If you had to convert all your wealth to either Bitcoin or gold and keep it there for 10 years, which would you choose? Keep in mind the fact that Bitcoin has only been around for 5 years, and could be fundamentally different in any number of ways in 10 years.
convert all my wealth, keep it on 10 years,is hard to choose. but i will choose bitcoin,i have reason for that, just because if i have bitcoin,i dont need to bring weight thing like gold.

I love the way everyone keeps going on about the weight of gold.  You would have to be a very wealthy man for it to be a problem.

A 1kg bar is the size of a smartphone and is worth nearly $42,000

It depends on the QE. If that QE will continue, the gold bull market will start early and go much longer.

Why would QE stop?

Has the world economy been saved and all the financial problems and debt been sorted?

The economy hasn't been saved, but this doesn't mean that QEs (as we know them) will continue. They served a purpose, actually, to allow more time (to agonize, if you want it this way), but if the damage they wreak will overwhelm the benefits they provide (whatever they might be), no one will be QE-ing any longer...

TPTB are anything but suicides

Negative interest rates will be next, either way all good news for gold prices.
1684  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: May 01, 2016, 07:39:29 AM
There also seems to be more and more tech that requires gold/silver.

They have now just invented a battery that uses gold nanowires that be charged 200,000 without any damage or loss in capacity-

Why not just sell at twice the price on eBay yourself then?

Probably because eBay customers would not appreciate cheap Chinese knock offs.

Piss poor scam attempt.

I would go for the gold because with the gold one you can make a lot more dollars if you do it for a long term.
If you use the bitcoin you can gain a lot more profit on a short term than gold, so it both has advantages.
Gold is a hedge against inflation on the long term, nothing more than that.

I can not find the graph that shows dollar, gold and stock for a century. Gold beats cash but shares beat gold.

Most people now agree that gold is about to enter another bull market with large upside.
1688  Economy / Economics / Re: Holdings of gold vs Holdings of btc on: April 29, 2016, 09:00:36 PM
Here it's quite difficult to get a decent price for gold as no one is willing to pay you more than 85% of the actual value.

And the funny thing is that when you buy gold here that you pay a premium of 10%. Either way, you lose.

What country is that?

In the UK I am buying at 2% over spot and can get pretty much spot selling to some dealers.

You would get over spot if you sold on ebay so why would anyone sell at 85% spot value, are you sure you arent just looking at dodgy pawn shop prices?
1689  Economy / Economics / Re: Holdings of gold vs Holdings of btc on: April 29, 2016, 07:28:15 PM
not to mention that gold in other coun try is more regulated tha other country, for example in some country they require you to show your id when selling gold or buy at phisical shop

bitcoin is free from all those no-sense

Except Russia where it will soon get you up to 7 years in jail -

Other countries to follow?

@ pudg - sockpuppet accounts opinions dont carry much weight here.

Common sense says this thread @ 23 pages long indicates there is a real problem somewhere.

What an annoying idiot. Why ask him to do shit when you know you won't help him.  People like you are the ones I destroy happily.
Of you wanna help him out , do it. If you can't,  just shut the fuck up

And who the fuck are you.

Providing some basic evidence to support his story is likely to help get the funds required.

The only thing you destroy is your moms asshole.

p.s. just checking your feedback and your just another worthless beggar/scammer on the forum asking for hand outs.

You should change your username from morepounds to NOpounds.

This scammer is deleting posts from this self moderated thread.

Asking buyers for private import/export keys to their wallets.
1696  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: April 23, 2016, 10:43:03 AM
Suppose I want to buy gold by myself, I have to trust the seller as I can not test it by myself. If you are a small buyer and can not melt your own bars, gold bars can be filled with tungsten:

Just to stick to large well known bullion dealers like Apmex etc.

A member for whole 6 minutes before asking for $1800.

p.s. why not go outside your house right now and take a picture of -

1) a piece of paper on the windscreen with your bitcointalk username on it.

2) a pic of you sitting in the drivers seat

1699  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] a lot of 1oz Minted Gold Bars (PAMP) and more... on: April 22, 2016, 05:58:28 AM

I think there is no need to check any bullions and bars with weight below 1/2 Oz

Nobody will spend effort to counterfeit 1/10 Panda with price $ 140

IMHO

There are lots of fake 1g pamps in circulation too.
1700  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] a lot of 1oz Minted Gold Bars (PAMP) and more... on: April 21, 2016, 08:18:18 PM
I have been sold fake PAMP and PERTH 1oz bars.

The packaging is flawless(at least the new counterfeit packaging), I could find no differences.  The counterfeiters did an excellent job..haha

For the actual gold..  with the PAMP bars you can notice some differences in detail on the lady fortuna side(up close).  The PERTH bars are not as detailed so they look completely legit.

NOTE: The bars can only be tested once they are out of the packaging, so be aware that you are going to take a slight hit for resell/investment right off the bat.

**The pictures in the OP's first post are of the older counterfeits**

Not true, gold can be xrf checked throught the packaging

http://d65852kwq1u8u.cloudfront.net/message-767835.html

here is a pic of my nice Chinese 1/10 auspicious matters getting xrf checked through the OMP -
