Two games down and two exact scores for me. I was going to say I felt pretty confident this week but I didn't want to look an idiot when I got them all wrong  Grin. I've gone for all home wins on the 3 o'clock kicks off today and I'm not expecting many surprises if any. I just hope my Chelsea/Leicester/Everton acca comes in (though I've also gone with the same and an Everton draw instead as that's the game I'm shaky about). Liverpool shouldn't have any trouble with a Kane-less Spurs on the evening fixture but I don't know if that game will be too easy for them, but I could be wrong.
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: YouTube admits error over Bitcoin video purge on: January 11, 2020, 12:02:03 PM
Does anyone have a full list of channels that got wiped? When I first saw people complaining about this I figure it was just the scammy channels trying to sell you ICOs and ponzis etc but it seems that's not the case.

Despite the apologies, I still think bitcoin video enthusiasts should migrate to decentralised video hosting sites like D tube: https://d.tube/

I'm sure many people would rather use something else but like it or not youtube is where the money and traffic is right now so people are still going to use it even with all its flaws. It's the same with many things now even when there's better alternatives. I'm not sure why people are still using ebay when there's plenty other cheaper of even free ways to sell your stuff online and ebay's fees have always been ridiculous and I'm sure someday that will shoot them in the foot if they don't lower them.

Let's not forget how many times Google makes such accident.

Anyone still remember Google Home accidentally listening to the users all the time? Accident or Not, Google's Eavesdropping Mistake Is Terrifying

They're a ridiculously huge company and they can't manually check everything due to the sheer quantity of videos being uploaded every second so mistakes are going to be made and collateral damage will happen from time to time when things are automated but the onus should be on how fast they rectify these mistakes and if they do at all. Luckily in this case they seem to have sorted it quite quickly.
1683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 11, 2020, 11:50:17 AM
Surely in this match there is a surprise whoever won and I think both of them are equal to Arsenal and even points are also above Arsenal by 1 point.
I was also doubtful about Arsenal's match with Crystal Palace, but both of them had good games so it was difficult to determine who won.
But the score won't be far from surgical 2-1. (prediction)

I just hope this match ends in a draw, just like Crystal Palace's last 2 matches at EPL I do not expect them to lose points at home  Smiley

I've gone for the draw here. 1-1. No way I'd back Arsenal in their current form especially away but I'm not sure Palace are playing strong enough to win so when I can't split matches like this I go for the draw.

Weekly sweepstake entry, any thoughts?

Spurs v Liverpool           1-2  0-2
Bournemouth v Watford  0-1
Villa v City               0-2 0-3

*bold is the Im leaning towards  one*

Well Liverpool and Man City will probably win but I personally wouldn't back Watford away. Sure, they're the stronger team right now but both teams are side-by-side in the table and are both fighting relegation so I'm going for the bore draw as I think both teams will cancel each other out and both will be happy with a point. Game could go any way though.

The next match against Tottenham fc should put me in $4,000 winning.

What are you betting on? Spurs to win?
1684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 11, 2020, 11:29:23 AM
A boring first half. I do not see in this match we will find any excitements at all. We can expect a 1 - 0 win for any team or a draw with either a 0 - 0 or a 1 - 1. I do not see any 2 - 0 or a 2 - 1 win for Sheffs. I gone with 2 - 1 for Sheffs and it seems I made a wrong decision. I hope I am wrong here, at least 1 or 1.5 points from this match would be nice.

And it ended 1:0. Snodgrass scored on 92 minute and made result 1:1, but goal was cancelled after VAR review. It's good for me, because I got 1.5 point on Superbru Cheesy.

Well off to a good start as I got that score spot on. I was gutted when I got the notification that West Ham had equalised in injury time and was praying for a var cancellation as often happens these days and it happened haha. It was quite harsh watching the hightlights. The defender headed the ball onto the attackers hand and it was given as handball. It was ball-to-hand really and it's not like he purposely controlled it: https://youtu.be/bxtU_ppPjkk?t=135

What on earth you can change usernames? Because buwaytress was a nonsense name that didn't mean anything at all, I made the account never once thinking I'd end up getting so hooked to Bitcoin and bct! =D So hard explaining to people what my name actually means (nothing) and that I don't speak tagalog (since apparently buway means "instability" to them).

Speak to theymos about it, but it's rare that he changes them and I was surprised by this one and even I didn't realise it at first and thought he was some randomer. I think being able to change your name should come as a perk of a new donator rank. I think that would be quite popular. I'm sure a lot of people dislike their names here and were chosen on the spot. I don't mind mine but I wanted one that I hadn't used anywhere else for privacy reasons.

Pamoldar you have to share the reasons one day for this BitcoinGirlClub thing. You're not catfishing anyone are you?

Lol. He explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4479837.msg53559575#msg53559575
1685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 10, 2020, 06:03:10 PM
Next season we should have a higher stakes league, winner takes all (as well as the normal pool). It would make things a lot more fun for the high ballers.

I wouldn't mind upping the stakes a bit but I don't want to price people out either and I want as many people to join as possible and hopefully the pool will grow over the years. Roughly £25 in bitcoin isn't much but doubling it or more might make many others pass. As Trofo said, I did initially see if anyone wanted to join a higher stakes pool but there wasn't that much interest or enough where I thought it would be worth it. I also don't really want to do a winner takes all. I think it's better having multiple prizes so a lot of people still have a chance of winning something. Hopefully we can get more sponsorship money as well with next pools.

I love this idea and will go with this in next season  Cheesy

I'll consider it. Maybe the winner could get the extra cash then choose whether to buy the hat or spoon themselves so nobody has to give their address out. I can't imagine many people would want to buy the wooden spoon though and don't know if I want to reward someone with cash for doing very badly haha.

whaaat? Pamoldar changed his username? I didn't know you could do that here. Question: can we still call you Pamoldar? D:

And is there anyone who are into FJM? Make sure you make your picks.
Done  Cool

Mousset - Aubameyang - Richarlison - Abraham - R.Jimenez - Mané - Callum Wilson.

About the pool, i'm expecting a close game between Sheffield vs West Ham so, a draw.

Sheffield losing his ground but still able to beat West Ham as they are also bad on road I am going with Sheffield to win.

Yeah, a narrow home win for me, though the draw is tempting.
1686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 10, 2020, 10:22:47 AM
By the way, I was wondering what did you pick in the Wolves vs Newcastle, Everton vs Brighton and Bournemouth vs Watford?

Everton and Wolves home wins and Bournemouth vs Watford a draw probably for me. I've gone for all home wins on the 3 o'clock kick-offs but I'm sure there will be at least one draw in there (maybe the Everton//Brighton game). Watford are the better team right now but not sure I'd back them to win away and both teams are next to each other on the table and are fighting relegation so a draw it is for me (I'm sure they'll both be happy with the point as well). That game could go anywhere though from a bore draw 0-0 to a goalfest like 2-2 or something so not sure whether to risk watching it or not.

Any way, just got my predictions submitted. Hopefully I don’t get another wooden spoon this weekend.

 Roll Eyes

I think we should have a tip jar in our pool where we could put some small amounts, or just take a small portion of sponsored money and actually ship wooden spoons to the recipients. Or at least we should buy and send an actual wooden spoon to the person that collects most of them. We could even engrave it with something  Grin

Nobody wants a wooden spoon and I'm sure people wont want to expose their address for one, but you can actually buy the Superbru-branded spoons and caps:

https://store.superbru.com/products/office-bundle-yellow-cap-wooden-spoon

I suppose if enough people wanted it maybe this pool or the one next year I could take the money out of the pot to have a cap or spoon shipped to the winner/loser.
1687  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 'Why would I want 10 Ferraris, when I can help my people' on: January 10, 2020, 08:51:16 AM
Sadio Mane earns £150,000 a week (and that's not including any performance-based bonuses and sponsorships) so he could buy a couple of Ferraris every month if he wanted, but there's only so much money someone needs before it becomes unnecessary and it's nice to see people actually do something good with their money rather than just blow it all on overpriced clothes and cars. I'm surprised more players don't do it really as nobody needs the amount of money they earn. I wouldn't even know what to do with 150k a week. £150k a year would make you a very wealthy person in the UK and you'd be in the top 1% on that alone.

You could loan out 9 of the Farrari's - for free - to 9 poor people so they have a way to get to work. Keep one for yourself so you have a way to work.

Cool

Of you could probably buy thousands of cheaper cars instead and help even more.
1688  Economy / Reputation / Re: They are abusing their power. on: January 10, 2020, 08:32:01 AM
I'm right in the middle on this one... It would appear this guy writes questions using alts and then answers with The-Devil. This is somewhat confirmed by these alts supporting his frivolous flags. Definitely not trustworthy behavior.

However, I don't think merit farming explicitly makes one "high risk" for trading. If it were trust farming on the other hand, then yes, I could see that being high risk behavior.

I'd say it's shady/deceptive and is obviously going to be frowned upon, but whether someone thinks that is worthy of a flag is up to them.

This case clearly shows the dualism of the forum. The user in question was supported by a lot of well-meaning members including myself when they thought him/her to be a well-meaning and devoted member. But when evidence pointing to the contrary surfaced it was also investigated and acted upon.

There has been a lot of drama in between the line, to whether the merit dump was deserved or the trust flag justified, but it is a system that checks itself and balances almost in the middle, most of the time. So the right decision is taking 'most of the time'.

Never underestimate how sneaky and conniving people can be here. Anyone with a bit of cunning can quickly learn how to game the system here and many do, especially on the hunt for merit. We used to see it a lot with feedback/trust where people would seek out cheap trades with the right people just to build up some 'green' (and I'm sure it still happens).
1689  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK - latest HMRC guidance on Cryptocurrency on: January 10, 2020, 08:17:11 AM
The problem with us in the UK, is that the HMRC could change their stance or ruling at any time in the future and then retrospectively come after you for tax money in many years to come !!!

Can you point to a single case of that anywhere?

If that was the case if the government was running low on money they could simply add 20% to your income tax in 2002.

They'd get their heads kicked in.

Once it's paid under the rules that exist on that day it stays paid. A bit different if you're using some ludicrous avoidance that gets picked apart scheme of course.

They can't retroactively change the rules and then try go after you for them. They might change how they tax cryptos in the future but that's irrelevant to how you pay your taxes right now. As long as you've been following the rules/guidelines now then you won't have a problem, just make sure you stay on top of the changes and make sure to check every year before you do or pay your taxes so there's no issues.

The publication says,

Quote
This paper sets out HMRC’s view - based on the law as it stands at the date of publication – about how individuals who have cryptoassets are taxed. It does not explicitly consider the tax treatment of cryptoassets held for the purposes of a business carried on by an individual.

You need to understand how lucky you guys are! You already have a legal framework where crypto is legally recognized. Also you have a tax law around this. Finally now you have a guidance publication to support the individuals who deal in cryptos! In my country, bank accounts are getting freezed for dealing in cryptos!

I can feel your pain in there sir! Indeed, it is quite hard to be dealing with something that is not recognized by the government even in a seemingly vague way. With the taxation in law, we are always assuming that the government is somehow recognizing the legality of something where the tax is imposed on. I am sure that in countries where recognition of cryptoassets is not yet a reality, time will come when that can happen too. Just be patient and be always creative while dealing with cryptocurrency.

They don't need to provide specific guidance, but just use logic. If you're earning coins then the value should be noted at the point you received them and make sure you keep a good record of this and then there should be nothing to worry about. Capital gains would likely need to be paid if you hold coins for an amount of time and sell them for profit. If you've kept a record of how much the coins were worth when you received them then it's easy to work out the gains.
1690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 09, 2020, 01:47:07 PM
Lol. But why would you change your name to BitcoinGirl.Club? Or expect that I knew who you was. Looked like some rando posting that I'd never seen before  Cheesy.
How am I know that you were silently deleting posts which are from none pool participants 😜
Seriously after knowing the post got deleted I had this in mind for a millisecond that it could be that you did not recognize the username and then I thought - it can't be a good reason so I ignored the thought.

Well there is the local rule in the op that it's only for paying pool participants. We occasionally get yobit shitposters crapping in here but their turds are swiftly removed as are any others that post in here that haven't paid to play.

If Watford were at home I would back them easy, but away I'm not so sure. Watford are the better team right now but they threw away a 3-0 lead in the cup earlier this week. Bournemouth might have lost their last two games but the beat Chelsea away recently and managed a draw with Arsenal and that is what's leading me to the draw. The only thing I need to decide is whether I go for goals or the 0-0.
Yes you have a very valid point and Watford is a team who really play good football in the pitch but throwaway the points. Problem with me is that I always find it very uncomfortable for me to pick a draw so most of the times I go with win and with this match if I do not change my mind lately then I will stick with a win for Watford. I had a very bad round on the last one but I hope this one comes up with some good exact and correct picks.

Well draws are always risky but sometimes a good play when you can't split the teams. Everton - Brighton & Hove Albion is another tricky one. I'll probably go for the Everton home win but I'm really tempted on the draw as well. Both teams have been pretty inconsistent but I think Everton's form has been slightly better and there's the obvious home advantage.

@hilarious: my dream is a Sunday 5v5 of bitcointalk footie bois on neutral ground. It's so awesome in my head.

A five a side match would kill me. They're far too intense and I haven't played in years. Maybe Sportsbook.io could get a bitcoin match set up on the Watford pitch haha. I've always wanted to play in a stadium. I'd probably get fit for that  Cheesy.
1691  Economy / Reputation / Re: Fortunejack Withdrawal Problem on: January 09, 2020, 01:31:45 PM
The title of the ticket 'waiting on fraud' cracked me up.

One time I spoke with the support at a casino with the same license about the issue and that was their reasoning. It's to fulfill the Anti-Money Laundering portion of the licensing requirement, which actually makes a large amount of sense if you stop to think about it. If they didn't have that in place, then those looking to launder their bitcoin would do it solely through casinos and there would be no need for mixing services.

It's pretty standard: FJ, mBit Casino, Betchain, and several others with the same license all do it.

Interesting. Is this just a bitcoin-thing? I've never heard of this on fiat-based sportsbooks but they often they make you play with your free bets or deposit bonus x amount of times. I guess it kind of makes sense, though I'd be annoyed if I deposited some money then realised I couldn't withdraw it straight away. I guess they could argue why would you deposit money if you weren't going to play with it but you could always change your mind or the odds on something you were going to play on drop. I always hated those bet x amount of bet requirements. I can't remember what company it was - might have been FJ - but I won football competition giveaway on here and they deposited the winnings in my account but I couldn't withdraw them until I'd bet the money 1 time. Luckily I won but it would have been pretty annoying had I not.

I think its just normal for any gambling site to check the newly created account won huge rewards in very short time to validate there is no abuse happened at the bet before approving your withdrawal request. It could happen with anyone, so today it is you but doesn't think it's a fraudulent activity I hope your transaction will be processed ASAP once the responsible staff get into his job.

It's not a huge amount, but gambling sites can't really win. If the users account got hacked and their money sent elsewhere people complain about how the company did nothing to stop it. FortuneJack requires email confirmation when you add a new address which is a good feature. A few people on here were crying about when another company held onto a users money whilst they investigated something but they were doing so because there was some clear shenanigans going on and had they not investigated it thoroughly they likely would have sent the money to the wrong person as there were two parties trying to get at the money (which was a significant amount if I recall correctly.

Still unresolved. I do not recommend this site to anyone.

Did they respond at all? FJ are pretty trusted and I don't think they would attempt to steal such a relatively small amount so I think they must suspect something wrong with your account.
1692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 09, 2020, 09:45:54 AM
Re-posting again:

Lol. But why would you change your name to BitcoinGirl.Club? Or expect that I knew who you was. Looked like some rando posting that I'd never seen before  Cheesy.

Bournemouth - Watford game on the weekend could be interesting.
I think Watford will eventually win the stress. Honestly speaking Watford is playing well in their matches but was not able to capitalize to win matches however from last few matches they are getting good result. Here are some EPL match results for Watford:

Watford won against Wolves
Watford won against Villa
Drew against Sheff in the away match
Watford won again Utd

So, considering the recent form I would bet for Watford in this match. However head to head stats indicates that this could be a draw match too.

Any kind of performance tonight will be twice the entertainment United provided last night, but I wonder if Villa is a good bet. City and Leicester will for sure get CL spots. Villa's only hope for European football might pip them over the line?

@hilarious -- Hell yeah that looks spot on. I'm not sure if that's the exact same thing, but the concept's definitely the same: you basically feel very numb, but a HOT numbness instead of cold, so it seems to erase the pain. We call it minyak merah (literally red oil) locally, but I never found out what it contained except probably menthol or eucalyptus.

Full image if you click thumbnail below:

Yeah. It's probably not the exact same thing but similar or does the same job. It's like a burning numbness. Kind of a weird yet paradoxical feeling. I might actually buy some for nostalgias sake  Grin.
1693  Economy / Reputation / Re: Guilty until proven innocent on: January 09, 2020, 09:36:16 AM
What do you think?

If someone says someoene did something wrong, who needs to prove their side? Should the accused prove their innocence? Is the burden on the accuser?

What should happen if someone accuses and refuses to present any evidence?

This isn't a court of law and essentially anyone can create an accusation of wrongdoing here, but they should be taken on a case by case basis and on the evidence or lack thereof presented. If someone creates a thread without any evidence then why would you care? Just ignore it. Someone could create a thread against me proclaiming me to be a scammer, but without any evidence it should and likely would be ignored. However, if someone presented some worthy evidence then it should be acknowledged and can be investigated by others. I can choose to respond or not to either instances as that's my choice but ignoring valid accusations probably wouldn't look good and people can make their own opinions on that.

What kind of accusation are you talking about, OP?  Is it from a DT member, is it even from someone on this forum?
Does this matter? Would your stance change if the person accusing is on DT?

Well it would help to know what issue you're complaining about because each case is unique and without more details we likely can't be conclusive in answering your question. You might have a valid case or not. For Instance, The-Devil seems to be proclaiming his innocence and that he's been abused and hard done by: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215876.0

But given the evidence presented only he seems to think he's done nothing wrong, but obviously others disagree.
1694  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 08, 2020, 10:41:26 AM
Frankly, I'm losing interest now. I feel like I quit everything now. I'm saying this with frustration. Everyone is just looking at my faults.

Are you losing interest because this is yet another account that has been exposed or something else? What is your goal or agenda on the forum because this exposure probably changes very little. You can still post and contribute here with or with the feedback or merit.

No one is pointing out my good points. Did I do anything good for this forum? Has no one benefited from me? Everyone's behavior looks like I've committed a heinous crime.

What are your good points? It seems that any 'good' you may have done here was done so just to try fish for merits.

Dear @Nandini_crypto Why did you create this topic? Today my account has been converted to hell. Everyone thinks I'm guilty. Why you are off now? please say something.

Well it's pretty obvious: to discuss whether the post in question deserves all the merit it received. Lots of people create threads for merit abuse or threads that cause alarm by receiving a lot of merit and 50 merit for relatively insignificant post definitely rings alarms.

Frankly, you care too much about an Internet rating... These feedbacks haven't hindered your ability to post on the forum! You can still contribute to any board you feel like contributing... If I were you I would move on... Keep learning and contributing maybe over time you can prove us wrong... That's your only hope with this account...

Agreed. A negative rating without a flag isn't even the end of the world here now like it used to be. I'm sure there are plenty of campaigns that will still accept you, or maybe just stick around and try to prove your worth and change people's minds about you.
1695  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 08, 2020, 09:49:45 AM
This doesn't really prove anything other than you can type. There's a huge difference between following a typing test and coming up with something from scratch that requires actual thought and the evidence provided by several people looks pretty damning regardless of how fast you can type.

So how do I prove? Can you give me any suggestions?

No one is trying to understand. I did not ask anyone to give merit in my post. If someone gives merit my post then I have nothing to do here. What's my fault here? It is only because of this merit that everyone is now finding my personal fault and sharing it here publicly. Which is very sad for me. I also have to digest the negative feedback for this little issue. It seems to me that now everyone will see and read these posts and then leave me with negative feedback.

I understand my account has been destroyed. I can't prove myself in any way. This is my failure.

The issue now isn't really who has given you merits and for what. It's the abuse that has been spotted after attention has been drawn to you. I don't really think there is anything you can do ultimately to prove it other than try make a strong argument as to why you're innocent, but the evidence presented looks very damning in my opinion. Sure, it could just be a coincidence or some other shenanigans going on, but I really doubt you're not related to those accounts in some fashion. There's just too many coincidences for me. Your account is barely a month old so it's not the end of the world as much as you might be annoyed that all that merit has gone to waste so if you can't resolve this then I'd just create another account and try again.

1696  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why does violent exist among married men and women? on: January 08, 2020, 09:36:57 AM
I work as a secretary in a law firm and often times I have to go to the court to file cases of divorce. You find out that during the time my boss will try to resolve the dispute or disagreement between the couples, you will begin to hear and see all sorts of insults and abuses from both parties. I just cant stop imagining how two people who claimed to be in love with each are now their own enemies. What are those factors that could result to such irreconcilable differences? Your creative inputs is highly welcome.

Because they're hurt and are not in love anymore? Seriously, I've never seen such pettiness from both sides than when a relationship ends but it's done because at least one of the parties got emotionally hurt and they now want to hurt the other person in any way they can.

I like the phrase there ain't no enemy like an ex-best friend because it's true. There usually has to be a bond that has been broken or a trust that has been abused to turn someone so sour and make them actively hate or dislike the person. Most people would just move on and forget about it if some arsehole said something to you on the street even if it was hurtful, but it probably hurts a lot more but when it's an (ex-)friend or (ex-)partner and people seem to take that much more personally and to heart.

Because for women , the goal has been achieved ie , getting the man to put the ring on the finger. The chase is done. My experience?

I have seen my friends and neighbours get married and it happens to them.

For the guys , normally the women takes HALF of his assets. I'm sorry but if that doesn't make you want to swear and scream , then idk whats wrong with you.

Marriage is prostitution. Any rational male if reviewing marriage will see that it is not in his benefits but only the woman.

If it doesn't have any benefits for the male then why would males get married? There clearly is benefits because it wouldn't happen otherwise and 99% of the time it's men that propose. Don't get married if there's no benefits to you. All marriage is in most cases is a ring and a bit of paper so it is worthless in most cases and I wouldn't suggest it.
1697  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 08, 2020, 09:12:08 AM
Whilst I think there is a definite issue regarding lack of sources and merit sent I don't think that means you need to give all the merit away to anyone regardless of it going to waste or not. That post in the op really doesn't deserve any merit in my opinion. At most maybe one as a congratulations but I wouldn't give it anything, though I see several others disagree. These sorts of look at me I ranked up threads threads are dime a dozen and will only become more prolific once people see they get merited.

It is OK.

It's best if sources try to exhaust their source allocations, even if it means giving posts higher amounts than is typical. If you have 150 source merit and you only see 3 merit-worthy posts in a month, then I'd rather you over-give each of them 50 merit than let the merit expire. That way there are more people capable of sending merit, and the "merit economy" is less top-down.
I don't really agree with theymos here, and I wouldn't have done it myself, but in the big picture it doesn't really matter: if a user isn't a spammer, 50 Merit doesn't hurt the forum, and he gets to merit other posts again.

The drawback of not sending 50 at a time is that I'm still sitting on 8% of all the sMerit I ever had. And having a busy day like today doesn't help Tongue

I don't agree with giving 50 merit away just for the sake of it. I can understand maybe bumping up a very worthy post from 10 merits to 50 if they're going to go to waste but not a post that arguably only deserves one at most (and as I said I don't think these self-congratulatory ranking up threads deserve anything at all in the first place). Giving away merits recklessly like this is obviously going to lead to shenanigans like this but hopefully they'll be in the minority.

This doesn't really prove anything other than you can type. There's a huge difference between following a typing test and coming up with something from scratch that requires actual thought and the evidence provided by several people looks pretty damning regardless of how fast you can type.

I am really confused now. Did I royally fuck up Or not?

The-Devil fucked up.

So how did I become a fake newbie?

Fake newbies are users that sign up and pretend or appear to be a brand new user to the forum, when in reality they've got another main account or more and have likely been a member for a very long time. It's often easy to spot because the users seem to have a pre-existing knowledge of certain forum-related things.

Almost 90% of the posters started off here as shitposters, trying to earn money etc and have changed to by far the best posters this forum has encountered.

You signed up one month before I joined the forum and signature campaigns were definitely here then, at least PrimeDice was. I don't think they were the first either but were certainly the most popular at the time. I think Stunna has commented somewhere in Meta on this and the history of campaigns somewhere if you wanted to search for it. I remember being quite annoyed that I'd made over 100 posts before I discovered PD were paying for them. I'd seen the PrimeDice signatures everywhere but didn't realise PD were actually paying for them. At first I couldn't quite believe it because the top amount you could earn per month was about £300-500 a month or something for about 400 posts which is a decent amount for merely posting on a forum. The rates even went up over time and then again when signature restrictions came in with ranks. The spam was kept to a minimum back then but it quickly grew into a problem and practically became its own industry. Now it's mostly been taken over by ICOs but the bitcoin paying ones have certainly dwindled. Back in the day anyone could sign up and start earning top amounts but that obviously started to become abused very swiftly and hence the need for rank restrictions and then even further down the line merit.

I really can't remember why I signed up and the idea of earning money either didn't exist then or didn't occur to me. It would be interesting to hear from more who signed up in 2011/12 or before and what their motivations were. The idea of making a living from your internet cafe through it would've been non existent.

Well it probably would be the same reasons why anyone joins a forum on a particular subject. Usually because they're very interested in the topic and want to either discuss about it or learn more. I'd heard of bitcoin probably a few months before I joined the forum and I was very exited about it. At first it was because the political and economical aspects of it that interested me, but I also saw the potential of it as an investment opportunity once I'd read into it more. I actually first heard about bitcoin due to the news coverage it got because people were using it on sites Silk Road. I'd joined a few forums before, mostly of my favourite bands, and had even become a mod of a couple of them, but posting on them and not here quickly became a waste of time really especially when time was money here. I've mentioned this here in the past before, but you often get the older jaded members of a forum who become snobby and unwelcoming to newbies and outgrow it. One board of a band I was a mod at was inhabited by a lot of users who didn't even like the actual band anymore and had turned into snobby condescending hipsters who were now too cool for everything and only cared about the bands that nobody had heard of, but they stuck around like a bad smell making it unpleasant for everyone else, especially the fans of the actual band. The atmosphere really became so toxic that most Newbies just left soon after they joined because it was so unwelcoming and it got so bad that the actual fans even created their own new site and forum. I guess it's not so dissimilar to the other boards that have been created as an alternative to this one but you would think that if people lost interest in bitcoin they would leave.

I wonder how many people will be checking their older posts today and having a purge of all the ones they don't like  Grin.

I occasionally browse the first posts of longtime users. Sometimes I recognise them. Sometimes they've morphed into something completely different. Some of those who started off sunny and inquisitive have wound up frosty and elitist.

I guess anyone can become this way over time and it depends how involved you became with the forum or how much you care about it (and how much people start to annoy you). It's often hard to see how you yourself changes as it's a gradual process just like you don't notice physical changes in yourself or with weightloss/gain, but others do because they have that outside perspective and often don't see you every day. Being a mod and being partly responsible for the uptake/order of things here certain things can annoy you when you're responsible for cleaning up constantly. Think of it like someone managing a flower garden and kids keep coming in and shitting all over it and pulling the plants out. It would start to piss you off and turn you sour if you were in charge of looking after it day after day, but I've started to care less about certain things though, especially with things I can't really change. I used to spend a lot of time trying to get on top of signature spam and finding abusers of certain things but it's never-ending and I'd just rather spend my time on things less stressful now. Not much point in doing things you can't change or haven't even been asked of you in the first place so it's just unnecessary stress and workload really and there's already a lot of that to go around already.

Bournemouth - Watford game on the weekend could be interesting. Both are fighting to get out of the relegation zone and a win for either would likely take them out of it, especially since I don't expect West Ham or Villa to get any points this weekend who are both just above the zone. I've got a feeling the game will either be a thriller or a dull 0-0 or something though as both teams could cancel each other out.

I probably would have gone with a draw on the Tottenham - Liverpool game as well but since Kane is out I'll likely go for a narrow Liverpool win.

Just noticed Vardy is really running away with the top goalscorer. 17 goals to Aubameyang's 13 behind him. He didn't even play the last match where they thumped Newcastle at home 3-0. I'm sure he would have grabbed one in that game at least. Apparently he'll be back for tomorrow's cup game but if not I'm sure he'll be playing on the weekend

@hilarious: Have a lot of good friends in the UK, but myself only spent 4 months in my 40 years odd life;) I'm Commonwealth, if that means something haha. And magic sponge goddamn, we had the magic oil (it's red, smelly and very "hot" like super eucalyptus) and I think yeah they totally never worked haha.

You mean something like deep heat?

We used to get that sprayed on us as well. It was actually good post game as it warmed you up and kinda took away any aches but you don't want it sprayed all over you during a match. Haven't used it since then but the smell was really potent.
