i added you on the list. thank you for your participation.
thanks, I also added the personal message, if that is still available, I would like to participate with that as well. (I originally thought it involved me sending messages to other users, now that I realize it is just the note under my avatar, I don't mind it)
1062  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent 20 BTC by mistake. Please help. on: January 29, 2015, 05:53:09 AM
wow, I guess apologies are in order for OP.

really though man, get a handle on btc before mucking around with it. You have learned how easy it is to lose your coins, you may not realize how rare a thing it is for those coins to be returned. You are really lucky!

Also, cloudmining, any cloudmining company, they rarely make ROI, almost never. You really should do a little more research before you dabble in this shit. you got lucky today, tomorrow you may not be so lucky.
AND...
Don't drink and BTC!
1063  Economy / Speculation / Re: Four Charts That Suggest Bitcoin Value Could Be At 10,000 USD Next Year on: January 29, 2015, 05:45:47 AM
Ive seen charts like these forever. draw some lines on a graph...better yet, suggest that past performance indicates future performance. Its called TA and it has been proven worthless. Go to the Speculation sub and look around. Actually go back a few pages and see the same predictions of "Da Moon!" backed up by the same charts...if this method worked, we would already be beyond 10 000$ per btc.

I get it, BTC is boring right now, the price is sluggish, disappointing, weak. We are all hoping for some kind of bubble, but you would be better off being realistic. Things may stagnate for a very, very long time. In fact, BTC could still fail completely. I hope not, but if I expect the very worst, then any upward movement, or even nice stable sideways movement, is a gift.

At this point I look at my stack as a 100% blind gamble. I might end up with zero, I might get rich. So far I am a teensy bit ahead.

go to bed, and come back in 5 years. Its easier on your nerves.
1064  Other / Meta / Re: PM restriction for new accounts is needed on: January 29, 2015, 03:10:26 AM
the sig campaign I am part of offers me the option to sig and PM spam, but I only use the sig option because; I compare the sig to a billboard [passive advertizing] but spam PMs to telemarketers [intrusive, annoying advertizing])

PM in this context is not personal messages to other members, but the personal text in your profile, it will show up below the avatar.
I don't see what the problem with a line of text beneath avatar would be, obviously. Might have to sign up for that, except I really enjoy what I have there now. my greed wins!
Still, I have never received a single spam personal message. Been here for a couple of years now too. Just lucky I guess.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevii will become one of great capitalist barons of this century! on: January 29, 2015, 01:20:31 AM
Does anyone here know anything about the politics of these two? Are they libertarians, or just lucky rich kids who bought a shit load of BTC at the right time and now intend to milk it for all its worth?

There are many scammers, many technologists and many philanthropists plus a huge number of greedy get rich quick kids in the is community.

Where do Winklevii fit in?

honkies from the east coast, most likely dyed in the wool conservatives.
These type of American Upper Class people, when they go into business, tend to donate $$$ to BOTH democrat and republican incumbents. Its called hedging their bets. Which ever party wins, they are golden.

Their politics are "Always back the winner"

Surveys like this are good gut checks. Bitcoin, for all the hype, notoriety, libertarian evangelism, and ravenous finance bro interest, is still something most people don't know about, let alone would use to buy things.

I disagree. I dislike these sorts of studies because they're always misleading and always from a short pool of people.

Respondents were also divided about whether the government should "ban Bitcoin or leave it alone." 12.9% were down with banning something that probably at least some of them had never heard of, while 16.1% hoped the government would not interfere.

Well I think that is telling of the sort of people they polled.
The TV game show "Family Feud" has been running since 1983, and I have yet to meet even one of the "hundred people surveyed"

makes you think, don't it?

anyway, most Americans don't know how any part of their financial system works, but they trust it and use it anyway. In this simple fact is the "killer app" that btc is waiting for...namely... get people to use it without really realizing they are using it. By the looks of things, the FED is working on a digital money transfer system to be implemented that way (seamless on consumer end, way cheap and fast on banker's end) but it wont be BTC.

Unless some devs or other brilliant person/people figure out how to bring BTC usability to everyone, regardless of their tech savvy, make it foolproof, even with some add-on that gives a reversibility function to transactions (or like multisig has escrow built in) the banksters will do it first and BTC will go the way of the dodo bird.

1067  Other / Meta / Re: PM restriction for new accounts is needed on: January 29, 2015, 12:49:27 AM
I cant recall ever getting any spam PMs. If I do, they are pretty easy to spot anyway. Maybe some here are more gullible and a "How To Spot A Spam PM" thread could be stickied somewhere?

anyway, I have seen spam PM campaigns recruiting (the sig campaign I am part of offers me the option to sig and PM spam, but I only use the sig option because; I compare the sig to a billboard [passive advertizing] but spam PMs to telemarketers [intrusive, annoying advertizing])

we can report thread post spammers, is there a similar option to report PM spammers? I think I've only ever gotten ~7 PMs ever here, all legit, except 3 or 4 were to inform me I have broken a rule, and/or had a post removed  Undecided

EDIT- I have joined the PM campaign. Don't worry, in my case it's "personal text" not Personal messages. Thanks for the clarification Bad Bear  Cool
1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Topic about guy drunkenly sending 20btc - Coins came from bitstamp hack on: January 29, 2015, 12:03:07 AM
I get the feeling that drunken 20 btc guy is related to this--->https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=938476.0 guy. It is why I think this is a criminal gang who sees bitcoin muny, but has no clue how to 'puter. Or just retards trying random doors to see if one is unlocked.

Ahhh, to be in Romania in the springtime...

I get the feeling you are related to THIS-->https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=938228.0 guy. It's your diction and syntax. Also you are asking sketchy questions. Are you involved in some sort of nefarious activity, sir?
1070  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: January 28, 2015, 08:44:19 PM
save your API key
then you can look at your history without the website
read the CT page on how to do it (its long)

EDIT- appears that crypto-trade has been bought out and will re-open in 3 months.
I'd back stuff up anyway.
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Topic about guy drunkenly sending 20btc - Coins came from bitstamp hack on: January 28, 2015, 08:34:36 PM
I saw that thread in the n00b section too and it made my spidey-senses tingle as well. It just seemed off. There was a similarly written one about some guy trying to get into a locked blockchain wallet that was asking for his private keys (?)

My guess is, just a wild scenario mind you, this; the hack was orchestrated by a organized crime group. They are thugs, not hackers, but they have maybe one or two hackers under their employ. They get tons of BTC, then distribute them amongst their various (not very tech savvy) minions and tell them to hodl, or maybe open exchange accounts, or maybe get cloud mining contracts (?) in order to insulate themselves (the higher up crooks) from guilt. This minion is either drunk like he says, an idiot, or a typical crook who thinks he can cheat his masters and tries to do some quick turn around deal with the btc so he can skim some off the top. He lost the coins and now his masters are going to kill him, hes desperate, he comes here for help.

I don't know for sure, but there is no honor amongst thieves and they all steal from each other. Other than that I cant figure that thread out either.
1072  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what should i do right now? on: January 28, 2015, 06:44:50 AM
i am a newbie.

1) i downloaded Bitcoin core as my wallet
2) i set up a password on it
3) i created a BTC-e account.

so what should i do right now. my money(real money) is in my bank. how i am gonna use this money to get bitcoin from btc-e?
secondly i didnt get why i downloaded a bitcoin wallet?

what country are you in? different nations have different access to different exchanges. Many here do not mind BTC-e but I get the distinct feeling they are not honest, could go offline or fake a hack any time...Romanian Roulette.

you downloaded a wallet to a) use as a wallet
                                      b) support the network.

go ahead and use BTCe if you want, but NEVER listen to the trollbox, you will lose everything

yes this my account
i have login and password but my probleme this :
Private Key Needed

This action requires the private key of bitcoin address 158MowJAS4AyJe1QEZu57tAhWKYUlnZE. Please enter the private key below.

If you can log into blockchain.info, then you can get the private keys in that wallet. But before you do that, please read this:

There is no legitimate reason to give a private key to anyone else.

+100000000 best answer.
Did you receive one of those blockchain emails that tells you you have money in your account? those emails are a scam. they want your private keys so they can steal from you.
1074  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to put on a tech-blog? on: January 28, 2015, 06:23:33 AM
I would start by aggregating BTC news from other sources (here at bitcointalk, in the "Press" sub of the "discussion" section, reddit, coindesk...follow every btc news account on twitter) also Motherboard, which is the tech section of vice magazine is pretty good and n00b friendly.
Original content is always the best, but so much is going on in btc and so much is changing so fast, you might want to immerse yourself in the world of BTC news first. Then you need to find your "angle" same as any type of blog. I'm sure there is a list of top paying btc related keywords out there too. They help with traffic and can be a good seed to begin an article with.

you might reach out to members here, calling for potential interview candidates. vet them carefully, but there are many knowledgeable and helpful devs and btc evangelists here, who knows, maybe Andreas might even give you a little of his time, he gives good interview.

I get my news primarily from here, reddit, and the zeroblock app on my iphone which has all the news that's fit to print.

Good luck with your online publishing! you never know who is going to see it and where it might lead. There certainly are plenty of openings for digital content creators!

Edit- you could also look for btc meet ups and btc accepting businesses in your area. Face to face IRL interviews are really good ways to put a human face on the btc concept

So the FED are here at bitcointalk. Do you think they simply lurk, or do they control any accounts. If so, who do you think is FED?
Come on Internet detectives, let's out them!
1077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevii will become one of great capitalist barons of this century! on: January 28, 2015, 04:27:04 AM
don't you think, since BTC price is sooooooooo easy to manipulate, that robber-barons like these twin douches will just manipulate the hell out of it until its broke?
The EFT just replaces the money they spent on BTC. If they break BTC, its no worries for their pocketbooks
point to winklevii
and before you all start saying "but its a regulated ETF, they cant manipulate..."
its wallstreet, if there is money to be made, they will squeeze every penny out. no matter the ethics, rules, laws, or "love of the technology"

these two guys might kill BTC, and I think they might just have the blessing of the powers that be. The powers have wanted it dead for too long.

they cant break bitcoin .........even their 1% is not enough

Break like breaking the Internet. FUD and bs news and troll campaigns; lower the price. Creating fake volume by selling coins to themselves; raise the price. When the general public sees how easily this can be done and enough investors get burnt, put the final nail in btc's coffin.
Admittedly it's a paranoid scenario, but after seeing scam after ponzu after blatant rip off and manipulation, not just Wall Street, but everywhere, I am sceptical of these guys.
If you think it can't be done to btc you are wrong. They said forex was too big, and too strong to be rigged too!

So If I get this correctly list of shareholders are now only at crypto-trade right? because some one on other thread just pointed out that they are shutting down. So you probably should do some backups of list ASAP

True fact Cheesy
From their (expired cert) site:
Quote
Important Announcement!

Due to very low volume and lack of good userbase, Crypto-Trade has decided to shutdown permanently due to inability to cover its expenditures on rented servers , staff salary and site promotion. All the users are requested to withdraw their funds within 48 hours. The site will continue to process pending withdrawals till our private wallet is empty. The site will go offline on 29th January 6:00 UTC.

What should we do? Print Screen of Crypto Trade?

Save your API.
I was actually worrying about this happening last week, actually expecting kenny to go to CT and ask for the listing to be closed, but I guess he doesn't need to. I contacted Shawn Hagerty to confirm if saved API is sufficient to prove ownership of shares but he has not gotten back yet. I had already given him a list of how many shares I own and where I bought them/how much I paid...

this whole fiasco has driven me crazy, to drink, and back again. what a ball of crap!
1080  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: January 23, 2015, 11:57:36 PM
Ken Slaughter = Mark Kerpeles
lol. kenny is the real DPR? I doubt it, silk road was a well run tight ship, most orders went through. It was run by very competent criminals. That is NOT kenny's MO. He is an incompetent criminal
