reddit gold is one thing, I wish to have a bitcoin based micro-payment tipping system on reddit, instead of a user bot. I want a "tip" link under every comment, so that people can choose to easily tip someone for a useful/helpful comment.

...he balanced MA's budget...

Balancing a budget (or reducing the budget deficit) is different than reducing spending.

Significant reduction in spending will never get passed, no interest group will allow reduction, at most they will accept unchanged spending, which is mostly what happened at MA. He's not a dictator, all he can do is work with what can be done, instead of trying what is impossible.
1685  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I'm voting for Mitt Romney on: November 07, 2012, 02:22:52 PM
Obummer was elected...  :\

Maybe next time the republicans will put forth a true fiscal conservative with real ideas that have a chance of working.  I am not saying Obama's plans are going to balance the budget, but they are more likely to then Romney's.

The last time the budget was balanced was under Clinton with 39% upper tax rate.  This plus real cutting can bring us to a balanced budget and that was off the table for Romney.

You believe too much what they say, but not look enough at what they actually did. No campaigning candidate will declare "I will raise fucking taxes on you". Please research into what Mitt Romney did while being Governor of MA, you'll see he is a true fiscal conservative, and he balanced MA's budget, which his predecessors and successor has failed to do so.

Barrack Obama don't even know what a balanced budget look like, since he never had to manage anything of importance, before becoming POTUS. It's a joke.

Well, it's no secret google's founders and current CEO are big democrat supporters.

Looking at Romney's record, Every single organization he managed, be it a multi-billion dollar company, a major sporting event or a large State. He had always balanced their budget, and it was always rising from a state of huge deficit. I trust Romney's excellent record. Therefore I'm voting Mitt Romney tomorrow.

What about the support for Patriot Act? NDAA? Foreign entangling and debasing of the currency? Anyone who wants to wipe out my constitutional protections, Obama included (resigned Patriot Act, NDAA, tons of Executive Orders), doesn't have my vote.

One thing at a time, the most important issue right now is that Obama has given you 6 trillion additional debt in 4 years, and Obama response to hitting the 16T debt ceiling is "we have always raised the debt ceiling when we hit it". Everything else is insignificant compared to the debt time bomb, just look at Greece.

Pretty much this response:
Oh, yeah. As we stare out of our jail cells, we can all take comfort that the country is at least debt-free.

I can't reform anything if I am criminalized or my constitutional rights rescinded. Civil liberties first, then worry about debasing of currency and systematic theft. IMO.

Sure we need to improve civil liberty, but any sane person should agree it's not that much of a pressing issue, this is not Soviet Russia/North Korea level of bad, this is just a little bad. You need to get your priorities straight. A economic disaster would affect your life much more than the existence of the Patriot Act. Ask the Greeks which would they prefer? their debt gone and economy back? or government wiretaps?

Once we solve the more pressing issues, then we can pick and choose candidates that are better for civil liberty.

You will get a smaller deficit and a real chance to balance the budget, for starters.

This is a valid address in that the checksum is correct but I would not call it "real" in the sense that those BTC will ever be recovered - they will never be recovered.

Incorrect, they are unlikely be recovered, but not never. THERE IS A CHANCE.
1692  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama or Romney ? on: November 03, 2012, 12:02:59 PM
Maybe you'll eventually convince yourself.

I do not need to convince myself because it's a fact Romney and Obama are provably different on the issues I care about. For example, as governor of MA, Romney signed an executive order to ban AA in MA. Obama never did anything like that, Obama on several occasions publicly said he support AA policies, including siding with the university on the current ongoing supreme court case.

How much different, do you need to get? and these are just on issues I care about, I'm sure they are completely different on many other issues as well. So I tell you again, to say they are the same, is completely misleading and untrue.

Roll Eyes

the thing is their is no reason for this bearish trend right now.
last year their was some serious bad news and major hacks, and this scared off alot of people.
now there is only good news ( and some exchange site getting  hacked doesn't scare anyone anymore )

IMO when we saw the rise to 15, and then the dump to 8, this was reward halving being priced in;

now people will continue to unload coins until they see some major support Pop-up

and since their is no really good reason for bitcoin's price to drop, this support will Pop-up faster then most think.

we are here now!

10.xx is where the first major support will be, and I don't think the bears are packing THAT much heat, so it could very well be enough support to kill the bears!

Well pirate40, the bitfloor hacker has to liquidate their millions of dollar worth of coins sooner or later. Plus the latest GLBSE fiasco probably made many people get their coins back from GLBSE or the issuers and sell, since there's obviously a major downtrend going on.
1694  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama or Romney ? on: November 01, 2012, 03:50:17 PM

Misleading, Obama has several deal breaker stance on issues for me, AA, STEM and legalization of illegals. There are huge differences on issues between Obama and Romney, to say they are the same, is highly misleading.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info acount hacked while using yubikey.... on: October 28, 2012, 09:28:53 PM
Another ID10T keeping coins on some website and losing them. It never ends
HAHA. BTC , just what grandma needs.... HAHAHAHA

The problem is not keeping coins on website, blockchain.info is quite safe. The problem is re-use of passwords, simple passwords and not using a secure password manager like Lastpass.
1696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info acount hacked while using yubikey.... on: October 28, 2012, 02:48:14 PM
If you re-use passwords, getting hacked is just a matter of time, fucking yahoo stores password in plaintext,
they just leaked 500k passwords, including my password, and my yahoo mail got hacked, but luckily I don't
re-use passwords, so this had about zero effect on me, yahoo mail I stopped using a long time ago, only
a few old contacts got virus/trojan sent to them.

First step to not get hacked, get Lastpass or some password manager, that defeats keyloggers and forces you
to not re-use password.
1697  Other / Politics & Society / Re: White house cuts corners, saves money on: October 28, 2012, 02:33:58 PM
With absolutely no evidence, I'm going to claim it was expensive as fuck and the money went to someone who knew someone. Saving money, lol.

Definitely, I used to work for the government, and in my department we pay a company around $10k per unit for $500 Dell computers that anyone can buy from the Dell website. Supposedly this company will provide us with technical "support", though I have never seen it.

1699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Downward trend imminent on: October 26, 2012, 04:03:38 AM
I keep seeing this sentiment all over the forums. the cost of ongoing production is less than $1.00 per BTC right now.

If that's the cost of making a bitcoin then people are insane to buy them for $10+ right now.

Think of it as an arms race. Yes, if you're the first person on the battlefield with a gattling gun, you're going to greatly increase the effectiveness of your army. But sooner or later (and in the case of ASIC, sooner) your enemy will get gattling guns too and the cost of war will go up.

The first people with ASICs are going to make a killing.  Anyone receiving their ASIC a week or so later is going to spend many months paying it off.  The window for fat profits is literally only a few days before the hash rate skyrockets.  BFL sending orders out will be a true popcorn moment for bitcoin.

Pressure to sell bitcoins to recover ASIC costs will be intense.  Graphics cards can be used for gaming, scientific computing or sold on eBay for someone else to do the same.  Bitcoin ASICs have only one use and it'll be a huge race to the bottom to recover costs.

sub $1 is the cost to produce bitcoin once you have the equipment, but the initial investment is quite high, you have to estimate how long it will take to break even. I think most people will see 1-2 years as acceptable, though I think realistically we will be looking at 2-3 years once competition gets intense. At that time there would be another halving, so all bets are off again. I don't expect ASIC owners to really make that much money in the long run.
1700  Economy / Speculation / Re: Downward trend imminent on: October 26, 2012, 01:55:49 AM
It seems like the down into rising selling volume is becoming entrenched, with some relatively large sales going through on down slides.

It is indicative of saturation, i.e. the huge rate of inflation of bitcoin, currently ~25%, has finally caught up to what has actually been until now a phenomenal rate of adoption. It seems that the scheduled halving of bitcoin inflation rate in 5,000 blocks can not come a moment too soon, although it too is probably throwing uncertainty over the market.

But in the meantime I can see a powerful selling down, perhaps revisiting the hard floor at cost-of-production (around $4) but may go as low as $2.5 depending on how much pain the new ASIC miners can handle with their cost of capital for shiny new hardware, i.e. will they keep pumping bitcoins at a loss or rather buy at the market?

Anyway, look out below is my advice.

With ASIC, there is only very tiny cost of production, since the cost is mostly upfront. The cost of ongoing production is less than $1.00 per BTC, so the ASIC miners don't really lose money, they just take longer to break even, there's no reason for them to turn off their machine ever.
