1921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 21, 2014, 07:39:19 PM
C'mon keep the mintpal votes coming.

ADN and XSI will overtake us if we don't pick up the voting pace or somebody rich pays for votes.

Could be #3 by Monday, assuming Monero gets added by then. But yeah, those coins are catching up.

I've asked several times, but maybe the devs would like to organize some MP voting contests or something similar? Now would be a good time. A big push could sneak it in past Zim the following week.
1922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 20, 2014, 04:45:12 PM
If you read the ANN and see what has become of this DigitalCommerce 18 days after IPO, it is a total disgrace.

As stated before, the only ones dumping below IPO price are those who got DCM for free. Or those who got BTC from the IPO for free and converted these into DCM.

Now think a minute about who these dumpers are... Kiss ?

The devs who wrote all those beautiful words in the ANN have now all vanished from stage except for Wallenstein, who still has the balls to face the music.

The devs should have used/should still use their budget to keep the price up above IPO.

Unfortunately, they have decided to let this coin bleed to death, including the IPO investors.

Bear in mind there are only 233 DCM wallets with a balance greater than 0, excluding the Bittrex exchange wallet.

At this moment, for only 25+ BTC the devs could buy all DCM off the exchange wallet and stabilize DCM.

The question is, how committed are these devs...

They could set up a buy wall, but I'm not sure how long it'd last. I've suggested it more than once, but they could instead support the multipool via mining, which indirectly would then add buy support. The devs certainly can afford to buy/rent machines with their spare btc from the ipo.

I guess it could be argued that the devs are thinking too rationally, that people will behave like normal investors and simply wait for new things. That can be dangerous.

As for dumpers, I expect many are those who bought at ipo prices, maybe made a little profit, and then held onto the remainder of their coins. And now just want out. There will also be those who bought at 10-30K, see it's worth a tiny fraction, panic and just take whatever they can. There is also the problem that when a coin slips below ipo prices, you get pressure down, as those who say bought at 5-6K may be very willing to take a loss at 3-4K. So it appears like major dumping, but really it's a combination of lack of buy support + already low prices simply slipping further down.
1923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 20, 2014, 04:35:40 PM

Sometimes though, I wonder if I should just take out 1-3 BTC just to "play" with and make some extra coin on the side.  The problem with this is that the market would have to be watched almost all day every day with a constant fear of that particular "hot" coin tanking at any given second.

Yeah, I've considered doing the same thing, although I probably don't watch the market close enough to do it properly. I also don't keep a lot of spare BTC about, as it tends to be tied up in alts (although trying to rectify that a bit, at least), and I am a pretty small trader overall compared to most here... so losing 1-3 BTC out of my chunk of coins would definitely hurt.

So I guess those that do trade like that have a lot of spare coin and have more time than most people.  An example probably would be polo trollbox regulars ... it's sort of amusing sometimes to watch their chatter. Some treat it like jobs, jumping from coin to coin daily, hyping nonsense basically.

1924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 20, 2014, 03:48:51 PM

For what it's worth, we're also disappointed that there is virtually no market reaction to what we've put out so far. But we'll keep at it and eventually it will pick up. We are going down what I would call a "rational path"; if we do what we promised it really should result in major value gains. If it doesn't then you can probably forget being rational about the altcoin market and go back to chasing the hot coin of the week.

It's interesting that you bring up rationality. I haven't been into cryptos very long (started in Jan), and at first figured it'd be like how stocks work, or a regular investment -- people would invest based on features, developers, quality of coin and so on.

But by now, I think rationality doesn't play nearly as large a role in regard to a coin's price as it should. Actually I think logic and rationality sometimes play very small roles.

Otherwise we wouldn't get the hot coin of the week ... the new anon coin that skyrockets up, based on an anon promise or very iffy code... or no anon code at all... nation coins would never, ever have been worth what they were, and so on. So it's okay to be rational from a dev standpoint, but just don't assume that investors will be.

The lack of market reaction probably is due to the fact that nobody knows a timetable for any of the proposed things, nor can believe with 100% certainty the devs will deliver. And you don't get the benefit of new anon hype as the coin has already been pumped/dumped once -- I also expect very few are following the coin, so they may not even know about the things proposed. So the way to increase price is to implement something... anything... from that list of features. And I'd also suggest using ipo money to buy/rent machines to mine on the multipool and get some price support going.
1925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: June 20, 2014, 02:53:39 AM
Thanks to Marie-Lynn for Bittrex support, I also messaged them as soon as I saw to tell them there is still active (albeit slow) development on QBC. I simply started the Android wallet and handed it off to someone else (way more capable in Java/Android) so for that it's out of my hands, I'll post some screenshots if he can give me some.

Did you also pass off the syrup delivery duties too? So that's out of your hands?

I do realize it takes a while to mail out fresh maple syrup, seeing as you must be planting new trees, waiting for them to grow... then very slowly tapping the trees for the precious syrup inside. So what do you expect, syrups to be mailed sometime in 2018-2020 or so?

And I'd question how capable this other coder is, if he's still working on this android wallet this entire time. There really is no excuse for your lack of presence in this forum nor lack of activity.
1926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 20, 2014, 02:47:10 AM
How does something like RZR start out on Bittrex today and it's over 100k satoshi?  2 million total coins (currently just over ~769,000), an anon feature utilizing the TOR network.  And we are at 3k satoshi.  Something just is not right with that.  How are we not higher, and why is there no buy support for DCM?

Probably a combination of a mistrust of ipos, very little hype, and Bob.

If the devs had more to show right now as far as a marketplace or planned features, it could get around some of those issues, but it'll take time.

I also wonder if it's an inherent problem with some of these ipos, especially exchange run ipos. After the success of XBC, a lot of people probably were looking for quick profit. And those that hung on too long eventually dumped when things didn't turn out as well as they had planned. So I guess add in the 'pump and dump' mindset which probably was a large portion of the ipo investors as one reason the coin's price is where it is right now.
1927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM - New Economy Movement - NEMstake Tokens Listed on NXT Asset Exchange on: June 19, 2014, 05:38:36 PM
do stakeholders need to send 1 NXT to claim their token on the Asset XE? If so, what if they don't have any NXT?

There is a faucet out there that will give you 2-4 for free. Or just buy a small amount on an exchange.

One thing I noticed about NXT, as I never really used it before, is how it sort of fees you to death. Requires a Nxt fee to make bids, retract bids, send funds... basically everything.
1928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM - New Economy Movement - NEMstake Tokens Listed on NXT Asset Exchange on: June 19, 2014, 04:30:09 PM

Ah, ok it is rather confusing. I am looking to buy some more NEM stake so I thought I must first add the asset to my account and then I would be able to purchase some.

I will send 1 NXT to NXT-97MX-EWKV-CGKX-DA5WH now and PM you the transaction ID.

Thanks!

If you don't have an asset and simply wish to buy more, can't you just put nxt into your account, go to whatever asset you wish to buy... and buy it?

Why would you need assets added to your account simply to buy some of that asset? That'd mean nobody could buy assets unless they already owned some if it? Doesn't make sense.
1929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 19, 2014, 05:02:46 AM
Voting does look pretty decent there. It looks like next week Monero will get the nod, so then it'll probably be Jackpot next, and assuming nobody else sneaks up, XBC would be in line for the top spot about 2.5 weeks from now.

I'm still not sure why no voting contests have been arranged yet, as that would push the coin up even faster.
1930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM - New Economy Movement - NEMstake Tokens Listed on NXT Asset Exchange on: June 19, 2014, 02:27:39 AM

A while ago I bought one NEM stake on the NXT AE and now hold one token. Does the NEM community consider me to be a stakeholder in the same way as a stake holder that got their stake another way?

I'll assume so, at least as far as the end result. When NEM comes out you can swap the token for real coin. Basically stakeholders who ask for tokens are in the same boat.
1931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 18, 2014, 11:41:25 PM
This just in
Vendor Portal Grid View Design

Our designer has come back to us with the updated design for the grid product list view. Please see the image below for an impression of what we have planned.

Your feedback is, as always, appreciated.

Design is fine, but I suggest you guys put up a mockup of the marketplace webpage, just so folks can see it in action. It doesn't have to work, but anything at all real is always better than screenshots.

One question that has been brought up previously but nobody on the dev team replied... how do you guys plan to handle marketplace purchases if the volume for DCM (and XBC too) is low? Limit daily sales, use ipo coin to cover it? Some other way?
1932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: June 18, 2014, 06:06:48 PM

Yes, cold offline wallets now work. El Presidente's guide here should see you through the process:

https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-2-3.241/

Follow it exactly if you haven't done it before or it's been a week or two since you noodled with your node. Personally I skip the /usr/bin/ bit, run everything with ./darkcoind from /~.darkcoin, and use the linux qt wallet for the local steps, but if that makes no sense to you just stick to the guide.

edit: If you are setting up multiple nodes, remember to edit your local darkcoin.conf back to basics before each new run-through! Wink

Nice and thanks. And wish it was multiple nodes... just have enough coin for one.

And are most people using amazon EC2s for these? Any particular size needed? Small freebie EC2 good enough? Or are they using something else?
1933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: June 18, 2014, 05:40:23 PM

Cold remote works fine, I set up another two yesterday. If it isn't working for you, you're doing something wrong.

I've been lazy and haven't set up my node yet. To just verify, cold wallets + nodes are currently implemented? So we can set up a node without exposing our wallet for possible theft?

I was going to wait until that was added, but if it has been already, I might as well set it up now (or at least try to).
1934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 18, 2014, 05:33:01 PM

The same aftermath of any coin after a whale has left with his profits.  A ghost shell.

Pretty much, yep. Ghost shells can occasionally recover, sorta, to a certain level, but it's probably not the best thing for the health of a coin.

I don't quite get this rush for anon wallet stuff -- well, beyond hype and devs cashing in/lying, that is. I mean, Dark has been working on theirs for many months, got it working quite some time ago (minus node payments) and we have all the cryptonote flavors too. So unless an anon solution is better than those, I'm not sure of the appeal. Hopefully whatever DCM has planned is more secure than existing solutions. It'd be kind of nice if they released a whitepaper on it.
1935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: www.CoinsSource.com | Premium Source Launching Jun 30 | SourceCoin (SRCC) on: June 18, 2014, 05:27:10 PM

Oh my mistake, i actually went through and was fixing several errors (one of them was editing posts on our forums). One of those errors is something a user suggested.

So we ended up re-building our forums and adding a lot of modifications.

I'll re-create the topic, sorry for your inconvience.

And yes, we have multiple segments in our forums: www.coinssource.com/fourms

Ah... I was the one who suggested on your site the editing fix. Just wanted to add the giveaways/freebie suggestion, and didn't know where to post it.
1936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce 1.35 Mil coins 100% POS/Soon Anon/Accounting wallet. on: June 18, 2014, 05:19:03 PM
30k market cap. What a joke.

Well, if you feel bad, look at Mil or XLC.

Things could always be worse. DCM is still at least in the btc volume range and around 1/2 ipo values currently. If it can at least maintain these levels until new things are brought out, it may not be so bad.

What I think it comes down to is, the devs need to show something. Those new wallet things are great, but the price won't stabilize until they show either wallet improvements, the marketplace, new exchanges, something. It's just the way it is, as people are naturally skeptical and the Bob situation certainly didn't help matters. If the price can just be stable where it is, it could buy them some time. If not, they better hurry and get something out there.

Mindfox would be a good catch. Although I thought he was working on another coin too currently? Watercoin, or something else? Or maybe I am getting confused. Crypt has whales pumping it, which is good and bad... when they leave, I'm not sure what will be left of the coin.
1937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution- Updated on: June 18, 2014, 05:07:09 PM
I still can't tell when Spoetnik is trolling or serious.

Someone brought up Godwin's law in another thread here, which I hadn't heard of before. But I guess it does actually apply to any thread that goes on long enough. This may be one of the rare cases where someone self-referenced Nazism to themselves, however.
1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 18, 2014, 05:09:15 AM
If you get a good lawyer, you could even get him to compensate the losses this coin led due to his fud and price manipulations.

Bobsurplus thinks what he's doing is okay since he's safe inside his house in front of his computer but this is truely criminal. And the fact that you guys don't make this a priority is just raising questions for me, and making me believe there's more going on. Let this explain my 'slanderous tone' (refering to your last reply to me). I might be wrong and in that case i sincerely apologise, but if you don't ever question things in live you get screwed over fast.

You know, I've wondered why legal action hasn't been taken more often in cryptoland. We get people outright lying, influencing price, running scams, spreading FUD/misinformation, all over the place, not just here. I guess a lot of it is due to not knowing the identity of the person causing the problem, their location, and legal costs. But I will assume the first two issues don't apply in this case. Legal costs, however, could be pricey... so that is one reason it may not make sense to sue. If it costs 10K to sue for a chance to get back 15K... yeah, I can see not even bothering. You need a cheap but good lawyer... *thinks of Saul for some reason*

DCM is currently disabled on Bittrex.  I was hoping to move some coins off the exchange and into my wallet

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-DCM  Huh
Works fine!

The market works, but deposits/withdrawals seem to be disabled. I'll take a guess and figure it's simply due to this (listed under Bittrex news):

Wallet server maintenance

Maintenance in progress, some currencies will be offline.
1940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Millionaire Coin (MIL) - Launched! on: June 18, 2014, 01:15:14 AM
I passed on this as the ipo numbers never made sense as getting into profit territory. But for those that did invest, I think your best bet may be to just buy some now that it's dirt cheap, average out your price somewhat, and hope for the best. Or just walk away and chalk it up as a learning experience.
