes it would be great to be able to buy real things with BlackCoin, but we cannot forget that what also keeps any currency relevant are the investors. That is also true for Fiat currencies (Forex)

So essentially you're doing all this so you can get people to pump the price then dump for 1000% ROI

What keeps any currency relevant is daily trading at a stable level, it's why fiat is so successful and so hard to break away from because I know that I can buy a Mars bar for 40p and will likely be able to buy another in 6 months time for 40p. The same cannot be said for crypto's just in a month BC has gone from 2k to 500 to 4k to 8k to 4k to 5k to 6k. For any of these coins to be taken seriously we need long term stability and people coming in for 1000% ROI are not the people we want to make these coins successful because they're just going to create even greater instability with their initial pump and eventual dump.

When we can back our crypto's against real world items be it niche gadgets or indie games or something completely out of the box in order to have stability then we can start attracting the general populace because as long as our crypto's are backed against fiat they're never going to stable or taken seriously

Please do not assume what my intentions are. Just because someone invest in a currency or stock and reach a 1000% ROI doesn't mean they will automatically dump. Also, you are naive if you think BlackCoin wouldn't be where it is without investors pumping and unfortunately dumping. The value of any crypto-currency would not increase if people are not actively buying, selling, and occasionally dumping. Who do you think is spending 30+ BTC at a time buying coins? I assure you it is not some 16 year old in his mother's basement. So if you do not like pumps and dumps I suggest you find another hobby. Because once hedge fund managers shift their focus to crypto-currencies, you will wish you could go back to these days.

BTW: Yes I am trying to pump the value of BlackCoin, but it is NOT to dump the coin. Most people here are trying to pump the value of the BlackCoin. What do you think the purpose of the multipool is for?

The problem with the crypto-currency community is the majority of the community thinks we should focus on the tech world first. That is just a very small % of the population. For any crypto-currency to succeed it will have to be Grandma proof.  As big as Bitcoin is, if you still ask the average individual about Bitcoin they would not have a clue what you were talking about. And when you introduce someone new to Bitcoin the learning curve is too much for most people. That needs to change....
1605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 01, 2014, 11:08:09 PM
Can we do this?

While we wait for the press release, there is one thing that needs to be fixed to maximize our ROI.

When visiting BlackCoin.co I immediately notice that the "Buy BlackCoin" section is way below the fold. The Buy BlackCoin section should be above the fold and should be one of the first elements the visitor sees when visiting the homepage. When people read our press release they are going to visit BlackCoin.co, and they might want to buy a few BlackCoins. We have to make it easy as possible for them to get their hands on BlackCoin.

Unfortunately for the average person not familiar with crypto-currencies, using an exchange to buy coins is a daunting task. First you have to convert Fiat to BTC or some other crypto-currency, and then send that currency to an exchange, and then trade that currency for BlackCoin. The average person will never be able to do that. We need a service like CoinBase that will make it easy for the "grandma" investor to be able to buy BlackCoins without the extra steps. We as a community need to come up with a solution for that in the near future.

Whilst it would be amazing I think realistically a Coinbase type service coming on board this early is unlikely. Remember the big problem with running a fiat exchange is regulation (compliance on a day to day basis and then the cost of having the relevant licenses). So I can't see someone here setting up a service like this for Blackcoin from scratch either.

Instead I think we should focus on the simple easy things, such as making blackcoin.co as user friendly as possible and also as you say prominently directing visitors towards an exchange.

The best route into Blackcoin is probably still by buying Bitcoins. Perhaps we could even have on blackcoin.co the steps eg buy 1 bitcoin at coinbase at this link, then sign up for free at mintpal and place a buy order for 1btc worth of blackcoins.

I agree 100%. However, services like Coinbase are not going to be able to last long if they do not branch out to other coins. In regards to BlackCoin, it is hard to tell an "old school" investor he/she should buy BlackCoins and try to walk them through the current process. For us it easy, for the non techie it is nearly impossible.

Making our contribution goal was the first step. On 4/9/2014 when our press release goes live we as a community must post links to our release everywhere we can. Next Weds @ 9AM EST I will post the links to every site that is covering our release. At that time we must go on a "media blitz"! Send emails to family, friends, co-workers. We must contact merchants that accept other crypto-currencies and let them know that BlackCoin is the new preferred coin. On the 9th we as a community will introduce BlackCoin to the masses! Everyone who is selling their coins cheap this week will regret it next week.

Blackcoin Community Press Release Project

Hi everyone! The past few days there have been some concerns with BC price dipping a bit, and other concerns that the Volume has decreased by more than half. I would like to point out that BlackCoin is just over a month old and it has gained a lot of value in a very short span of time.

That being said I do believe more can be done on the PR side of things to start generating some positive buzz around BlackCoin. We need to be different than the other cryptocurrency communities and approach mass adoption differently. Most investors that might be interested in investing in BlackCoin do not go to these forums, nor do they read websites related to cryptocurrencies. So we have to bring the BlackCoin news to them.

I have a writer I have used for over 7 years and he write all my press releases. I am writing down BlackCoin's key benefits and he will then write the release. I use a PR service that will submit our release to all the top business and financial sites. This should be the first step at introducing BlackCoin to the masses.

Everyone here already knows the benefits of BlackCoin so I wont list them all. However, in the press release I want to point out BlackCoin is not an ordinary cryptocurrency. It is more like a t-bill/bond/savings account for cryptocurrency. Whereas Bitcoin and other cyrptocurrency prices fluctuate wildly based on postive/negative news, BlackCoin prices are less volatile and a better overall investment.

I am going to schedule the release for the week of April 8th to coincide with the Cryptocurrency Convention in NYC . Once the press release is live the community can start posting links to the release everywhere we can.

I am going to use my own money to pay the writer and the press release distribution service. The writer charges approximately $80 depending on how many words,  and the press release service charges $499+ to distribute to financial websites including Yahoo! Finance, Bloomberg, and the Wall Street Journal to name a few.

If you guys want to contribute and help with the cost you can send contributions here: BQQsUdYaqCGUDhdXPADto1gKwvEA2a92TP

I want to thank everyone who contributed to this project and I am looking forward to BlackCoin making some news next week!!!
1609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 01, 2014, 02:14:35 AM
Coin bottomed around ~500. So 1000% not 4900%. Still a good gain though.  Tongue

I based my math on 100 not 500, but yea 1000% is still excellent!

Can you imagine if BC value increased 1000% every month?
1610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 01, 2014, 02:00:42 AM

Let's all be honest here the multipool doesn't really have any effect on price. It's just good old fashioned price manipulation

Its math,  X hashrate on the pool translate into X btc into X BC purchased at market price.  The pool absolutely affects the price.  What the pool can't affect is people panic dumping, and people not recognizing that BC is immune to most methods of debasement.

Everyone treats BC like it has the same weakness as any other coin,  The best I can assume is that  they 'just don't get it yet'.   I hope that they do 'get it' before its too late for them.

Off topic...how much would you say BlackCoin has increased in value (percentage) since launching?

coin was about 100 sat when it was first released..now its hovering round 5000...thats from march 13 to march 31

https://cryptrader.com/charts/mintpal/bc/btc

Thank you. So that is a 4900% gain in just over one month.
1611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 01, 2014, 01:46:49 AM
You guys should not focus on price, but in generating an economy.

If not BC will be just an expensive token, real value comes from use of the coin.

The rest are just hopes.

That is a myth. The are many coins currently accepted by merchants and payment services, and those coins aren't doing well. What makes a coin successful is the community getting the word out, and media attention. Yes a coin also needs people using it for commerce, but that is just one factor.

If people wanted to become rich, all they have to do is HOLD, and this analysis would be conservative.   Its based on a 50% dump rate, what if it was only a 20% dump rate?!   The is buying coins everyday even in BETA form.   The only coin in crypto going UP in value all the time.   The only thing that causes this coin to go down in value is selling at any price, for any volume.  If someone wants my BC, they will have to pay a LOT more for it than any of these prices.

If anyone has 10,000 or more coins, and you just hold until next year, you will very happy you listened to us. Do not get caught up in the daily price fluctuations, or the BlackCoin vs Mint debates. There are a lot of people who bought MintCoin above 50+ sat and they are mad the prices have dropped and haven't recovered, so they are taking their anger out on the BlackCoin community. If they spent more time adding value to Mint, and less time coming here copying ideas and posting ridiculousness, maybe MintCoin would be up to 60 sat by now.

How would you suggest I trade my BTC for BC?

I know my risks when I put my money on an exchange. I do everything I can to minimize my risk. I would say sending $800 to an anonymous poster without any proof is a little more naive than sending  my money to a 2FA-enabled service that's been running without fail ( so far ) from a VM used ONLY for my funds, removing my funds as soon as I can, and then backing the funds up on redundant mediums of storage (paper, flash card, sd card, external hard drive, encrypted on an offsite private server only I can access with a username and password generated by keepass on an offline machine.)

So, tell me again how I'm naive. Tell me how I should trust a random stranger asking for cash with nothing to keep them honest.

Did you read my post or did you purposely choose to ignore what I wrote? It doesn't matter how many safeguards are in place, or how many precautions you take, you are trusting someone you do not know when you trade on 99% of the exchanges. They are not legitimate companies and you are trusting they will not take your money. Do you know the physical address of Mintpal's headquarters? Do you truly know what city they operate from? Do you know the names of the operators of the website? Do you know if Mintpal is insured or not? It is safe to assume the answer is no to all. Did you ever hear of MTGox and CryptoRush?

Thank you for your comments and concerns. If you do not have anything new to add please move on.

I wouldn't send my coins to CryptoRush or store them longer than needed on any exchange, why should I trust you? People who are sending you coins are naive at best. Even if you are legitimate, which I don't really know, this is really poor form and I encourage everybody to think twice about donating before any proof.

You are entitled to your comments and your concerns. However, with all do respect I think you are the naive one here. Whether you store you coins on an exchange for 5 seconds or 5 minutes, it doesn't matter. The exchanges you send your coins to are not real companies, the people who operate exchanges are often anonymous, they are not backed by any insurance company, and most are open to theft from people operating the exchange. If Mintpal closed down right now you would have no recourse of getting your coins back.

So thank you for voicing your concerns and you have the right not to trust me or anyone else for that matter.

I've helped with many victims of online scams (and run a website dealing with it specifically) and my cardinal rule is "Never send money to anyone who provides nothing but promises." If you want to be anonymous that's fine. I know people who are like that and respect their privacy, but their usernames are backed up by at least 10 positive feedback. Like here? or Ebay? Let me know and I'll verify it for users here.

I agree with you to a certain extent. Each situation should be evaluated on a case by case basis. When someone asked the name of the writer I am using, I didn't hesitate to post the writer's info. Now if you do not want to contribute now and wait on the fence that is fine, you have that right. When the Press Release is live you could always contribute the 1000 BC.

Hi IconicExpert,

Before I send my contribution, I'd like to see some verified credentials.

Please.

Bump. I have 1000BC waiting and ready.
How about you just send him the BC and trust him?

Because this is exactly the reason why there are so many scams around on the Internet. You guys just sent $400 to someone with just a username and know nothing else about him. Or was it posted somewhere?

I am not posting my "credentials" on a forum that is notorious for hackers, and just to make you feel comfortable. If you are not comfortable contributing to the project that is fine. This weekend the contributors will get an advance copy of the release, and next week the press release will be live for all to read. That will be all the credentials you need. And when BlackCoin gets a bit of press you can say thank you to everyone who pitched in.

I find it interesting that some people have "concerns" about contributing to something that benefits everyone here, but have little to no concerns sending tens of thousands of coins to exchanges run by anonymous people in foreign countries. Did anyone get their BC back from CryptoRush yet?

Sometimes you have to have faith in individual people and not assume everyone's intentions are nefarious.

Mr_Random I will have the writer incorporate your suggestions in the press release. The BTC address is: 1PePCJCQ8C7UEcSV3ssxmvm1pbRSqQm3B6

Once you send the BTC I will convert immediately to BC and then add you to the list. I want everyone to be able to publicly track what we raised.

Hi mate, I have sent 0.22 BTC to 1PePCJCQ8C7UEcSV3ssxmvm1pbRSqQm3B6.

Since I presume you are going to convert eveything into dollars I wouldn't bother converting them to Blackcoins.  FYI it's about 3900 blackcoins at this seconds exchange range.

Thank you for the contribution. I went ahead and converted to BC because I want everyone to be able to view the contributions, and I wanted to give a bit of BC buy support.

If you have contributed to the project and you do not see your name listed, please PM me so I can list your name publicly.

PS: To everyone who donated, you will receive an advanced copy on the press release this weekend.
