181  Other / Meta / Re: removing sig.campaign? on: October 04, 2018, 07:21:36 AM
Firstly, I believe signature campaigns provide traffic on the platform. Which is of commercial benefit to the forum.
Theymos already introduced the '1 merit system' to stop the abuse of multiple accounts  which is the real problem, not signature campaigns. And I'm sure we can all witness improvements in the forum and reduction of spam over the past few days.

Just concentrate on contributing qualitatively on the forum. If there is need for further modifications to improve the forum, without affecting any vital part.  I am sure it would be done.

And you are wearing a signature, so aren't you part of the problem you are complaining about?
182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can justice be served better when the judiciary system Is established on a block on: October 03, 2018, 02:30:36 PM
I don't think I would say the problem is record keeping. Computers have solved the problem of storage of important files and documents.
What the blockchain technology can offer is transparency and accessibility.

And many ICOs these days are quick to identify the blockchain as the solution to all problems, which it isn't.
183  Other / Meta / Upvote on: September 30, 2018, 05:49:07 PM
Could there be an option to upvote or like a post made by a user, if you are in agreement with it?
It's against forum rules to post little sentenceos commending a post. So an upvote option to show your approval can help to track the general opinion of a post.

The system could also lead users to useful, quality post, generally approved by the community. And it can also aid merit sources in finding quality content on the forum.

What's your say?
184  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Expansion on: September 30, 2018, 06:10:01 AM
- I can't personally say we need an entertainment section, and this would fit into the off topic section as it has nothing to do with cryptocurrency.

- There is a gambling board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0

- I don't know if I would refer to the serious discussionboard as a VIP section, but there is a level of restrictions there. This can of course be considered by the mods.

If you have a country or region with a huge community, you can always petition to have a local board created.

There is an option to donate to the forum at the top menu option. But none for donations to regions or places hit by disasters. The team can of course consider it.

I don't know if an expansion cause most users currently hardly utilize the full boards and child boards, and post in inappropriate sections. We might need to fully explore our environment before expanding.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Seeking suggestion for new ICO for trading exchange platform. on: September 30, 2018, 06:03:25 AM

Deflationary model like BNB ? They buy back their defined number of tokens quarterly, thus decreasing total circulation.

Binance model of setting apart 20% of revenue quarterly for buy back is a very shrewd strategy and has worked out, as evident in the price. It is only for a period until 50% of circulating supply is burned. By this time your project should have gotten a degree of stability.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Seeking suggestion for new ICO for trading exchange platform. on: September 29, 2018, 09:56:12 PM
You can introduce master nodes and staking (pOS algorithm). This would encourage token holders to Hodl
The actual driving force is the quality of the project. Investors would not be too worried about a drop after listing. Especially in the current market situation. And they would be encouraged to hold a currency with potential, regardless the algorithm used.
So work on the product development, as that is the primary objective.

Also, since you mentioned you're working on a trading platform, you can consider a deflationary model, i.e biting token used to fuel the platform, so if a user uses the token for transaction fees maybe, it doesn't go back I to circulation. This reduces the supply and could have a positive effect on the value.

Hello,

(Mod : If this post is more suited in any other forum, please move and forgive my ignorance)

I believe this thread is most suited for altcoin discussion.
You have an option to move topic, check the bottom left of the thread.
Good luck!
187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to the forum? on: September 29, 2018, 09:38:48 PM

NOTE: There are tips for almost every topic; how to get merits? How not to get merits? Ranking system? Help? Just input the keyword in the search box, at the top right.

I think it is sad that the first three topics you mention are the least important, and are related to the activities that were destroying the forum.
You don't join the forum to get merits and achieve rank, and you only need those if you intend to leech off the efforts of the crypto-enthusiasts here.

Search for help of course, and use the forum to learn about Bitcoin and the crypto economy. Please don't start to spam your signature until you know enough to decide what you should be promoting. If you start off by promting a scam, you could tarnish your account for a few years.

I used tbose because a new user would likely be curious to know more about how the forum works and details on profiles. Of course there are other quality topics a user can search on and the community is always there to help out.
And an ideal user is here to contribute and learn from the community, but tbose topics I believe would be an of initial interest.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A big movement by a Big exchange in INDIA on: September 28, 2018, 04:16:29 PM
Cryptocurrency is getting more popular in India, but gov't restrictions is hindering it's growth.
A nation with high poverty rate, should promote interest in knowledge and technology. And the ernormous potential in the blockchain technology should be utilized.
This most times is the difference between prosperous states and not so prosperous states.
189  Other / Meta / Re: 1 merit source in every Local Boards, Is it Possible? on: September 28, 2018, 08:33:26 AM
If possible there should be a merit source in every board. There are about 36 merit source now I think.

Scrolling through other sections, you could come across good posts, which just gets lost in the spam, and this leads to users flooding the meta section to get noticed.
And then there are complaints about that, but majority of users are unwilling to go through mega threads or other sections to search for quality posts. So a merit source would help. As it has been doing of course, but more effort would be appreciated.

But merit source don't help much if members on local boards only want to participate on forum because merit or/and don't want try make constructive posts.

Everyone wants to be appreciated for good work. That's like saying students go to school for grades and not to learn, they both work together, same with the merit system.
Without quality posts, you can't rank up, no matter what your motive in the forum is.
190  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos should consider guidelines for bounty managers. (Here is draft) on: September 28, 2018, 08:17:40 AM
I think it would be better to apply stricter moderation in bounty and ANN section.
Also instead of submitting reports, BM could directly track users post through their profile (I think a few do this). It would reduce mega threads and pyramid posts.
We have to accept that as long as there are bounties spam will come with the traffic it generates.
The new merit system is helping curb that.
191  Other / Meta / Re: Controlling Spam on: September 27, 2018, 06:06:40 PM
I suspected, it would have been deliberated already. Was just considering newbies like me who rarely see such posts, and I was wondering if it could be posted as a sticky or in other ways encouraged.
This thread is redundant. And locked.
192  Other / Meta / Controlling Spam on: September 27, 2018, 04:31:28 PM
As a suggestion could we encourage users to self moderate their topics to help reduce spam. I've come across only a few self moderated topics, and I feel it would help keep the forum free of spam, if each user closely watches his/her threads.

When posting (starting a new topic), below the subject, to the left, there is an icon, Additional Options click on it and then the option to self moderate.

You can control the thread, and close it once your query is answered or the discussion has reached a sort of conclusion (closing a thread can be done without self moderating)

NOTE: a thread can't be edited to self moderate once it has been posted.
193  Other / Beginners & Help / New to the forum? on: September 27, 2018, 12:32:43 PM
I would firstly like to welcome you to the forum!??

This is the top destination for cryptocurrency enthusiasts who wish to broaden their knowledge and and join a community with similar interests.
This translates to a large influx of people, the current average being approximately 441 new users per day.

After registering, Now, what next?

- There is a mountain of data, threads, topics and replies. But a new user should first familiarize with the forums rules and guidelines. Endeavour to check for sticky threads on the different boards, and read through them. I could suggest some helpful threads, but we should all read through ourselves as this makes one learn faster and more efficiently.
To get the best out of this community, form the habit of reading. It would spare us all a lot of redundant complaints and queries.

NOTE: There are tips for almost every topic; how to get merits? How not to get merits? Ranking system? Help? Just input the keyword in the search box, at the top right. And always feel free to ask, as the community is always there to help out.

- Do Your Own Research; all contributions on this forum are opinions of others and not facts. Always verify any information gotten, before moving forward with it.

- Quality and helpful contributions is the primary goal; any other personal motive for joining here is secondary. And can also be combined conviniently with helpful contributions.
It would be hasten our personal growth in cryptocurrency, and also the growth of the forum.
Good luck!
194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't run a scam/useless ICO by legit team? on: September 27, 2018, 06:03:16 AM
Scam ICOs is one of the reasons why regulations is necessary.

Posting pictures or videos of the team doesn't stop them from exiting with the funds raised.
I think a renowned, credible person in the team, and an expert in that field can help, as he/she has a reputation to lose. But it can be a faked identity also.
The safest option now is avoiding ICOs.
195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitart's post review topic for newbies to help them earn 1 or max. 2 merits on: September 26, 2018, 07:57:51 AM

3.) You have at least 5 quality posts in Bitcoin section  (posts in Altcoin section, Off topic, Local, etc... doesn't count, because this is a Bitcoin forum)

I understand that this is a bitcoin forum, but the forum also makes those other boards available for people to discuss, and isolating those boards would reduce the quality of post there (as our more knowledgeable users would be discouraged from posting there, since no one sees it) and the spam mega threads would be all that's left.

We want (I believe we all do) our forum to have quality interactions in all boards. And I think  rewarding the little quality in those boards in the sea of spam would encourage that.
196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Market dynamics on: September 25, 2018, 12:08:13 PM

Avoid speculations:most people trade only out of vague expectations or will I call it hope, this network has risen far above faceless speculations except of course one is a soothsayer, excitements such as that more often than not leads to crashes and huge loses incured

I would not refer to speculation as vague expectations. Speculation is to make an inference based on inconclusive evidence, And that's the basic of trading and investing in cryptocurrencies. Except you are a whale, you have no influence on future situations and can only analyse (technically and foundamentallt) and predict.

Peer influence:this plays a particularly large role in trading, though on a small scale, much of peer influence trading is more or less a speculative one,as they are actually hoping not to miss out in the next "bitcoin rise"..so most times decisions taken are usually correlated to those of their peers..

That's right. Make decisions based on your research and conclusions, you can consider opinions of others when reaching a conclusion, but don't take recommendations and suggestions, even from crypto influencers. Always DYOR.
197  Economy / Reputation / Re: Neg trust appeal on: September 25, 2018, 10:21:13 AM
This trust issue has not always been down with me.
I have a couple of times contemplated reporting a post or a user but what if out of spite I get a retaliatory neg trust?
198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask me any questions about Bitcoin Talk and posting on: September 25, 2018, 07:49:10 AM

Okay. But I don't understand is why the multiple account is not banned here.what is the purpuse of having multiple account for one person?. Can't they post valuable post with one account.?

People can use multiple accounts for different reasons, the main being entering different bounty campaigns with different accounts. Or a member might not want to join bounties with an account for whatever reason, and opens another for that purpose.
It is not encouraged, but it's not a violation of forum rules.

for long term I think new members will earn their first merit and will create new account and try to earn another one merit rather increasing membership jr.member to member.so I think need a rule for this .

If they can earn merit on one account, they can on another, and merit gifting to alt accounts is unethical and can earn one a red trust, so it's a risk most are not willing to take.
199  Other / Meta / Re: Admins, what do you think about creating a list of all scammers in Bounties on: September 25, 2018, 07:27:27 AM
You can report to the bounty manager and they can track them using their wallet address, (this must be theirs) and maybe track their submissions in previous campaigns using that wallet address.
It's also possible that they impersonated in previous campaigns as well. But if there was no report made by anyone, then maybe not.
200  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legalities of Bitcoin on: September 24, 2018, 12:05:57 PM
I think it's that the first world countries see the writing on the wall and don't want to lose out on a possible silicon valley 2. The lower list sees crypto as a challenge to their corruption and authority they don't want things to change and will keep it down.

China is an exception. The Chinese government is well aware of the potential in cryptocurrency, but want to utilize it indigenously.
I think that's why it created it's own digital currency.

Are those countries with certain circular/memorandum from their central bank regarding bitcoin and cryptocurrencies count as a form of 'legality' or even 'formality' in this case? If so, the Philippines would be one of them. Only recently, people have been receiving certain bans and suspension on their accounts on a prominent exchange due to the BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or the Central Bank of the Philippines) memo regarding fraud and anti-money laundering concerns. This particular publication expresses the BSP's concern regarding the rise of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, so the Philippines should somehow be on that list.
