1641  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-06-19] Australian Tells Story of Throwing Away Hard Drive With 1400 Bitc. on: June 20, 2017, 03:25:00 AM
Lol... forget about 2010. Even in 2013, when I first started collecting bitcoins, I never thought that the prices will go up like crazy. Back then, I purchased them just because I was interested in the concept of crypto-currency. I never expected it to give me profits.
1642  Economy / Economics / Re: New rich people thanks to BTC on: June 19, 2017, 04:28:07 PM
One of my friends asked me to purchase Bitcoins in 2011. At that time, the exchange rate was around $4 per coin. At that point of time, I chose to ignore his advice. I even mocked at him for putting his trust behind a ponzi scheme. But I purchased the same coins in 2014, at around $700 per coin. Had I followed the advice of my friend in 2011, then I'd have been a millionaire now.
1643  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: June 19, 2017, 04:24:54 PM
Which is the most used? Any ideas? Desktop and Mobile.
mobile bitcoin wallet because mobile wallet is u can withdraw any where when you dont have money and shopping if you like desktop is stable for home so when you are in the park you can get a money in your bitcoin wallet not like mobile.

There is nothing wrong in using the mobile Bitcoin wallets for small trade and purchases. But I wouldn't recommend storing significant amounts of coins in such wallets for long duration (especially if the mobile operating system is Android). As per my understanding, mobile wallets are some of the least secure storage for Bitcoin out there.
1644  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: June 19, 2017, 04:20:48 PM
Yes everyone need btc and we have less in market .So demand make it more expensive . Also most of the market is investing more and more on Btc . That may be reason for price hike !

I am not seeing any spike in the demand for the past 6-7 days. The supply-demand equilibrium have been largely stable, despite the huge trade volumes. We need a major trigger to boost the Bitcoin to 3,000+ levels. This trigger can be anything - 95% consensus for SegWit, approval of the Bitcoin ETF by the SEC.etc.
1645  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: June 19, 2017, 04:17:17 PM
Increasing tensions in the Middle East between Saudi Arabia and Qatar don't seem to have affected oil prices. Usually when tension increases in the Middle East, so does the oil price. Right now, the oil price seems to be pretty flat.

The Qatar scandal may affect the natural gas prices, but it will have zero impact on the crude prices. Qatar is a major exporter of LNG, and the spot LNG prices rose after the Saudis threatened to block the Qatari gas tankers. But Qatar does not export any crude oil, unlike the other GCC nations such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
1646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Centralized is Ethereum? Should we be Worried? on: June 19, 2017, 03:38:51 PM
Nothing to worry about the unlimited Etherium. 85% of current ETH are in the hands of some whacky Russian dude.

That guy looks creepy. Looks like he has HIV. I have a lot of respect for Vitalik Buterin. But he comes no way near Satoshi Nakamoto (I wish I could rather use his real name). Satoshi was not interested in profiting out of the crypto-currency and he chose to never use the coins in his wallet. While Vitalik sold a lot of his coins when the prices went up.
1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switching from btc to alts? Can altcoins sustain upward trend? on: June 19, 2017, 03:35:02 PM
Anyone who ignores alts as inferior is very shortsighted, and has missed a ton of profits. Likewise it would be silly to ignore bitcoin, though the faster they make changes to decrease fees and make it more scalable the better. None of these are good as currencies, except tether, because they are too volatile. I see them more as small cap stocks or commodities.. fixed supply with varying demand.
exactly, i'd like to swtich to ltc and eth for a while and when a fork occurs and the market decides a winner, i'll switch back to btc.

By then it will be too late to purchase BTC. If anyone of the chains emerge as the clear winner, then the prices will rapidly rise upwards. Remember what happened to ETH, after it won the battle against Ethereum Classic. But if both the chains remain alive without a clear winner, then the alts will gain. There is a strong chance that the market cap of ETH will overtake the combined market cap of BTC and BTC Classic.
1648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: June 19, 2017, 03:32:52 PM
Ethereum is a hyper-inflated bubble, which can burst at any time. Despite its huge market cap, the number of users is still quite low. And most of the demand comes from China and Russia. In the Western nations, ETH is much behind BTC in trade volumes.
1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MaidSafe COIN ? on: June 19, 2017, 03:30:55 PM
It is definitely worth taking a look at. The market cap of Maidsafecoin had recently crossed the $200 million mark, which means that there is a lot of interest in it. The prices have remained stable for the past one month, but with the increase in the number of users (evident from the trade volumes), we can expect it to rise again.
1650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Name of some small coins with a stable price and a growing community on: June 19, 2017, 03:27:25 PM
I would recommend Anoncoin. It is a bit old, being launched in 2013. But after years of dormancy, the community is growing now and more and more exchanges are adding it as one of their currencies. There is even a dedicated Wiki about Anoncoin.
1651  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-06-17]Bitcoin prices likely to continue wild ride on: June 18, 2017, 06:36:52 PM
Bitcoin is no longer for micro payments because of the current status of high transaction fees. That's why now it has become a store of value.
It's not that it is something that has happened very recently. For people that have been here long enough, this is something that was looming from the very beginning. It's actually very simple; as the usage increases, and that was definitely the case (still is), the free space left in blocks only decreases. It wouldn't take long before the blocks were all filled, and it indeed did happen. Result is that people have to outbid each other with higher fees in order to grant themselves a front row seat, and that's what has been leading to where the fees stand right now. For many it might be something that came as a surprise, but people that have been here long enough know better. I am obviously ignoring the spam transactions as I only focus on legit usage.

But for some "newbies" like me, I find it frustrating as time having to used bitcoin and then wait for long confirmation. I don't know if Satoshi has initially design his bitcoin to be used for such small payments, but if he did they the purpose was already defeated because of this high tx fees that we have experiencing now.

It was a major failure from the part of Satoshi that he limited the block size to just 1 MB. Just around 1,000 transactions can be included in 1MB, and therefore I must say that he was extremely short-sighted about the potential increase in the user-base. If a particular currency is being used by 10 million people, you should expect much more than 1,000 transactions in a period of ~10 minutes.
1652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN DEMAND EXPLODE IN INDIA on: June 18, 2017, 06:33:17 PM
I think the demand for bitcoin in india is very much ... but maybe in karnakan the unstable economy in India is a crisis ... India is more investing in forex because forex more quickly enter in india than bitcoin ... but surely very much Bitcoin enthusiasts in india after the crisis in india ended ... Thanks

I have heard that Forex trading is very popular in India, despite its risks. Perhaps Bitcoin can also attract a nice user-base, since crypto-coin trading is also similar to Forex trading. It can also bring huge amounts of profits in relatively short time period. But the legal status of Bitcoin in India is still unclear, along with its tax implications.
1653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees over 30%? on: June 18, 2017, 06:30:33 PM
This issue is not just limited to Coinbase or Exodus. Recently a large number of the wallets and exchanges have decided to increase the withdrawal/transaction fee by as much as 1,000%. This is despite the exchange rate of Bitcoin increasing from $200 per coin to almost $3,000 per coin in a time period of just 18 months.
1654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Classic on: June 18, 2017, 06:26:45 PM
I believe that UASF is going to win. If you are looking for make profit using both chains, just make sure you have control over your private keys and running a full node.

I don't want the UASF lobby to win the battle, but now it seems like they will have their way. Anyway I don't want to lose out just because I don't like UASF. I will support them, although reluctantly. I have already moved my coins to a secure wallet, and I am having the private keys with me. But I will not be selling BTC Classic immediately. I will wait for at least one year, before dumping them.
1655  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: moon.cryptothis.com - crypto market cap visualization on: June 18, 2017, 06:24:04 PM
Any suggestions for the site?

It will be better to add translucent horizontal lines at regular intervals (such as 0b, 5b, 10b.etc). Also, please add a few more crypto-currencies, such as Stellar Lumens, Byteball, Dogecoin, Monero, and Torcoin. Another suggestion would be to order them by their market cap. Right now, BTC is followed by LTC and Dash. It could be in this order: BTC, ETH, XRP.
1656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: June 18, 2017, 06:14:56 PM
Why not? Definitely I am an "ordinary citizen", and I am collecting Bitcoins ever since 2014. I am not a coder or a developer, nor am I in any means a tech geek. I am sure that more than 90% of the Bitcoin users are people like me. It takes just basic computer/smartphone knowledge to trade and own Bitcoins. It is not rocket science.
1657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man Robbed at Gunpoint for $1,100 Worth of Bitcoins in Brooklyn on: June 18, 2017, 06:12:27 PM
Seems like a lot of conmen and criminals are getting attracted to Bitcoin, probably as a result of the rising exchange rates. The last time I heard about similar incidents was way back in 2014 January, when the prices were around $900 per coin (If I am not wrong, that incident also occurred in the state of New York, although I am not sure about the exact location).
1658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cash is better than Bitcoin. on: June 18, 2017, 06:07:16 PM
The only advantage I can think about physical cash right now is its anonymity. Bitcoin is also very anonymous, but there is always a chance of tracing back the transactions to the user through the Blockchain. But with physical cash, it is almost impossible to trace the transactions (unless you are able to attach some sort of GPS chips to the banknotes).
1659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin money? on: June 18, 2017, 06:05:42 PM
Definitely yes! Why there is so much doubt and confusion about it? Bitcoin is a form of currency, just like the United States Dollar or the Great Britain Pound. Just because it doesn't exist in the form of banknotes and coins, you can't say that it is not a form of currency. And it is an entirely different thing that it can be used as an investment as well.
1660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best cheapest currency !? on: June 17, 2017, 06:55:39 PM
What are the cheapest currency best to invest?

In my opinion, the cheapest currency to invest right now is Litecoin. I reached the conclusion after comparing the market cap of various altcoins, with the user base. Litecoin is still having a large number of users, but the rise in the exchange rates have been more modest when compared to some of the other alts, such as Ripple and Nemcoin. It has a lot of future potential.
