1745  Economy / Economics / Re: Watch "Can Bitcoin Save the Post Office?" on: April 23, 2014, 07:45:22 AM
The time they get their act together they'll be years behind the technology and once again obsolete. USPS needs to go bankrupt.
1746  Economy / Economics / Re: What is bitcoin for? on: April 23, 2014, 07:39:30 AM
It started out as the worlds first meme coin which I think is fascinating. A lot of bitcoiners irrationally hate alt coins.
1747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: US based exchanges on: April 23, 2014, 07:38:37 AM
Exactly. This also leads to the effect where people can't easily sign up for a new exchange. It would take 30 days to get verified, and I know personally I wouldn't want to sign up for a small exchange
1748  Economy / Economics / Re: Seized coins sale on: April 23, 2014, 07:36:09 AM
Yes. Jurisdiction is a complex issue in cases like this, but the US government has jurisdiction over things occurring within their borders.

1751  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying stocks with Bitcoin profits on: April 23, 2014, 07:25:10 AM
Just imagine all of the first graders now could never know paper money... They could all start learning how to price thing in bitcoin now. It will be harder on the older generations though. Mentally translating bitcoin product prices into old currencies.

Claiming that "some hacker" took your funds, is a classic Bitcoin scam method.
1753  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the economies driving the growth of Bitcoin? on: April 23, 2014, 07:02:40 AM
This is very well explained, and used very easily understood analogies. Thinking of the fact that, Bitcoins are valued by supply and demand that there is still a relatively fair demand for it.
1754  Economy / Economics / Re: Ideas for more efficient distribution of money? on: April 23, 2014, 06:57:42 AM
Maybe active traders find passive trading too boring. They need the thrill of the hunt. Or maybe they just have some extra time and money to burn.
1755  Economy / Economics / Re: Is this the reason Bitcoin is going down today? on: April 23, 2014, 06:48:01 AM
In my opinon, before the wealthy hide their money in bitcoins, bitcoins need to be able to accommodate the volume they will need. Isn't a short a promise to provide Bitcoin at a later date for a lower price.
1756  Economy / Economics / Re: This is what really happened to Bitcoin in China on: April 23, 2014, 06:38:08 AM
I think all Chinese bitcoin owners are trying to sell all they have and get their money out of the platform, if they don't have a foreign bank account. As far as I know, very few Chinese people have foreign accounts
1757  Economy / Economics / Re: Mining USD? on: April 23, 2014, 06:37:10 AM
I use the low usage preset in GUIMiner Scrypt. The high usage makes me uncomfortable with the way it makes my entire system hang for 2-3 seconds at a time.
1758  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin-DUMP IT! on: April 23, 2014, 06:36:16 AM
I'd keep the in-game transactions off the blockchain. There's no need to spam the bitcoin network with that since you're in control of the coins entirely at that point.
1759  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is to people what the internet is to computers. on: April 23, 2014, 06:33:18 AM
