When observing such things, one should really examine how the "happiness" is measured. More often than not, it's agenda driven with metrics of "social justice" and "nationalized healthcare" rather than attempting to measure the subjective happiness of countries' citizens directly.

Not sure why number going down.

I think in this case, it's going down because it didn't go up. Lots of "pricing in" of a stimulation bump that never materialized.

Aware of that, but it’s a nice term for the word as well  Cheesy

Not really as it changes the meaning quite significantly. It's more this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdNn5TZu6R8&t=1m50s

above a certain income you dont get them. im thinking bob is a wee bit past that amount.

Capital gains and savings are different from income though.

Not a chance in hell.  Chip shortage until 2022.  Best I can find available around here since Early January is the 1660 Super but I doubt that would give you a great Cyberpunk experience.

I do have an RX580 in my VR rig that would be an improvement but it's not really set up for keyboard and mouse gaming. I guess I'll have to move some peripherals around.

What does the profit on GPU mining look like at the moment? Any hopes it will calm down soon? I just want to get an upgrade so I can play Cyberpunk decently.

I don't know if you guys are still dating but that is precisely one of the things that bothers me, people ask you financial information as if it is nothing on the first five minutes of the interaction and then they get offended when you don't answer or evade the question

Sounds like those kind of people you are meeting are blatantly gold diggers. You're probably best off ending the interaction immediately or at least by the next morning if you're inclined to see what you can get from it.

If that person hadn't talked to me about it I wouldn't have really given it thought till the mid 2010's. So in honor and respect of that I'll give a basic discussion to anyone who asks. And if they start arguing about how it USES THE WORLD'S POWER or is a fraud, or HOW ABOUT THIS SHITCOIN I'll just say "sounds like you already know a good bit, nothing I could say can further that" and start talking about hookers and blow or shit like that.

I was speaking to my friend who swapped all the bitcoin I sold him for some useless shitcoin that, of course, went to zero and he now proudly told me after buying some more that he no longer has any bitcoin. Apparently he's all in on eth so at least not completely retarded but still... he also cited the energy thing.

People are being fuelled by greed and getting in on the "next big easy money" and are ending up clutching at straws and rationalizing their shaky choices. If you ask them what their alt-of-the-week brings to the table, you rarely get a satisfactory answer.

It also gets old being asked "What do you think of X alt" to which my reply is typically that there are more than 7000 alts.

It also should sink in that Microsoft essentially makes all it's money putting a new version # on a piece of software that it perfected 2 decades ago, and all the world's corporations and users are forced to upgrade to it no matter what. You "pay" to continue using the same shit you already paid for many times over.

Yep, very special species indeed.

Not content with charging monopoly pricing for their shitty software, they have now loaded it with spyware and adware too.

The taxes part, purse just sends me an email saying the price adjusted, and it's usually due to the taxes, then I have to "approve". So that's what I do. If I buy it myself through the regular amazon page, I get the same taxes either way, so I just take whatever 20%, 25% up to 33% that I can get. It's the same for me.

Must be different depending on location. Here, I seem to get taxes charged even when Amazon is showing no charges and I've never had a notification about price change.

Maybe a temporary blip on our confirmed way much further down.

I'm convinced. Sold everything.

Just leave it for a few days, someone will pick it up. If you can't wait, lower the discount a bit.

*edit* someone just got the kid stroller thing. "Order Accepted" ... Let's hope he doesn't cancel.

I stopped using it around 2017, and left maybe $20 worth. When I logged in last month, it was $200, so I got some stuff with it, LOL. Then turned on 2FA. Purse hodls for you, but I wouldn't count on it. Still, not your keys ...

I usually set it fairly high then depending on urgency, I'll drop it a percent per day. 20% nearly always gets taken quickly. Unfortunately, purse doesn't always calculate taxes correctly so some of the benefit gets lost. You can usually message them to take it off but it gets a bit of a hassle. It might be that my last couple of purchases were fairly low value that meant they weren't as attractive.

We cut the cord many years ago. We don't watch sport and there were only a couple of shows we watched and netflix was good for most stuff and eye-patch wearing took care of the rest. Well worth doing. Though our antenna died about a year ago and we don't miss it much. I still intend to replace it sometime.

We know the ultimate safe haven asset is bitcoin. Soon others will realize this too. However, much of our spending and living expenses will still be paid in fiat. Purse is a nice one, been getting 25% to 33% discounts on everything I put there, I just need to wait patiently for the stuff to arrive.

I like purse. Especially lately, it seems that every time I go back for a new purchase, I have the same dollar worth in my account as before I made the last one. I've been having trouble getting the high discounts recently though. Not sure if that is due to the changing price of Bitcoin recently.

As for vehicle insurance, there are some policies that will replace the car if you total it or for theft. The premium is also higher. I've had the unfortunate incident of having a pickup stolen in broad daylight parked in a large mall. The insurance company could not replace it with an identical model, but gave us the 4WD version of it, so we got an upgrade actually.

True. I should have been more specific that I meant as a general outcome of owning the insurance rather than as a result of loss or damage of the vehicle. I'm still on my first coffee.

You know it's surprising how many people still approach me with the alt coin story "My mate had a buddy say Hex is the next big thing so do you think..."

This is my friend every time we speak. Unfortunately some of his other friends made (or claim to have made) a bunch of money on Bitcoin before messing with the alts so have some superficial credibility. I've tried to explain the pump & dump nature of alts (and how there are more than seven thousand of them so I don't really have any opinion on more than a handful [and most of that is bad]) but I think he only got the message when he got his fingers burnt.

As for the term "Life Insurance", I interpret it as a pension (a lump sum and/or monthly payment) after a certain age, say, 60 y/o.

Life insurance presented as investments are typically really bad at being investments. Better to buy pure insurance and invest the difference. You don't expect car insurance to buy you a new car, after all.

Likely the government being complete thieving dumbasses has been priced in. And for quite some time.
1699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 17, 2021, 03:03:14 PM

Nothing like vague generalities to inspire confidence.
1700  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 17, 2021, 03:00:55 PM

Undoubtedly the case. And probably for the vast majority. However, there are plenty of people who are doing just fine (and it seems the better off you are, the better you are probably doing) who can recognize what the government is doing to their currencies (again, this will tend to overlap). Does this translate to a Bitcoin bump? I have some skepticism myself but there is definitely the opportunity and Bitcoin is fresh in peoples' minds.
