He can't even spell Satoshi Nakamoto correctly (he spelt it Nakamote) which immediately makes me think he has done zero research.

Bitcoin is going from strength to strength these people should take a look at what is actually happening in the Bitcoin space!

EDIT: Ok I actually read the article and he has a point - we are valuing BTC against the USD and not independently, but I can imagine a few years where a BTC will be accepted for what it is both online and in stores - probably for about 1000 USD worth of goods and services Smiley

1627  Economy / Digital goods / UPDATED Selling ABITCO.IN and THELITECO.IN for BTC or LTC on: April 16, 2013, 04:26:00 PM
**Updated the price to 4 BTC**

I have the domain names abitco.in and theliteco.in for sale for BTC or LTC

Must be with namecheap so I can transfer it to your account.

Feel free to make your offers here or via PM.

I'm looking for about 4 BTC or equivalent in LTC for each domain, however I can be flexible so feel free to make me an offer via PM if you are interested.

Rare Bitcoin and Litecoin domains!

These domains are also on BitMit and elsewhere so I reserve the right to accept an offer from elsewhere if I haven't confirmed the price with you here and you haven't sent payment.

Thanks  Smiley

1629  Economy / Goods / BUYXRP.COM and RIPPLE-X.COM domain names for sale for BTC or LTC on: April 16, 2013, 02:39:16 PM
I have the domain names buyxrp.com and ripple-x.com

Must be with namecheap so I can transfer it to your account.

Feel free to make your offers here or via PM.

I'm looking for at least 12 BTC or equivalent in LTC for each domain.

If you think at least 12 BTC is over priced don't bother saying it in the thread - when Ripple launches properly these are premium, keyword rich domains!

These domains are also on BitMit and elsewhere so I reserve the right to accept an offer from elsewhere if I haven't confirmed the price with you here and you haven't sent payment.

Have fun  Smiley
1630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Windows Bounty Doubling on: April 16, 2013, 10:17:27 AM
The were no objections to the windows bounty doubling:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1776730#msg1776730

the original bounty is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1358839#msg1358839

so it is doubled from 6 shares to 12 shares. A 6 share bounty has been sent out to K1773R, so a top up of 6 will be sent. The remaining bounty is 6 shares.

The windows bundle works, the problem is that people are having difficulty installing it and getting it to bootstrap the receiver files. So the remaining windows bounty is now for improved installation and/or bootstrapping, maybe an installer could be made which installs devcoin-qt and devcoind, and makes copies over the receiver files to the correct place or something like that. There's no point in making another windows devcoin exe, since that part already works.

I might give a proper windows installer a shot.
tell me if you do it so i wont waste time Wink up to you for now.

Well, I'll have to reinstall Windows on a junk hard disk first. I found your build to be great. It just isn't quite idiot proof enough for most Windows users. It isn't their fault though, they have just been trained to expect the wrong result since 3.1

One of you guys please make the windows installer! It will really help make Devcoin more accessible to a much wider audience Smiley
1631  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin Is Going to Succeed: The Reason Nobody Is Talking About on: April 15, 2013, 11:43:52 AM
Also we will include that mining is necessary energy expense to maintain the integrity of the Bitcoin network and to make it function at all!

Will it also answer the question of who is paying for this expense?

I don't know sufficient amount of macro economics to give real answer. But likely at somepoint the cost of mining is near equivalent to gains of minings as coins. So as many coins are spend for mining as are gained from it. Who exactly ends up losing in this case. In any case it's rather lot of waste...

Computers are getting more efficient (using less power), and in the future who knows next gen solar panels installed in the home may supply most power for next to nothing so what you have argued above is very short sighted imho, as it doesn't take into account advances in technology.

I agree,

I really like this post, seems the people are fighting back against the missinformation.

 http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/04/mining-bitcoins-takes-power-but-is-it-an-environmental-disaster/

there has been a story going around that Bitcoin mining is the same as gold mining, that it uses resources that are destroyed in its creation, (of course not, the miners secure the system, a necessary expense)
People began dismissing it an bringing up the calculations on how much energy was being used, but this article left out the fact that it is in the miners interest to have the most efficient machines possible.

hmmm, your right, someone should do an article about Bitcoin, a nice thick article that is thorough and split-able into different sections so that media outlets with different known positions can take their spin at it and base it all on fact, pure unadulterated fact straight from us.

We are trying to get the funding for a massive Press Release distribution, spreading the facts about Bitcoin.

Can be seen here: https://bitcoinstarter.com/projects/31

Also we will include that mining is necessary energy expense to maintain the integrity of the Bitcoin network and to make it function at all!

TRC really is going off the charts on BTC-e at the moment - if this helps any of you!

1635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin Price Recovering on BTC-e on: April 14, 2013, 09:47:04 PM
I never thought of TRC as a scam either - I just figured the dev had some pretty big problems to solve. Now that TRC has survived this hurdle I'd say things are definitely looking up.

I've always liked TRC and the network looks pretty healthy now.

1640  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 1 BTC (Auction starts at $0.01 USD) on: April 14, 2013, 11:55:56 AM
I'm tired of using exchanges that are laggy and take forever to process orders. I'm going to try selling 1 BTC here instead.

  • This auction will last for exactly 7 days from post
  • Payment can only be made in BitStamp USD codes
  • Bidding starts at $0.01 USD
  • Bids must be placed in increments of $0.50 USD or they will be ignored
  • Payment will be due within 12 hours of auction end.

Can payment be made in a BTC e USD code?
