182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Monero with CPU on: November 22, 2017, 01:09:04 PM
Hey Guys Im interested in possibly mining monero with my cpu on a laptop. I'm currently mining zoin but I heard you can mine monero as well with a cpu. Is it still possible to mine it and also does anyone know where I can find a how to guide for mining it with windows 10?

Thanks

You are most likely going to kill your laptop...it's not worth it. Build a "desktop" computer.

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: You can not be serious on: November 14, 2017, 09:23:31 PM
So I was all set to enter the alt coin markets before segwit2x.
Picked iota, vertcoin, walton, lisk, neo and binance...
And what happens, bloody fork canceled and my picks rocket up today by an average of 20%.
Now I am left with 15000 euros uninvested and wondering what to buy and when.
Gutted. Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

Timing can be a major factor, are you being true to yourself and were you ready to pull the trigger? This has happened to all of us, but a lot of times we are waiting and thinking about making our moves and the investment goes the way we wanted/expected...

Buying and then you have to deal with when to sell...short term/long term, we have all been there.

186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be too big to fail? on: November 14, 2017, 08:59:14 PM
After spending much time as a guest on this forum learning all I can about Bitcoin, I finally decided to join. Glad to be here and thanks for all the great advice along the way!

Now I have a question I'd like to ask. Is Bitcoin going to get to the point where it is too big to fail? The government bailed out Wall Street to avoid a financial collapse. Can Bitcoin gain the same status as Wall Street? The market cap is steadily increasing making it a big player in the game and I'm looking forward to where it is headed.

Thanks in advance!

The banks and the "too big to fail" is part of the reason bitcoin exists. Bitcoin is the opposite of the "too big to fail" way of thinking - it's to protect the people from the big bank philosophy.

I used my miners to heat a room in my basement...was great in the winter...okay in the other season.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Investing 100K in mining operation, which crypto to mine & hardware? on: November 13, 2017, 10:57:37 PM
If I was going to spend $100K

20 x Baikal x10 Miner -$30K
10 x 8 GPU 1080 TI rigs - $60K
5 x 8 GPU 1060 3GB Rigs - $10K

This would require 33kw steady state

180 amps @ 240

There are a bunch of threads covering this, of course, this is high risk; one thing to look at is if your money can make you more $$$ someplace else.

BUT

I agree with this post (more or less). Maybe look at AMD cards also, they are available now.

189  Other / Off-topic / Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 plus vs Note 8, which one to go for? on: November 13, 2017, 10:31:27 PM
I love my Note 8.

Note 8 is 6.3 -inches compared to 6.2 on the S8+
6gb of ram compared to 4gb on the S8+
Note 8 has dual 12mp cameras 1 with a telephoto lens compared to the single 12mp without a telephoto.
Note 8 also gets 33 hours of battery life compared to 24 hours on the S8+

plus you get a great pen.

Note 8 hands down is a better phone.

I'm quite keen on the note 8 as well, however I read that the battery is smaller? I figured the overlay would be around the same and the bigger screen might soak up more battery life? So mind linking your source for the "33 hours of battery life compared to 24 hours on the S8+" - i'd be keen to read that.

I've also read that the Note 8's battery last longer than the S8...I'll look for the article.

460 pages on a discussion about Flat Earth? Somebody has really gone over the rainbow here..

I figured they were writers for The Onion or maybe auditioning for a Russian troll farm job.
191  Other / Off-topic / Re: How a girl can move to Canada? on: November 13, 2017, 03:08:16 PM
Hello guys! I need your advices about moving to Canada or Netherlands.

I'm 21 y old girl, studying law and working distantly (bounty manager).

Can anybody tell me in which way can i move?

If I may ask, what county are you from? That might be a factor (although I am not an expert in immigration law).

Some countries have immigration lotteries and also, as a student, you can probably go anywhere you want - as long as you have the money for the university.

193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: November 13, 2017, 03:00:47 PM
give  btc-gold a big run  and   gpus will sell out again.

I think a lot of people are hoping (counting) on that to happen. Mining is still profitable but it getting tighter every day.

GPUs are also still selling at premium prices. NewEgg has a MSI RX580 4GB Gaming on sale for $239, which is still about $50 higher than it was when it was introduced.

Need a few more months of quiet before GPU prices return to normal levels, so if BTC Gold shakes things up, I agree that prices will skyrocket again.

Any rebates?

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to buy for a mining a rig/Just a GPU(graphics card) or? on: November 02, 2017, 01:47:03 PM
Greetings.

I am going to buy several GPU's (Graphics cards) soon and I am curious on how I shall go about assembling them. Do I need to buy anything else besides the GPU's? Keep in mind, I only have one laptop, HP - GT 740M, which isn't profitable at all.

And if possible, please do give me a several listing of set recommendations of GPU's that I should buy. Thank you!

Sincerely,
V.F

You need to build a whole computer, motherboard, cpu, etc

Look at Nvidia 1060, 1070, 1080 (and AMD cards (480/570/580), as well, if those are back in stock), and see what works for your budget and what you want to mine.

Okay, I'm feeding the trolls, but this is funny...

"CONSPHERECY: The heliocentric big bang deception perpetuated by psychopaths."

"GLOBARRHEA: The slipshod spewing of arguments against flat earth that are completely devoid of critical thought or research into the flat earth model."

"FEPE: Flat Earth People Everywhere. Most often represented visually by a meme-think illustration of an emperor penguin named FEPE."

I have the s8 but I don't like the curved screen. Nobody makes a case that can cover it completely

Otterbox is the best you can get, it's designed so if you lay it down on your desk - screen down, the screen doesn't touch the desk. You can also buy a "gorilla" glass screen protector...but all these protective items will run you close to another $100.
