181  Economy / Services / Re: WTS Demonoid Accounts - 23BTC for 23 Accounts! - 60% OFF! on: August 18, 2012, 08:13:02 AM
Can I sell my demonoid account too just send me whatever amount you like to my address

Yawn. Demonoid has shut down. Don't try to convince people to buy accounts for a nonexistent site; that's scamming.
182  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund (closed to new accounts) on: August 18, 2012, 08:10:37 AM
I would like to preemptively register my interest in Kraken #2, assuming Kraken #2 is of similar nature to Kraken #1.
183  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: August 18, 2012, 08:08:41 AM
That's ok - I thought it wise to make a post over in the Starfish thread.

The September reference was to something else, but that's not compounding, and version #1 is currently closed.  Kraken#2 will be September.

Yeah, that part I understood. I just noticed that you did not mention Starfish BCB when asked about compounding interest opportunities, hence my question. Thanks for explaining.
184  Economy / Services / Re: Freelance coder: 1BTC / h [Python, PHP] on: August 18, 2012, 08:06:31 AM
Why are you offering to work for next to nothing? No professional experience?

Since when is $12-13 an hour "next to nothing"?
185  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: August 18, 2012, 07:56:06 AM
Hmm? Is Starfish BCB closed?

What an odd question.

It's taken a few hits today, but still operating quite happily.

Eskimo asked about compounding interest opportunities that you provided, and you stated that he would have to wait until September.

Unless I misread your thread, Starfish BCB gives 1% per week automatically compounding interest:

Deposits
PM me for a deposit address - this will be your unique account address.  You also need to provide a repayment address.

Deposits will pay 1.0% per week and compound by default.  Calculation is 1.010^(#days/7)

That's why I asked, my apologies for the lack of clarity.
186  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: August 18, 2012, 07:05:38 AM
How about PPT.D? It should mature in a few minutes...

PPT.D will be paid in approximately 59 minutes - the funds have been sitting there for a while.

Everything looks good. Thank you PatrickHarnett.
My favorite zeros are gone for good. Now what? Smiley
I need to find my coins a new home where they can earn interest. I am not trading those so they can stay put for extended time. PatrickHarnett, if you have something with dividend reinvestment plan, let me know.

Cheers!

Actually, due to a simple "refresh" issue the buyback was about 9 minutes past the hour.  Three more buybacks and a couple of Div payments to make.

As for future, you'll have to wait for Kraken Fund #2 to open for availability in September.

Hmm? Is Starfish BCB closed?
187  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BullShit Trust. It is the beginning of the end. on: August 17, 2012, 06:21:57 AM
Coins gone for three hours - THE PONZI IS COLLAPSING! THE END IS NIGH!

Perfectly logical.
188  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN SAVINGS & TRUST - Just when you thought Bitcoin was instant.... on: August 17, 2012, 06:20:00 AM
what does your avatar mean? I don't get it.

Best I can figure it's "I love nevadacat"  or maybe "I love albertacat"

I would guess otherwise, based on the, erm, usual poignancy of character Bitlane shows. Somehow I doubt the third symbol represents a state or province...

Bitlane, I see two possibilities here:

  • BS&T is finally collapsing as so many have feared. You have somehow been the first to discover it.
  • Pirate is asleep, not at his computer, or otherwise occupied. (What, people have lives apart from Bitcoin?)

I'm not going to judge as to the probability of either of those possibilities, but one thing is true in either case - bitching about it isn't going to do anything whatsoever.

And in regards to service thread locking, there is this magical, mystical, mysterious button labeled "New Topic". Confusing, I know, but you seem to have figured it out. It's revolutionary - you can fume all you want and those of us who want to keep track of happenings without reading twenty pages of utter crap can read the service thread.
189  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 17, 2012, 06:02:43 AM
Beware of highly respected members of this board even more than noobs. History shows that this board affords a lot of respect to high profile scammers. The larger the scam the higher "respect" and "fucking respect" their operators have commanded at the time right before those scams unravelling.

Condemning someone for participation seems a little misguided. Perhaps a better way to phrase it would be "don't equate post count or time here to legitimacy".
190  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 17, 2012, 01:16:36 AM
It's in reference to Patrick from Bitcoinica on an irc chat demanding he gets some "fucking respect", kind of a bitcoin pop culture/meme thing now.

Ah, thanks Nefario.
191  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 16, 2012, 05:45:00 PM
That would be pretty weird if having a low post count caused people to be scammers. Although I could see having a high post count keeping someone honest at the margin, not wanting to tarnish a reputation. So there could be some causation going on.

But one could also hypothesize that a scammer might intentionally gain high post counts in order to convince users of his legitimacy. It all really depends on how much value we put on post counts. I would advocate none or very little, because many users with high post counts contribute very little, and many with low post counts contribute quite a bit. In the end, it comes down to personal judgement. No one single metric can judge whether or not a user is a scammer, post count included.
192  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 16, 2012, 04:05:38 AM
I was mostly referencing their possible scam listing also https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=100800.0

Sorry if I dont give them "fucking respect".

Who are you quoting? No one except you has used that term in this thread.
193  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 16, 2012, 03:55:22 AM
I concur with advising caution, but post count is not necessarily indicative of validity. Correlation does not imply causation.

Question: If someone does not initially purchase 5000 shares, but later obtains that amount, would they become a board member?
195  Economy / Securities / Re: HEMP ? on: August 15, 2012, 05:45:05 PM
If I cared what the media thought I wouldnt use bitcoin.
Industrial Hemp /= Marijuana.

Whether you care or not is irrelevant. The media will care, and the media affects who decides to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon, which affects you, like it or not. I agree that the media is often wrong and not necessarily beneficial as a whole, but that doesn't change the impact it has.
196  Economy / Securities / Re: HEMP ? on: August 15, 2012, 01:04:27 AM
Are people that brainwashed they cant tell the difference between hemp fibre and the plant that supplies THC ? You would need to smoke an entire field of hemp to get even a slight buzz.

The world would be a lot different if paper barons hadnt lobbied politicians to run a smear campaign.

Regardless of permits, legality, or morality, the last thing Bitcoin needs is more drug-related press. Please, whatever you do or do not do, keep it low-key.

My point exactly. I do not know what you plan to do, nor do I care, but if the media catches wind, they will.
197  Economy / Securities / Re: Imsaguy's PPT @ 7% on: August 14, 2012, 11:07:23 PM
It's not mentioned on the public thread, and somehow I don't suspect Pirate maintains a secret higher-interest section.
Link to public thread plz?

Here.

199  Economy / Securities / Re: Imsaguy's PPT @ 7% on: August 14, 2012, 11:02:24 PM
7%... now 5%
Was the 7% tier eliminated completely, or did Pirate just raise the eligibility threshold?

Gone completely AFAIK

It's not mentioned on the public thread, and somehow I don't suspect Pirate maintains a secret higher-interest section.
200  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] [YARR] Pirate has lowered his rates. NEWS INSIDE on: August 14, 2012, 11:01:27 PM
*(there has been no official announcement that I can find but rumor has it at 5%.)

Hmm? There has been an official announcement, unless you don't consider the BS&T thread official...
