"We are the lunatic fringe adopters. Early adopters come later."
-Andreas Antonopolous.
1622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the next adopters? on: December 02, 2014, 03:18:45 PM
Russians and Argentinians.
1623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin good enough; there aren't critically important improvements needed? on: December 02, 2014, 03:15:51 PM
Is Bitcoin good enough?

It doesn't matter, the game is already over. Bitcoin won, every other crypto lost.

Why? Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect

Needless to say, this argument can be easily made against bitcoin in favour of existing fiat money institutions. And yet we still believe that a superior technology can rise and overcome, no?
No, that argument cannot be made against bitcoin in favour of existing money institutions because central banking is tremendously inefficient when compared to cryptocurrency.

Efficiency trumps all, even network effect. Altcoins will never be meaningfully more efficient than Bitcoin, because they are built on the same technological foundation.
1624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin FATALLY FLAWED? on: December 02, 2014, 03:14:09 PM
I have come to the conclusion that bitcoin is fatally flawed and that is why the value of bitcoin has falled this year so much.
I have come to the conclusion that you are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. And since I AM the sharpest knife in the drawer, I'm probably right.

1627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you buy on Bitcoin Black Friday? on: December 01, 2014, 07:12:48 PM
$2000 gaming PC from newegg, saved hundreds and that's NOT accounting for the fact that my btc cost average was less than half of what btc is worth today.
1628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Forbid In All Country In The World on: December 01, 2014, 07:10:07 PM
You know, copyright infringement is forbidden in just about every country in the world, and yet there stands the Pirate Bay, proud and thriving.

1629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia wants to ban Bitcoin because it is a safe haven from..... on: December 01, 2014, 07:07:56 PM
This will be the year Russian elites learn that some laws cannot be so easily enforced...

Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet.
Can we suck our own dicks though?
1631  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What if a large number of miners were suddenly forced to shut down? on: November 30, 2014, 10:14:29 PM
95% of miners are suddenly offline.
Be it a new law or an EMP strike. What would happen to bitcoin?  Huh
It would suddenly (and briefly) become extremely profitable to mine and every person with any mining ability (from videocard to asic) would mine.

The system would adapt and within days if not hours it would be back to previous hashrate.

1633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Free Speech on: November 27, 2014, 03:42:50 PM
Bitcoin is money an information. The free flow of information is and must always be protected as speech. Let me repeat that, money is now information, and it absolutely is "free speech".

Any laws which attempt to impinge upon that speech must be fiercely resisted and disobeyed by all free people
1634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are still the very, very early adopters on: November 26, 2014, 04:01:53 PM
Someday one cryptocurrency or another is going to be pretty much the standard for interplanetary trade.
I am far more optimistic about the success of bitcoin than I am about the success of the human species long term.
1635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: whats up guys, can someone elaborate more on what open source means. on: November 26, 2014, 03:58:12 PM

1637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CATO Evaluation of Bitcoin Eventual Collapse of protocol on: November 26, 2014, 03:55:21 PM
Here's a rationale provided by Kevin Dowd, University of Durham

Similar concerns have been expressed by our BTC community in recent times. What I'm looking for is logical input from you guys, whether he is right or wrong?

I will approach Kevin with arguments/rebuttals and post his response here, thanks.

Collapse of value of US dollar would do it.

1639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi ..Private key lost? on: November 24, 2014, 05:37:47 PM
What is the probability that the reason for the non movement of Satoshi coins is that the private key has been lost?
Extremely slim would be my guess. Satoshi isn't moving coins because he doesn't need to. He's leading by example.
