1321  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Is Not Rebounding,why? on: October 23, 2014, 10:06:23 PM
Supply and demand. The btc economy is small, there are more btc in circulation than are wanted by buyers. Simple as that. You could say btc is at its true value right now, but if more people use it in the future=higher valuation.
1322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi everyone! Long time lurker finally breaking silence. on: October 23, 2014, 10:00:56 PM
You can only lurk here for so long. If you hold btc you are going to have questions. Also sounds like you have knowledge to share! Welcome, and don't feed the trolls!
1323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does sig campaigns work exactly? on: October 19, 2014, 03:15:05 AM
you apply to be included in a sig campaign, find offers in the services section. You usually need higher ranking status (higher status= higher rewards) you must post a minimum amount weekly or monthly, and your posts must be substantial and on topic ( no "cool story bruh or  Grin ) also, obviously, NO TROLLS!

Dont expect to get rich, but if you are on these forums quite a lot and are a regular thoughtful poster its really like free money.

Caveat- I am an investor in the company I show in my sig, so I am motivated to participate for the payouts and because I support the company I am invested in. double-good!
1324  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: IM REALLY ANGRY - BEYOND ANGRY on: October 13, 2014, 12:46:56 AM
what wallet do you use? did you try "reset blockchain"? If using multibit this usually clears things up.

dust transactions dont prevent me from spending unless I try to spend the dust. I think with all dust transactions added up i have only been sent ~0.0002 btc total. does not affect the 2.5 btc I have in that particular hot wallet.
1325  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SF1 - Announcement of Consultation Poll (Trading Halted) on: October 11, 2014, 04:52:52 AM
So if a person does not want the buy back but has less than 2000 shares can they top up their shares at 0.0001 per?

Seems legit

1327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The official Bitcoin Wall of Shame (pics of said in OP as each is introduced) on: October 10, 2014, 02:30:05 AM

Ken Slaughter CEO of Active Mining Corp. It is hard to tell if he is a con man, or just hopelessly incompetant. If the latter is true, he is a scammer for promoting himself as a capable and reliable guy. Will go down in history for originating the insult; "intellihash!"

Alberto Armandi. Stole millions with Labcoin, BDT, and other scams. Out and out con man and thief.
1328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Canadian Housing & Bitcoin on: October 10, 2014, 02:11:13 AM
I have a large amount invested in a canadian private mortgage company. It has proven to be a really good value. I get returns of around 7 to 10% annually, which is pretty good, but during the last recession it returned 10-14% which is amazing for a traditional investment product. right now my dividends pay my rent and bills, so I am not complaining, but a crash in the market will earn me rent, bills, and a healthy flow of disposable income as well.

The logic seems to be when economy suffers BTC rises, but I dont really think that is guranteed. It is BTC afterall. It will defy expectations. I really hope that a crumbling economy will pump up the BTC value, though, for obvious reasons (I'm a hodler)

I've been sitting here all year cursing the improving economy, waiting, hoping for the big collapse. Bring it on!!!!!
1329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Constitution document scheduled to be torn apart. on: October 10, 2014, 01:56:34 AM
the constitution of the USA is just a bunch of egalitarian language designed to trick the middle class into becoming a buffer between the ruling class and the poor. It was never anything else. The founding fathers of the USA were just a bunch of very rich slave and land owners who, a) didnt want to pay tax to england. and b) wanted to ensure that they had complete and permanent control over their slaves. It has been misinterpreted as a document backing the freedoms of the common man for so long, people have forgotten where why and by who it came from.

If it gets shredded, so be it.

1330  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SF1 - Announcement of Consultation Poll (Trading Halted) on: October 09, 2014, 10:33:35 PM
Following the publication of the results of these polls SF1 units will resume trading on Havelockinvestments.com and Seedco Management Limited may proceed with a formal offer at a later date.
trading has resumed but nothing has been published. What exactly is going on here?
1331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos kicked ass at the Canadian SENATE! on: October 09, 2014, 02:43:03 AM
beautiful. very very nice.

the applause is really something, they dont do that for everybody and it shows that the senators were really, truly impressed. I'm not surprised, the man presents himself impeccably.

I have high hopes for Canada to be a leader with cryptocurrencies, even if we are maybe a tad slow to the party. The only problem is, our senators do not have that much power. the prime minister can veto anything they put forward. plus they are all appointed, not voted in, so they will naturally be in line with the prime minister's agenda, what ever that might be. There has been a lot of corruption come to light in our house recently and there is talk of reform to how it operates. developing.

its a good start though. good on you andreas!
1332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: October 08, 2014, 10:37:08 AM
This could wipe out a lot of earths population if it isn't contained. WHO has said we have about a month or its game over.
Sure would ease up that global warming though.
Too many people.
Nature culls the heard

Millions of people will die, a huge swath cut through the nations of the world, a giant percentage of humanity laid to waste.
Yet, the real question still remains...
How will this affect the value of my bitcoins?
1333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you dumb enough to be a cop? on: October 08, 2014, 10:15:21 AM
I've heard tell of these sort of "IQ Ceilings" for cops in Canada since the 80s. It was only rumour at the time, believable enough, but no internet for proof back then. Still, we all knew what the cops were like so it added up. The dept. that policed my region was listed as "Canada's most corrupt" in a newspaper expose back in the day. I remember it being reported that the chief himself was part owner of this notorious stripper bar where they were running underage hookers and he had to resign. No joke. York Regional (York Pork) Canada's finest.
The reasoning, us kids cleverly surmised, behind the cops barring applicants with any IQ above a certain low standard was, in our estimation; the job is boring so intelligent cops would get restless and start to steal more than their share. Lol.

We were so innocent back then.
1334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you still speak about wonderful Bitcoin in family and friend gatherings? on: October 08, 2014, 09:21:12 AM
People who talk about money all night at parties are crass and boring. Tech talk is too nerdy and wears listener's patience. Economics...please no.
I try to have fun when I visit with friends and family. They already know what btc is (thanks to me) and they care about me, so if they've heard of these lows they might express concern, or steer clear so as to not embarrass me.
We get together to enjoy. The few people I know who have brought it up recently, were inquiring as to my situation, hoping I wasn't being ruined or asking if I had changed direction.
Btc is transitioning, in 5 years every one will be using it. Whether they realize it or not.
Plus I paid ~60$ each for my coins.
Not worried  Cool
1335  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-10-08] Andreas A. featured panelist at Canada Senate Hearing on Bitcoin on: October 08, 2014, 12:46:13 AM
I will watch this tomorrow, cant wait (yes I am Canadian)

Andreas is a great guy, bitcoin couldnt have a better ambassador, he is well spoken, personable, knowledgable and just plain nice person! If I didn't know better I would swear he WAS a Canadian... so nice and polite  Grin We love that sort of thing up here!

Anyways, I am very interested to see what goes on in tomorrow's webcast... There is a growing tech sector in Canada, and part of our national identity seem to like to think of Canada as a place for innovation (Remember the Canada Arm on the space shuttle? We still have it on our stamps and money!) Our overall liberal attitude up here is a ripe environment for BTC to find fertile ground. Unfortunately I am afraid our current leader is somehow hell bent on tearing this nation apart and selling the bones to the highest bidder. He's a real scumbag (PM Steven Harper) an environmental criminal and lackey to american intrests. We are looking forward to a federal election coming up so hopefully we can flush the turd before he does too much damage...

Good luck Andreas! Knock em dead.
1336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question? on: October 08, 2014, 12:02:09 AM
If you're installing Bitcoin Core for the very first time, it takes about 6-8 hours for the entire blockchain with decent CPU and fast, stable internet.

Like others are saying, install it at night, let it sync, and when you wake up and check on it it should be fully downloaded and synced.

It can take days...I installed bitcoin-q from scratch on a new computer 2 weeks ago and it took over a week. once it is synched your transactions should show up, although doing this makes me uncomfortable (OCD)

If you do not have bitcoin core set up and synched, and you absolutely must do a transaction right away, try something like multibit. It does not need the whole core synched to work. there are torrents that have the core all downloaded and ready to go, but I do not have the necessary skills to determine if they are corrupt or not. could be full of malwares  Embarrassed

tl;dr my advice; be patient, if you cant, get multibit.
1337  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 07, 2014, 08:54:23 AM
wellllll
if btc price continues to fall and reaches a sane valuation, but AM preforms well despite this...we may see 2+ btc per share (which would be good for me, btc-wise)   Roll Eyes
1338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow the newest bitcoin deterrer on: October 07, 2014, 06:12:16 AM
Don't pay!
I will promise not to kill you for 0.05 btc. Half price!
1339  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fuck that wall - help me eat it. on: October 07, 2014, 05:07:58 AM

or, was it an insider with really bad news?

ding ding ding  Cry

May be, I can't know for sure, but who would an insider be? Wouldn't there be other sell offs? Why so obvious? Doesn't seem like they were trying to hide anything, you would think they would say something.

It's just such a crazy move I'm perplexed (more so than usual)
1340  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fuck that wall - help me eat it. on: October 07, 2014, 04:25:13 AM
