1681  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2016 rally is led by India on: December 26, 2016, 01:16:33 PM
I think it's still china mostly but you can add in india as another country that is going to increasingly adopt bitcoin to keep moving their wealth from their collapsing economies, and once it starts rallying then people in the western world start paying more attention to it. I think we will see russia as another country that starts massively putting money into bitcoin to avoid economical collapse soon too.
1682  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the current rally really that crazy? on: December 25, 2016, 07:29:46 PM
Agreed, I think we are way undervalued and when people see that think that they should be selling for $2000 not $900 then the price will continue rising. Today was faster than is usually healthy but we need to get up to $1000-$2500 and stay there for a prolonged period. If we do this then more and more good stuff will be developed for Bitcoin as the economy will be significant enough.
We are undervalued indeed. When its all said and done, bitcoin is an unique asset and no other asset can deliver a similar experience. Once we solve some problems and release segwit into the wild then we will have a package strong enough to defeat every other asset and currency on the planet. Governments fear segwit and thats why they are paying people to shill BU and be anti segwit, but we will win.
1683  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin resuming rise on the effect of Boxing Day? on: December 25, 2016, 07:17:16 PM
Why would i want to give somebody that i love an asset with broken fundamentals that is overbought in a hyped pyarmid scheme market? Unless i really really hate them of course...

Your FUD doesn't make sense, but even if im replying to a troll, it is reasonable that the rally dipped in christmas because owners of bitcoin may have bought steam giftcards and so on. I know a guy that bought videogames for his brother and other family members, all those sales means sold BTC. Once holidays are over the train will keep going to 1000+ where it belongs as the unique asset it is.
1684  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rally! Keep hold your coins! watch that chart 1200$ soon. on: December 25, 2016, 07:09:55 PM
Looks like we are indeed on a new rally, is 859$ the bottom for the last dip before we go past the 912$ resistance? only one way to find out, and you don't want to get caught holding no coins so you better don't risk trying to play the market, buy more on the dips and you'll make more money than risking money trying to short the market and trying to sell at peaks.
1685  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin resuming rise on the effect of Boxing Day? on: December 25, 2016, 07:01:37 PM
Nah. Allow the market to calm down first. After that we'll see whether or not the price will continue to rally. I am more than happy with the price staying above the $800 levels. I prefer the price to remain around current levels, than to rush up further where we could face some serious dumps. Let's enjoy what we have achieved so far.
Same, I wish that the price stays lower for a long amount of time, I need more time in order to accumulate and reach the 21 BTC long holding dream, if the price keeps going up at this rate I might not be able to reach the goal in time since it will be impossible to get that much BTC at such prices. Unfortunately, it seems like we are going to go 1,000 soon. We bottomed at 859$ hours ago and something tells me the market is bullish and doesn't want to wait to cross 900 again.
1686  Economy / Economics / Re: How many BTC will make you a fiat millionaire in 5 years? on: December 25, 2016, 06:44:06 PM
We need another 100,000% increase to have 1 million per coin. Some might say it's impossible, but we are dealing with uncharted territory. Everyone said 1,000 dollars per BTC was impossible back then, but as we know, it happened and everyone all over the world went insane. This can happen again, and will happen at 10,000, at 100,000, and then at 1,000,000$ when everyone will go nuts.
1687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I've heard a lot about the manipulator on BTC's. It is he? on: December 25, 2016, 06:13:34 PM
You have to ask yourself: Is a 14 billion marketcap prone to manipulation? I would say yes, if you believe there are whales big enough for that. Im pretty sure there are very wealthy people out there, but it would take a big group of big whales in order to move the market at will and we would be looking at synchronized action.... very hard to pull. I think its just supply and demand and some manipulation.
1688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 25, 2016, 05:42:41 PM

I want to get back into Monero, I invested originally back in the day but eventually sold. It seems they are finally making it more user friendly with the GUI. But I still have problems with the scalability problem. Some people complain about Bitcoin's blockchain being too heavy but we already got it figured out with segwit, lightning network etc to scale for the next years. Now my question is, how is Monero going to deal with its blockchain which as far as I remember is a couple times heavier than Bitcoin or grows at a faster rate? Also how fast is Monero nowadays compared to Bitcoin?

I guess for its niche that is not an important but its still good to know how thinks are going to be dealt with in the future.

Yes, blockchain will be bigger, but I dont see many people complaining about BTC blockchain size - it's the block size and subsuquent congestion that is the real issue, and we have that covered with adptive blocksizes, so we will never have to have the debate that is going on with BTC now. At the end of the day its just data storage, and the price paid for XMR privacy is a bigger chain. Sure, that will likely lead to more node centralisation in the future, but that seems an unavoidable part of this tech.

AFAIK, and from what I have read, there is absolutely no reason why the 2nd layer solutions being proposed for BTC cannot  be applied to XMR in due course, so I don't see any problems there tbh. It's not like we need them yet, and the tech will be more mature by the time we do.

Pure speculation : As the Aeon project has been taken on by Smooth, is part of the monero stack exchange,  and XMR tech is going to be implemented there in due course, it would not surprise me to see Aeon playing a role in XMR's future as a slightly less private, but very related coin that one could keep smaller balances in for day to day stuff. It is a 'lighter' version of Cryptonote and intended to be mobile-friendly, with some compromise on privacy levels to achieve that. That may play a part in scaling too ...
EDIT : Disclosure - yes I have bought a bunch purely on the basis that Smooth is involved, it looks like it will be developed alongside XMR, and its being virtually given away at the moment ...

Centralized nodes will happen only if the blocksize is too big for the average computer a particular time. Like right now, 1 MB seems like a good enough sweet spot to keep for Bitcoin. On top of this, you can build a second layer and still be safe with a network core that remains decentralized.

Now, if the blocksize is too big, it doesn't matter what you build on top, you are already fucked since the network is centralized, therefore all the anonymous technology is useless.

So I would say that a conservative blockchain sized BTC + LN is more secure than XMR with a centralizing tier blocksize...
1689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 23, 2016, 06:38:36 PM
Also seems the GUI release is (unsurprisingly) resulting in more people running full nodes already.
Node count had been hovering 390-420 ish last few weeks, now up to 447, highest I have seen it. This is great for the future and we are only one day in Wink

https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html

If anyone has a historic chart of node count I would be really interested to see that.

Can't wait for Backround Mining to be introduced - is there any timeline on this ? I think one of the most important issues for monero now is to get the security level up and I am pretty sure that there are many of us here who would gladly 'donate' hash power to the network will little expectation of reward (other than the intrinsic reward of helping to secure the network in a distributed manner)

I hope Jaxx can follow through in a timely manner with their mobile wallet and integration into their upcoming hardware wallet that is being developed. Or anyone else!

The pieces really seem to be falling into place for monero now. 2% of Alphabay business already, with no GUI, no HW wallet, no mobile wallet, no Ring CT ... 5% by end of Q2 seems entirely possible imo. Then we can say the snowball is really starting to roll ...

Bring on 2017  Cheesy

1690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC @0.004 - whats up on: December 23, 2016, 06:32:09 PM
Very easy. LTC holders are fearing that we are approaching a new all time high on Bitcoin, so they are dumping their LTC. ALL altcoins have been on the red for the past 24 hours and more. The thing is, everyone just wants to make more Bitcoin, and Litecoin holders are no different, make no mistake.

Ironically, from the top 10 coins Zcash was the only that I saw on the greens with a 5% price increase. I wonder who the hell was buying ZCash in the middle of a massive Bitcoin rally lol
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: December 23, 2016, 06:27:58 PM
I just saw some footage of McGregor sparring with some ex boxing champion, you can find it on youtube easily, just type "McGregor boxing sparring".

He has good reflexes, he makes some good angles, but that's about it, he doesn't seem fit to take on the king of pound for pound boxing even with the advantage of being younger. His jab is not on point, he is years away from Floyd's defense.. I think im going to bet that McGregor losses. I have won money everythime Floyd fought, I don't see why this time it could be different.
1692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we convince Google to have a Bitcoin Doodle on Genesis day? on: December 23, 2016, 06:22:35 PM
Very good idea, I support this, the doodles are cool and im sure there's nothing particularly interesting in January 3 that would be better than Bitcoin's Genesis day. But I doubt it will happen since I don't see Google being supportive of Bitcoin. I have seen some good videos of Google about Bitcoin but im sure that is from their geeks deppartment making content, not sure if they would expose Bitcoin into the frontpage of the internet (that's pretty much Google nowadays)
1693  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin in 2017 on: December 23, 2016, 06:14:28 PM
I am pretty sure that we are going tos ee the new all time high during the 2017 year, and it's not only going to be a spectacular year price wise, but the technology will advance too. We will finally see Segwit activated as the bullshit campaign against it gets defeated (it will fall due it's own weight). We will finally keep moving forward towards a faster, more optimized, and more private Bitcoin, people will keep moving their wealth into the blockchain and the price will reach jupiter.
1694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very little Press Coverage of Bitcoin's Rally this time on: December 23, 2016, 05:29:53 PM
All I could find are the following articles:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-23/bitcoin-surges-above-900-on-geopolitical-risks-fed-tightening

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-22/bitcoin-soars-above-900-china-opens

http://uk.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-price-breaks-900-on-december-23-2016-12

This is in sharp contrast to Dec 2013 when everyone but everyone was covering it.

It's also in sharp contrast to the Ether pump, which even had the NYTimes busily talking about how ETH would replace BTC.

The mainstream media now have the order of the powers that be to not inform the public about bitcoin since they are scared that it's going to take the banking system down, so they dont want to give any bad news, they will just keep talking about hacks and crime and stuff.

Maybe they will not be able to keep quiet about it when we hit a new ATH in the next hours/days.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a revolutionary currency but a fairly inefficient payment network on: December 23, 2016, 05:26:44 PM
Thinking about it, I would say No, Bitcoin is not an inefficient payment network. Once the news started getting out on how to carry spam attacks on the network at ease, those larger whales could abuse the network by spamming the network and filling the block size quickly. I would say this does make Bitcoin slow to process and confirm, but it is still efficient considering how decentralized it is and that you get to pay from your mobile wallet at ease at any Bitcoin accepting merchant. You'll notice that a lot of sidechain tools are proposed to be out right after segwit especially Lightning networks which could really help with the block size issue and confirmation concerns. It's efficient considering how stable its price is these days and also provides good reliability to those who'd want to accept Bitcoins as a payment method.

Just think about it, you need a decentralized currency by which you could be your own bank and something that is of higher value and accepted by many (more than any other altcoins). It's just the start folks! there's more to improve.

It is fine but we are talking about mainstream levels of usage.... for that it's just not possible to do onchain, we would need a second layer solution like the lightning network, anything else just doesn't cut it, and we can't keep raising the blocksize to accommodate fast and cheap transactions on-chain all over the world because that would make the network useless in terms of decentralization, wereas LN+conservative approach on block size is still decentralized.
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you bet on "Sports" games that you don't know? on: December 23, 2016, 03:16:16 PM
Sometimes I make bets on sports that im not really familiar with. I may have seen some matches or fights or even know some of the people on the sport but i may not have real understanding of the sport and i still gamble because sometimes it's really obvious. For example if you don't know about boxing, you still should know that when mayweather fights it was a reasonable bet to always bet for a win.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 207: Rousey vs Nunes Prediction and Info Thread on: December 23, 2016, 02:16:18 PM
Both are the best female competitors right now in my book. You could say Cris Cyborg is also a top contender but she was just recently caught doping so im not sure what's going to happen with her career now... I always thought she looked a bit weird as if she was on steroids or something, then again you never know, I think everyone in the sport is on steroids.
1698  Economy / Speculation / Re: 778 resistance broken, 779 hit, time to fly!! on: December 23, 2016, 02:05:17 PM
It's been pretty fast, a bit faster than expected. 900$+ seems like a new strong floor right now, pretty awesome. We'll be at 1000$+ before new year, potentially a new ATH even. Everything is possible right now. Only idiots will be missing out on owning a piece of internet history like bitcoin. You couldn't buy TCP/IP shares, but you can buy bitcoin protocol shares. I can't believe people isn't going all in on this thing.
1699  Economy / Economics / Re: Successful bitcoin entrepreneurs? on: December 23, 2016, 01:49:19 PM
People who are successful in a certain niche aren't going to share it here. Sharing your strategy for making money just means more people copy your plans and the potential revenue you can make decreases. If you want to make money - TEST, TEST and TEST. That way you will have built up the research and probably carve out little areas where you can profit.

Unfortunately this is the case... no one is going to help you. All those gurus selling seminars, courses and books aren't selling any step by step guides in how to make money online, they are all making money off those sales, and maybe some actually had success but they are not going to tell you exactly how, they just give some basic guidelines that will not make you money, you will learn something, but making money means testing and having luck.
1700  Economy / Economics / Re: What Cryptocurrency to buy right now? on: December 23, 2016, 01:39:18 PM
Looking at the performances of all the currencies on this planet including altcoins, I would say it's pretty obvious bitcoin is the best performing currency, asset, and any other category, of this year. It's pretty clear now. You may say "but XMR" went higher in %, that may be right, but the trading volume on those alts is an anecdote, it's not even serious.
