1601  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin sold himself on: February 20, 2018, 06:18:02 PM
I second Vitalik, there exist quite a few people who choose not to view Cryptos as a Make-Me-Rich scheme, but a technological innovation.

You need to look it in that manner rather than reducing the crypto-revolution to look like a Ponzi, where every Tom, Dick and Harry jumps in.

Given the market manipulations and high volatility it is subjected to more often than not, it is prudent to suggest that it's a very risky investment.
Well said, have my last merit.
1602  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin sold himself on: February 20, 2018, 06:05:00 PM
How is that selling himself?

He's completely right when stating that cryptos are not the safest asset. He didn't say that you should invest in traditional assets either. He just made the objective observation that cryptos are extremely volatile shorts and risky longs. It would be utterly retarded to bet your whole life savings on crypto unless you could easily recoup the losses.
People who bought at the 20k ATH of Bitcoin by taking up a mortgage on their house found themselves on the streets when the price retraced down to 6k.

He's basically just noting (correctly) that people should be very careful with crypto investments.
1603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your favourite ongoing/upcoming ICOs on: February 20, 2018, 06:00:32 PM
Granted I haven't skimmed the markets lately, the only one that I can blindly recommend is Blocklancer, which has only 9 days remaining on its ICO.

I've spent a lot of time reading their original and new Whitepaper, as well as their technical Yellowpaper.
From reading all three of those and seeing first-hand how their devs respond to even the most detailed and technical inquiries it became fully clear that they have spent a lot of time researching opportunities and are more than sufficiently capable of seeing their vision through.

They're bound to outpace or even absorb the traditional Freelancing platforms within the 2020s, which would put them at a market cap of well over 10-20 Billion USD without even accounting for the massive growth in the Freelancing market that is expected in the coming years. With a hard cap of 10 Million this could very easily become a 1000x bagger and higher in the long run, with a 100 fold increase being considered as low by 2020.

So...finex is down and stamp is up.

Is this due to a jump in shorts?

1606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin making alts useless on: February 20, 2018, 05:51:20 PM
Today this is exactly what happens, because bitcoin takes a dominant position in the crypto currency, if it loses its positions, then the altcoins will be free, but I still hope that this will not happen soon.
If you had read the OP you would've known by now that the price is not a measure of success. Prices going down doesn't mean that altcoins are useless. We're just seeing natural market movements right now.
1607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: February 20, 2018, 05:49:43 PM
can someone explain, how the MCO card will work ?

example: i load 100 MCO coins worth 1000$ on the MCO Card. now i go shopping. meanwhile MCO price goes up or down on exchanges.

is the card now getting everytime i pay somewhere an update of current price from an exchange ?

what when suddenly price goes up 50% so i have 1500$ on the card, do have to pay now extra taxes also ?

is MCO submitting anyone any transactions or data using the MCO card ?
First off, you can choose in the app if you want to use fiat or some crypto. If you choose to use crypto you can pick between different coins. Now whenever you swipe your card one should assume that the price at the time of swiping will be the basis for the deduction of your tokens if you chose not to use fiat.

However, there was talk about a credit feature, in which you would be able to buy something and then if the value of your tokens went up by a lot, you'd end up paying less tokens at a later time. So you could technically hedge with multiple tokens to decrease your spending of tokens.
Of course this will carry some risk, since your prediction could be off and then you could end up paying more tokens than you would've otherwise.

Keep in mind that this is just speculation. I don't know how the credit or invest features of MCO will function.

As for your last question, I have no idea what you're asking. Please rephrase? What data are you talking about?

Thanks for your assistance, it helps me a lot.
i mean with data, any information will be given to goverments? or something like that? i want to learn the tax situation about that.
I'm not sure if MCO will transmit that kind of data on its own. However, Kris mentioned that a tax filing tool was planned, so that you could easily report your taxes.
1608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin making alts useless on: February 20, 2018, 05:48:07 PM
We probably have multiple alts that one could consider as better version of bitcoin but as you're noticing, bitcoin is gaining more popularity and a fast growth. The price is not a measure of a coin success so what I'm referring to here is the the number of ATMs, exchanges, stores, services, and people accepting it.

So even If we have some people using alts currently because they believe they are better then bitcoin (which may be true), bitcoin is evolving and the development is super active and exciting times are coming. I honestly believe that this make alts useless (say, by the end of the year), your thoughts?
I'm personally not in alts for "Bitcoin replacements", but from a perspective of a equity. With LN and Rootstock there will be little reason to use random platforms over Bitcoin itself. So if equity type coins end up on the Bitcoin blockchain I'll just shift my altcoin portfolio over. I just hope that we won't get to a point where KYC will be built-in. I don't want my finances to be out in public.
1609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik Buterin Statment Regarding Cryptocurrencies on: February 20, 2018, 05:45:01 PM
The US Dollar could become worthless in a flash as well if the treasury keeps printing money like toilet paper.

There's always risk involved, the trick is finding out how large said risks are so that you can prepare yourself with a proper strategy.
1610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 💰💰 Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will look into cryptocurrency on: February 20, 2018, 05:43:20 PM
This information explains why Facebook does not allow the advertising of crypto currency. All the same they are competitors.
Farcebook is worth hundreds of billions of USD already, so some random ads would not be any competition for Farcebook.
1611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: February 20, 2018, 05:39:04 PM
i do not get it, it is like a new sport to spread fud against a particular community ?

if you do not like the project simply stay away, no need to bash happy users, we are all grown up here and know well what we are going to do, we do not need parents tutoring because you know, writing a couple of sensational sentences or posting a link to cmc is not what i consider a good and informative post .. we are in crypto here, there are a lot of risks around, looking at cmc graphs you can say bitcoin is a safe heaven? or ethereum and neo? only to cite few..

c'mon guys

There's a massive difference between a ponzi scheme and a risky venture into a new paradigm.

Perhaps you should read what is written here and verify that for yourself. Then you can take a calculated risk. I believe you did that or at least should have done.
Some people just don't want to learn. They're too greedy, impulsive and emotional to see reality as is.

The support is really big here, although cards were not yet sent but still the value is good.
Is it just about the less supply compared to Centran and TenX?
I'd love to know anyone's opinion because I was not able to follow this thread anymore.
Supply is irrelevant as long as it's fixed. It's just an arbitrary number.

MCO has nice looking cards and better conditions, along with more aggressive marketing (top tier sponsor of Money 20/20) and upcoming credit and investment products.

Either way, as already mentioned, do your own research. Never trust in what other people tell you to do with your money.

Supply matters in my opinion especially if they are under the hands of the company. Unless there is a company commitment on they way they can sell their holdings. Imagine MCO will suddenly rise 500% in 24 hours. You think the company won't dump some if there are no dump conditions committed?

When the price will rise 80% Monaco team will start dumping to keep the price down for more investors to come in. They done this time and time again.
You must be new to markets. When prices overextend too much people start selling to take profits and to increase their stash on the way down.

You are completely missing the point of my post. Supply is irrelevant on its own. What is important is the value of the underlying asset. If there's 100 times more shares for the same asset, the asset price would be 100 timers lower to compensate for the increased supply.
1616  Other / Off-topic / Re: What happens when AI Begins to think... on: February 20, 2018, 05:12:08 PM
That depends on how it's developed. You can implement kill switches that would stop it from doing anything that you absolutely don't want it to do. But there's also the option of humans merging with AI instead of using it strictly as a tool. In either case, society will change dramatically.

What update are you waiting for? I font Want any. I just want the price to be up as m holding many tokens. N I will hold till they gets double the price than that of the ico
That's how you lose all your money. Remember BitConnect? Exactly.

why you talk about bitconnect here,
all of us know bitconnect is ponzi scheme and as i know coinlancer is not, also have a lot of difference with bitconnect ?
thank you
The common ground is that both were scams. Or have you seen the admins dispute the accusations?

- They lied about how much money they raised during the ICO.
- Refused to show the funds that they raised.
- Ridiculous amount of fake advisors.
- Admin holds >76% of the total supply: https://etherscan.io/token/0xe81d72d14b1516e68ac3190a46c93302cc8ed60f#balances
- Dumped massively on gullible investors (hence the price dropping far more than the market average)
- Refuses to clear up allegations.

There is nothing legitimate going on here. I understand that you're frustrated and want to cover your losses, but that doesn't give you the right to shill for a scam so that you can recoup your losses from other people with lies. That would be called theft.
1619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: █【ANN】【ICO】█【ICO LIVE】 ██ 🌟 BLOCKLANCER ██ JOIN GIG ECONOMY BOOM on: February 20, 2018, 04:58:01 PM
Can you please take a stand towards these accusations?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2389238.0
There's a project that essentially copied Blocklancer that turned out to be a scam (Coinlancer), where the dev team is holding something like 90% of the total coin supply, has a disproportionate amount of (fake) "advisors" (which you will never see in any real venture), lied about how much money they raised, refused to show their holdings, lied about their team members, spammed their own thread with sock puppet posts, repeatedly ignored and/or dodged technical and other critical questions about their "project", censored critical inquiry on their Telegram, and just up and vanished into thin air after the ICO.

The thread that you've linked was posted by a sock puppet created by said scammers.

If you check his post history and timeline you'll find that the account was created solely as an attempt at defamation as a retort of me exposing all the red flags regarding CL in their ANN.
They falsely assumed that I was a part of the Blocklancer team, while I just exposed a scam like I'd usually would (refer to my post history to see that I regularly expose scams of different types when I come across them) and hence tried to attack this team as a result.

If you actually take apart the thread that he posted you should quickly see that it's a bunch of pointless accusations that are fully devoid of an understanding of corporate reality. Not to mention that resources are allocated within market standards. If the reasoning that this scammer provided was true that would turn not just every single ICO, but also every single traditional venture into a scam. And the facts are clearly aligned against his case.

Edit: I recommend reading the Whitepaper and the Yellowpaper (rigorous technical paper) if you're still in doubt. Both of which are far beyond market standards. And I don't mean from a writing perspective (the English isn't flawless), but from a content perspective. It's immediately apparent that this team has conducted extremely thorough qualitative and quantitative market research and successfully identified and addressed problems with the industry.
Thank you for taking a stand. I will read the whitepaper of Blocklancer as suggested. At the first view Blocklancer seems to have a good business model.
At second glance it looks even better. Especially if you compare it to the similar projects of which one was a scam, and the other is neither user-friendly nor does it have the dispute tribunal that Blocklancer has which incentivizes token holders to help the platform flourish.
1620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 20, 2018, 04:55:59 PM
Question for some of you living in the U.S. who have cashed out recently....what exchange do you recommend?

Probably going to get a lot of grief for this...but Coinbase. Coupled with GDAX I personally have had no issue's there. Once I had my bank tied in and made a withdrawl..the process was quick and painless. ymmv.

Now that everyone has has their rest...
