As Bitcointalk to my knowlege is the most popular Bitcoin related forum on the web I expect many new Bitcoin users pass through the forums in order to get a better understanding of the currency. I am curious how much speculation, rumors and so on effect Bitcoins value. If for example an overwhelming number of posts project a negative outlook towards Bitcoin, will that start to drive prices down? I realize China and other markets also play a big part in Bitcoin but as the main English forum I thought this is an interesting question.
Personally I hope I am just being paranoid but it seems as though a large proportion of members here are more interested in creating chaos in order buy cheaper regardless of the long term damage such actions might cause. Please do not focus on this perspective though, I am just curious whether the forums have impact both short/long term on Bitcoin as a whole.
nah bro, you just hang out in speculation too much. it is a totally relevent idea that you have to make a bi-lingual forum tho. i have never seen that done to my knowledge. one could translate their posts automatically? it would certainly test the patience of all the grammer-nazis in here lol. but srsly, I want to hear from china too (large percent chinese speak some english, no?) there's another bitcoin related forum?

yeah dan, this armory client isnt that complicated, the second time I read the instructions it all seemed to be pretty clear. looks like a good solid client! My concern is overloading my already overworked comp. but it seems like this will soon be a non-issue peace

I used to use multibit, cuz it is easy, but I have read it is meant to be used as a hot wallet and not recommended to store large amounts. now I am interested in Armory, but there is a slight learning curve. Its security features seem pretty advanced tho, so I'm working towards it. I tried all the others and didnt like them so much, it is a good thing to learn the ins and outs of the various clients, you'll learn more about bitcoin in the process, but my one warning is; stick to recommended clients from this sub! as bitcoin grows, the malware and bogus downloads, including lookalike download sites, are growing too. stray too far and you could be very sorry.

etotheipi Hi On your site you recommend the Eee PC from Asus " If you are holding thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoins, it could be worth purchasing a low-end netbook just for this purpose! Something like the Eee PC from Asus costs between $200 and $300 " " Anything with 256 MB of RAM will work." https://bitcoinarmory.com/?s=asusThis asus mini pc only has 1 GB RAM Yet, at the same time, 4G of Ram is recommended according to this thread. I m a little confused Thanks he says in the instructions the asus is for the offline wallet which requires far less RAM. the online wallet requires 4 RAM. er...maybe I should let the master speak

so, can I run the present version? I would like to try it, primarily as a tester and not necessarily to store all my coins. I just dont want to freeze my poor little lenovo, and I also use plenty of large programs regularly (I make high res photoshop art, and edit audio and video files quite a bit) ofc I would not run these simultaneously.
you also say "a couple of weeks" and "not even close to being started" do you have an ETA for the version 9.0? cuz I'd be happy to wait if its not too, too long.
thanks for your patience with my n00bular ways.

Hi; Firstly, let me say I am eager to install your Armory client on my new computer, and I have read through the instructions a few times already. I have a few issues I would like to resolve before I launch into using it in earnest tho... RAM; You state that I need 4 GB of RAM to operate the online wallet. My comp comes with 4 GB installed RAM (says 3.6 available) does Armory itself use all 4 GB? that seems like a hell of a lot, and would leave me short 0.4 GB to operate it. plus my comp would only be good to use as a wallet and I could forget about running any of the other software I use on a daily basis. Am I missing the point here? do you mean I need a 4 GB RAM comp, or I need the whole 4 GB to run armory? please elaborate. New version coming soon; how soon, and will the new 9.0 version use less RAM? This is a bit of a stickler for me as I am very attracted to armory's unique features, but buying a new, and frankly, at over 4 GB much more costly computer is kinda hard for me to swallow. sorry, i'm such a n00b but if you could just lay out the basic must haves in simpleton language for me it would be much appreciated. I really want me some armory protection

I still think there'll be new money coming in. I just don't think it'll be huge. That's why I reckon $150 will be the ceiling on this one before a fall back down to $130 by middle/end of the month.
Why so much rage with everyone? Is everyone on hormones/steroids or something?
they learned their netiquette over at 4chan.

china has had Q-coin since the late ninties(?) so they are already familiar with cryptos, not to mention the gold-farming that any chinese national unfortunate enough to go to prison is forced to participate in. so they definitely understand digital currencies. if users get established before their govt. cracks down (to steal their coins, natch) could be pretty big!

I would like to worship the concept of Bitcoin... but I am already a devout worshiper of a magical chipmunk called Dave.
not talking about worship. all i am stating is that years from now, when people might use a version of BitCoin as currency, this version of the protocol might be mutilated by governments and big organisations and the 'history' of how bitcoin started and what it was started to be might be manipulated and forgotten. being forged into the blockchain this information might be a bit more resilient. fair enough, just kidding you know you can add stuff to the blockchain like porn links n shit, you should add satoshi's papers (assuming some bitcoiner hasn't done so already)

Paper gold is like a web-wallet, but that doesn't mean the real McCoy has any of the same issues.
dude, the banks don't have 10% of the gold that they issue on paper. if every paper gold holder tried to get their gold in physical form ... see 1980 silver manipulations as example. also; gold thousands of years used as currency bitcoin; an experiment 4 years in. just sayin

I really never gave peter vessenes much thought until recently. With the amount of hate and anger he gets on this board, it makes me think the guys gotta be doing something right!
no wonder satoshi went underground.
