11.80    - 4 (21.1%)

No one should ever pay a DDOS ransom. Eventually you can quell the attack with multiple solutions. DDOS is unsustainable and is a US Felony.

mining pools were DDOS for ransom back in the day. they just moved to a host that provided DDOS protection.
16647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DDOS for ransom on: September 18, 2012, 11:21:59 PM
Seems like there is a demand for a "Protection Business" ... pay some regularly and you get security services for your site that may include things like unspecified counter-attacks against attackers and other black arts that could serve as deterrents against would-be threats.

Is this a serious proposal??

In real world this pattern is known as racketeering: put a shop on fire and then offer protection to the threatened owner. Do we really want Bitcoinland go that route?

Semi-serious. In the real world it is known as "advanced" policing or mafioso tactics ... take your pick.

CloudFlare is free (http://www.cloudflare.com/)

i doubt you can compete with that...  Tongue

What I don't get is why there is a 600 BTC wall @ 12 on BTC-e when the rate at gox is almost 30 cents USD higher.

it could be BTC-E users ran out of cash buying it up to 12$ ?

I dont know... Looks like a tsunami from here. Just look!

If we get lured to far into the deep by withdrawing tides, we may drown in the flush of water back to shore!

"place your bids people, someone is bound to dump a butt load of coins all at once!"

in your dreams...

don't count on a sell off, your either on-board or being left behind.

Im on board Adam, dont worry! (r u?)
Be vigilant around 13.5$-15$, just sayin'. This rally feels pushed, there is not much buying pressure right now and no foundation. If ASKs are removed and put back up higher, there is a tsunami mounting up the greedy won't see coming..
FISHFODDER!!! HAHAHAHARRHARRHARR

I can feel that too, that why i sold a few the other day...

regretting it already  Tongue

Beside bulletproof hosting, there are also services like cloudflare, isnt that an option?

I'd like to see a bulletproof web hosting servers created by and for the bitcoin community

I'd sign up!
16653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DDOS for ransom on: September 18, 2012, 09:31:26 PM
So is bitpay still under attack and still down?

It appears they are adding DDOS protection, they probably are creating a mirror right now.

I suggest everyone creates back-ups NOW, and start looking at DDOS protection.

If recent history is any indication the following question does remain: Will a certain pirate gather enough strength to come ashore and violently wake up the hibernating bears?

lol maybe!

but nothing can stop the never ending bull run

expect a slow gird up, with a few dumps along the way, every time the rally gets out of hand.

Month and a half ago you were talking down the price. Now it's the opposite. lol

Month and a half ago, we we're heading for 15 to fast.... i did pretty good during the crash since i had sold alot at ~13 (avg price)

now that we can see the after math of the crash..... UP is the only way to go.

if you take a big step back, bitcoin will look like a never ending bull run...

but this doesn't mean price will never go down at times

don't worry ill let you know when the next crash is just around the corner  Cool

Forecast: clear sky, perfect conditions for launch... prepare for blast off to a new level!
