1701  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2017, 06:01:05 PM
I know nothing about the workings of the SEC - but is it normal practice to leave a decision so late after 3 years to mull it over ?

Is it possible that the ETF gets the go ahead by default ie. no formal decision given ? That way the SEC doesn't exactly give the ETF (or btc) a ringing endorsement, but let it through nonetheless. Kind of a win win situation for the SEC, if you see what I mean.

Could the final decision be that there is no decision ?

The SEC has run out of delays. If not denied by Monday 13 the BATS rule change that will allow COIN will be approved by default. Just monitor https://www.sec.gov/rules/sro/batsbzx.htm

Bitcoin used to be fun. Now with all this strife I am just really, really tired of the shitstorm.
1704  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 09, 2017, 09:56:43 PM
So if we hear nothing tomorrow can we relax over the weekend and resume being "on edge" Monday?

They can still say yay or nay Monday right?

If we don't hear anything by tomorrow then I consider it approved.

Unless the SEC is stupid and makes a denial on Mondays.... they are going to mislead SO many people into thinking it got approved because the official deadline was march 11.... people will be buying thinking it got approved by default only to get fucked on Monday when they finally come out and say.... oops, sorry for the late notice but denied! Aren't they supposed to protect people??

SEC is tasked to protect investors, not speculators. They do have until Monday 13 end of day to deny the BATS rule change which would make COIN possible. See the rules for deadlines.
1705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit (25.5%) vs Bitcoin Unlimited (25.2%) on: March 09, 2017, 08:28:56 PM
If Bitcoin forks into 2 chains.. it's over.. Sad

Why would that be the case ?  If it forks, we have two coins.  There are already more than 700 other coins out there.  What happens, of course, is that bitcoin then loses its "first mover advantage" and becomes "just another crypto currency".

If there is a hard fork the exchanges and online services have already spoken and said there will be both Bitcoin (BTC or XBT) and Bitcoin Unlimited (BTU or XBU) like they handled the Ethereum split.
1706  Economy / Services / Re: Is there any proper way to buy a phone numer with bitcoin? on: March 09, 2017, 06:44:08 PM
Just to confirm the SMS in some websites, or activate a new whatsapp or whatever?

Sometimes I want to register on a website, and I dont want to give them my damn phone number. Also sometimes for work reasons, I need to share my phone with some people I dont really trust, so I could write to them in whatsapp using a number I don't use.
Any ideas?

Really?  You're at fault and you set a very short window to claim.  There are probably only 4-5 people who have claimed at this point.  That's ridiculous!

Have you notified ALL of the owners?  How many have you contacted???  Are you ever going to release a number of coins affected???

At this point they are probably doing what their lawyers tell them to do.
1708  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Kialara Physical Bitcoins/HAVEN: Update on: March 09, 2017, 03:39:13 PM
Hi Max,

I just did a search for Kialara on Google and came up with "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt". Your robots.txt file contains:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

Did you intentionally mean to block Googlebot from crawling your website?

It works for me...  Huh

The usual robots.txt file leaves out the forward slash. If you change to:

User-agent: *
Disallow:

Your site and store will get better rank in Google and you can add a line of text you want to show up in Google searches. You can make the changes in Yoast SEO in the admin panel of your store. Edit the robots.txt in SEO > Tools and titles and metas in Homepage. Google loves Wordpress and WooCommerce; while everyone in the forum knows about Kialara you are missing out on new customers reaching your site through search.
1709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PLEASE HELP.. I sent a transaction with a 2.5 BTC transaction fee on: March 08, 2017, 11:55:25 PM
Your transaction was included in block 456363 by AntPool. Contact them and plead your case they might take pity on you and give you the fee back. Be nice as they are under no obligation to do so.
1710  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Parent? on: March 08, 2017, 07:24:11 PM
Hey guys, would appreciate the help. I'am new to bitcoins and am facing some problems with my Electrum transaction. Pretty much the same thing, I made a transaction 3 days ago, it said "unconfirmed parent" and money hasn't been transferred. The person receiving the transaction has said they can see the coins but not access it. Now the unconfirmed parent has gone and it say's "low fee". But I'm worried the bitcoins I transferred to my Electrum wallet never reached it in the first place as next to area that show's my balance it says "- unconfirmed" next to the amount. Plz help, is this only due to a low fee paid and where are my coins?

My transaction ID is: 3e2389fcd405897d41b0cca646bc04127fb215a45b515647bcbf8d84ca1097d3

Any Help would be Appreciated!

Don't spend from your wallet until all pending transactions are confirmed. That transaction should take about 6 hours to confirm. Enable dynamic fees and set the fee slider to high.
1711  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 08, 2017, 07:14:51 PM
Zerohedge is wrong there are no more delaying tactics by law the SEC can use, either deny COIN by close of business March 13 or let the rule change pass by default.
1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2.5 BTC Payment received 0 confirmation 24h passed. How to speed it up? on: March 08, 2017, 03:49:57 AM
You can always pay https://pushtx.btc.com/ to push the transaction through if you have the transaction ID.
1713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2.5 BTC Payment received 0 confirmation 24h passed. How to speed it up? on: March 08, 2017, 03:44:38 AM
Hi,

I have received a payment of 2.5 BTC from a client and he choosed the lowest fee ofc.

This the transaction.

Inputs and Outputs
Total Input   $ 3,068.75
Total Output   $ 3,067.88
Fees   $ 0.87
Fee per byte   50.462 sat/B
Estimated BTC Transacted   $ 3,057.28
Scripts   Show scripts & coinbase

How many days it may take to confirm?

Is there a chance it will fail and will go back to the sender?

Is there a chance I could pay by my own a higher fee to this transaction to get confirmed faster?

We really need that payment to be confirmed.

Thanks

Based on https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ should confirm within a day. You probably need to have a talk with your clients about using proper fees. Would need the txid to provide any more information.
1714  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info, please fix your fee calculator on: March 08, 2017, 12:02:56 AM
With the current transaction backlog, sending urgent transactions is currently (almost) impossible on your site.

You give no indication of the transaction size so I can't work out what fee to put myself, all I can do is take what you recommend, add some to it, ignore the warning that there is 'no need to spend this much' and then still sit waiting for 4+ hours for the damn thing to confirm.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr  Sad

Here endeth the rant.

I have been using both the newest Electrum and Trezor and both have dynamic fees, are doing a fine job of estimating fees. There is no reason to be using a POS web wallet like bc.info when the alternatives are so much better.
1715  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETF speculation: How has the SEC behaved in similar situations? on: March 07, 2017, 08:01:43 PM
This is all speculation remember. SEC takes insider trading very seriously and I really doubt anyone who knows the decision will leak it. Also only two commissioners at present so they actually may have not made up their minds yet since they have until the 13th to do so.

Gonna hit 1500 before any serious setbacks at this rate.

Watch $1380 Bitstamp as a possible short term high. Longer term $1800, $2800, $3800

I bet the 100,000 bits bar sells out today. Collecting Kialaras reminds me of Microtech knives back in the day. Works of art that appreciate and everyone who got in early made money.

The suites sold out fast. As soon as I heard of it I headed to the website and they were gone. Really sorry I missed that one but I did get one of the sets. The sets are not sold out yet.

I have 2 Adam Smiths and 2 Jean D'Arcs purchased in August 2015.

One of the Adam Smiths has been compromised.

18maxv3kVNNKUE9NZhcYcfHhcRrtSXC8eE

The others remain funded.  This implies that the perpetrator has either not raided all the coins or else had limited access to the private keys to a batch of Adam Smiths.  I have sent Richard the batch number of the breached and intact coins which may help in identifying the timeline of when / who was involved.

The affected coin number is 113/600 but my 118/600 was not affected in the 26/2/17 theft.

Resale market just dropped to zero. And how can you be sure the balance on your other coins will still be there tomorrow? I would get the bitcoin safe and call it a day.
