This is cross language plagarism, what caught my attention is some "Russian heading" in full English post. So you have to translate this website to english to see the proof.

This is an interesting find. How about deleting accounts with no activity for years ?
Its probably not needed. I don't see any real benefit other than space, but I don't think that's too much of a problem for theymos. I guess it does skew the forum statistics a little bit, but I don't think that justifies it. I don't really see too many benefits of doing it.

Maybe, later down the line things will change, and theymos will start pruning old accounts, but I think I remember this being discussed before, and it was ruled out for a few reasons. I can't seem to find that thread though.

@Welsh
Not sure but are you referring to the below thread?

1724  Other / Meta / Re: My cMerits project is just finding plagiarists and bounty spammers. on: July 27, 2018, 01:46:02 PM
Once Actmyname created a Merit review Service in which  Actmyname  review the last 20 post to award merit.
I can suggest same to you as you do not need to go for hunt yourself but user will report in that thread.
You can create some sort of rules and guideline in that thread for participants.
1725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as the preferred form of Money? Sparring Debate on: July 26, 2018, 07:19:37 PM
I agree the benefits of Bitcoin but still can I use it as form of payment?

This answer will depend upon my geographic location/ country. In any case, I would not want to be in middle of legal trouble for using it, if country laws are against it. No doubt bitcoin payment method is better that's why it has held his place without any advertisement and Central Authority.

But Granting/Accepting  Bitcoin as a currency is a big blow to all the corrupt governments. Even Non Corrupt government will see as encroachment to their power .

Only few progressive government  can accept it.

1727  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary ban, permaban, nuke, what are reasons? on: July 26, 2018, 05:35:23 PM
doxing people outside investigations board
What is considered as doxing here?
Everyone is posting their facebook accounts in altcoin section. Is it doxing if someone post that information and all personal information from facebook? I mean, they are basically doxing themselves.  Undecided

I think all the twitter and facebook are also fake there. For each bitcointalk account , they might be having one dedicated (off course all fake) Twitter account, mail account and facebook account.

Might be the reason that facebook and twitter banned crytpos related ads, I think actually these profiles are just promoting ICO and these big corporation have no information to extract from them for their benefit.
1728  Other / Meta / Re: how much merit has been give to the merit source in a month ??? on: July 26, 2018, 02:39:00 PM
There is any limit or any calculation for merit source. How much smerit, they get for distribution ??.

There are 83 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 19100 sMerit per 30 days  (From Forum Merit stats)

Is it same for all the merit source or different according to the rank of merit source ?? and if some get the status of merit source once, that can be reverted if he has been caught for abusing his status Huh

It will be different for each source I guess. Do not worry about abusing the status as Theymos did not picked them up in random selection.
I think Theymos might did not make the data public but he might check it. Anyways there are so many vigilant member in forum that will definitely find the abuse.

Any way , what is the purpose of your question? Do you have any suspects?

No, Please do not be eager to share if nobody requested advice in that topic.
Make sure, if you share then it should be original ( no copy -paste)
Still you decided to share the other work then do not forget to cite the reference.

Basically, I am here to socialize, learn stuff about cryptos and probably conduct businesses (hopefully).

Below is the correct board for doing business  (+ Child Boards)

What is that single, best advice you would give to a crypto noob?
Follow the forum rules, invest sensibly (Time or Money).

Repeat above cycle Cheesy

Post and then learn.
Don't you think order is wrong?
1730  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let me give you the first Merit in this forum. (Challenge ques 2) on: July 26, 2018, 05:09:39 AM

Answer to challenge question 1.

If you found somebody copy pasting or plagiarizing then report the user in below thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.0

By seeing some of the reports there you will get idea how to file the report.

For archiving the post you can use the site "https://archive.fo/"

Make sure  to check  the user status in "https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php"  (use Ctrl+F to search ) after 1 or 2 days to check if user is banned.
If user is banned then update your post with "Banned" in front of the username.

PS: Actually , you should check modlog.php first, before you start creating a report to check if user is banned already.

1732  Other / Meta / Re: Should merit system really exist? on: July 25, 2018, 07:06:55 PM
I have been writing meaningful and good quality posts since start of my journey on bitcointalk forum, but i have noticed that i have still not received appropriate number of merits. whereas some people are receiving merits for posting useless and meaningless posts because they have high position in the forum. According to me merit system is a bit partial and changes must be made to it. Only devs and admins should have smerit and they should reward it to the people making appropriate posts. Please let me know your views below. No hard feelings for anyone  Smiley

I can categorize post in three category :
1. Shit /spam post
2. Average (may be some below or some above average post)
3. Good post.

What ever the objective of this system , but it acted as a silent killer for average poster (category 2).

I just did the quick glance and might be you also fall in Category 2.

PS : Don't worry, be happy and continue what is close to your heart or you are good at. Don't try to fake yourself so that you can get some merits but do not break forum rules.
1733  Other / Meta / Re: Is it time for members to take responsibility for their own threads on: July 25, 2018, 03:39:19 PM
It is good and bad idea at a same time.

Places where it act as "GOOD" idea.

I saw sometime people ask for information and create thread and in their created thread some people just write very vague sentences  that do not solve the OP Problem or sometime they just rephrase all the information from 2-3 replies without actually adding anything in discussion. SMART help me to remove all the low quality as well as redundant replies.(I am not sure "Report To Moderator" is effective against redundant replies as technically it is not a low quality post.)

Places where it act as "BAD" idea.
For discussion to be healthy , everybody should present his view and in the end we can get into the conclusion in the end. Using self Moderated thread did not guarantee that if some of the views are not deleted by OP and whole new stream of discussion is just killed.

As far "SMART" is concerned:
Self Moderated + Merit reward , I will like to see how your thread goes but I suspect "Merit" word attract more spammers to the discussion and more work for you.

1734  Other / Meta / Re: BCT have gone a little QUIET. on: July 25, 2018, 06:32:53 AM
Forum is not quieter but the way of communication in this forum changed.
I think in real "Merit" make the spam problem more worse. Earlier it is the spam that you can directly ignore.
Now the forum has "Merit" quality spam also in which people are creatinf some technical discussion thread without actually identifying the target audience and remind be below joke and the highlighted line.

*************************
A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications qquipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to fly to the airport. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign, and held it in the helicopter's window. The pilot's sign said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign and held it in a building window. Their sign read: "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER." The pilot smiled, waved, looked at her map, determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport, and landed safely. After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The pilot responded "I knew that had to be the Microsoft building because, like their technical support, online help and product documentation, the response they gave me was technically correct, but completely useless."

1735  Other / Meta / Re: Lets talk Bitcointalk on: July 25, 2018, 05:56:06 AM
On May 19th my Bitcointalk account was compromised via bruteforce, However it wasn't until July 9th 2018 that i found out as i'm not very active on the forum.
What surprised me about this situation wasn't that i was hacked but rather how EASY Bitcointalk made it for the "hacker", I'll elaborate.

Why does Bitcointalk offer NO security when it comes to its users accounts?

Since the beginning of the internet websites have always required the account-holder to verify ANY major changes to an account ie; password change, email etc.
Apparently Bitcointalk doesn't seem to require any verification of account changes, I mean sure we have the option to lock the account within 15-days of the changes happening
but that doesn't do much in my case or in the case of any casual member of the forum who doesn't realize until weeks after the fact.

See: https://gyazo.com/5a2dd6d9504e4af5acd5e0450edd0869

Your account recovery process is trash, Why?

I contacted Theymos on July 9th explaining what happened and how the hacker was attempting to scam the community via an ICO crowdsale, Received no response so i then reached out to Cyrus and still have not heard from either of the forum admins 2+ weeks later.

I'm aware i'm not the only one whom this has happened and it isn't as if my account was Hero/Legend status but when someone is attempting to scam your community and you as an admin are given weeks heads-up notice and don't even bother to read the message, Its concerning for the forum overall. I'm a member of several larger internet boards and they don't really seem to have this problem so what are the admins of Bitcointalk doing?

Recovery Method?

So in order to recover a stolen account we must supply admins with Bitcoin Address or PGP Key related to the account, EXCEPT none of which was REQUIRED upon signing up.
Why not make it clear to members that they MUST supply a wallet address or PGP key and/or store it somewhere as backup incase they're compromised?

In my case i used hundreds of different wallet addresses and never PGP signed my account that i recall.

With all the posts about accounts being compromised you'd think that there would be an urgency of sort to assist users of the community, Instead the entire procedure and account safety features seem rather moot.

OP  , you can put a good heading for this topic .

Anyways , look like that forum policy  makes hacking favorable.  Instead of asking user to confirm the change email in the current email , they are changing  the email and asking the original user to lock its own account.

No body knows how much time recovery takes.

Admins, should not allow change of email and passwords until it is confirmed on original/current email associated with the account.
1736  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let me give you the first Merit in this forum. (Challenge ques 1) on: July 25, 2018, 05:27:19 AM
Not all people responded but I will still proceed with my second question.

In which case we should use "Report To Moderator" or report post.
1737  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let me give you the first Merit in this forum. (Challenge ques 1) on: July 25, 2018, 05:24:40 AM
Since I am Russian user, I found in our local (Russian) this topic. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2775292.0 I read the reviews on the forum-ambiguous)))) But the rules are the rules, and they must be observed.

I can inform you about plagiarism here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.0  Here in the text, it is clear that it is necessary to specify that it was clear that the copy and that the original, and from where I took it.

I'm a bit confused, do you want to answer here or send you a PM from now on?

As for the challenge question>

Challenge Ques 1. What you will do If you find somebody copy pasted the article here from some other site or copied others post from this site?

The answer is is quite simple because plagiarism isn't helping anyone.
So I would just report the post if it's a copied post from someone else but if it's a quoted message, from this forum or some other site, then there is no need to report anyone because he's just making his point clear by including somebody else's opinion.

quoted all response.
1738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best place gives the best interest for lending bitcoin with the least risks? on: July 23, 2018, 07:00:38 PM
What about lending bots? Which exchanges are best for rates and which bots are the best?

Why do not you try to lend someone in this forum.

I do not know but you can try lending to some trusted lender here, might be he/she will be happy to get some capital and in turn give you interest and you will not have any hassle of running the lending service on your own.

I do not like a idea dealing with a people linked in website only. At least this forum work on collateral principle.

Check out https://www.bitbond.com/?a=4C3CPDF52X they're one of the more popular and legitimate p2p lending platforms
1739  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOINTALK (BTALK) Tokens? || Wait what?? on: July 23, 2018, 06:27:50 PM
It is and will always be.

I found the token a few weeks back in my ethereum wallet and was not surprised. There are hundreds of shitcoin airdrops happening in the forum and shitposters go around the altcoin section spamming for them with bent knees and open palms to receive these shittokens (Thats a whole lot of shit).

Anyway this idea was conceived by a bunch of people here when merit was first introduced. Not going to lie - be cautious before buying/selling this token on any exchange. Lets not have any newbies fall prey of PnD schemes.

This token will never get listed on any exchange as it was founded by a nobody (no offense) and has no purpose or team behind it.
And anyone can get this token for free though just send that 0 eth transaction to the contract address. But not sure why anyone would want this coin in the first place since its not even affiliated with the forum.

Might be collection for their MEW wallets. You do not know if somebody have developed hobby of collecting crypto currencies token.

Anyway it is better to lock this thread.
