1801  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin to the Moon on: March 05, 2013, 08:29:27 PM
My original investment was for a trip to the moon.  Well reality kicks in and maybe that is not so realistic.  But I would be willing to invest in "someone" from our Bitcoin community taking a trip to outer space on a SpaceX vehicle.  Is there anyone out there that would be willing to invest in a Bitcoin entrepreneur at least traveling to outer space with SpaceX?

The only reason I ask is because it is getting really feasible to travel to outer space.  If trust was the only issue, I know we have the resources and limited time to make this a groundbreaking reality.  Only caveat I require is that we use SpaceX vehicles.  If anyone is on the same page we need to start this now and maybe we can make happen as a community.  So, my initial thought with Bitcoin was to goto the moon.  Maybe not me, but i would help anyone that would be willing to if our community bands together.

C'mon you rich BTC fuckers I will take a trip to the moon if you fund it.  Can you imagine the consequences if Bitcoin funded a trip to the moon!  Can you imagine if a private company sent an individual to the moon.  Let's do this now, not later.

Any Ideas?

I'm with you man Smiley Best way to do it: save your BTC and then buy a ticket yourself in 20 years time when BTC value is much higher, and tickets to space are much cheaper Smiley By then we may well have a space elevator too. Goodbye gravity well - hello cosmos!

1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple: Why XRPs are superior to Bitcoins on: March 05, 2013, 04:56:29 PM
Thanks for posting this. Illuminating  Smiley

I'm still not sure how the info you provided proves that Ripple is superior to Bitcoin, but I liked the info, so cheers.
1805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple's Gone? on: March 05, 2013, 04:50:31 PM
If only ripples will go up to $40 each like bitcoin. :-)

My bet is that it will eventually happen in the future even if xrp value stays the same. At that point you probably won't want to convert anything to usd Wink

I'm still getting to grips with how Ripple works but it seems it complements Bitcoin well, very well Smiley
1806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it a good idea to buy Bitcoin now at $29? on: March 05, 2013, 04:47:41 PM
To OP: yes, it was a good idea.
1807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Google trend for bitcoin search on: March 05, 2013, 04:45:53 PM
I noticed that the graph on 'google trends' for the word 'bitcoin' is pretty high about now.

https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=bitcoin&date=today+12-m

The last position on the graph only represents 3 days of the current week where the other points represent a full week !

Nice! Expect it to get higher Smiley
1808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $50 this month. on: March 05, 2013, 03:55:08 PM
Yeah, the question is tricky, but still, at least two people should hold each part of the key, and they should not ever fly the same airplane Smiley Or better yet, bank vault account holder with a clear will about inheritance. I generally don't think a single human is reliable enough for any task, we are rather fragile.

Maybe a p2p articial intelligence based on Bitcoin technology could hold the keys for safe keeping?
1809  Economy / Services / Re: 3D printing for BTC on: March 05, 2013, 03:45:55 PM
The question is do you sell 3d printers for bitcoin  Shocked

Now that would be epic. Digital cryptocurrency leaking into the material world and manifesting any physical object on demand!

Refund has been sent, problem has been fixed. No first launch is perfect  Embarrassed. But we're back up.

Nice work

I think some Star Wars style music should play when the viewer gets on the website Smiley

1811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $50 this month. on: March 05, 2013, 02:41:17 PM
Yeah, $50 seems about right, following the trend from January and February.

Yes, but the real question is - when does it end? $100? $500? More?
1812  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Bitcoin Board Game on: March 05, 2013, 02:33:29 PM
This would be a great project to put on Kickstarter or similar (there was a bitcoinstarter.com but it's down at the moment) and get crowdfunding to get it done properly and all the contributors get a copy of the boardgame Smiley

Nice idea. I think I will actually do that.
But it would be best to collect the funds in Bitcoin, too.

I would have three financing stages depending on amount of funds coming in.

1.) Up to about $500
Just have some minor changes and make the game available for purchase on thegamecrafter.com

2.) up to about $2000
Have the graphics remade nicely by some professional graphical artists.
Publish on thegamecrafter.com in higher volume.

3.) over $2000 (approx.)
Like 2.) but have a larger printing run (ie. not necessarily on thegamecrafter.com), so that an individual game would cost less.

Would you be interested in this?

Bitcoinstarter.com was a Bitcoin crowdfunding platform. But the site's been down for a while Sad

I'd be interested but I think it's better to aim high - maybe look for a graphic designer to partner with?

I'd be interested if you partnered with a graphic designer and aimed for approx $2000 to make it awesome Smiley

I could even help with a website.

1816  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $50 this month. on: March 05, 2013, 11:46:54 AM
Seconded  Smiley

I don't really see how it can go down - Bitcoin seems to have evolved and many of the problems such as hackers taking off with very large chunks of BTC from exchanges and crashing prices seem to be a thing of the past ...

I agree with the $50 prediction. As for the hacking of exchanges, unfortunately as the price of bitcoin increases, so does the incentive to hack exchanges. So I think we are actually more likely to see exchange hacks/thefts/inside jobs in the coming weeks.

If you think about it, bitcoin itself is ridiculously simple to secure, though tedious.

These are good points. I just hope the key players have taken the necessary precautions.

WOW - this is awesome!

Would be really cool if you could see the BTC/USD exchange rate from all of the big exchanges on the same screen. Now that would make it ridiculously awesome Smiley
