1681  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: beginning with 8xAntminer S9 {Project} on: April 07, 2017, 06:43:32 AM
don't mine in the biggest pool myne in somehow the average good pool or p2pool which i find to be the best

and yes you shuld keep mining bitcoin, last tiem i checked other sha256 are inferior in terms of profit, you can maybe give a try from time to time to some new one but leave the old one behind they are not worth it

the roi time, depend on how much you payed, should be very long now, like 200 days, if diff remain the same and if electricity is zero, none of these are tue of course
1682  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: can you mine bitcoin for the next 20 years on: April 07, 2017, 06:40:07 AM
With the raising cost of hardware in mind I have to say no. Bitcoin will still be mined 50 years from now, but the rewards will be so small that the machines will need a lot of space, power and time to mine a block.
Maybe someone will eventually come up with a miner that has enormous power with minimal power consumption, who knows, but we'll be old by then Smiley

i would not be so sure about this, since mining are only competing against theirselves and other miners now it's possible that if the value do not increase significally, that miners will have an hard time keep mining for profit

the possibility to mine bitcoin for the next century only depend on the value of bitcoin and nothing else, but i think the nethash could see a reduction which would reduce the diff to compensate for the unprofitability, but still retain its security
1683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Any Banks And Any Other Third Parties on: April 07, 2017, 06:05:13 AM
bitcoin could reduce greatly the cost of money transmission, if all the countries were to use it instead of rely on bank

think about the possibility to have a world with only one currency wthout any bank or people that work there

you would have a world with far less useless infrastructure and fee that need to be spend to pay who work on the bank and for maintanace(atm bank itself etc...) everyday
1684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Clarification question, bitcoin network hashrate, comparison to supercomputers on: April 07, 2017, 05:59:29 AM
supercomputer can't mine bitcoin if that is the point of your post, they are far less efficient and slow compared to asic, also they would require huge resource just to mine few satoshi not worth it

basically right now bitcoin mining ecosystem is a whole giant supercomputer that do only one task, which is generate more bitcoin, not talking about node, which only support the network

maybe a better comparison could be made between a supercomputer and all the computer that run a full nodes
1685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to the good old days of bitcoin? on: April 07, 2017, 05:53:53 AM
actually it was 10 minutes for me on average or less some times, not certainly 30 minutes, which is something you might get right now if lucky

i'm still interested in some bitcoin news, but since i was here my main interest was mining, i love bitcoin because of that too, if it there was no mining bitcoin for me would have been evalued 50% less

everything else was not that important, it's something that happened and we can make more interesting things in the future for bitcoin
1686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The only answer against Miners Mafia is UASF on: April 07, 2017, 05:49:20 AM
I support the reasoning behind UASF, but it could be a dangerous experiment if the community is still divided.
I don't think that the community is divided, all community is unanimous in supporting SegWit. I'd not call neither one corrupt chinese with his paid shills the part of the community, nor altcoiner Roger ver.
If we just disregard them, there's no consequence, even if they create their altcoin BTU, noone will support centralized rogercoin with president and secretary.

the problem is that by creating an altcoin like you said, all the hash can go there while reducing the original fork nethash, which is dangerous, because then attack are possible

this si why miners have the upper hand in terms of decision, then you need to find a way to counter this, if you don't want bitcoin to be destroyed by the miners mafia
1687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: April 07, 2017, 05:40:46 AM
yes there are coins that you can mine and have 100% more profit for you than zcash and they are not so small, they die if people find them out, but usually you can keep mine them for that profit for at leat one/two weeks

and i don't know you but mining with 100% profit for 1 or 2 weeks does matter, you can't simply say those coins doesn't matter, it's with those coins that i was able to reach roi very fast on my gpu

i can even tell you what were those coins if you want, because right now they are the same as zcash, one of them was nexus, and if I had not made the mistake to tell to sp, it would be still very profitable more than zcash

i was making 0.03 per rig just so you know, good luck making 0.03 with any 480 rig dual mining what you want..., for the other coins, just be a better searcher in the ann...

I dont think 1050 is good for mining . The best is 1060 or 1070 .

now with the price cut, the 1080 is the best one, 5x1080 are like 6x1070(price and hash), but they are a bit better for density

No, they're still much more expensive. They only hash at what they're supposed to get in a handful of coins as well (Equihash) due to GDDR5x. They're also less efficient, just like the 1080tis.

1070s used to be the sweetspot, the 1060s currently are. I haven't seen reports for the new memory, but I'm sure it makes it even better for memory hard algos like Eth and Zcash.

That being said, they're all completely inferior to buying 480s on many levels.

talking about specific model they are not, for example the palit super jetstream cost 460 for a 1070 and 540 for a 1080, here on amazon, i would prefer the 1080 without much thinking

they are good on lbry spreadcoin and zcash, not only zcash, you have 3 option, plus nexus probably

btw a 1080 can do 400k satoshi per day, one 480 can only do 250 at best with dual mining, but it's much better for density

If you're paying 460 for a 1070 you live in your own special little ecosystem that applies to almost no one else. Guessing EU prices (which should be specified)

'Density' only matters so much dude. Not sure how much you pay for your miners, but rigs I put together cost about $200 in total.

A 480 is currently earning $2.8 mining Eth+Dcr a 1070 earns $3 mining Zcash in revenue. The 1070 uses a little less power, but power for me is $.1kwh, which means it costs a extra $.1 to run that 480. A 480 is about half the cost of a 1070. A third of a 1080. That means you can buy three for the price of a 1080 and it'll earn ~100% more.

Now even if you're worried about the extra $200, you'll make up for that in ~120 days (3x the systems). As I mentioned, Nvidia mining is dead. There is absolutely no reason to buy Nvidia right now especially considering there are all sorts of low power mods for 480s, which reduce the Eth power consumption to something like 80w. Too many people bought into Nvidia and price/performance ratios are all sorts of fucked up. There isn't really anything that Nvidia does THAT much better then AMD and earns a decent amount of money. Even if it's better, retarded AMD miners still hop on the coin (even though it's quite a bit more inferior then Eth+Dcr) and crash the difficulty, so it doesn't matter. I'm sure there are still plenty of AMDtards mining Zcash right now.

The only remotely competitive GPUs on Nvidias side right now are the 1060s. Earning twice as much per $ isn't even a argument. It's not like 20% more or something like that, it's 100% more. We'll have to wait and see if the new memory helps Nvidia out. The 1080s with faster memory have been announced (not sure on the release date), the 1060s should be on their way. I can appreciate that you guys are trying to find niches that makes Nvidia competitive, they just don't exist.

for the palit superjetstream the price is high just check yourself, like i said i was comparing specific model

two 480 consume much more than a single 1080 while performing 20% better only, i don't mine zcash with my nvidia, there are better profitable coins

i also buy everything new, and a new rig cost me 400 euro not 200...this include mobo ssd cpu ram psu and risers, not sure how you can find all these for just $200...

and btw you can't get USA price, here you need to pay for the customs, ebay isn't helping at all, it's easy to talk when you have newegg that sell everyhting for cheap, but this do not apply to everyone

US prices? We wish...
In my country(in EU) You have to add shipping, customs and 22% tax to item value and shipping.
Nothing to figure out.

he is talking out of his ass as usual

it's funny how USA users think that everyone have access to newegg price, no we can not get gpu that cheap, in europe a 1070 is 450 euro and a rx480(4gb) is 220 euro

now i see that in my amazon the palit 1080 cost only 80 euro more than the 1070, does it make sense for me to go for it instead of 1070? yes of course

something wrong on your side here, because i can't connect to your pool anymore with my baikal miner, the share i see are accepted on my side, but nothign is displayed on my dashboard

i can connect fine to suprnova for example

what address do you use and would be great if you check corresponding IP

EDIT: Also send me your user name

nevermind, something strange happened, and my user was changed, i don't know why maybe a bug in the webgui of the baikal miner, when you change to often the algo..., i changed it again to the correct one now it work

so when the hardfork or softfork for the block time will take place, wasn't at the 10753 block?

I guess it will happen once the new codebase is ready. Anyway, congrats to the team!!

10? wasn't the new reward around 2 per block with 5 min block time?
iirc the block time is still the same: 30min per block. It's the coins per block that reduce over time

Sunday update:

I am currently working on the block time and block size specifications. The block time is going to be rather short. This will allow fast opening/closing of Donar channels and keep the timelock resolution precise. Regarding block size, Bitcoin Unlimited has a nice approach. The main idea is to keep the ceiling open, which mitigates the lightning network failure mode. The equilibrium between block size and propagation of blocks will create a healthy fee market, unlike Bitcoin's forced approach. It then becomes important to economically disincentivize performing any kind of transaction flooding. I already have a couple of solutions in mind.

By the way, I think I will have something to show within the next couple of weeks. Also, I got some help setting up a new website. Keep an eye on it regarding any future coinswap deadlines and info. So make sure to bookmark it.

http://www.veltor.org

J.V.

This coin needs smaller block time. After block 10753 it will be good block time 5 min and just 2 veltors per block, so for 30 min will get the same amount of veltors but will help for Lightning Network and why Lightning Network when the block time is 30 min!!!  Huh

currently is 15 veltor for 30 min, 2 veltor for 5 min isn't the same, it's 12 for 30 min, so you get less

so what's this

5x1080 are faster than 6x1070, in fact 4x1080 are faster than 5x1070 ;-)

i get on zcash around the same, 2500 for 6 1070 and 2500 for 5 1080, isn't one 1080 500 on zcash?

spreadcoin also 11,3xx x 5 versus 9,3xx x 6, 56.5 vs 56, yes just 500kh/s faster here, not a real margin

I have a 1080  and I can do

160 watts at wall on kwatt meter  and hash  about 492h

do the numbers below  reflect at the wall numbers?

edit that is a software number used below  so it does not include the rig just the card.

try to increase your ram you can squeeze more hash without increase the wattage
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Well, well, well, now we know what Jihan Wu’s been up to. on: April 06, 2017, 05:52:27 AM
probably fake and it doesn't make sense, if anyone use that boost it's like they are doing nothing, and the result would be the same earnig as before

also the only boost you can get is by adding or having better hardware, via software there is no optimization that can be done anymore on the mining scene

just look at this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1843662.0, cgminer for bitcoin asic, is as optimized as it get there is no room for anything

Read here:
http://arxiv.org/pdf/1604.00575

if that was possible still the there is no advantage because everyone now would be able to use it, and if everyone has the 20% boost it's like they have only added more to the diff and earning will be the same as before

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-accepted-260000-stores-japan/

Over a quarter of a million stores in Japan could be accepting bitcoin by summer this year

this could be the reason why the price recovered, right now japan is basically backing up bitcoin by itself, chinese are known to be only manipulator and dumpers that care onyl about profit

in fact they didn't make any progress despite their market volume on trading, for accepting more bitcoin in online shop or phisical stores, they only accept it for miners

you can easily tell which country is greedy here and which not, and essentially any country that don't help bitcoin to progress as a currency of bitcoin is the former
