1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best/cheapest way to anonymize bitcoin payments? on: January 12, 2017, 05:38:15 PM
You could transfer some BTC to a blockchain.info wallet and then use the "Shared Send" function.  0.5% transaction fee

https://blockchain.info/wallet/send-shared

Blockchain.info Shared Send is no longer recommended. Shared Sends leave an easily tracked pattern in the blockchain.

State of the art at present is to use Monero. Buy Monero with bitcoin at one exchange than after time has passed sell for bitcoin at a different exchange. Use a local Monero wallet, not a web wallet for maximum privacy.

I think the bottom is in. Two legs down completes an EW abc correction. If I am wrong best estimate is we would see a $658 - $700 flash crash but as time goes on that seems less likely.

I read a lot of good things about the Nano Ledger S and they are planing monero support.

Is there anything wrong with it?

Not at all. I use both Trezor and Nano S and they are both very good hardware wallets. I have a personal preference for Trezor since I bought one of the first ones but really you may as well save $35 and buy the Nano S. Both will serve you well.

Which ever you choose remember that hardware breaks so buy a spare. Over the years I have had one Trezor quit working. No problems with Nano S so far. You will see Monero support on Ledger before Trezor it is already on their roadmap.

CryptoWaves 5 days ago predicted another leg down as low as $705 on BitFinex before resuming advance.

Thanks for this!
1866  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Can anyone recommend an iPhone BTC app that doesn't suck? on: January 10, 2017, 04:16:41 PM
Breadwallet is arguably the most secure iPhone bitcoin wallet since it uses hardware storage on your phone for private keys. The only downside is Breadwallet uses a different derivation path than most other wallets so a Breadwallet seed can only be restored to another Breadwallet. I use it on Android and like it, if I used an iPhone this would be my wallet of choice.

Different EW theorists have varying wave counts. One Elliott Wave count that is as reasonable as any is by Paul Gordon of Coinscrum, who believes we are now in Primary Wave 3 of Grand Cycle I with a projected high of $9304.

1868  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TREZOR: Technical issues on: January 07, 2017, 08:08:40 PM

The passphrase is like a 25th word of the seed.  Every passphrase gives you a different wallet, and if you forget the passphrase (or lose the seed) the BTC stored in the wallet are lost.

So johoe, Where do I put the passphrase when recovering? It's much longer than the BIP44 words, so It cannot be in the seed.

You do not use the passphrase when recovering only when accessing the wallet. You can also recover the Trezor seed to Mycelium wallet on Android.

Rather than shilling for Roger Ver go straight to China for your news in English http://news.8btc.com/

From the $152 low on Bitstamp to $1140 the correction was only to the first Fibonacci retracement level of 23.6%. Probably overdue and healthy. Bull market still intact.

When we can expect some nice news and see 0.02?

It has been three years and bitcoin still has not taken out the last ATH on Stamp. It took Monero 27 months to best the first ATH. If Monero takes out 0.0265 in less than a year consider it a gift but I would not bet on it. Probably next year.
1872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 03, 2017, 05:58:18 PM
Even though the price has gone up a bit, is now still a good time to buy more XMR?
ZEC is trading at almost 3x the price of Monero, and I personally feel that Monero is a much better product, with at least some support even if its mostly from darknet vendors right now.
Surely the price could go as high as Zcash, right?
I don't think $40 to $50 is unreasonable if we get more exchanges and wallets supporting the coin, and start to see some clearnet websites start to accept payments in XMR.
(Or is this just wishful thinking?)

Yeah, the time to buy was when the price was .01 or better. One thing you can count on is volatility, maybe put some low ball bids in at .012 on the chance you get filled. Otherwise you are probably better off just cost averaging by buying each week to get the best average price. Monero and ZEC are both highly speculative and the traders decide what is fair price for both. Very few altcoins have taken out their all time high. Monero has already done that once, we have to see if that happens again.

Clif High is the same oddball prognosticator who predicted nuclear war in 2010. You may as well get investment advice from Rush Limbaugh. Take a look at his website at halfpasthuman.com.

Hell of a fight on Polo for 0.016

Maybe panicking shorts holding the rise off - 8000 ish XMR for the last few cents up to it.

And BTC under 1000 on Stamp as I type.  Getting interesting...

.0162 is 50% retrace from Sept high to Oct low significant resistance. Next level is .0186 if successfully breached. Looks like a pullback now.

Winklevoss ETF the 10th of January right?

No still making the way through approval process. Good news is that final deadlines are coming up so it should either be trading quarter two 2017 or DOA.
1876  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What exactly is "taint" with bitcoins? on: December 31, 2016, 05:51:26 PM
Nathan047 makes a good point. If for any reason you want to anonymize your bitcoin you need to be able to draw on a large pool of bitcoin, which would decrease your chances of getting back coins that can be traced to a bitcoin address that has been red flagged by coinanalytics software. The large pools of clean bitcoin are at the largest exchanges, so go from there. Monero can be a large help here.

I have had the GUI crash a few times. I have found the best way to use it on my system is to start monerod from within the GUI folder and monitor progress in cmd window. Once synced start the GUI. When finished exit monerod in cmd then close GUI. YMMV.

Fibonacci retracement levels from swing high to low to watch

1879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 28, 2016, 05:35:36 PM
hey guys,

my wallet is nearly finished with syncing and about 2 hours ago i sent 1 xmr to my wallet from poloniex. still not received ... how long should it take?

Will not show up until finished syncing. To increase your privacy you might want to send from Polo to mymonero first then to the official wallet.
