1941  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what do you think about mercy-killing? on: February 11, 2018, 09:42:46 PM
I don't believe in such thing, i believe in the measure that can be to help a suffering soul, but it is not the same ar mercy killing because in your scenario it is a personality thing and not a medical one.
There are numerous chronical ailments that cause continuous pain and suffering that can not be healed.
1942  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 11, 2018, 09:39:40 PM
Oh cool, war talk!

Where's that story about the elephant and the ants? I know some elephants avoid plants that have ants, but they don't bring down the elephants.

I think it was something said during the war. Germany was the elephant (better technology, better trained, better generals, etc.) the Soviets were the ants (huge numbers).

Please stop repeating nonsense someone told you before you at least check the facts once. If you bothered to do that, you would find:

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Front_(World_War_II)

Does this look to you like elephant and ants? Something else was the reason why Soviets defeated Hitler, and it's not the number of soldiers.
The ruski numbers are way higher (why does this need pointing out?). So yeah, ants. Also, they were in the r phase of the cultural cycle during the war, so they definitely relied more on numbers than quality. Some of their soldiers were tasked with shooting anyone who fled from the front lines, for fucks sake.

Repeating nonsense will not make it true. On what do you base your claims these numbers are not true? It's common reaction not tot accept the facts when facts doesn't suite your prejudices and beliefs. Smart people rather question their beliefs then questions the facts. Doubt is good, it's a source of knowledge.
Look. Look at the fucking numbers you are quoting. Where do you see higher numbers on the axis side? Point it out. Dickwad.
No seriously, what the fuck happened here?

Happened that I'm tired arguing with you about obvious. You stated:
Quote
Germany was the elephant (better technology, better trained, better generals, etc.) the Soviets were the ants (huge numbers)
and I've shoved you the figures that in 1944 when the Germans where truly defeated there were 3,370,000 Hitler's fighters confronted to 6,425,000 Soviet fighters. If that complies with your definition of one elephant vs huge number of ants then I'm out of the discussion. You are right that those 3,3M fighters had better technology, were better trained, had superior command infrastructure and still they are defeated by 6.4M fighters. It certainly was not the "ant psychology" that gained victory with such less then 1:2 number difference.
20m vs 3,8m paints quite a different picture.
1943  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what do you think about mercy-killing? on: February 11, 2018, 08:37:49 PM
Not sure what I think about mercy killing. But if I wanted to die (due to a terminal disease etc) I wouldn't want to die from an injection, but from a drug.
A heroin overdose, more precisely.

A person who dies from that would feel the most amazing and intense high a man can ever achieve. He would not die sober and in fear, but high and...high.

Mercy killing actually seems fair to me now.  If the patient, his family and the medical staff agree, there shall start the procedures of an intentional overdose (obviously only in the case of terminally ill patients)
Heroin overdoses are administered by injection, but I get your point. I'm not really sure if I'd want to go that way though.

You apparently only get to die once, so I'd like to see what it's like in as sober a state as possible.

Perhaps he compared the bold figures only and considered the gaps to not be large enough to justify those metaphors? Fuck knows.
1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: February 11, 2018, 08:26:52 PM
BTC can not switch to BCH even if it is dead. Smartcontract passes ETH. Nobody can stand in front of ETH POS.
I guess you haven't heard of Bitcoin smart contracts yet.
1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: February 11, 2018, 08:23:02 PM
Green, Ruby, Black, Rose, Blue I think whoever reserved a Monaco Card wants to try the App and receive the card asap. Colors and tiers may change but I focus on the working product.  Wink

Yea pretty card is important but a working product is more important! I thought they had already produced thousands of cards, so not sure what impact changing their cards will have on delivery (if that is the case).
They've ordered (produced?) 500,000 cards so far. Adding a specific card now (or perhaps before but leaving it unannounced) doesn't change much. And delivery didn't get delayed any further and is expected in the coming weeks.

When number of pages in this thread equals the btc/usd ATH, will it then drop to 6k pages?
Keeping fingers crossed.
The ATH already passed the number of pages last year, but apparently the page count didn't get the message. Let's see what happens during the next round. Tongue
Is page count a leading indicator or a lagging indicator?

it is the mean to which the price will revert
Brilliant. I'm ashamed I didn't come up with that despite my training in Mathematics.

Shouldn't an Economist at the NYU at least be smart enough to factor out the monetary supply? Would sure be nice to see someone in such a position making educated assessments rather than spreading propaganda or bullshit statements that don't hold under scrutiny.

Re: Bitcoin is the biggest bubble in history. Glenn Beck even did a show about it.

All they factor in is percentage rise, not market cap. Beck said that when the bitcoin bubble bursts it would be worse than the dotcom bubble and the housing bubble combined. Silly because there are so few people affected.

If you want the biggest bubble in history I have one that is bigger.

My brother had an ice cream cone when I was a kid. I told him I'd give him 1 cent for it. He said no. At that point the price per ice cream cone was $.01. Then I offered $1. He said no. So I offered him $10. Knowing I didn't have that much money he again said no. I then offered him $1 million for the ice cream cone. He said I don't have that much money. So I said I have 50 cents and offered him 50 cents for it.

In the span of 5 minutes the price of one ice cream cone went up millions of percent and then the bubble popped and crashed. That was the biggest bubble in history. It should be recorded. The economic impact was felt for years after that, the recovery felt by all.
Never heard of that dude. Doesn't seem like he's worth knowing either if he argues like a toddler?
1948  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what do you think about mercy-killing? on: February 11, 2018, 06:22:55 PM
In extreme cases such as incurable diseases that cause continuous and unbearable pain that would be perfectly acceptable. Why force people to suffer needlessly?

If this is actually real news I'll be sticking with MEW if it stays around. I don't like the way this seems to be playing out, which would make me too anxious about using the new site. But who knows, maybe my gut feeling is off on this one.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: February 11, 2018, 04:56:23 PM
Bitcoin is dead? Wow that was funny, Bitcoin has still the most dominance in the market. And way far from dying.
I totally agree with you, maybe the writer of this topic is too pessimistic about the future of bitcoin. Bitcoin will thrive in the future and nothing will stop it. Because bitcoin is the most valuable coin in the market for cryptocurrency, every time a market fluctuates, people often look at bitcoin and judge, in fact, the overall volatility of the market, not just of bitcoin.
the OP i think put all his investments to bitcoin cash, thats why hes very consistent in this thread imposing bitcoin cash will take over bitcoin but he cant even prove all about this..and besides after he post this thread from few months, bitcoin still standing though facing a big drop.and for sure couple months soon it will recover and make another pump just like what had happen last december.

I think it is better not to put all your investment in Bitcoin Cash, maybe up to 40%.
Even 40% is way too much for BTrash. I wouldn't even recommend putting 40% into any serious asset, which is a bill that BCash does not fit to begin with.

I think we are giving this guy too much importance on the most read thread of the whole forum. You know how PageRank works? Let the economist out of our house. Leave him with his obsession and let him live with his grandeur
Indeed. We could at least try not to bump PageRank too much by using half-cooked links as in

1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: February 11, 2018, 02:45:18 PM
Warning people it's ok...but yeah when everyone think that they are taking something for free even to earn 1 cent what you can do?
If there will be an ICO for this coin then that would be the real problem!
It's worse than an ICO, since it claims to be free while requiring you to buy and essentially lock up coins in order to get any "airdrops" (which aren't airdrops). And most of the coins still end up in less than 10 wallets due to rules that favour the dev team. It's literally designed to draw the money out of idiots' pockets for the duration of the airdrop.

1959  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to stop overthinking? on: February 11, 2018, 12:12:42 PM
I overthink all the time, and I notice no negative side effects from it other than not being able to fall asleep easily. Quite on the contrary, I'd say the net effect is overwhelmingly positive.

Your problem seems to be a lack of focus and its resulting compulsion. If you want to practice focus you can just try to pay attention to your breath and increase the duration of that exercise over time, or practice calculations or other short-term memory tasks in your head.

when will Cards be shipped to Europe? Any concrete dates?

Most likely Q2 2018. A pleasant surprise would be to have them before that.

why it takes so long Huh
Because it's a very complex ecosystem that depends on multiple players. You can't just crap out a good product.

no, but you should not make false promises either.
