1821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jan 3rd is BITCOIN DAY on: February 14, 2011, 06:08:33 AM
Quote
And a year, to me, is the time Earth takes to revolution around the Sun.

PS.  Oh, and by the way, "jan 3rd" is certainly not by any kind of "Jesus Christ calendar".  JC has never designed any calendar system.  The word "January" comes from the roman god "Janus" in julian calendar.

Without Earth & Sun we can't live.

I am sorry, for saying Jesus Christ calendar. I mean to say a calendar followed by Christians.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jan 3rd is BITCOIN DAY on: February 14, 2011, 05:41:27 AM
Jan 3rd is not by earth & sun rotation.
Its by Jesus Christ calendar.
If earth & sun rotation means then u have to go for Indian calendar, which is confusing, coz they use moon & earth also for calender.

Whatever every one celebrates New Year on Jan 1, even though it is only by Christian calendar.
Its hard to reject Jan 1 as new year, coz it became world accepted.
even though every country, every religion, every caste, every sub caste has there own calendar & new year.

As said the very first block, the genesis block generated on Jan 3rd.
So, it will be the birthday of 1st bitcoin. No one can deny that.
Instead of having 2 separate dates as birthday & bitcoin day, it will be good if their is only one, which is decentralized, which cannot be erased, have only ONE very specific special day.

Also, as new year brings good things, hope, new things, wealth, prosper, fun.....on Jan 1st..
Jan 3rd brings the one which controls the above, (wealth, new things, prosper, fun....) , coz money can bring anything.

Jan 3rd marks the day of a currency, money, wealth, which got its birth on Jan 3 2009, which can change the world, still no one can control it, no one can bring it down, no one can erase it, & every bitcoin generated cannot be erased whatever any one do.
It will be there in the network, even the owner forget it address & all the man made currency so far can wear & tear in time.
A 1 dollar note can be teared, a 1 pound note can be teared, a 1 sterling........a one rupee coin can be hammered(sorry, in India one rupee currency is not used anymore),
but what ever any one do a 1BTC cannot be ..........(I actually don't know the best word to describe)

1827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I be taxed? on: February 11, 2011, 02:23:45 PM
Instead of going for 3rd parties & laundering services, i think just send your bitcoins to ur account in mtgotx or any other site that holds bitcoin (sorry i made account, but forgot), also another is witcoin, then delete wallet data. create new wallet data & send ur bitcoins to new address from ur acc., problem solved.

Its very hard for govt to tax you.
I am from India & RBI asked paypal to give interest if some one keeps their money on paypal acc. coz it like bank & paypal have to give interest.
To avoid that paypal sent email to indian users to withdraw their money with in 7 days of arriving it, coz its RBI guidelines.
since bitcoin address are anonymous, it very hard to find to whom u send or from whom u receive.
Until u convert bitcoin to ur bank acc & keep on rotation then govt cant able to know it, so cant tax it.
If govt has to tax u then they have to know u have money.
with an anonymous bitcoin address how can they know & prove its ur address & its ur money?

1836  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: python OpenCL bitcoin miner on: February 09, 2011, 09:04:08 AM
Here's what I've observed with a 5970 and now a 5870 as well.  Hope it helps someone.  First and foremost, a few posts back someone noted to use the "Known Best Settings".  I added the -f5 switch and I went from about 560Mhash/sec to consistently over 600Mhash/sec on the 5970 alone.

Next, the first post in this thread says . . .
"5970 is actually two 5870s with internal crossfire. OpenCL doesn't work with crossfire. It must be switched off. You can't switch it off on Windows. For now, 5970 can be used fully on Linux only."
I have used the 5970 for over a month on Windows 7 and get results from both cores, about 300Mhash/sec each.  So I don't know what that comment is all about.

Next, I finally was happy with my results with the 5970 and I can never leave well enough alone.  So I bought a 5870 tonight and threw that into my motherboard as well.  At first I was getting "Disabled Adapter" in Catalyst Control Center, although I could see the third GPU (now as GPU #1) in MSI Afterburner.  It did nothing and just sat there very cool.  poblcm only recognized the two 5970 cores and the CPU.  After looking at posts on Google as far back as 2008, someone said, "Plug in another monitor".  Not having another monitor, I plugged in my monitor to the 5870 instead.  Now, the 5870 GPU was the only core recognized by poblcm along with the CPU.  So I ran poblcm with a device=1 and it worked!  Then I unplugged the monitor from the 5870 and replugged it into the 5970.  Now, even though the 5870 was the disabled adapter again, poblcm was still running on the 5870.  Then I ran poblcm again on device=1 and device=0 and both of the 5970 cores were running alongside the 5870, for a total of about 875Mhash/sec.  Pretty good.  So that's just FYI for anyone running multiple 5870's, 5970's or combinations thereof.  I wish there was a way to get Catalyst Control Center, or ATI Stream, or whatever ATI driver it is to enumerate all three cores so I would not have to unplug and replug the monitor into different cards every time I want to run poblcm on the 5870 and 5970 at the same time.  I would suspect this would be a similar problem, and a similar solution, for running poblcm on  two 5970's on Windows.

For 2 monitor needed, instead of plugging & unplugging, why don't use 2 cords?
I have samsung lcd monitor & it has 2 connectors, vga & DVI.
I think 2 graphics cards can be connected to 1 monitor with vga & DVI port, so u don't have to unplug & plug.
Just a thought, i don't have 2 graphics card, so if anyone have, please check & reply.
Thanks.
