why cant wikipedia simply put ads in their sites? they will make loads of money and will stop begging.

I've always wondered this, but maybe it's about remaining independent and blah blah blah etc. They could easily implement some unobtrusive google ads, or put links to buy albums or films via amazon on album/film pages etc and take commission. They can also still accept donations.
18762  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Former CIA chief: Snowden should be “hanged by the neck until dead” on: December 21, 2013, 08:23:50 PM
CIA +1

Snowden is a criminal and a traitor, he deserves to be tried as one and found guilty and imprisoned forever!!

He just revealed the wrongdoings of the NSA, and somehow he should be imprisoned?  The government has done far worst, so should they be imprisoned forever?

He's just trolling.
18763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silk Rd 2 Raid on: December 21, 2013, 08:09:00 PM
Cops are just doing their job. It's the government cartels that are fucking filthy.

It is not an excuse for avoiding retribution.

"I just executed orders" or "I just did my job" were not and are not good excuses for doing evil things to others.

"We were just following orders" is what a lot of the nazi concentration camp guards said at their trials. Remember, without soldiers there would be no wars.
18764  Other / Off-topic / Re: Several Silk Road moderators arrested by FBI on: December 21, 2013, 08:07:31 PM
I knew Silk Road 2.0 was some sort of honey pot.

Except it's probably not. SR is fine, they just seem to have busted people moderators via the forum, which is on a different server and not as secure. Pretty sure setting up a honeypot like a new SR site would be entrapment, and I don't see why they'd go to the fuss of creating a new site when they had already gained access to the old one. Would've been easier to just keep that running and pick people off gradually.
18765  Economy / Services / Re: Forum Posters Needed on: December 21, 2013, 08:03:27 PM
Ok, I've started posting on there. Made at least 10 constructive posts so far so hopefully will get a pay out. I'll post on here when I do.

I'll probably have more time to post mow since Stunna has severely cut his Primedice rates. 2000 posts per month is extreme.

You can now submit as many posts as you feel best for you, without much stressing yourself for some limit as previously. 1999 posts would be as good as 2000...

Well, that is true, but I'll always push myself to get the maximum that it's possible to earn haha.

you can close this topic i'll open new one later when more people needed

i see some people stuck on paypal way,  i am going to pay by btc anyway. I make sure let this known in new thread.

And it's already 3 people working i cant manage more thanks for all answers.

I give task for sharing this way it2s much better.

I think you can close it yourself, but it's probably best to keep it open as it gets some free advertising/exposure for your forum.
18766  Other / Meta / Re: Custom Avatar for myself on: December 21, 2013, 07:42:20 PM
Once the security hole is fixed can theymos re-enable avatars?

I'm sure they will be as soon as the vulnerability is sorted.

It's taking a very long time, I guess.

It's probably not a priority, plus apparently there's new forum software coming, but that is also apparently taking a very long time.
18767  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to safely sell Bitcoins on eBay? on: December 21, 2013, 07:35:40 PM
You are right. It is not bad to sell it there it is just service that can be exploited as you say.  Well for ebay and paypal, nothing is exploitable for them if you are selling digital goods because seller is responsible to read the rules first but I have seen many cases that even physical stuff can be exploited

Look here:
https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-use-PayPal-Archive/Buyers-abusing-quot-not-as-described-quot-to-force-refund-when/td-p/15414

It is clear that Ebay and Paypal  dont care much about sellers. But to be honest, every seller must read terms of service before they sell digital stuff like Bitcoins.

If you are living in UK and want to buy some bitcoins in minutes online:

https://bittylicious.com/

Bittylicious is really good place to buy Bitcoins, it is much more cheaper and faster than buying from ebay. I personally used it 3 times and I must say that Bitcoins are in minutes in your wallet. And they dont support paypal only bank transfer and Barclays Pingit. You must however have Faster payment feature on your account but in UK most of the Banks have it anyway.

EDIT: You can aswell apply for seller account if you have UK Bank with ability to receive Faster payments and you are able to sell minimum of 1000 GBP worth of Bitcoins per week. You can set your price but cheaper applicants are first ones to sell.

If ebay will ever implement such a service as selling bitcoins, sellers would need to drop the prices first because Ebay is like heaven for them. Selling them 2x the price or sometimes even more.

Yeah, Bittylicious is probably the quickest and easiest way to get BTC and FTC.

I'm sure if ebay creates its own marketplace for coins, the prices wont be much more than regular exchanges. They're only a massive premium because people will pay that just to get coins easily and with PP.
18768  Other / Meta / Re: error page for posting on: December 21, 2013, 07:32:12 PM
I've had a few bad gateway / contact administrator pages in the past hour or so. Site was down briefly as well.
18769  Economy / Services / Re: Earn upto 0.6 BTC per month for your signature! on: December 21, 2013, 07:29:55 PM
Just out of interest is anybody actually on track for the big payments of:

501-801:  0.21 BTC
801-1200: 0.32 BTC
1200+:  0.60 BTC?

I am eligible for 0.21 BTC

When is your payout date?

I don't know if it's been confirmed, but in the initial post it says at the end of the month, and it was originally posted on the 24th so I guess it's somewhere between the 25th till the 31st.

Alright. Lets see if these guys get their "Christmas present". Cheesy

Haha, yeah. I hope they do, but I doubt they'll get it on Christmas day.

In a ridiculously informal and totally unscientific poll, I discovered that the same bitcoiners clamoring for Wikipedia to take their money don’t want to give them much money at all, if anything. Answers ranged from the equivalent of a couple of dollars, with at least two people regurgitating South Park’s “tree fiddy” meme, one stipulating that Wikipedia could have ten entire bitcoins if they “apologize for being wankers about the whole thing,” and many more insisted that Wikipedia no longer deserves their “money” for giving them the cold shoulder for so long. .

Hahahahaha. Lold.

I don't see why people complain about the payouts... It's free money. You shouldn't post more than usual when you have a signature.

There are way too much spammers on here.

As I said before, I'm not complaining. I already posted a lot here and did before I signed up for this deal, but the money made the incentive to post more. I still don't spam or post in threads I have nothing to contribute, but let's be honest here, most people post a little extra if they've got a sig advertisement. I think it sucks that everybody has been penalised just because of a few trying to game the system or whatever. I'm sure a better payment system could be worked out for those willing to put in more work with quality posts as opposed to scores of newbs just signing up to lazily get the bare minimum by just posting their wallet address for giveouts etc.

I just use http://pirateproxy.se/

Piratebay is blocked in the UK. They got Filestube recently too. Bastards.

lol, I think it would be really cool though... they seem like the kind of guys who would pay big bucks for a large btc coin

I don't care for Christmas, it's only fun for kids really. Now it's just another day. I usually don't even buy people presents either, but I got my mum and dad some this year. I tell peeps not to get me stuff, but they always do. We're having Christmas day tomorrow because both my Mum and Auntie are working on Christmas day, but I'm not really looking forward to it and all the same old questions they ask me every year that always have the same answers.

Payment amount has been lowered decently due to extremely high demand, sorry for any inconvenience.

Sad. I was going to push for the 1200 posts, but 2000 is way out of reach for me with the time limits I have as a newb. I'll keep posting, but I've lost a lot of motivation to even attempt to get near 1200 posts.

As I got it, since this round you are being paid on a per post basis (0.0002 BTC a post). 2000 posts get you an upper limit of what you can possibly earn, i.e. 0.4 BTC. If you post 1200 constructive posts you still earn more than, say, for 1150 posts, i.e. 1200 x 0.0002 = 0.24 BTC. I think this idea would be much better but for prices fallen..

Paying per post would probably be better, but as you say not for these cut prices. Wont working out how much is owed be more work/ time consuming now? Hopefully they'll be a better system implemented and/or Bitspay will pay out, though if they do I'm sure they'll cut their rates.
18780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overstock.com accepting bitcoin on: December 21, 2013, 05:44:55 PM
When I think about the amount of time it took for credit/debit cards to catch on and be used in most places, or the amount of time it took before online shopping become a normal thing that most people do. 5-15 years seems pretty reasonable imo for a timeframe for bitcoin to start to reach it's full potential.

How long did it take for credit/debit cards to catch on? Remember, new technology moves faster and gets implemented quicker now than it did back in the day, so I think if Bitcoin will ever become mainstream it will do so well before five years. I could easily see 2-3 years.
