17603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Infographic: why the sky is the limit on bitcoin prices on: June 30, 2012, 11:41:55 AM
A very handy (because the math is simple) way to think about bitcoin's huge potential upside is to focus on the $20 trillion in the cash and checking account bubbles (which, as I understand it, gives you the world's M1 money supply).  There will be roughly 20 million bitcoins in circulation when they're all released. So the trick is to figure out what percentage of the value being held in the current M1 money supply will eventually move into bitcoin.  If you think it's only 0.001% (1/100,000th) that gets you a price per bitcoin of $10.

0.01% - $100 / BTC
0.1% - $1,000 / BTC
1% - $10,000 / BTC
10% - $100,000 / BTC
100% - $1,000,000 / BTC

I'm hoping for a hundred percent, but I'd settle for 10.  Wink

whats your formula

$20trillion * 0.0001 / 21million?

I stayed up all night watching videos / documentaries about how the US is about to loss its status as the world reserve currency, and all that jazz...
Now I'm looking at buying silver, as the video told me to do
but 5$ premium on each coin, 20$ of shipping....
can't i just keep my money safe using bitcoins, with bitcoin their is no premium, no shipping cost.   Smiley

What do you think,
Should i hold some silver along side my bitcoins?
Or just go all in on BTC

Also i didn't find any videos about Canadian dollars about to implode on its self. is my CAD safe from the same kind of hyperinflation. Maybe its my normalcy bias talking but, this can't really happen in Canada... or can it!  Shocked

17611  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of year price prediction on: June 30, 2012, 12:04:23 AM
when is ASIC hitting the market?
17612  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of year price prediction on: June 29, 2012, 11:54:04 PM
Above $10 for sure folks.

It is inevitable ... people hoarding. Reward dropping, ASIC coming showing huge faith in BTC system and its viability etc.

When ASICs hit, I expect the price to drop hard until we reach a point where the value gained from mining with ASICS makes ROI about 100-200 days.

yes because the ASIC miners dont like to be too profitable, for sure they will sell off all at the same time like mad fools crashing the market...

they're not smart enough to form an oligopoly.

no way in hell, their just simple folk, pushing buttons for bitcoins

Edit: i dont mean to sound like a sarcastic bitch... you get my drift

17614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash!!!! on: June 29, 2012, 07:24:45 PM
If there is a weekend that the bitcoin price ramps up but not fall as we expected, I think it will be this weekend. More new investors are joining the party.

i agree, new investors and some new speculators have joined us, but that's what the rise to 6.60 was all about. again bitcoin is miss-estimated the price based on news of "dumping EUR for bitcoin", soon (i dont know like 1 month) we will have found the true price increase of this "dumping  EUR for bitcoin", once its all said and done i think we'll end up on the high side of 6, but not before we take a dive to the low 6's

IMO

just think, I'm looking to buy a bunch, and I'm waiting for a crash ( is their any other way buy a large amount of bitcoin?  Wink )

but under these market conditions... maybe 6.4 will be "the crash" everyone is waiting for, lol GO bitcoin!
17615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How has Bitcoin changed your life? on: June 29, 2012, 06:04:38 PM
Bitcoin has made my friends and family think I have lost my mind.

It has also made me very happy.  I'm glad to help promote what I feel is something that can really make a difference in the world.  I am a bit less productive at work these days as well...

yup same here  Wink
17616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PorcFest 2012 -- Biggest Bitcoin event ever on: June 29, 2012, 06:03:14 PM
I had a thread about this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74963.0

Basically, I'm down to go and give free things away sponsored by Bitcoin people/companies

We should get tickets for next summer as soon as they go on sale via lottery system

At the future of money & tech summit, Jered and I met Mr. Michael Michaels the founder of Burning Man.

I asked him for some free tickets, but he put on his top hat and walked away  Huh

So, let me get this straight: An event who is anti-money on all forms charges you money for entrance?

Burning Man!
brought to you by the man

i forgot who first said "six point crazy" it was a few days ago on this board, but i picked it up, and liked it!
