1881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 04:03:20 AM

@poornamelessme - the new forums that I'm creating will have a dedicated section for DCM (I've also been talking with Patrick at Vericoin and it'll have a dedicated Vericoin section too - with more coins to come). The idea behind this is that we want to attract all crypto enthusiasts who can then float between the various forums.

I'm not sure if you are aware what is going on with DCM, but let's just say whatever is happening, it doesn't look so good.

Rather than set up a dedicated section for DCM, you guys are probably better off just dissociating XBC from it completely. You'd have better luck partnering with XLC, and considering what the XLCplus dev did regarding the ipo funds, that is saying something.
1882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 03:39:39 AM
I think it less the issue of seeing progress, and more simply seeing the lead dev post a bit more often. It probably doesn't help that the official xbc forums are currently broken too.

Hello all, I'm one of the XBC admins - actually the bloke who created the forums and made the branding video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXxzjcVLEvc). I guess in the absence of Seriouscoins, I'll step up to the table and explain what's been going on.

Firstly, the forums - these are not broken, I've actually moved them to a new URL and I'm in the process of upgrading them massively with new features like a trading section and access to other currencies. The reason why I'm doing this is because I realised that individual coin communities are essentially transient - ie they are only a member of the community during the time they hold the currency. These people are rapidly replaced by new investors and the cycle begins again. In my opinion, that's not the way to lay down strong roots for a community, so opening things up to all crypto investors is more likely to hold people's interest for a longer period of time.

I'm not going to post the new forum URL here on account of the fact that they're still not finished, but if people PM me, I'll be glad to give this info privately.

Secondly, the website - again I have been working with Wallenstein on developing a new version of the site and this will be switched over once complete - hopefully by the end of the weekend. I'm a firm believer in 'less is more' and the new site has massively simplified things by making things easier to find, whilst getting rid of 'extraneous bumpf' which doesn't do anything except for cloud the message. Essentially the new site will deliver the message that it's supposed to.

Finally, we have Mindfox ready to start working on an updated wallet and some new features like anon, however we're waiting on other admins to get back from their summer holidays before things get finalised here.

In he meantime, I have no problems with being people's point of contact on here and I'll answer questions to the best of my abilities.

Okay, glad you took the time to post info about what is going on. I'm not sure if you are aware of the DCM issues happening, but simply posting at all helps soothes some fears people may have here. So long as we know the dev team is still all here (or away on holidays) and active, it should be good.

Hopefully they get back from their holidays soon, as the price could use some buffering.

A whitepaper on the anon features planned for the wallet probably would help, a lot.
1883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 03:23:27 AM
Well hopefully your dev team didn't bail on you guys like they did on DCM.  Locked the tread.  Took down the site.  DCM is trading at 200 satoshi.  No one responds to PMs.  Don't know how that collaboration is going to go now......looks like nothing will happen with your coin either.

Being that 2 of the assistants over there are devs with you guys, I think you guys are fucked too.  Sorry to say.

I think Serious had more of just an advisory role over at DCM. But an appearance here by the devs probably would help, just so we know they are still around doing coin stuff.

DCM had its own issues, which hopefully will be kept separate from XBC. There is also much less of a reason for devs here to bail, as XBC's ipo money never went to the dev team here, nor to the coin. So it's not like there are promises to break or ipo money sitting around meant for XBC for devs to walk away with.
1884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 03:05:57 AM

I'm just recalling what I believe I read.  I personally would rather see it hit the top of the voting list naturally with people who want it to be there like how its getting voted now.  I don't want to see what happened to Monero happen to XBC.  Monero bought its way to the top and then when it was listed it just bled out quick and ended up below the price it was naturally before mintpal.

That's not uncommon. To be honest, I expect that will happen with XBC too, unless the devs become active here. The way coins grow on MP is if there is momentum and value behind a coin.

At this point, I'd just be happy to see it listed, rise up a bit, and we take our chances and hope the devs do stuff. Rising up via slow votes, or fast contest votes, I don't think it'll matter in the end regarding if people dump or not.
1885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 02:35:17 AM

I believe they discussed the voting giveaway promotion before in this thread and asked for people not to do it since it is a good way to get de-listed from voting.  I'm not too worried about the price atm.  This coin is crazy under priced now, especially with the amount of coins it has.  I'm confident in this coin and believe it will eventually sky rocket soon especially with all the scam coins that people are getting burned with now and with a good solid coin like XBC it will shine in time.

Since when are voting giveaways a reason to get delisted from the MP list? I know bots are a reason... sure you didn't confuse voting bots with contests? A lot of coins have done the voting giveaway/contest thing for MP. I mean, Aiden just did it... which probably explains how they shot up so quickly.
1886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 02:13:05 AM

Chill everyone.... I know people start freaking out when they don't hear from a dev in 1-2 days but there is progress happening especially with the wallet road map given.  Just relax and if you have the extra BTC in hand pick up some of the cheap XBC right now while you can.

I think it less the issue of seeing progress, and more simply seeing the lead dev post a bit more often. It probably doesn't help that the official xbc forums are currently broken too.

The weird thing, as stated, is how there doesn't seem to be much promotion going on, voting contests or a push for MP, when the coin is so close. Other coins go crazy when they get into the top 50 sometimes... here it's top 5, and everything goes silent.

If anyone is the organizational type, and has a lot of spare XBC, all I can suggest is they organize their own voting giveaway. I know of several forums that handle that sort of thing... good for marketing too.
1887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 25, 2014, 02:08:45 AM
It seem like there is no project leader here anymore and i dont like it !! There is no action on bitcointalk, twitter, facebook, etc. What the fuck is happening ? We are number 4 on mintpal and everybody give up now ? Price is slowly dropping on polo and we need something nice to get momentum again ... Ive already invested some of my stack to buy more vote on mintpal and im voting lot of times everyday, what about rest of the community ? Are we 2-3 to believe in this coin from now ? By the way, Is it possible that seriouscoin keep us up to date ? Is he still here ?

Strangely it seems most of the dev team decided to go on vacation just at the time the coin is nearing the top at MP. Bizarre timing, to say the least.

Price is dropping, I suspect solely because of lack of dev activity here. Normally when a coin reaches the top 5 in MP, price goes up, even if it may be 2-4 weeks before hitting #1. But not in this case. It is really weird.

Anyway, either devs will show up, price will boost to mid 30s again, and build until MP release, or devs strangely decide to be sparse at the exact wrong time. More of a dev presence, a little voting push and some new coin stuff is all it needs, really.
1888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DCM] Digital Commerce 100% PoS Multipool/Merchant/Investor focused. Bittrex! on: June 25, 2014, 12:38:06 AM
Just bought 11,000 at 1500 satoshi on a gamble that they'll fix the interest rate problem in the wallet and start pumping out cool features.  Probably a stupid gamble as kreative hasn't been online in 4 days and not one of the dev team would reply to me regarding serious issues, but it wasn't too expensive.

Could be a worthwhile gamble. If I had spare btc right now, I may have done the same. Instead I put in a more cynical bid near the 100s... and am not even certain that is a safe bet. I keep thinking of maza for some reason.

Out of curiosity I just checked the price right now. Slipping close to triple digits.

*Repeatedly presses the catastrophic loss button*

Help...

I'm selling mate, this was a scam, just a pump and dump. Devs won't spend a single bitcoin on this shit. I have lost some to, but din't buy much to begin with.

I actually sold most of my coin a while ago, and just have some scraps left, so I'll wait it out myself. At these prices I really don't see a point to even selling. I can't really take a loss here, I just brought up the catastrophic loss thing as that's exactly what the devs said they would protect investors against.

If they don't put up a buy wall now, the coin is dead (or deader than it already is... dead dead) and the devs won't have a chance in crypto again (using those screen names, anyway).

Help...

probably the devs placed their buy wall @ 110 and 100 sat.

Heh, I wondered about that. That's around where I put a small buy order.

I don't really think the devs would do that,  but if one or more whales did want to get involved with this coin like the devs mentioned earlier, there is only one scenario I see that is feasible. Basically a complete collapse, whales scoop up dirt cheap coins. Devs come to the rescue and are active. Coin gets pumped to 2-3Kish. It's a level that is still too low for most ipo people to sell at, yet certainly a nice profit for those who got the cheapo coins. I'm also sure someone like Bob wouldn't do anything like that, however...

1892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who needs anonymity? on: June 24, 2014, 09:11:33 PM
Generally speaking, I don't think anonymity would be that important to most people. I mean, why should it be? Those who it will appeal primarily to are those who are big on privacy/liberty/freedom and that sort of thing, and those making shady purchases.

And that said, BTC rose in value to a certain degree based on those shady purchases, so I wouldn't dismiss it as a factor in a coin's value. One may also view it as a differentiating factor with btc, so just the fact it's a different feature could add value. Sometimes it's not what you personally view as important with a coin, but what you think others will think. If enough out there think anonymity is a big deal, even if it may not be, it results in a higher valuation.

That doesn't mean coins that just came out, with no infrastructure besides some vague anonymity claims will amount to much. But I do think a couple of the anonymous coins can hold value for some time yet, primarily drk and maybe one of the cryptonote flavors.
1893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 24, 2014, 07:55:51 PM
Any rich XBC people left who want to run some MP voting contests? The devs are either on vacation or have personal issues going on, evidently. I guess in one way it's a good sign the coin is where it is as far as MP voting goes... very little dev activity, no MP voting contests, and not much in the way of vote buying, yet the coin has still gotten to #4 just based on regular voting.

If there was an actual voting campaign going on, devs announcing new stuff (or better yet, releasing new stuff) and more chatter here, I expect the coin would shoot up a lot faster.
1894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ** should we BAN SPOETNIK? on: June 24, 2014, 05:45:15 PM
It is also a tad bizarre that the OP would even bring up this subject. He just went on a NEM spamming rampage himself, making multiple threads, posting nonstop in some weird split personality type of style. It's like the pot asking the kettle to get banned.
1895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ** should we BAN SPOETNIK? on: June 24, 2014, 05:32:31 PM
I disagree with a lot of what Spoetnik says, primary because a large percentage is juvenile or simply trolling -- or completely bizarre, such as that post where he compared himself to Goebells. But nah, that isn't a reason to ban him. Not that you could even if you wanted to.

If that rapecoin guy was allowed to have a thread (beats me why that was allowed, as it would seemingly fall under the promoting illegal activity category), I don't think Spoetnik ranks up anywhere near ban worthy.
1896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: {ANN} MorCoin - Unique Distribution Model to Achieve the Ultimate Distribution! on: June 24, 2014, 04:45:13 PM
Could be interesting, freebie coins are always popular. I would have suggested a different method than email/posting here to verify accounts, however. There will be a lot of puppets.
1897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DCM] Digital Commerce 100% PoS Multipool/Merchant/Investor focused. Bittrex! on: June 24, 2014, 03:05:03 PM

I don't think that the devs are not working on something, they are just too slow for the crypto world.  Coins with promises just don't do it any more because so many people have gotten burned.  Now if you want a coin to succeed, you NEED to have everything ready (or almost ready) before launch.  The fuck if I'm going to ever invest in something with "promises and potential" again.  I'll wait until things have been proven to work and the devs have a good track record....and that's where I will invest.

I think you are correct there with the issue. I've mentioned it before, as have others. Saying something is coming soon, or in the marketplace's case, a month or so from now, is simply too slow in crypto-time. It could work, if the devs showed something in-between new developments, but to just wait and post screenshots, while the price tanks, obviously isn't working.

Then add on the natural skepticism with all ipos, and then include the Bob issue, and it's a terrible mix. The devs should have, and maybe still can, diffuse this skepticism by spending some of the ipo money. But they seemingly have been holding onto it like misers so far. They could have partially diffused the Bob situation/kept the price semi-stable early on by using ipo money to vote the coin up on exchanges... but nope. During Bob's initial tantrum phase, they could have been here reassuring people, instead of deciding that weekend was a good time to spend with their families ... but nope.

They could very, very easily rent machines with some of their ipo money and support their own multipool... again, doesn't seem to be happening. Pay a dev for a mobile wallet? Maybe use some coin to offer promotions? Or maybe actually outline here in detail how they plan for the marketplace to work with low coin volume, what vendors they signed up and exactly how the ipo money is to be spent... nope.

I still have some DCM, but mostly got out  with the teensiest of profits when Bob kept going on his rampage. I'm annoyed at myself for not getting out immediately as soon as Bob started the whole thing with Harmony (which amazingly seems like it was the safer buy at the moment).

Anyway, maybe the devs can turn this around still... it's not impossible. But they can't simply sit there and think an upcoming marketplace weeks from now will save things, not without showing something tangible very, very soon.
1898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DCM] Digital Commerce 100% PoS Multipool/Merchant/Investor focused. Bittrex! on: June 24, 2014, 01:45:34 AM

Yes, the dumping is a problem but it will be dealt with if it continues. An even bigger problem though is the number of coins held in the exchange wallet; we've talked to several whale-type people and this is the biggest issue they have, they want to see a better distribution of coins before committing money to the coin.

Not so sure that is so easy to fix unless the price stabilizes at a decent level. I'm always surprised how many people keep their coins on an exchange to begin with.

If you really want people to get their coins off the exchange, give them an incentive. Go with a marketplace discount model like I mentioned, based on coins in the wallet. Use ipo funds to cover it, if necessary.

Offer up a buy wall at 4K, eat up the dumpers. Rent machines, increase multipool buys.

There, problem solved, not so many coins on the exchange anymore. Or at least not so many on the ledge ready to dump.
1899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DCM] Digital Commerce 100% PoS Multipool/Merchant/Investor focused. Bittrex! on: June 24, 2014, 01:33:28 AM
Any comments from the devs?

I don't have a lot of dcm anymore, and the small amount I still have was free, but if I was one of those people that held this entire time from ipo prices, I'd probably be angry. Not angry over the price, nor even angry over Bob. Just annoyed at the lack of forum presence and activity from the devs.

There was a lot of talk, but so far we haven't seen a whole lot. At the least you should be commenting on ideas people are suggesting here.

I'm not sure what you mean by the lack of forum presence. We're here every day and comment on stuff going on when we see it being necessary. If we were to reply to every post, I'd spend a good part of our day doing just that.

So, to give you an idea what everybody is working on:

Kreative: talking to several vendors, trying to sign them up for the vendor portal, trying to get investors onboard, etc.
Wallenstein: dealing with the development of the vendor portal
Aszu: working on wallet upgrades and fixing the remaining bugs
AHumanBeingX: was working on marketing stuff, currently moving back to the US, so he's AFK
SeriousCoins: trying to get his head around the anon feature of the wallet

I'd also like to state once again that Kreative's job of getting investors on board is being made significantly more difficult by the huge number of shares on bittrex, which makes investors fearful of being dumped upon. That situation has actually improved over the past few days, but it would be very helpful if people who held a large number of coins would pull the majority of those coins to the local wallets.

So we're actually quite busy, but we don't have great new revelations to share with you every day; we don't have a magic hat we can pull this stuff from. That being said my next post will be something new.

By lack of forum presence, I sort of meant this current lull between threads. And it may just be me, but I do think the comments regarding protecting investors from a catastrophic loss should be commented on.

What levels do you consider catastrophic? In my opinion, we are already there.

As for investors, I'd think the dumping that has been going on would scare them more than the number of coins on the exchange. You really need to deal with the lack of buy support.
