1601  Economy / Lending / Re: BTC Loan 1000 BTC on: June 24, 2012, 05:03:19 PM
I am interested in possibly acquiring a bitcoin loan of about 1000 BTC. I would pay back monthly with bitcoins. I am a trusted member of the community, and am active on the forums and IRC. Would anyone offer me the loan, at how much interest and with what conditions attached?

I can vouch for mystery2048. I loan him 5000 BTC in May and he paid back the next week with 15% interest. Honest A++ trader!! Would not hesitate to loan him again.
1 post!  well in THAT case why don't you loan him 5000 BTC again since you have established business between each other?  problem solved!

1603  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Selling Bitcoins on eBay analysis on: June 23, 2012, 03:48:55 AM

*snip*

Physical delivery of anything isn't safe either since there's almost no way to show the actual contents delivered are the correct contents.
But you can give Paypal a tracking number if there is a dispute and you can prove the item was shipped, it doesn't really matter the condition of the contents as long as they are clearly stated in the description.
1604  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did bitcoin jump up in price so suddenly in the past 2 weeks? on: June 23, 2012, 03:40:17 AM
Could it be Bitcoin Magazine?
I guess that 20% Magazin,30% News media internet,50% Bitcoinica
What about the China market growth, new Columbia exchange, and BitInstant's "700,000 locations" availability, all in a short time, probably had something to do with it in addition to the three you mention.
1605  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is CryptoXChange so slow? Or is it just me? on: June 22, 2012, 09:43:06 PM
Site is awkwardly slow but I like doing trades there, I wish there was a non-flashy basic version though.

+1.  Hell I would take a ssh login and command line. Smiley
yup that would be slick.
1606  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Block# 187000] Bitcoin Crazy Wallet Auction (Wallet Minimum Payout= 10 BTC) on: June 22, 2012, 09:08:03 PM
interesting.. watching this one!

Thanks!

I have been thinking about changing Block # 187000 to Block# 190000, to allow some time for the wallet to build up some funds but I still like the idea of paying out once per week or so. What do you guys think?

Try it out, see how it goes.  Do you know the estimated time of arrival for those two blocks?

and what happens in this scenario, someone sends a new-winning bid but posts it during block #190001, technically after the deadline, what do you do?

1607  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wow, dispute open against a MoneyPak I reloaded! (rothglobal = possible scammer) on: June 22, 2012, 08:38:46 PM
Man, there was someone who signed up to my forum who was begging me for weeks to accept a moneypak for BTC..  I couldn't figure out a reason why not to do it, but after hearing that it is reversible I'm so glad I didn't!

[anything besides bitcoin] sucks!

1609  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Selling Bitcoins on eBay analysis on: June 22, 2012, 08:20:50 PM
I made a ton selling coins on eBay, and got the money for them as well.

What I did was say "NO REFUNDS WHATSOEVER" in the description and in the Paypal info, and said the user needed to put their wallet address in the paypal comments.  I also stated that there would be no refunds in any case, and there will be video proof of the transaction taking place, to prove the coins were sent to the address in the paypal checkout.  I sold like thousands of dollars worth of coins, listed at $20-25+ each (back in july 2011) and scammers would buy them up like $500 at a time.

The scammers would do a reversal on the transaction in a systematic fashion, and since I used Freez Screen Video Capture to make videos of myself transferring the coins to the person's wallet that they entered in the paypal reciept (which was open and evident in the video), it served as solid proof.  Paypal returned 100% of the money to me, with the exception of one small transaction where the person did a reversal on their credit card.. Paypal couldn't help that.

When you do a transaction dispute, and they look at the video, there is no denying it.

I paid for ALL my mining equipment with the coins that I sold to would-be scammers on eBay last summer! Smiley

eBay has since changed its policies quite a bit, I don't think it's safe to sell coins there anymore unless they were casascius, a "bitcoin cheque", or a private key on a piece of paper that you can physically mail to them and get a tracking number, since that is allowed.

Super, payment sent.
Payment received!
1613  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: June 22, 2012, 04:32:58 PM
I don't think there should be a referral program...  I encourage most sites to have one, but I don't think GLBSE is one of them...
1614  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: June 22, 2012, 01:39:37 AM
I havent checked BAMT for a while,... sorry if this is already covered.

Has anyone successfully run 7970s with BAMT?

Even with latest cgminer? I guess you also need to update to the latest SDK? (is it possible to update SDK in Bamt?)

I think there was a bounty, don't know where it's at though. (% Funded)
I have two 7970s running in BAMT 0.5c but I can't seem to get the BAMT scripts to start the mining, I have to do it manually but it still reports the speeds to mgpumon... however the 7970 integration mining fund has been completed and lodcrappo will have the updated version soon.
1615  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs ASIC Gear Potential on: June 22, 2012, 01:36:11 AM
hmm if BFL have this tech, why are they selling to the public when greater profits could be made by mining themselves?
at least first then sell later..?

Because mining is volatile and unsure.

Some ASIC developers, like Vlad, ARE going that route though.
Oh maybe it's a good thing we will get tools to compete with him!

Makes me want to buy one of these in the meantime while I wait for these beasts.  I wonder if I buy ten of those can I trade it in for a Jalapeno for the upgrade plan they are offering?  Hmm.. maybe I need to get these instead since they are technically "coffee warmers" like the Jalapeno.

Is people are willing to spend their bitcoin against goods? I saw that a lot of people trying to get in business stop their bitcoin activity…
My grammar sense is tingling!

I can only talk for myself, but my little store at bitlasers.com isn't doing too well. I've only made two sales since startup a few months ago. But I haven't exactly done much advertising, and it's a niche market, so your mileage will probably vary.

Hey!  It's a tough world with an e-store in the bitcoin world WTCR.ca has the right product for the right price and an invaluable service but it's like pulling teeth trying to get people to buy---and we are advertising...

1620  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Roadmap to 1.0? on: June 21, 2012, 03:44:51 PM
I'll buy my grandma a terabyte drive for Christmas.
Hopefully the blockchain won't eat up that terabyte!  Wink  jk

I can't immediately think of anything that should be included in the 1.0 release, but I have a comment..  In the "about" page on the satoshi client, it says "This is expiremental software."  Is that going to stay there forever or will it be removed one day?
